A very popular place to get food in Daly City. It was my first time visiting this location and I'm pleased to say that it was a good experience overall. They were able to get me seated in a timely manner and my server was attentive in making sure I was taken care of. They deliver some delicious and warm bread while you wait for your food. The Chicken Asiago was delicious. Large portion and tasted great. Only complaint I can give is that it was very salty. Overall I'd say this is a great place to grab food. I would recommend arriving early to beat the rush of large groups. I would also suggest arriving early to get parking since their parking lot is very small. read more

The prices here are reasonable. The chicken piccata was 22 dollars and that's basically standard. The chicken sandwich had a good taste, the bread was hard on top and soggy on the bottom. The were juices dripping out of the Burger so remind me to get a straw for this plate next time I come here. For the steak sandwich, there was nothing special. The chicken piccata was pretty good. The seasoning was good, and I didn't expect the combination of chicken and fried rice, I was expecting pasta. But not an unpleasant surprise. The small downside of the piccata was that it is a little too acidic and sour, theres not enough fat and butter on the piccata to balance it out. They only used a very basic fond sauce on the piccata, in lieu of a buttery whiter sauce that piccata usually has. The chicken was also not seared well on both sides. Server was okay, got what we needed and food service was quick. We only waited a bit for the bill and a server to ask what to order. Overall this place was a little on the slower pace. But then it makes sense because it was mostly retired folks that are dining in here. Overall I'd say it's not too bad, the value is there but technique is lacking. The last time we came here was over 20 years ago. We used to come here after going to Fort Funston. I was pleasantly surprised the food was actually good. I really liked the mashed potatoes and gravy. The Mac and Cheese was kinda the Kraft kind so my daughter liked it. The service was good and the place was nice and clean. Service was okay but what is going on with the food? We ordered a Mighty Moose and a single blueberry pancake. First, the Mighty Moose was dry and had very little gravy. Boulevard Cafe is a breakfast staple at this point. I have been going here for all my life and I haven't found a place that I would rather eat at first thing in the morning...yet. The cool thing about Boulevard Cafe is that their breakfast hours last from 8:30AM - 2:00PM so you can bring a friend and have brunch if your not an early riser. Certain weekend mornings tend to be busy though so expect some wait(but I have never waited any longer than 20 minutes). There's plenty of parking but the restaurant is right next to housing so you might have to look around for a minute or two. One more thing, ONLY go for the breakfast foods, lunch/dinner is just OK and you'd be better off somewhere else for that. Breakfast: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Swedish Pancakes (10/10) - Heads up, these aren't like traditional pancakes and more closely resemble crepes. However, they are light and fluffy with the perfect amount of sweetness. They also come with a delicious side of lingonberry butter (that stuff is addictive!). The Hangover (10/10) - Savory breakfast plate full of beef chili, hashbrowns, topped with 2 eggs any style, pico, and side of toast. This breakfast hits the spot when you wanna eat something that'll keep you full all morning. Bananas Fosters French Toast (10/10) - Okay I don't like French Toast generally but these are the exception for me. The cinnamon butter and crispy but fluffy texture make it one of the best that I've had. Special of the day: Chilaquiles (5/10) - This ain't it Boulevard. The texture of the chips was pretty good and the carne asada was tender. However, the sauce had a weird smokey flavor as if there was barbecue in it?? Always have great food and service at this cafe. But yesterday's experience was many levels above and I want to give a special thanks to our server, Emilee J. This was the first time at the cafe since I have needed the aid of a cane. She came to our table and asked if a booth would be better. It was for comfort and knowing that my cane wouldn't fall off the back of a chair creating a safety hazard. When we go back we hope Emilee is working that day. read more

It's the kind of cafe where you might be denied seating at the window because you're just a party of 1 person, while 50% of the tables are unoccupied. The kind of cafe that would deny a simple custom request like adding an egg to a burger, while offering eggs in other dishes. The kind of cafe that wouldn't have cheery cider three times in a row, while still having it on menu. Every time I visited this cafe, I had some small but annoying nuisance that would had spoiled an otherwise fine experience. This time they exceeded their regular craziness asked me for ID when ordered a drink. I am a man in mid-forties, and when I go for a walk, I don't carry an ID. So this is the last time they saw me visit them, and I hope my warning would save you from having unpleasant encounters as well. read more

