But this time, I had a pesto pizza during lunch hour which was very salty and couldn't enjoy the main flavor unfortunately. So many things to love, including that it endeavors to remain quirkily undiscovered. There is no visible signage so you'll need to deliberately be told to seek this place out (awesome)... and it's worth it. Because of it's tiny venue and big reputation you will likely never walk in and get seated right away. Never. Fear not, they do a brisk take-out business but you must walk around the corner (20 steps) to their side window where pickup orders are placed. Bonus: Crooked Tooth Brewery (a cool industrial bar) is directly across the alley and you are allowed to bring your pizza and eat it there. We were catching a play at the Rogue and sought something within walking distance, hello Anello! With their rotating, locally-sourced menu, we ordered what was new: seasonal roasted veggies ($11) - incredible; coupled with our fav Verde pizza ($17) + pepperoni ($4). And two Old Fashionables ($13) - strong, delicious, and not too sweet. We split their one-size pizza (roughly 12" medium) in order to save room for their famous, rotating desserts. Their 'zas are super thin crust and really need to be eaten straight from the oven so that the bottom never has a chance to get soggy. The pesto/parsley puree was divine and a nice change from traditional marinera. It paired nicely with the savory/plentiful mini pepperonis too. We were torn between the olive oil cake and the blue corn lemon tart... so we got both! ($9 each). An excellent call as we carefully paced our way through, one slow bite at a time. Service was outstanding and we never felt rushed. This is a small, local, eatery with a blooming reputation for both quality and creativity that honestly deserves Bib Gourmand consideration - although I would rather it remain off the grid! Clearly Anello has taken the crown for the best pizza in Tucson. They are hard to find (no signage) and have a limited menu, but what they do, they do extremely well. This is not the kind of pizza you want to carry out. The bottom crust is so thin and delicate, it will wet out in 15 minutes. This is pizza you order and eat on-premises immediately. I ate my pizza in a fashion I have never done before - I broke off a piece of the outside crust to use as a carrier for a piece of filling. This worked well. The crust is perfectly light and airy. Next time I have to try a loaf of their bread - it looked incredible. If you are a pizza purist you will love this place. read more

The verde pizza with pepperoni is in the top 3 pies I've ever had. It's a major flavor bomb, yet very simple. We ordered next door from Crooked Tooth and got a text about 10 minutes later saying it was ready. They have a window to walk over and pick up. The crust had the perfect chew, the cupping pepperoni was perfectly crispy and the pesto type sauce added a ton of flavor. Next time I'd get it without pistachios, they were a great addition, it's just a personal preference. 10/10 recommend. read more

A real gem in the city. The décor is humble at first glance, but when you pay attention to the details--wooden furniture, USA-made ceramic plates--you can tell this place really cares about quality. We ordered two vegetable starters: the beetroot salad and the roasted stems. Both had very thoughtful, sophisticated flavors that you don't come across easily. We also had the margherita pizza--simple on paper, but executed perfectly. The dough was crispy on the outside while staying fluffy inside, the tomato sauce was well-balanced and didn't overpower the cheese, and the crispy basil added a nice depth to the overall flavor. The only downside for me personally was that everything leaned a bit oily. I can tell it's intentional--probably used to finish the dishes--but it's just more oil than I'm used to. Service was excellent. The staff were friendly in a relaxed, genuine way, but also very attentive. They timed the pizza perfectly, bringing it out right after we finished our starters and straight from the oven. That level of attention is something you usually only see in fine dining. read more

