    Verde Pizza with pepperoni
    Chelsea J.

The verde pizza with pepperoni is in the top 3 pies I've ever had. It's a major flavor bomb, yet very simple. We ordered next door from Crooked Tooth and got a text about 10 minutes later saying it was ready. They have a window to walk over and pick up. The crust had the perfect chew, the cupping pepperoni was perfectly crispy and the pesto type sauce added a ton of flavor. Next time I'd get it without pistachios, they were a great addition, it's just a personal preference. 10/10 recommend.

The ambiance was very trendy, the service was warm and exceptional. We ordered focaccia that was divine. Yellow watermelon salad with hibiscus drizzle that was sublime. Smashed crispy potatoes. Margherita pizzas with pepperoni had thin wood fired crust. Very delicious ingredients

A real gem in the city. The décor is humble at first glance, but when you pay attention to the details--wooden furniture, USA-made ceramic plates--you can tell this place really cares about quality. We ordered two vegetable starters: the beetroot salad and the roasted stems. Both had very thoughtful, sophisticated flavors that you don't come across easily. We also had the margherita pizza--simple on paper, but executed perfectly. The dough was crispy on the outside while staying fluffy inside, the tomato sauce was well-balanced and didn't overpower the cheese, and the crispy basil added a nice depth to the overall flavor. The only downside for me personally was that everything leaned a bit oily. I can tell it's intentional--probably used to finish the dishes--but it's just more oil than I'm used to. Service was excellent. The staff were friendly in a relaxed, genuine way, but also very attentive. They timed the pizza perfectly, bringing it out right after we finished our starters and straight from the oven. That level of attention is something you usually only see in fine dining.

Anello strikes that rare balance between rustic and modern without feeling forced. The space feels intentional, cool, and grounded--exactly the kind of pizza spot that draws you in and makes you want to stay awhile. I'll be honest, my experience didn't start perfectly when it came to ordering and timing, but what mattered most is how it was handled. The team smoothed everything out, no defensiveness, no attitude--just solid service and care, which goes a long way. Now the pizza. They have a vegan option that absolutely holds its own, and the sauce deserves its own moment--bright, balanced, and packed with flavor. Every bite tasted intentional. This is the kind of pizza that reminds you how good simple ingredients can be when done right. Anello easily gets my vote as one of the top pizzerias in town, and it's a place I'll gladly return to--rough start and all, because the finish was worth it.

I'm a Neopolitan-style pizza lover and I've found no better than Anello in Tucson. They deliver delicious pizzas and rotating menu items. I'd recommend giving one of their market pizzas a try if you're lucky enough to order before they sell out. (Which is frequently and very quickly.)

I was really excited to try Anello because I've heard so many great things about their pizza. I'm not sure if we caught them on a bad day but I didn't quite see what all the hype was about. When we arrived, the place was packed and there were no seats available. I wasn't upset about that at all. If anything, it seemed like a good sign that the restaurant is popular so made me even more excited to check out their pizza. From what I could see inside, it looked nice and felt like it would be a great spot for a date night. Since there was no seating, we went to Crooked Tooth next door instead because you can order online and pick up food to eat there. We tried the Bianca and the Marinara. We added pepperoni to half of the Marinara so we could still experience the pizza as it was originally intended. The pizza wasn't bad but it also wasn't very filling. Overall, it was just kinda average.

The food is consistently outstanding, creative and delicious! The servers and staff are working hard to make sure people enjoy their experience and their meal. The small but clean dining room is a perfect juxtaposition to the big flavors and creativity on every plate and pie! Seasonal Vegetables- Onions with blue corn masa chips, crème fraiche, mesquite honey, roasted pecans and a scallion condiment. HOLY FLAVOR BOMB! Seasonal Salad- Cucumbers with a lime vinaigrette, sesame seeds, ricotta salata cheese, parsley and mint. Verde Pizza- Smoked mozzarella, parsley sauce, garlic and pistachios. Sounds like a lot but it's an expert pairing!!! Blue Corn Lemon Tart- Blue corn crust, smooth lemon curd, whipped cream and lavender garnish. We had been anticipating this all week.

I ordered online for a 2pm pickup and it was ready on time. I had the Bianca and the Margarita pizzas. They were great. The Bianca with the slices of garlic and fresh mozzarella was very good. Service was friendly

In Tucson for the weekend and three separate waiters at different restaurants insisted, we must try Anello. They were not wrong! Located in a small and unassuming building on a main drag, Anello has limited seatings with approximately 30 spots. This may cause havic moving forward as Anello will be known as TOP SHELF dining. The chef studied in Japan and spent four years working for Chris Bianco, Arizona's pizza guru. We went for lunch so reservations were not required. We selected the salad and a Margherita pizza to which ww added cupped pepperoni. The salad was the best salad we've had this year. Orange honeydew melon slices stacked with a homemade dry mint yogurt, champagne vinegarette, roasted almonds, and a hint of olive oil drizzle. This was savory, cool, refreshing, light and an incredible taste profile. I could of ordered two easily and will try to replicate at our next dinner party. ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! The Margherita pizza with basil, mozzarella, tomatoes and cupped pepperoni was "The Perfect Pizza". The dough was thin, crispy, held its form, airy crust and the perfect chew. In a perfect dream, this is THE pizza. The chef obviously studied well and in my opinion has out surpassed his teacher, a very high bar. I want to thank the Tucson dining establishment staff for directing us to this true Tucson gem. Hands down our favorite and best restaurant in town. To the chef at Anello, pizzas are amazing and the salad was great. We wish you continued success and want to say thanks for a memorable meal. We will be back frequently.

