Bosscat is absolutely DELICIOUS. Their brunch menu is all under $20 (totally unheard of no-a-days). Their Beignets are incredible, and I am now a huge fan of chilaquiles. Not pictured but also worth it: the blueberry brunch item & the cinnamon roll. Owners and staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect and gave plenty of recommendations. Perfect place to celebrate, chat with your loved ones, and enjoy a delicious brunch. Lots of seating (indoor and outdoor). I am looking forward to coming back and trying the non-brunch as well ... after I have the brunch 4 more times!

Haven't been here in a while. Carme here with the team for a birthday. Staff is really friendly and attentive. See 34a came by to check constantly and the food came out pretty quick. Very large portions. Unfortunately the menu change again and it's limited. Not sure if the menu is more extensive at night. The highlight was the artichoke spring rolls. Otherwise we were all disappointed with our choices, well except for the birthday boy who enjoyed his burger and chips. As a matter of fact, he had dinner here the night before and had the burger as well. The staff even brought out a little birthday treat, it was actually tasty.

I went to Bosscat Kitchen & Libations years ago, and I think some of the menu items have changed since then. I still love the decor, there are a lot of unique and interesting items throughout the restaurant. I decided to have a cocktail with dinner since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. I ordered the Blood Orange Paloma and my husband had a tequila soda. Given the libations name, I expected the cocktails would be especially delicious and creative, but I was disappointed in both the taste and presentation. My drink tasted more like a regular paloma, and I didn't pick up a blood orange taste. It was topped with a fresh lime, and I think the grapefruit soda overpowered the drink. They also had two tequila blanco options: lalo and espolon. Our favorite item for the night was the burger smashies appetizer. They are three mini smash burgers, with pickles on the side, and they provide mustard and ketchup when you ask. I had the spicy rigatoni and my husband ordered the pan seared salmon. I thought my pasta was good and I liked the ricotta. My husband liked his salmon and he said the greens on the side were delicious. The charred lemon also gave the salmon a nice flavor. Service felt a little mixed during our visit. There were a couple of moments where the waitress came across as a bit sarcastic, though I'm not totally sure if I was reading it right. I think she may have overheard me mention to my husband that I didn't love my drink. When she came to check on it, I said it was fine. I don't really send drinks back, especially if that is how they make their blood orange paloma. I don't like wasting it or expecting something different. After that, the interaction felt a little off. At the end of the meal, it also took a while to get our check. She cleared our plates and it was probably about 15 minutes before she came back to take our card.

Bosscat is a must try spot when visiting the Orange Circle. The service was amazing and the menu is so well rounded, there's definitely something for everyone. For the appetizer we got the maple butter brussels sprouts. They were a tad bit sweet for me still really great. We got a variety of mains to share: coastal white fish, pan seared salmon, 12 hour beef short rib, and bosscat burger. Each dish was spot on but salmon and short rib were the for sure stand outs for me. The salmon was perfectly cooked and crispy on the outside. The short rib was melt in your mouth perfection.

Great location, decor and ambiance. Went for a private event so the food was served buffet-style. Everything was really good, especially the Brussels sprouts which were easily some of the best I've had. And the craft cocktails were spot on. Overall, a great experience with excellent food, cocktails, and service. Looking forward to coming back to try their brunch and whiskey room.

The service was just spectacular, the staff was amazing. We got the chance to meet the owner, came to our table to check and was so welcoming. The food was just fantastic, had the pork belle appetizer which was amazing with a kimchi slaw. For the main course tried the fried chicken sandwich, with french fries. Now let me tell you about these thick cut double fried goodness. They are the best fries ever. Absolutely fantastic. For the desert we tried the fried apple pie. It's like a churro meats a warm apple pie topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Amazing!!! The ambiance is just perfect, the restaurant has inside and patio sitting. The decor is so unique and feel like you take a step back in time with a modern twist

Came here for my friend's baby shower and it was a perfect spot for both dining and hosting events. We had a private setup on the front patio with unlimited buffet-style food and drinks, and the service was excellent. The staff stayed on top of everything, keeping the food replenished and making sure we were good on drinks. Everything was fresh and served hot, and the cocktails on the menu were all delicious. The fries were perfectly crispy, the sliders were flavorful, the salad was refreshing, and the chilaquiles surprisingly stayed crispy and full of flavor and shredded meat. It's located in downtown Orange and luckily we found street metered parking right in front. Will come here again to dine!