I had good food here. I really enjoyed their pannisa (Ligurian style street food form NW Italy) It is a chickpea based "polenta" that is fried and is perfectly crispy outside while remaining soft inside. I have had Italian chickpea based Farinata before on it's own when I made it at home or inside a delicious sandwich on a connection at the Rome airport and I thought they did a really good job frying the Pannisa here. I also liked the sauce they serve it with here: tart sauce with basil and herbs. I felt the the serving size was small for $8 . I enjoyed trying it here but will probably not get it more than once at that price per serving size. They serve it with cheese typically but I asked for no cheese to make it vegan. The guy that took my order at the window seemed very confused/ weirded out when I asked if they charge a fee to pay with credit card. He generally wasn't very helpful or communicative and seemed generally bothered by questions. He also didn't think to mention they don't have disposable silverware for to go order (my pannisa was drenched in sauce- delicious but I definitely ended up going inside to eat it with a fork). Another staff member seemed more pleasant though and more willing to answer basic questions politely. On another earlier visit I tried their focaccia. It is a sourdough focaccia with roasted red pepper jam, rosemary and garlic. Typically it has ricotta too which I asked to remove. I loved the dough and garlic. The jam was good too, maybe a tad sweet for me though. It reminded me a tad of sweet and sour sauce. They have a margarita pizza without cheese available on the menu too. I didn't try these yet but liked seeing that they served some interesting non alcoholic beverages like cocoa soda with cocoa husk or cola dosa with Guajillo chiles and citrus. From what I tried and seen on the menu it feels that they serve good quality food and drinks. Service can definitely be improved. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! I was really excited to try Anello because I've heard so many great things about their pizza. I'm not sure if we caught them on a bad day but I didn't quite see what all the hype was about. When we arrived, the place was packed and there were no seats available. I wasn't upset about that at all. If anything, it seemed like a good sign that the restaurant is popular so made me even more excited to check out their pizza. From what I could see inside, it looked nice and felt like it would be a great spot for a date night. Since there was no seating, we went to Crooked Tooth next door instead because you can order online and pick up food to eat there. We tried the Bianca and the Marinara. We added pepperoni to half of the Marinara so we could still experience the pizza as it was originally intended. The pizza wasn't bad but it also wasn't very filling. In Tucson for the weekend and three separate waiters at different restaurants insisted, we must try Anello. They were not wrong! Located in a small and unassuming building on a main drag, Anello has limited seatings with approximately 30 spots. This may cause havic moving forward as Anello will be known as TOP SHELF dining. The chef studied in Japan and spent four years working for Chris Bianco, Arizona's pizza guru. We went for lunch so reservations were not required. We selected the salad and a Margherita pizza to which ww added cupped pepperoni. The salad was the best salad we've had this year. Orange honeydew melon slices stacked with a homemade dry mint yogurt, champagne vinegarette, roasted almonds, and a hint of olive oil drizzle. This was savory, cool, refreshing, light and an incredible taste profile. I could of ordered two easily and will try to replicate at our next dinner party. ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! The Margherita pizza with basil, mozzarella, tomatoes and cupped pepperoni was "The Perfect Pizza". The dough was thin, crispy, held its form, airy crust and the perfect chew. In a perfect dream, this is THE pizza. The chef obviously studied well and in my opinion has out surpassed his teacher, a very high bar. I want to thank the Tucson dining establishment staff for directing us to this true Tucson gem. Hands down our favorite and best restaurant in town. This place is a hidden gem (literally). It can be hard to find due to the lack of signage, but once you do, you'll be glad you did. The atmospheres is super chill and th food is out of this world. Absolutely amazing job well done. The salads, pizza, and drinks were amazing. Service was great too. Our service was very friendly. The verde pizza was unlike any other and had an amazing texture, flavor, and perfectly chewy crust. The Margherita pizza was a classic and so flavorful. You can taste the quality ingredient. Excellent pizza and good service. You have to email for reservations and cannot call them at all. We had a reservation and hoped to move it earlier but when we walked in they said they couldn't. We went next door to have a beer while we waited; I wish they had told us we could order takeout and have it there, as some people were doing. We sat down around 7:30-7:45 and they were out of all the vegetables. So there were no options for cooked vegetables. (We had salad for lunch and didn't want a salad.) We tried two of the desserts and they were OK. The almond olive oil cake was sort of burned on the outside and I assumed that was just how it was, but then our same server was cautioning the table next to us about that char -- I don't know why they deserved a notice and we didn't? I would go back for the pizza but don't know about anything else - still, we did enjoy the meal overall. read more

Imunna be honest, this isn't your typical pizza joint where you can bring your whole family and expect a million things to order off of the menu. Bring a pal, have some pizza though, and you'll be good. That's what I did on my 2nd visit. The first one, there were 10 of us in a teeny space. This is not a place for groups, however, we did order almost every pizza on the menu so that was a plus. On my 2nd visit, pal and I shared a Margherita pizza and some olives and we loved our meal. I am a fan of thin crust, NY style, whatever you want to call it, with a couple of toppings, not a supreme, clog your lower intestines, thick crust business. That's just me. If you happen to go to Crooked Tooth Brewing next door, they will gladly walk over and deliver your order to you. Staff is super chill. You can park on the street or in the alley. I just love Anello! Their seasonal sides are so unique, and it's always exciting to see what sorts of vegetables will be included. Their deserts change up as well. It's a lovely little space that feels cozy and I'm totally willing to plan ahead to make a reservation. Tried this for the first time and all of us agreed it's in our top 5 best pizzas of all time. We did no research before we showed up and didn't realize how small the dining area is so prepare for an 1hr+ wait if you don't have a reservation. Not a big deal considering they have a walk up window and work with the brewery nextdoor to offer more seating and drink options. Staff was super nice and helpful. Anello is in the Sonoran Restaurant Week rooster and we decided to give it a try. Their menu was very small compared to other restaurants and it's $35. We ordered the Seasonal salad (very interesting flavors that marinated very well together), the Pizza (had fontina, red onions, lemon chutney, fresh chilis, prickly pear creme) was not my favorite but their dough is really tasty. For dessert they had the Monsoon White Chocolate (with a lot of smokey flavors, not my favorite to be honest). I think they could improve their menu for Restaurant week because their regular pizzas are wonderful. The service was great considering how busy they were and remember to always make reservations because this beautiful place is very small and always busy. read more

Great food and ambiance. What do you say when you can't find the words to describe the food? I happened upon Anello because one of my fave food truck operators and chef Will works here. Shout out Bisou Burger. I enjoyed some of the bites. A carrot salad and the tepary black beans and roasted okra. Yum. Everything was seasoned to my liking and it was like having a party in my mouth. I was in house for 2025 Sonoran Restaurant Week. Yay - had the pizza and the dessert (see pics - although I forgot to take a pic of the dessert-eeeek!) The crust was light and fluffy and the toppings were perfect. I had a great red wine. I also had a chance to try their lemon tart. It was absolutely divine. Great mix of tartness and sweetness. The ambiance was great. I enjoyed the community table and had a great conversation with someone I sat next to.
