This place is a hidden gem that more people need to discover. The restaurant itself is very small but we were able to find a table for dinner Saturday without a wait. The owner was very friendly and took our orders himself. Calamari for an app was a great portion, slightly overcooked, but I was overall happy with it. We all ordered pasta dishes and absolutely loved them. There's a long list of sauces that you can pair with your pasta choice- I got the lobster ravioli with Roasantini sauce... DELICIOUS. A fair portion, a great price, and I finished the whole plate without feeling bloated and uncomfortable. I tried each guests' sauce and I would be very excited to try to Pesto Alfredo sauce next time I come. And on top of all of this, we got the tiramisu to go and it was delicious- very light and creamy.

Now food wise this place is a hidden gem right in the heart of Brookline village. The pesto alfredo is to die for, but how on gods green earth am I supposed to enjoy it without a glass of pinot grigio? If you're looking for good Italian in Brookline and need some wine to go along with it (ie, if you're mentally stable), don't bother with this place. No alcohol license. Order takeout and eat it at home.

Guys, we absolutely love this place! The service was amazing and the guy was so excited to talk to us. He even invited us to come back another day. The food was relatively inexpensive but it was really good quality. It came out hot, the portions were generous, and we really enjoyed it. We were the only customers in the shop at the time. The owner ended up pulling out a speaker and playing french (maybe italian) coffee shop ambiance music which really added to the good vibes of the place. I hope this place gets all the business it can and that man gets all the tips he can. Would 100% recommend this place to anyone !

One of the rare instances in which the service elevates the food. Judging only the dishes we got, I'd rank Bottega di Capri as closer to 3 stars but our waiter was so kind and grandfatherly and came by often with water refills/to see how we were doing. I can see why this place is popular in the neighborhood. Good for families, but if you're a large group, come here early. The space is small and they don't take reservations. By far the best things we ordered were the pastas - the seafood risotto and the linguine with scallops, clams, and shrimp. The risotto was fluffy and creamy and permeated with the briny seafood. Presentation was a little slapdash but the taste was undeniable. Overall, the prices were insanely affordable, almost pre-inflation levels - our seafood pastas were each less than $20. I wouldn't recommend the Caesar salad. Though the salad had wonderful, thick shavings of Parmesan, the dressing tasted store-bought. The house bread was also on the stale side. Don't skip the tiramisu. Not sure if they make it in house but it was one of the better iterations of the dessert I've had. Parking: Street options in front of the restaurant and a municipal lot one street over.

Visiting Boston from out of town and stumbled across this place in a local article and realized it was near our hotel. From the moment we walked in the service was great! Who we assumed to be the owner/manager of the establishment found us a seat right away even though it was a busy Friday night. The food was delicious! Both my husband and I loved our pasta and when we couldn't finish it and asked for boxes, the owner looked concerned , we assured him the food was amazing we were just stuffed! Overall really enjoyed this restaurant!!

Small Italian restaurant with delicious food and great service. Highly recommended! Ravioli is great. Would definitely come back again.

We ordered angel hair & shrimp and this was a mistake. The pasta was in a pool of oil and the bread was stale. We suspect the great reviews are based on the sandwiches.

Service was so beyond attentive, I would recommend it with that fact alone! We enjoyed the bruschetta, two pieces was large enough to split between two people. Then a cold Italian sub and Caprese sub. Delicious. All around an incredible hole in the wall that I would love to return to some day. Small, limited tables, but you are served here, not cafe order up front style

However, I don't know that it lived up to the hype that I anticipated. We got the pizza Bianca with ricotta with hot honey, which was basically just like plain toasted focaccia and ricotta (wasn't anything to write home about). The taleggio was 100% our least favorite and we didn't even finish half. We had asked the waiter to describe taste profile, which they said was a "little funky" and had asked for clarification if it was closer to blue cheese. Once it arrived, it was like a verrrrrry strong/stinky Brie on the inside. The balsamic didn't really contribute to the taste at all. Sad that we didn't like this/kinda made me feel yucky after eating. The cavatelli was very good- nice light creamy sauce with the sausage and bitter broccolini. Very well balanced. Forgot to take a pic of the tiramisu but it was good, too! It's kinda salty (they add sea salt to the top). Drink menu was limited. Had two different glasses of red wine but wish they had something more full bodied on the menu!

My guess is that this is more of an evening destination where people come for cocktails and the atmosphere rather than lunch. We ordered a Diet Coke, the Scampi appetizer, Carbonara, and the Rigatoni Alla Vodka. The scampi was easily the best part of the meal. It was flavorful, cooked well, and made for a nice appetizer to start things off. Unfortunately, the pastas didn't quite meet expectations, especially considering the price. The Rigatoni Alla Vodka was $28, but the pasta wasn't cooked al dente and felt overdone. The Carbonara, also $28, was disappointing as the eggs had curdled and the dish ended up being much oilier than I expected. At $18, the scampi was enjoyable, but overall I don't think the food justified the price point. One bright spot was the service. Our waitress was incredibly kind, checked in on us frequently, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a very aesthetic design. I can definitely see why it's popular on social media. There is also outdoor seating, which I imagine would be a nice option on a warm summer evening. One thing I did notice, though, is how closely the tables are spaced together. Since the restaurant was mostly empty during our visit it wasn't an issue, but I could see it feeling crowded and fairly loud once the dining room fills up. I was honestly surprised by the meal because Gigi is part of the Mazi Restaurant Group, and I've really enjoyed some of their other concepts, especially Kava Neo-Taverna. Based on this experience, though, I think there are plenty of Italian restaurants in Boston that offer better food and better value for the same price. Overall, I'd give Gigi 3/5 stars. The service and atmosphere were both strong, but the food didn't live up to the pricing. If I came back, it would probably be for drinks, appetizers, and the ambiance rather than a full Italian dinner.

The philosophy here is simple: handmade pasta, fresh seafood, and the kind of lively trattoria energy that makes you feel like you wandered into something real rather than something staged for tourists. We walked into a small, intimate space that feels authentically old North End, with street level seating and a downstairs dining room that fills up fast on most nights. The energy when it gets loud and busy only adds to the warmth of the room, making the meal feel more fun rather than overwhelming. If you are looking for a quiet, candlelit dinner, timing your visit carefully or requesting a window table upstairs is worth doing. The vibe otherwise is bustling and inviting, the kind of place where the noise level actually enhances the experience. The pasta is where things really shine. The truffle mushroom ravioli is outstanding, the kind of dish that stays with you, and the lobster diavolo has real depth and kick to it. The seafood plate, loaded with scallops, shrimp, sea bass, salmon, lobster, and calamari over fettuccine alfredo, is a serious undertaking in the best possible way. The zucchini flowers are delicate and worth ordering if they are available. Bread comes to the table, and the drinks are solid. On the flip side, some of the simpler pasta dishes can feel under seasoned compared to the more composed plates, and the pricing reflects the neighborhood, so you are not walking out cheap. Service is generally warm and attentive, with a mix of staff that has that authentic Italian restaurant feel. The pacing moves at a good clip, sometimes a little fast, but the energy of the room makes it work. For a North End dinner that delivers on homemade pasta and fresh seafood without trying too hard to be anything other than what it is, Trattoria Il Panino is a solid pick. Reservations are a good idea.