We stopped by for Brunch. The restaurant was not busy so we were seated quickly. Our waiter was very nice. I love the decor in here. They were also playing the Champions League Finals on the TVs which was good. I assume they'll play the World Cup games too. We ordered the Gravy Train and the Ham-azing Croissant. Just a warning, the Ham-azing Croissant is HUGE! This is a definitely a dish meant for sharing. They asked if we wanted them to pour the sauce over the croissant or leave it on the side to dip in. We decided to leave it on the side to be dipped. This croissant sandwich was very dense and filling and the cheese sauce was very rich. I been on the hunt to find the best biscuits and gravy in OC. The ones here were ok. I liked the idea of getting these with fried chicken but unfortunately the fried chicken was quite dry and stringy. The biscuits themselves were buttery and the gravy sauce was very savory and had onion chunks. But the dry chicken made the entire dish very hard to eat. Overall this was a decent brunch, mostly since we spent under $40 for so much food so it was a decent deal.

I had finished my last chemo at UCI and wanted to meet up with family that had driven and flown for dinner. Loved the restaurant location and the open atmosphere. Menu was a little limited, but I was very very pleased with the tenderness of my short ribs. So delicious everyone was pretty happy with their meal choices. In addition to the pictures. There was a chicken salad, a burger...but everyone also agreed that the short ribs were the best. We also ordered I forgot what it was called, but it was a purple cheesecake ($17) to go. It was pretty good too, although I think too expensive.

First time here and was a solid choice. They seem to specialize in burgers..but I got the gold medal chicken sandwich with a side salad. The sandwich was a tad salty so I removed some of the bacon. All the ingredients were fresh. Service was good. Dining area is big and open with high ceilings. Has a gastropub vibe... Parking was easy peasy. Plenty of parking in the free public lot about 2 blocks away. Also street parking if you are lucky.

I've walked by this restaurant numerous times when in Old Town Orange, but since it was a little later than usual, I thought I'd catch brunch this morning. They offer both indoor and covered, somewhat outdoor seating. There are tables and cushioned bench seating, but it's a little crowded. They have great booth seating on the right hand side, but that's set aside for parties of six. I didn't even ask. The atmosphere is casual. The menu is divided into food on one side and drinks on the other. There were couples and groups, including children, enjoying Sunday brunch. I could hear Sabrina Carpenter and Smash Mouth playing on the overhead speakers. I ordered a mimosa from the classic $5 cocktail menu. It was good and strong. For my main meal, I ordered the short rib chilaquiles, which comes with a side of sour cream. I added an egg for $1.99. It was delicious. The meat was shredded and mixed in with the tortilla chips. My egg was over medium as requested. I finished the entire thing. All the staff were friendly and efficient. Parking: Free, street parking.

Had a great first visit to Bosscat Kitchen and Libations. Came on a Thursday night around 8 p.m. and my friend and I were seated almost immediately, which was a perfect start. The ambiance was perfect with low lighting, a great crowd, and an overall pleasant vibe. Our server was very sweet and helpful. When she learned it was our first time, she shared some favorites across entrees and shareables. Everything sounded so good that we decided to go with a few shareables instead. The spicy chicken and cheese dip was salty, rich and flavorful. The pig candy was one of my favorites, and the maple butter Brussels sprouts were incredible and perfectly sweet. We paired everything with white wine and had an excellent experience from start to finish. Looking forward to coming back to explore more of the menu!

Once again Bosscat did it again! I came to Bosscat again after the amazing food and experience I had last time. Let's start with the service. We had an amazing server, I couldn't remember her name, but she was super sweet, attentive, and quick to offer recommendations on menu items including appetizers, entrees, and drinks. Let's move onto the drink. Our server recommended the pineapple sage elixir described as espolón blanco tequila, pineapple, sage, citrus. She shared that this drink tasted like a dole whip. When it came out, it was the perfect balance of bold, sweet, but flavorful. This drink was on the sweeter side, but you could also taste the tequila. And onto food! For an appetizer we ordered the male butter Brussels which were roasted brussel sprouts, crisped, tossed with a maple sauce, candied pecans and blue cheese. And all I have to say is WOW. The flavors in this dish were remarkable. For our entree we went with the same as last time, the short ribs as they did not disappoint. The short ribs once again were tender enough to cut with a fork. The sauce in top was a peppercorn sauce which was a nice addition of flavor. The garlic mashed potatoes were also amazing! Finally, the environment. This time was different as we brought a dog. The perk of Bosscat kitchen and libations is that they are pet friendly on the patio. The patio wasn't crowded and we were far enough away from other tables so we didn't feel crowded. I can't wait to come back for another great experience! I will add, since we came closer to the holidays the restaurant wasn't as busy and had plenty of parking on a weeknight.