I just can't raise the stars on Boulevard. At a time where people are watching their dollars, we were shocked when we saw our bill today. The service is good. Could be better because I did not receive toast with my breakfast and I had to ask for it 20 minutes after I was served. Thankfully I asked for the gravy on the side because it was just bad. It doesn't even look like the gravy I see in photos others have posted. My eggs were cold and the hash browns were a hard salty brick. Loved the amazing chocolate milkshake. My husband was drawn to the fajita special that was offered to us. He said it was delicious. It came out sizzling. But the price was never mentioned and that's where I am finding issue. Shrimp fajitas are $38. This was for lunch? Wow! Chevy's shrimp fajitas are $24. And trust me, it's just as good! I asked if there was a mistake with the bill. Nope I was told that is the correct price. Not saying I'll never go back but it's customary to let your patrons know the prices. And I so want the food to be better than it really has been. I've come to Boulevard many a times as a child. It was a staple in my childhood for having decent food, decent prices, and great for groups. We had a reservation on Saturday at noon and there was a little of a wait to get our table ready. Recently, I have consistently ordered the same dish, although I have only came twice in the past year. And I always get the Blvd Pasta, which is so good. I asked for no arugula (correctly pronounced argue-ella, fight me if you disagree) which is why in the photo below there is no greenery. It tasted delicious! The mushrooms were nice and squishy and the noodles were a nice al dente, perfectly chewy. The tomatoes where cut in half but still filled with juices. The must have doused the noodles in the sauce because there was sauce INSIDE of the tube-y noodles. It was perfectly, evenly spread. And guess what? The perfect bite exists. Place the mushroom, tomato, and noodle all in one fork-full and CHOMP. It's delicious. The different textures work together in perfect harmony and the tomato juices just squirt into your mouth. Yum! So why is the review four stars? Besides the Blvd Pasta, I have come to realize that the other foods are mediocre. Sure, if you are looking for solid food come here but they are exceptional in any other area besides the Blvd Pasta (at least in my opinion). read more

Five of us ladies met for lunch today. It was outstanding. Jose, our server was excellent and on top of whatever we needed. The manager, Louis, was also very attentive and couldn't do enough for us. We started out with 2 starters to share, the wings and pork ribs. Both delicious, however, I want to go back and have those wings all to myself as a main. They were perfectly prepared, fall off the bone, tasty, yum, plus the side of Asian salad, perfect! We all had something different from Cobb salad to various sandwiches and I had the California mac and cheese, unlike any other mac and cheese. The cheeses were so good, and lots of chicken, mushroom, spinach and garlic. YUM Everyone came home with leftovers for tomorrows lunch. For dessert we shared a slice of huge chocolate fudge cake and a tiramisu cake. Parking was easy in the free parking lot and the restaurant was very clean with a mid century vibe! Today my sister and I was dining at this horrible place.as o was finishing up my burger I notice a strain of hair in my burger.I bought it to the manager attention which denied it.He said since I was almost done with my food he wasn't going to replace it.I said that's fine I don't want to eat anything else from here.As my sister was finishing her food,he scans up in a unprofessional manner and attitude saying that's it I'm not making it ,Again we told him that's fine you said it like twice,he kept saying or looking for an argument so he can kick us out.I told him to get out my fave and he theater call the police.I will never patronize racism nor will o recommend this place to anyone.Im so upset how we were treated and he didn't handle the situation professionally. read more

Can't believe I've never came in here. Made reservations for Easter Sunday, showed up 30 minutes early and they were able to seat us. My husband ordered the Hangover. He enjoyed it. My mom ordered the 2x2x2 and she was able to swap for Swedish pancakes. They were good. Not as thin as Millbrae Pancake House. My moms a big fan of MPH's Swedish pancakes but she enjoyed these just as much. She was happy to find it at another restaurant. My dad ordered the Top of the Morning with bacon, eggs, fruit & toast. They gave quite a bit of bacon that he was able to share with his grandkids. I ordered the John Daly! It was good. Had everything I wanted in it. My 3y.o. took my avocado and my 2 other girls snagged some hash browns n toast as well. It was plenty and very filling. My girls ordered a jr breakfast & a Mickey pancake. Jr breakfast is quite small. Wasn't enough for our eldest. But I don't think she's at the point of ordering a full entree. The Mickey Mouse pancake came out last and about 5-10 minutes after all the other food. We felt bad eating so we waited for her food to come. All in all, food was good and very filling. We enjoyed ourselves. Coffee was refilled often enough. Our only complaint was the Mickey Mouse pancake coming much later than the rest of the food and making a little one wait to eat. I never get tired of the food. I usually order breakfast or lunch. Some favorites include the chicken and waffles; the two by two breakfast; the burgers; and the Caesar salad with grilled salmon. Last year I ordered a Bloody Mary - not good. It lacked the essence of a Bloody Mary. As a result I'm wary of trying it here again. The wait staff overlaps. You place your order with one person but another will bring your food to your table. I've had attentive service and less frequent inattentive service. Free soda refills. Sometimes parking is challenging. Then you've got to park over by the apartment buildings. Easy to get to. Right off Hwy 280 and Westlake shopping center is nearby. read more

