A hair in my chowder put me off on Boudin until very recently, because I like the food and it had been a few years since that incident. So, I've been doing mobile pickup a lot. The second to last time I was there, the (pretty lethargic) kid who got my order together forgot a cup of chowder so I had to call and drive all the way back from across town to get it. He gave me a bread bowl with it to compensate, which was great. But then the next time I went -- last week -- I paid online, came over to pick up, and was told they were out of bread bowls. And spoons! Wow. I asked for a refund for just the bread bowls, at least, because I had paid the extra money for them, and the woman at the register dismissively told me I'd get an email the next day confirming my refund. I waited and got nothing. I had to leave the manner on the back burner because I was out of town, but now it's been a week and I have to unfortunately chase down the measly three dollars and feel like the bad guy while doing it. Foods ok at best sandwiches are super lean on meat & cheese coving about 1/3 of the bread, soup is bland but expectations were not that high so it is what it is when going to a chain place like this. Really though clean up the restaurant food all over the floor, soda area dirty, table & chairs being wiped with dirty rags, child's highchair disgusting and caked with food these are all easy fixes no excuse for this. read more

Where do I start. I ordered online, confirmation page came up that told me when to pick up but I hadn't checked my email yet. I go to the store and give them my name, and told them what my order was and the couldn't find my order anywhere and said I never ordered anything. My credit card had already been charged $27 for a salad and a sandwich so naturally, I wanted my food. The manager was there and everyone was working on getting other orders out and completely ignored me for a solid 10 minutes. By that point I was fuming bc no one was working to help figure the situation. I told them if they weren't going to do anything that I was just going to dispute with my credit card. This set the manager off. He's a big man and came yelling and screaming at me waving his arms and freaking out at me like it's somehow MY fault they didn't have my order. It was terrifying. If there hadn't been a table between us, he would have physically hit me. The rage and violence was so bad I just walked out and considered calling the cops. Long story short, we disputed the charge and immediately were refunded. I will NEVER go there again. Supporting a man who gets violent with his customers is not something I can do. Came here after a visit to the outlets to try out their new chicken pot pie. SO DISAPPOINTED. First, the kitchen forgot our order, so the pot pie took an eternity to come. When it finally got here, it looked nothing like the advertisement. The advertisement mentioned that it was supposed to come in a buttered sourdough bread bowl, but what we got was just the filling in a normal white bowl with two cold bread rolls. Our side of chips was also missing. My boyfriend went up to ask the server why it wasn't in a bread bowl, and the server rudely retorted with "we're out of the garlic bread bowl." What? What can I say? It's a good place to stop for lunch when you want something quick and easy. I love their sourdough bread and always buy a loaf when I can but recently we stopped here for a sandwich and salad and it left a lot to be desired. The bread for the sandwich was so hard to bite and chew, we basically had to bite as hard as we could from how tough it was. It was almost comical. Our salad was alright, it wasn't anything exciting. It would be nice if they gave an option to warm the chicken that goes on top. Overall it's not a bad place and again I love taking their bread home but I wouldn't go out of my way to have lunch here. read more

I've been to one of these before in the Bay area. This one is jammed between shopping strips and the highway to parking frankly sucks to find while your dodging other vehicles and pedestrians who are not paying attention. Once inside it was very inviting. The classic lunch offerings are listed on the overhead and if you wanted to look at it closer on a menu they had plenty of those too for your use. I requested a combo of clam chowder and half of their grilled cheese. The sandwich was very good (it's cheese, what can go wrong!) but I caught a chunk of grit in the chowder again. This is the second time that has happened to me and while you can always expect a little tidbit from the sea in any seafood I was and am still surprised by how big of a clod of sand I've gotten. I always feel uneasy eating my food knowing that everything is just open for someone to mess with. Also, they always forget utensils, napkins, butter, and croutons for door dash and pick up orders. Warm and inviting atmosphere, the price is comparable to the quantity of food served. The staff is friendly and energetic. I recommend this establishment for its breads, soups and salads. We're not thrilled by this place, albeit the bread and clam chowder are good. We suggest checking your order when ordering online or in house. Especially if you have allergies, particular eaters, or just want to eat the food you thought you ordered. We purchased two ahi salads in house / to-go that came with the incorrect dressing. We didn't discover this until after we got home on the other side of town. This would have been less of a disappointment or a non-issue if it was communicated to us they were out of the usual ingredients for this dish. Instead, the substitution went without acknowledgement even when the staff was aware. The salad was trash with the substitution and we would have selected another dish entirely if we were given the opportunity. They would not provide a reimbursement or remake one of the salads that we unknowingly applied the wrong dressing to. The reply we received is we "got what they had" and if anything, I felt like by being confrontational and direct about a how can we make this right scenario, I was a nuisance to them. The soup was very creamy and had a great flavor, and made it for a wonderful side with my sandwich. I cannot even describe how disappointed I was with the salad however. It was almost as if they washed some iceberg lettuce and threw it onto my plate. It had no other vegetables and the dressing on it had zero flavor.