This new location is super busy all the time. I recommend a reservation at least 2 weeks prior. I've been twice, both times for brunch. First time, I tried the Smokehouse Benedict. Heavy dish for sure, make sure you're hungry. Very flavorful and a fantastic combination of flavors. I also tried the Shrimp & Grita and tater tots, nothing spectacular or special about these two. Maui Meatloaf and Country Fried Steak, both looked amazing and my family members loved them both. The service was good but it little slow. It is pretty loud here, the masks the servers have to wear make it even more difficult to hear. I hope this changes soon. As for cocktails, the brunch menu doesn't have a large selection compared to their dinner menu. Kind of bummed about that. The Michelada was nothing special but I was craving it so I went ahead and ordered it with a Modelo, which is not my first beer option but is what they had. Anyway, I would like to come back and try the dinner menu but it'll have to wait because like I mentioned, it is always packed here. read more

Michelle was great this afternoon when the princess and I popped in for a quick drink. We got a call our Bully just finished his first grooming appt so we had to jet quickly, but we're always impressed with Bosscat. We've been coming to Bosscat since the OG MacArthur location and love supporting their Orange Circle location. We love the feel of the space as they retained so much of the original Rod's liquor here but built out so many fun spaces to dine and host groups in the front room. It's the best addition Orange has had in years and Michelle made our quick stay feel right at home. Impressed with everything Leslie puts her hands on, and this location is no different. Bosscat in Newport has been my favorite brunch spot for years, so I was thrilled to see this one open less than a mile from me! My husband and I gave this location a try this past Sunday and had a great time! The restaurant itself is beautiful and all of our servers/ bartenders were great, offering recommendations and chatting with us. We got some mimosas, the smokehouse benedict, and the donut burger for brunch. Everything was amazing! We didn't have reservations for brunch, but we got there early (about 15 minutes before they opened) and were able to get a spot at the bar, which is first come, first served. The bar filled up within the first 5 minutes of opening, so be prepared! Overall, we had an awesome experience and are looking forward to coming back soon! read more

Had a group dinner here. There is a parking structure a block away from the restaurant so if you can't find a spot right in front or on the side streets there's one not too far. We made a reservation but they have both inside & outside seating so it doesn't seem like a long wait even on a busy night. The waitress was nice and she came around several times to check on us. The food was okay but they were out of a lot of items so we had to make some adjustments to our order. We ordered dinner and dessert. The PB&J beignet we're dry and not worth the price. This place is mostly about the libations. There's lots of craft drinks. read more

Appetizer portobello mushroom "fries" are popular, and for good reason. Was fresh, hot and yummy. Comes with smoked jalapeno sauce, similar to a spicy sriracha. However, the fries were only a warm-up to the 12-hour Beef Short Rib and Barbeque Pork Loin entries, which were superb. The short rib was tender and the spicy BBQ, black pepper sauce was the perfect complement, but... the jalapeno polenta that came with the pork loin was aplenty and amazingly rich. Reminds me of mac 'n cheese, but much lighter. I could not get enough of the polenta and must have the recipe. Lastly, service was excellent. Place was busy but drinks from the bar came right away and food came out fresh from the fryer, pans, and stove. Server Justine D was friendly, thanked us for coming, and welcomed us to return soon. We will. Absolutely wonderful experience and look forward to future visits with family and friends. I've also heard wonderful things about their brunch on weekends. read more

The place is super cool and near my work. Great layout and very relaxing. I went with some coworkers on a weekday. I had their famous hamburger, my coworkers had various other items. The hamburger was overcooked (I asked for medium) to well done. The kale salad was awesome. The price was high for a famous burger that wasn't that great. Probably more of a place for drinks after work. read more

