Wow, there must have been a change in management since last time I was here. I have a bunch of gripes, some just annoying and some very disrespectful. I ordered onions on my omelet and they showed on the receipt. No onions were on my omelet, a little more annoying. There was no fork on my tray. I returned to the counter and asked for one. She gave me a wood fork... Am I camping? I asked for a metal one. She said "this is all I have here, they are in the back". WHAT? Apparently their "system was down" after my order. As customers came in, the employee told people that were coming in they couldn't take their order. When the customers left disappointed they were loudly mocking them and laughing about it. But I wanted to see what this Ole Cheeseburger do, a 1/3 pound all Beef patty with mild grilled Green Ole Chiles with all the fixings. Is it anything like the Chopped Green Chiles at In-N-Out Burger? And look, there's more Fries. I like the branding on my large drank. Keep it real. Make it Nation's. I like that. They get some points for originality. The Beef patty was seasoned good. The Green Ole Chiles was magnificent, if only I had slightly more. It's a hefty Cheeseburger. Everything was fresh. This Cheeseburger is closer to what I grew up with, the California Cheeseburger. It resembles something I would get, at a Cheeseburger Shack on California State Route 1. This is a slightly above average Cheeseburger. And the Fries were way better, than depicted on the menu. One of my fondest memories of NorCal was eating slices of various pies at Nation's with friends. After late-night burritos and sometimes in lieu of dinner altogether, a slice of pie at Nation's always led to a good time. I can't speak to anything else but the pies and tarts, which are some of the best desserts I've ever had, definitely the best in the area. I've tried just about every pie without any of them disappointing but my favorites are Banana Cream and the strawberry tarts. Strawberry tarts sell out quick, but when available they are a must have. I once took my dad to this place for late night pie as they're open until midnight. Today, decades after we came here for pie, he requested a coconut cream pie that he so fondly remembers for his 83rd Birthday. Since cancer he hasn't eaten much, but he ate a slice of the coconut cream pie and was happier than ever. If that's not a testament to how good these pies are I don't know what is. I stopped in to check them out after receiving tons of direct mail coupons and wanted to see what they had to offer. I tried the bacon cheeseburger and a slice of chocolate creme pie. Neither was phenomenal. The burger was kind of bland and a bit overcooked. It wasn't juicy or anything beyond what I could get at a little league baseball concession stand. The only thing the burger really had going for it was the size-- which was generous. The pie was okay, as well. Nothing really "wrong" that I can pinpoint, but just didn't wow me. I have always really liked the food at this Nations in Vacaville. We've been going there for many years. However, the customer service has been bad for at least a year. Some team members are so rude. It's uncomfortable to even place an order. If you try to call ahead to see if something is available - they will leave you on hold and act like you're bothering them when they finally pick up 10 minutes later. They don't even say goodbye when they hang up. I love the food, but I really hate the disrespect. I don't even know who to talk to, but I don't think it will matter.
