There's a ton of Italian places on the UES but this one, in particular, offers unique indoor and outdoor options. Upon entering the restaurant, there are dozens of infamous cocktail bottles lining the walls and tiles decorating and otherwise vibrant ambience. Outdoors, there are a few cozy tables as well contained within a confined space so that winter months allow for proper outdoor seating. Food spans a wide range of pizza and pasta options including traditional pizza margarita, Napoletana and funghi (mushrooms) drizzled in truffle oil. The pastas include your staple dishes of Arrabbiata, Caccio a Pepe and Carbonara with the gluten free option of rigatoni pasta (if you need). The portion sizes are very average and do not make you feel stuffed upon completing your meal. A menu fits onto a 1-page landscape mode followed by a robust drinks page. Although the the. food is tasty and decor is nice, there is not much pizzazz to the food taste. Some of the dishes require salt and the presentation is not unique. Botte has a great HH menu that includes cocktails, wine, beer, and food from 3-6pm. I love sitting at the bar area. Held my baby shower in the back room, it was a wonderful event, Botte was very accommodating with our guests and kids, the back room is decorated nicely so I only needed a few decorations. Botte recently opened in the UES and my friend and I were lucky enough to go opening weekend. We started with the Pomodoro Bruschetta and it was delicious. Just the right amount of garlic and olive oil and the bread was the perfect consistency. For mains, I ordered the Ravioli Alla Salvia and my friend had the Gnocchi Alla Sorrentina. I loved the ravioli and the my friend really enjoyed her gnocchi. It looks deceptively like a pizza, but is surprisingly light. We also ordered a side of Asparagus in an attempt to add some greens to our meal. We didn't really expect anything special, so we were surprised by how good they are - perfectly seasoned and just the right texture. The lighting and decor also make this a perfect date spot. It was a nice sized piece and it had good flavor. They offer additional parmesan cheese too. We ordered two dishes via Doordash and a garden salad from this restaurant. The order arrived promptly and was still quite warm. That was the best part. As for the quality of the food, in general it was blah for all three dishes. While my companion did like the thick and soupy vinagrette and the greens were good, the salad was over priced for its plainess. And plain, maybe institutional, like food you get in a college dorm, describes best the other two dishes. The Bolognese was ordinary and lacked any sense of vibrancy in terms of seasoning. The Orecchiette Salsicce & Rapini was pasty and also lacked seasoning or any sense of care. It all felt a bit our of a can. Even the parmesan, which was kindly provided, had no sense of sharpness or bite. This would have been fine for 1/2 to 2/3rds of the cost. But in the end with tip this was an almost $100 meal for three dishes and I should remember next time to cook at home and not be lazy. read more

I was ready to write this place off and never return, but the lasagna bolognese saved them. Me and my girlfriend arrived maybe 40 minutes before close on a Thursday night. Although it was cute inside, we felt it was too loud to easily converse and chose to sit outside in their covered seating. We ordered two violet femmes, calamari, the chicken parm, and the lasagna bolognese. The drinks were delicious and decently strong. The calamari was pretty good, but personally we wished it was fried for a bit longer. It wasn't quite as crispy as it should have been. The chicken parm was unremarkable. The pasta that came with it was too al dente. It was edible, but definitely chewier than it should have been. They got my order mixed up and brought out a tagliatelle alla bolognese for me instead. I had taken a bite of it before I realized it wasn't what I ordered. It was delicious, but in need of some cheese to top. When I told our waiter it wasn't what I ordered, he took it away. I waited with nothing to munch on but my girlfriends chicken parm while they got my order ready. The lasagna bolognese was delicious, melt in your mouth good. I kept feeding bites of mine to my girlfriend considering how unimpressive the chicken parm had turned out to be. When we finished and got the check, we ended up feeling rushed. Although there were plenty of people still inside, we were the only table being served outside. Our waiter popped by prematurely twice, clearly intent on leaving. He no longer had on his apron and was wearing his jacket, poised to leave the restaurant. It's okay. We saw all the positive reviews and decided to deviate from our normal Italian delivery and give Botte a shot. I think I like my normal place better. We had an assortment of meals as we wanted to try and share. Overall nothing bad, but nothing outstanding to justify the price. Was happily surprised to find this new Italian restaurant over on 1st Ave. The space is clean, modern and inviting, and food and drinks were good. The menu was the main thing that appealed- it is well laid out and there were pasta and pizza for under $20 (I get so annoyed by Italian places charging $30 for a bowl of pasta...). We shared an appetiser of burrata and tomatoes which was delicious, and then had the Diablo pizza and the carbonara pasta, both very good. For drinks I tried a cocktail (which admittedly came in quite a small glass but was nice), and we got had wine which was also decently priced. The service was good (borderline over-attentive, they obviously have a lot of staff working!) Our main waiter, Ben was helpful and gave us some good tips. Ok so first thing's first: As an Italian-American I can say, the food here, the pasta, is very, very good. Exceptionally good. I'd say 8.5 out of 10. Cooked perfectly. Great sauces. Everything we got was amazing. The only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 is because when my friend got here she asked the waiter, "Hey are these things part of the happy hour menu? I saw them on the website but don't see them here" And he just said, "yes". But what he didn't say is, "Happy hour only applies for seating at the bar not seating at tables". He should've been upfront about that and told us that instead of us finding out when the items on the check were full price and not charged at happy hour rates. Still, the food was really good. Not the best Italian food I've had in my whole life, but still exceptionally good. From the ambiance to the food, this place is everything you want in an Italian restaurant. We had the rice balls and they were crispy on the outside without being scorching hot inside, paired with a fresh marinara sauce. For dinner we had the cacio e pepe with the chicken parm and rigatoni. We swapped out the Pomodoro sauce for vodka sauce and WOW. If you love vodka sauce this place nailed it. The chicken parm was so tender and crispy on the outside, which is not always easy to come by, but the sauce didn't make it soggy at all. The rigatoni and spaghetti are both hand made pasta and you can taste the freshness. For drinks I got the viola which I highly recommend if you're a fan of gin or Negronis. I ended up coming back the next day for more rigatoni but also to try the fried calamari which everyone seemed to order. It was very crisp but not rubbery at all. This place is also in Astoria and Brooklyn, and those locations are on Seated for anyone who uses that app. read more

This is easily one of the best restaurants on the Upper East Side. I've tried lots on the menu, from chicken parm to gnocchi, and I've never been disappointed by the flavor or portion size. My favorite items are on the pizza side, especially the meatball pie and the vodka pie, which is sometimes a special. Botte has an awesome bar tender, James, that I have a great time chatting with. He's not only super friendly and attentive, but makes outstanding cocktails. I especially love his espresso martinis, blood orange Negronis, and special Italian sangria. read more

We held a private event, fundraising event at Botte recently and everything was fantastic! The food and drinks were delicious and plentiful and service was top notch. So many of our guests commented about how attentive and accommodating all the members of the staff were. The restaurant was packed every table, front of the house, the bar and the back of the house. There was three of us there, and I could not believe the friendly, helpful, and pleasant, not to mention EXCELLENT service. FOOD IS EXCELLENT. WE HAD EGGPLANT, PARM, CARPACCIO, ABSOLUTELY SUPERB FRIED ZUCCHINI and , BRUSCHETTA. Everything was delicious. We will definitely be going back.