Honestly they aren't that gluten free friendly, I loved coming here before I found out about my gluten allergy but now I can't eat it and they really don't have any options and the server got really annoyed when I asked to modify something to make it gluten free. I'd only go here for drinks and not food if you have allergies read more

Love the bosscat in Costa Mesa so had to try out our new neighbor! Unfortunately, we did not have the experience others did here. Drinks: We ordered two cocktails, one bosscat and one old fashioned, both took awhile to come out and were very watered down, I sent mine back but he sucked it up (and shouldn't have because it was a $25 cocktail). They brought me another one which was better. Food: started with the poutine - LOVED. For entree's, we ordered the salmon and the steak. Asked for steak medium rare, came out rare. They sent it back and it came back 15 minutes later better but still a little too rare. The rest of the food was cold on the plate. It honestly just tasted like an Outback Steakhouse dish. Salmon was great, nice crust and the succotash was good. Multiple people came over to apologize for the steak which we appreciated, we don't like being those people that send stuff back but it all wasn't cheap. One person said that the steak was on the house, but upon receiving the bill, it was not on the house and they gave us a $10 coupon to come back (the steak plate was $34). It really just seems like they're working out all the kinks for just opening which I totally understand, but for $150 we should've had a much better experience. read more

Decided to try out this new spot in my hometown. Been to the other location by the beach, this place has a different but equally cool vibe. Food was off the charts good. Started with the pork hush puppies. Then moved on to the Bosscat Burger made "chef's way." Amazing does not begin to describe it. Cocktails were insane. Had the Bosscat and the BC Iced Tea. Both were delicious and the right amount of booze and flavor. Service was impeccable. Server (sorry man, didn't remember your name but you worked the patio Friday April 10 evening) was so polite, descriptive, and obviously loved his job. Made perfect recommendations all around. Please give this spot a try if you haven't already. You'll probably see me there. read more

It's located in the heart of old town orange. Parking is tough on the weekends. It's very cute inside and out. The place is super loud so dont go for an intimate evening or if you want to talk to your party. The high top table is very uncomfortable. I think it's a giant wooden cog so there are cut outs in the edge. Someone didn't think it through. Food was nothing to brag about...nothing memorable or worth going back for. We had the pork belly app and the country bread. The app was super dry (overcooked) and the country bread was nothing special. The avocado toast was hard and had no seasoning. Just avocado on hard bread. ???? The citrus pasta was ok but I think they forgot the citrus. Cocktails are the best thing here. I say if you have to go, get drinks and go elsewhere for dinner. read more

Is it weird that bosscat has my pregnancy brunch cravings down to a perfect match?! Both of my pregnancies I have craved those tots and delicious chilaquiles! My husband is all about the carafes of champagne and honestly can enjoy them for the both of us. My one recommendation is to make sure to make reservations if you don't want to have a long wait. read more

Delicious sandwich and the kale salad was good too. Needed more dressing off the bat. We asked for more and it was a lot better. The special drink the server suggested was very good. Food: is so mid I was disappointed. The servers recommended the chilequiles. It did not taste good at all. Lacked flavor, barely any meat, the avocado serving was comical because I had 3 diced squares of it. The fruity pebble French toast was much smaller than expected. It needed some syrup because there was only a drizzling of glaze. Seems like it was put together so quickly. We had a few other dishes and they weren't memorable. Service: was ok. We weren't attended to as well as expected. A few of us asked for hot sauce and we were given one. When we asked again the server seemed annoyed. My dear friend and I came here to celebrate his birthday dinner early Sun eve. Firstly I'd like to thank the fabulous server, MoMo who assisted us. She was the epitome of exceptional service due to her warm and gracious personality paired with her knowledge of the menu and efficiency. As for the food I had the California Citrus pasta which was packed with an array of flavors and textures from kale and heirloom tomatoes engulfed in the creamy noddles to the bed of grilled chicken and last but not least a sprinkle of semi crunchy Parmesan flakes!! He had the Cajun chicken on a bed of rice and side of green beans which is his go to when dinning at Bosscat. This is our go to option for a drink after we hit the local produce market on Saturdays. Excellent service from the bar staff and really enjoy the Bosscat cocktail. Find the menu for the brunch on Saturday lacking in appetizer and non-egg entree options that would get us to be regular diners here on weekends. read more