The tip of the water jar is completely touching my glass, which is disgusting because it touches plenty of other glasses. If you've ever worked at a restaurant, you'd know you're supposed to hover it over each glass. I seen my cook touch my toast with his bare hands after dropping a towel on the floor that he was holding. This is my kid's favorite place so I have eaten here a LOT in the last decade. Extremely solid with outdoor seating. Very good options, nothing truly mind-blowing but nothing ever just wrong either. I've tried ~80% of the menu over the years and it's all pretty good. They get slammed on the weekends, especially for brunch, but if you get there before 11 it's not too bad and since I don't get cold I eat on their lovely (and usually sunny) patio as long as it isn't actually raining. Highlights; Souvlaki is nontraditional but very tasty. Fried Chicken & waffle. Chicken fried steak (or biscuits) come with delicious gravy. Swedish Pancakes won me over. Pastas are solid. Burger is good; when they do the patty melt it's better. Their (relatively) new breakfast sammiches are a good deal. Good, reliable coffee. It's nice because they do the little things right here; Yukon gold hash browns that are crispy and unctuous. Service can be spotty; it seems they have high turnover and often you can tell they're shorthanded. Up all night (chocolate shake w/espresso) is how I want to go out. Enjoy. read more

Food is been good and we have been coming to this cafe often. Today i dine with my good friend both ordered the classic egg Benedict. Food came in very quickly. Maybe pre made? Food looks good except both of our muffins is burned and why they serve us? I should reject the muffins and send it back but I didn't. At the end, I saw my good friend muffins push away from her plate so I asked for a not burning muffins for my friend. They agreed and served us. However this waiter can't wait to push us out the door, without asking for the bill, he give us the bill after giving us the muffins and yes we pay immediately, the restaurant is not full on a weekday, then my friend leaves, I have not seen my friend for a long time and want to stay longer but the waiter gestures gives us a sign of telling us to leave. The bill has a list of how much percentage of service charge from 20% the least to whatever percentage and that i think the service has not been deserved my 20% but i don't want to make a complaint in front of good friend! Overall not so good experience today by the way, everything happens so fast,forget to take pictures for food and with friend. read more

I can't believe I have never reviewed this place. I have had so many memorable dinners and getogethers here. I am not a fan of breakfast food (I know blasphemous). However, this restaurant is known for having a popular breakfast and weekend brunch. I have tried it and can confirm the French Toast and waffles. Also, if you like waffles, they make an awesome waffle sundae! For lunch and dinner I like the lamb burger, meatball sandwich, buffalo chicken salad, and meatloaf. The staff is friendly and honest. One time I received the wrong mac and cheese and within minutes, before I could even mention it, the manager came over and replaced it. The ambiance is an upscale diner. There is a nice lounge with TVs for sports. There is also an outside patio for the great Westlake weather :). read more

This restaurant was amazing. The service, the food, the people who dine there. We walked in and were immediately shown to a table. Our server walked over shortly after to take our drink order. He interacted with my kids and was just genuinely kind and patient. We ordered a bunch of food and everything came out correctly and hot. My kids blueberry pancakes were made with fresh blueberries and not canned ones. Everyone around us was super nice and seemed like regulars since the waiter knew their names Just was a really nice homey experience where the quality was excellent and the people were kind. read more

Chicken and waffles should be removed from the breakfast menu. It was a total fail. It came to the table in a blink of the eye after we placed our orders. We ordered our food at around 9:00. The chicken was room temperature. I chose the breast piece to have with the waffle. Needed drinks, not sips of water with every bite to get the dry meat down. I hoped the drumstick, wing, and thigh would be juicy the next day. Another breast was substituted for the thigh. Same dry meat. The drumstick and wing were ok. Neither was proportionate in size to the breast piece that I had there. Close in size to the 2nd breast piece. The menu says half a chicken. No longer my go-to breakfast item here. It's been my favorite for many years. Service was great as always. I did tell the waitress about the dry room temperature chicken breast. I will return for breakfast because Boulevard Cafe is close by to a place I go to twice a year. There's no competition nearby. Other breakfast items are just OK. Times have changed the quality of the breakfast food here. Sadly, there have not been the crowds like yesteryear. Empty tables throughout our time there. read more