This place is a hidden gem (literally). It can be hard to find due to the lack of signage, but once you do, you'll be glad you did. The atmospheres is super chill and th food is out of this world. Absolutely amazing job well done. The salads, pizza, and drinks were amazing. Service was great too. Our service was very friendly. The verde pizza was unlike any other and had an amazing texture, flavor, and perfectly chewy crust. The Margherita pizza was a classic and so flavorful. You can taste the quality ingredient. I also enjoyed a cocktail that was so fresh. I can't wait to go back and try more items on their menu. Highly recommend. Cheers!

The staff was really friendly and they explained their menu, as we were first timers. They gave good suggestions. Limited seating and mostly crowded. Best Wood fired thin crust pizza

First time trying Anello, and I will be going back. The grapefruit and celery salad was amazing, and the pizza was even better. I cannot even begin to describe how delicious the dessert was. I absolutely love the changing menu. I'm glad to have finally give them a try. You should too!

We're coming to Tucson to see a play tomorrow. Would I be able to make a reservation for four people?

I believe you can! Let them know you are coming in from out of town and mention the time. Hello@anello.space

    Is there parking available?

Somewhat, there is back in parking available right next to their takeout window. If that area is full, there is parking behind the brewery right behind it too

Are the pizzas for just one person in size?

Hi Thaddeus, I would say the pizzas can be shared by two. They are 6 slices/pizza.

The estimated wait for two was 10 minutes so we grabbed drinks and headed upstairs to their cute/loft lounge. As we passed the entrance we already heard the host increasing wait time to 20 minutes. For drinks she had got the house red cabernet and for me the bartender and I whipped up a little custom cocktail (see pic). Moments later our table was ready. Note: Penelope operates on a novel "community-waiter" system so don't be confused if a totally different person comes by to: take appetizers, check on you, order entrees, check on you again, and order dessert! We've often had four different staff during a meal here and all are super friendly with experience-filled opinions about everything on the menu. We ordered the Burrata and Tomatoes app which arrived in barely 5 minutes - the cheese is traditionally mozzarella-like but here it was almost ricotta-soft... and melded deliciously with the mildly acidic slices of ripe tomato and lots of pistachio pesto (nice twist chef!). We split the Sgt Pepper pizza this time, craving both sausage and roasted chilis. It arrived in 15 minutes with ample sausage and just a few burnt bubbles (totally ok because we know these thin-crusts must be flash broiled at super high temps (around 1k degrees). We demolished the 'za but both of us would like to have seen a bit more green chili. We were looking forward to the olive oil cake however, at 7pm, they had just sold the last slice (confirmed by our "second dessert waiter" who wandered by a few minutes later ;) Atmosphere is casual-elevated and sound levels aren't bad despite the density of tables - likely due to the 20 foot tall ceilings. Parking is free/easy in their private lot and it appears they do a popular takeout business too. We are both looking forward to their return to downtown this fall with Penelope's II !

We were seated right away since it wasn't busy, and things started off simple enough with bread and oil. We asked for parmesan to go with it, and our server seemed unsure how to respond, eventually bringing out packet parm even though fresh was clearly available. Not a huge deal, but we found it odd. A little later, we asked for more bread. The server told us they were out but, "that they could probably make more". . He relayed it to the woman handling bread, who then made more for another table and skipped us entirely. He mentioned it again to her when he saw us looking in their direction. she looked over, and still nothing. It was awkward, since the restaurant is the size of a closet. Once the pizza came, we got up ourselves to ask for more oil and parmesan, since our waiter hadn't come to check back. We got the oil instantly since we brought us the bowl, but no parmesan. At one point my son asked for bread, again, finally it came and the server literally tossed it on the table without a word. We said thank you and he completely ignored all of us. It didn't get any better from there. The bill was dropped on the table without a word either. My husband and I kept looking at each other with confused looks. We turned the bill in with our CC, and once the server returned it, same thing, not a single interaction. We also watched the same server make another table feel like an inconvenience over something as simple as asking for a bottle of Coke instead of a can. The customer ended up backing down just to avoid the hassle. The server then told the guest, "it's fine, I can get it for you!" On top of that, staff were wearing gloves while handling food, but also touching chairs, phones, and other surfaces; kind of defeats the purpose I think? My boys also had a weird interaction with a staff near the bathrooms who was very rude to them and accused them of cutting the line, despite no one waiting. It was very strange. Bottom line: the food is incredible, no question. But the service was so bad it's hard to ignore. Best advice, get it to go and skip the experience inside.