Ordered the cowboy steak which was decent but the sides left much to be desired with any form of seasoning. Great bartenders and solid cocktails so definitely come for the drinks. Rounded off the dinner with a smoke on the sidewalk and within a minute has the owner coming out to blame me for making the entire restaurant smell like smoke (not how that works). Maybe try the Irvine location instead, seems to be the better option. read more

It's sectioned off at the south east end of the lobby and feels like a more open space than a standard restaurant or bar and the vibe feels very OC, hipster, upscale. The only downside is the service is not consistent the last two times we've been here. The night we visited, there was a singer playing piano between the bar and restaurant area. I love entertainment at any venue, but the sound was way too loud for indoors and we couldn't hear each other talking. The reason I suggested The Peel for dinner was because I've been able to have conversations with friends and catch up without any competing noise from neighboring tables or crowds in the past. Maybe call ahead of time if there's going to be entertainment and if there's an event in town (Motocross was happening this weekend) to gauge the crowd and noise level before you go. The bar is fully stocked and they have a lot of craft cocktails to choose from and the drinks are consistently good. He took our orders, the food and drinks would show up, and after that we didn't see our server for a while, so we were without drink refills and our table had dirty dishes that just sat there. I glanced around a few times and saw no servers on the floor, a server that was not ours that was far away or would try to flag one down for a refill on our waters but they were quickly leaving the area. We were waiting on the check, but just kept talking instead and then finally, when the check came we were in mid conversation catching up. He stopped by a few minutes later, picked up the check and realized we had not put our cards down to pay it and came back and dropped it off again. We paid using Google-Wallet at their point of sale system and sat back down to finish our conversation and the busser asked if he could remove the dirty dishes on our table and said, in a rude tone, "Yeah because we're closed already." We didn't realize they were closed since there was still a large crowd of people at the bar, and he could have said that in a polite way and said thank you for coming, but he made it known he has to set his jars of jam down on the table for breakfast tomorrow. Honestly, had our server come by much earlier and checked on us and left the bill, we would've left before closing. I don't usually think of a hotel restaurant as a go-to for dinner with friends, but this is the only one in a while that I would recommend because the vibe is unique. Le Hut Dinette has a informative website which I tried to plan to, but it gave outdated information and is not being maintained: it gives incorrect open hours tied to brunch, lunch, and dinner. The hours on Yelp and Google are correct: 8am - 3 pm daily. Also the advice for parking is true: need to find street parking and at 8 am, it wasn't particularly easy, especially with the road construction happening. What we later learned from our server (because it is not listed on the menu or website) is that the only things served between 8 - 10 are things titled 'Breakfast Things' on the normal and daily special menu. The other items are served after 10 am till close. And the dinner menu listed on the website (which contained the items that I really wanted to try (arroz caldo, chicken inasal, beef rib)) are no longer offered at all. So we chose from the limited breakfast menu (since it was the only choice). French Toast ($13) - the key word in the menu description is custard. Later looking up custard french toast, learnt that the inside is supposed to taste like bread pudding or creme brule filling, so it matched. The large one piece tasted good, but after two bites, couldn't eat anymore: just too rich for any of us. Bacon and Egg Sandwich ($21). It was well prepared, but wasn't to my wife's taste, with thick slices of chewy (almost pork belly like) bacon, and tart green tomatoes. I ended up eating most of it, and it was OK: really good ingredients prepared well, but just not something I would normally order. Came with tallowed fried potatoes, basically boiled mini potatoes, smashed and fried in tallow on a grill. These were top notch. Pitmaster Slam ($37) - two thick slices of smoked brisket, two eggs, and the same great tallowed fried potatoes. The brisket is top quality carefully smoked, and would have been great if served after preparation, but tasted exactly what it was: reheated from the previous day fast, instead of very slowly which would have remelted all the beef butter nicely through the meat. It did come with some amazing toast: toasted blue corn sourdough from the next door 61 Hundred bakery. Service was OK but slow, friendly as I asked more questions after our meal, just to try to make myself feel a bit better for coming all the way out here. The dishes took a while to be prepared (30+ minute), so after a while, my wife and Mom went to the bakery next door to get bread while we waited. Like a diner, only drip coffee was offered (though a bargain at $1). No hot tea, only iced tea ($3). The dishes were all served together immediately, hot, which I appreciated. Nothing was done incorrectly, but nothing really stood out either (except for the two food items mentioned). It's a confusing dichotomy...looking at the website, it appears as a fine dining establishment, taking reservations through OpenTable ; requesting a credit card to hold the reservation; prices on the higher side; items no longer available because they are considered 'seasonal'. But the food, dining area, service is definitely that of a LA diner (though the speed of food prep wasn't).