We ordered the butter pecan salad which was amazing. Loved everything about it, I was hesitant that they only had butter lettuce but I think I appreciated the soft lettuce with the crunch of the apple and pecans in it. The dressing was phenomenal. For a pizza we got just the pepperoni, I saw a lot of margarita pizzas with pepperoni being made and I think we would've liked that option better with the fresh chunks of mozzarella. The cheese they use for the regular pizza is a very strong flavor, probably a nice aged parm so that really came through. We are sauce people so it was hard to appreciate the sauce with the strong profile of the cheese which is why I think we would've liked the margarita pizza better We had the panna cotta for desert and my husband LOVED it. The sauce was excellent I believe was some sort of a garlic/oil white sauce the mushroom portion was generous which I absolutely love, and the crust was exactly what I look for crunchy on the outside while still soft and slightly sweet inside. My only minor complaint with the toppings is that the $4 pepperoni add on felt a bit light, we only had a 2 or 3 slices per piece. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that our pizza was just slightly overcooked. The bottom was charred all the way around; wasn't burnt to the point of sending it back, but definitely left in the oven a minute or two longer than it needed to be. It wasn't busy when we visited, and it seemed like the employee rotating pizzas was a little more focused on chatting with FOH coworkers than keeping an eye on the oven. I've worked in pizza restaurants for nearly a decade, so I may be a bit more particular than most customers. Realistically, if our pizza had come out even a minute earlier, it would have been a 10/10 meal. That said, I enjoyed my visit and will definitely be back. I ate 1.5/4 pieces out of hunger alone, but it wasn't even worth taking the rest home. Despite the sad GF pizza, I'd definitely come back and try something else if in town again.

It's been a minute but another wonderful experience. We got the meat lasagna ($23) and calzone ($12…read more+ $8.50 for meatball topping). And she tried their Old Fashioned cocktail ($16). Food arrived just 15 min later and was piping hot and delicious. The lasagna is a good sized portion (roughly 5x7) and is generously filled with meat. Taste is amazing with medium-firm pasta and a nice crust across the top and sides. The ricotta calzone came with a side of marinara (yay) for dipping as there is no sauce inside. Roughly 2 dozen toppings are available, ranging from $3-$8+. I opted for the meatballs ($8.50) and was slightly disappointed. The meatballs are crumbled within the calzone (understandable) but not pronounced in quantity. I would prefer larger pieces (halves work at this size - after all I ordered meat-ball not meet-ground ;) However, for $8 (a 75% upcharge) my chief gripe is that I was simply expecting more. Next time pepperoni/mushrooms! Ambiance is lovely and waitstaff were awesome -- gracious, knowledgeable about menu specifics, and attentive. Parking is free/easy at this corner of a small strip mall. Can't wait to try their new Detroit menu too! Note: due to Rene's smaller size (less than 10 tables total) and high demand, all reservations (any day) require a credit card to hold. This is entirely understandable as even one no-show is a measurable hit to keeping a full house. I also have kids yet 100% embrace their patio-only policy when with kiddos. This literal mom/pop venue (they have kids too) tries to do the impossible balance between clientele and intimate, high-end dining (we simply accommodate by getting take out when feeding the Whole family ;)

The murals on the walls are super cool too. I loved how they had hand sanitizer at the table. Seating is pretty limited, so I'd definitely make a reservation. Service was great and everything tasted super fresh. We ordered the Meatballs & Jalapeño Cream, Spinach & Artichoke Dip, Garlic Knots, Papas con Queso Pizza, Penne Arrabbiata, and Tiramisu. Everything was amazing but my favorites had to be the meatballs and the pizza. Only downside was that they were out of lemonade, which I really wanted to try. But the food was so good that I'lol for sure be back, so I'll just grab it next time.

I went here on a Saturday for…read morelunch and despite the summer heat the patio was shaded and breezy thanks to some overhead water misters. The kitsch level is high but so is the quality. You order at the window and it seems like they bake it fresh. We waited maybe 15 minutes for hot out the oven pizzas. I was so impressed with the quality ingredients and the sizes of the slices! They're not lying about the size. These are GIANT slices. Just 1 slice is enough for an adult or teen. My littlest needed to break it into two meals.

As my husband and…read moreI walked up, we walked inside a small seating area, then came back out to the bar area, looking for where we should order or get menus. After a bit, a customer at the bar greeted us and gave us a tip on how big the slices of pizza were. Soon after, we realized where the menus were, followed by a server at the bar greeting us and giving us information. I was glad for his help, but there was a good whike in between that I feel was a little weird and lacking of service. They have a small indoor seating area where you can also get fountain drinks, as well as an outside covered patio that has a couple ceiling heaters throughout . You order at a window near the bar, then seat yourself. Your food is done brought to you. We attempted to order a couple slices of the specialty pizza, only to be told that the specialty pizzas could only be ordered as a whole pie. So we ordered a 12 inch pizza half company combo and half carnivore. We also got an order of the sweet chili wings . The sweet chili wings were cool, not bad, but also nothing to brag about. The pizza I was actually disappointed in... it reminded me of pizza from the frozen aisle at the grocery store. It was thin and had a crunch at the bottom. I will say that I like my pizza dough, thicker, so that probably affected my opinion of their pizza as well. Glad I tried it, but don't think I will be back.