I have gone the past 2 years and never had issues getting it on the first day. This year was different. I got there around 5:05 and walked into the shop to see a lot of tables empty. I was shocked to see that. I waited in line with maybe like two people in front of me and guess what they asked of Pliny was still available. The guy working said to the people in front of me that they sold out. It was my turn I asked if they had it and the guy said that they had a line since 3pm and that they sold out of the keg. We ended up getting two beers since we went anyways but that's when things didn't add up. He kept telling all the other people that started to show up the same thing. These are reasons why it didn't add up 1) empty seats inside but had a line since 3pm and beer was released at 4pm 2) I don't think the people going for younger would just order one beer and not try other RR beers? 3) only one guy working beer counter and having to clean the tables and make sandwiches? 4) 12 oz pours of beer and keg with about 1984 oz would make it 166 beers. No way they sold 166 beers in an hour with one person working the bar and shop empty in an hour. They could have posted on their instagram or socials that they sold out but failed to do so. I'm sure a lot of people all night were disappointed to see that they didn't have it or post anything about it.

The slice was very thin and I don't think it was 10 oz. The green beans were very good but the mashed potatoes were over whipped and starchy. The meat was a bit chewy. We both had med rare and that was right. The cost was 46.95 per dinner. It also came with Yorkshire pudding which was also delicious. I ordered a carrot cake ( my favorite) to go and the frosting was very thin. It used to be thicker. The inside is still nice but our booth seat needs some TLC.

Tldr Great place to impress on a first date with drinks and appetizers. Pros Not on the viral restaurant list to avoid. Excellent ambiance, service, and drinks Good food. Cons Higher than average price. Liquor signage outside is confusing This is a great place to go out if your significant other complains that you don't go out anymore. Get dressed up and go here to put a stop to that complaint. The outside has signs for a liquor store which confused me when trying to find the place but I'm easy to confuse. It used to be a liquor store which is why you see all the signs and the freezer on the wall. I was told the bullding used to belong to a man named Rod which is why you see Rod's name on the wall. They wanted to keep the historical aspects of the building so they Incorporated it into the design. The ambience inside is amazing. As far as food goes we ordered the pork belly poutine chicken potato chips and the mushroom fries. The food was crispy and flavorful. The mushroom had a delicate crunch to it. The fries on the poutine were crispy as well even with the gravy on it. The potato chips were so good I didn't really need the dip. These were heavy appetizers to go with our drinks. As far as the drinks go we ordered the boss cat boss lady and the old fashioned. All were well made drinks. They weren't diluted and they were flavorful. The service was excellent. Francisco was very attentive and responsive. Will definitely be coming back on a nice night out. The best part is once you're done you can walk around Old Town orange and enjoy other places as well. WHAT A GREAT EXPERIENCE! I had the most incredible experience at Bosscat Kitchen and Libations in Orange, all thanks to the exceptional bartenders, Matt and Tony! We celebrated my friend's bachelor party there, and they truly went above and beyond to make it a memorable evening. First, they impressed us with their extensive knowledge and passion for whiskey. Matt gave us a fantastic tour of their whiskey room, and his explanations about some of their rare bottles left us in awe. As whiskey enthusiasts, we couldn't have asked for a better selection. Not only did Matt and Tony excel in their whiskey expertise, that perfectly complemented our dinner., and they made sure each drink was tailored to our preferences. What truly stood out was the level of attentiveness and friendliness displayed by both bartenders. They made us feel like VIP guests throughout the entire evening. Their warm personalities and genuine care for our experience made us feel right at home. I can't recommend Bosscat Kitchen and Libations enough, especially if you're a whiskey lover. Hands down the BEST place to eat! I felt really safe eating at this restaurant and had such a wonderful time! The staff alone at this restaurant are the real deal (especially Manni and Terry). You can tell that all of them were absolute professionals at what they do and carried themselves with the utmost level of class and courtesy. I never even had to ask for any refill on my drinks. In addition, the chef personally came out to deliver my dish as it included a special allergy request. I found it very thoughtful for the chef to personally tell me that the dish I ordered was free of the particular food that I was allergic to and it really says a lot about the level of care that they have for their customers. As for the food? It will melt in your mouth and leave you feeling so complete. You have to try their pork belly poutine, shaved pork chop sandwich and fried apple pie! What I also loved was that the co-owner, John, took the time out of his busy schedule to talk to my family and I about the development of Bosscat and to receive our acclamation of the restaurant's performance. Rad vibes. It was a busy Friday night so started at the bar before I got seated. I got a shot of green chartreuse and a custom cocktail with Tony (we bonded over our shared name) before getting seated. Absolutely lovely bartender and we waxed on in length about his past as a D1 athlete in the minor leagues. Already, I felt like I was at home. Skyler was my server and he was absolutely impeccable, his recommendations and sharp attention made my night phenomenal. He was classy and sassy. I got the steak with a side of mac n cheese topped with an egg and short rib and I was in heaven. Skyler also randomly gave me a cut course in economics which I found hilarious. Drank some 130 proof bourbon, a mezcal new york sour, an exquisite smoked old fashioned, and finished off with a fernet/Oktoberfest boilermaker. Paired with a fried apple pie and my goodness, I left Bosscat a happy boy. Great whiskey, amazing food, and even better people. Don't sleep on this. read more

Food sucked! I went to the Newport location a few times and have always had a great experience. Meet family at this location for my first time and it was terrible. The flat bread we ordered was ice cold when it came out, the sliced tomatoes on top were mushy and not fresh and the flat bread tasted stale and was like a soggy hockey puck. The crispy chicken sandwich was also very disappointing. No flavor on the chicken. Literally took 2 bites and just left the rest. The fried oysters were good and the Mac and cheese was good but I didn't go to just enjoy these items. Hate to leave negative reviews but just think the management needs to know there was a problem with the food quality. This location near the Orange Circle has been a favorite of mine for years. I had the waffle chicken sandwich from their brunch menu this time, and it was exactly what I was craving--sweet and salty! The quantity and quality of their cuisine are well worth the cost, and the service is excellent. Due to the fact that this is a really popular place, particularly around happy hour and supper, I do advise making reservations if feasible. I adore their interior design, and I always await the arrival of new menu items. The short rib sandwich, which is usually included on their regular menu, is our favorite. We came to this place around 7:30 pm on a Friday and found ourselves waiting in line to either get a seat or be placed on the waiting list. The host was incredibly rude--she completely ignored us and seated new arrivals without even acknowledging we were there. When she finally returned, she didn't apologize for her behavior. She said something to my husband that he didn't understand, so I asked her to repeat it, and she seemed offended. Despite many empty tables, she claimed they were all reserved and took our number, but we never received any call or text for our table. Definitely not a good spot. Please never get the bosscat fries. They are thick and tasteless. They get cold fast and work with no sauce. Paid for a $22 burger that came dry and the comeback sauce had a funky taste. Everything is overpriced and what you are paying for is the atmosphere. The two redeeming factors that I loved are the mixed drinks and the service. Very lovely staff and well-made cocktails. I love my food, but had such a struggle finishing my plate. My girlfriend had a good chicken plate so perhaps not all the food is bad, but the price is the biggest pain. Only go there for happy hour. read more

What an exciting new addition to the neighborhood! I love that they kept the Rod's sign and are honoring their memory and influence on the community. The food is really unique and the servers have obviously taken care to learn all of the menu items. Tony in particular was so hospitable! Bosscat is a fairly solid restaurant in the heart of the Orange circle. It was the "it" restaurant a few years ago but has faded a bit, but this isn't necessarily bad as you can now walk in and get a table any time you wish. The food is above average and the cocktail menu is a real treat. They recently went through a change in ownership or focus it seems and some of the old menu items are no longer there. The poutine will be sorely missed but otherwise you can get a great burger there. The servers are attentive. read more

I stopped by this spot to catch up with an old friend after a year and had a fantastic experience. I ordered the classic Old Fashioned cocktail and the crispy chicken sandwich--both were excellent. While parking can be a bit of a nightmare, the food and cocktails make it worth the effort. This was my second visit, and it did not disappoint. Grand Opening!!! Nothing but great things to say. Had a fresh and cream cocktail to honor cinco de mayo - delicious. House fries are insane. Soup and grilled cheese was perfect.
