My daughter and I had dinner at the Boulevard on Thursday, January 22nd. It was against my better judgement as a coworker of mine had a very bad experience there in October. The Boulevard was one of my daughter's favorite, however she now lives in Texas and was here visiting. She ordered a pasta dish with salmon which was inedible! She pulled out three tiny chunks of salmon which were rock hard and the few salmon pieces in the pasta were mushy. My daughter is an emergency room nurse for Kaiser so she knows when NOT to eat food that may be tainted. The waiter never came over to ask us about our meals and when it came time to present us with the bill, he saw that my daughter had not touched her meal. He never asked if there was a problem, nor did he offer her another meal of her choosing! She told him that her meal was inedible and he spoke to the chef who claimed there was nothing wrong with his cooking. Management never offered to comp her meal which was the LEAST they could have done. My daughter paid the entire bill. I will never eat there again and I will never encourage my friends to eat there either! This restaurant use to be known for their great food and good service. What happened? read more

I was shocked when I tasted the food at Boulevard Café because when I first walked into the restaurant, I was struck by the beauty of the decor and the wonderful upscale diner ambience. But the food was shockingly bad, so bad that it surpassed every expectation that I had. Eggs Benedict was without a doubt the worst egg Benedict that I ever had in my life. The hollandaise sauce tasted nothing like hollandaise sauce and the eggs were cold -- it was worse than a leftover cafeteria meal that had been sitting out in the sun for seven hours. My stomach started to turn after I ate it and I started to get a cold sweat. Thankfully, I didn't get seriously ill, but there was definitely something deeply wrong with it. The Bloody Mary that I ordered had a putrid taste, and I returned it, and thankfully they gave me an espresso martini which was OK. I gave feedback to the manager, and he seemed to be quite evasive about accepting my feedback and instead made it about me and how I should've lodged a complaint earlier. Really unprofessional way to treat a customer's review and very unaccepting of criticism. Not a quality you should look for in a professional in the restaurant business. I wouldn't try your luck at this restaurant. You might be lucky and end up ordering something that is indeed OK tasting, but there are some things they serve here that are seriously bad. read more

It all boils down to how you treat the veterans. They told me that they give a military discount. Oh, here is the disclaimer!!!! It is only amicable to active duty personnel. Hmm, here in Daily City, California we have a bustling active duty of one recruiting office. No active bases within 60 miles unless you count the Navy outpost on Muir Island. So this review is base on the service and not the food. Food is excellent especially if you can get the dinner happy hour. Breakfast is also good here too. 5 stars However on January 13 the weather fell the weather was raining horribly around 8pm. My 75 mother called me and said she feel and cut her lip and face up . When I got there , the manager asked me sign a liability form. It said she was jogging/ running when she tripped over the parking cement block. I was pretty upset, they had the nerve to try to cover their own ass. Like a 75 year old is going to run when its wet . Note that area in the parking lot was dark too so another reason to try to cover themselves . I do appreciate they got her some ice . In general , the food is good and service is fast. One of my favorite restaurants. A perfect medium between expensive and affordable. My favorite dish is the grilled chicken club sandwich. Every time I order, the staff is always nice and friendly. I normally order my food to go, however the restaurant is a cute place to sit down at eat, whether it be for brunch, lunch, or dinner. The restaurant is pretty spacious and each table gives you a pretty decent amount of room. Reservations are always a good choice, however if you don't have one they're pretty good about seating you in a reasonable amount of time, even in a rush. read more

Food always good to me, we come here for breakfast and dinner occasionally. Yesterday we came for dinner, ordered Ruben sandwich (not in menu but ask for it, they have it). Very rich sandwiches I can only eat half. My hubby ordered the enchiladas special, come in 3 enchiladas, one green sauce, two in mole sauce and Very generous rice. Overall is nice plate. A great place serving American food right by 280. And it has its own parking lot. We ordered the following:- The lamb burger $17 was delicious and came with fries and a salad. The Orzo Alexandra $19 was good too but slightly salty probably due to the capers. The American burger $16served with fries and salad and was also good. Ketchup condiments are already on the table. Was in ssf and tried to get into Cafe 382 which shares a very similar menu to Boulevards at 1:30pm on a Sunday. Line out the door with tables full and message noted that the fried chicken was sold out. Headed over to Boulevard in hopes of fried chicken and waffles but we missed breakfast by 10 mins once we got there. Greeted and seated warmly by Melodee We perused the non breakfast menus. Ordered orzo Alexandra- salmon is always cooked PERFECTLY, tender and flaky. It's quite heavenly. Sometimes it's overly seasoned but today it was perfect. Carbonara was good. There are times when I can tell the chef is on point from this dish ( color is warmer/browner) and the flavor is more complex and rich. Today good but not the best I've had from them. Spaghetti and meatballs always solid. Fried chicken was cooked perfectly, crispy batter and juicy inside, but unfortunately it tasted as though it was not seasoned. All we could taste was the flour in the batter. Ma has served us before and continues to be very kind and welcoming. Great service by all and food came out quickly. read more

Know for their famous Mighty Moose and sweetish cakes this was definitely going to be a carb city food coma situation and well worth it! The mighty moose came with a hunk of chicken fried steak topped with hash browns, eggs, bacon and smothered with gravy! Oh what a carb overload but definitely worth every bite! I also had the guiltless pleasure of enjoying another of the popular item wich was the Swedish pancake and this I must admit I had first. Similar to a French crepe but this was lighter, fluffier and came with a side of this orgasmic lingonberry butter that had me ordering another side of this deliciousness! It was that good! This was our first time here, and the service was excellent, and the food was brought out quickly. We ordered the Greek soup and flatbread pizza as an appetizer. The Greek soup was delicious, but a little bit lemony. Flatbread pizza was decent. For our main entrées, my boyfriend had the Caesar salad and added salmon. I ordered the meatball sandwich which was a good portion, but the taste was just average for me. I think it could've been a little sweeter in my opinion, but it was a good portion. The manager came around twice to check up upon us and the service was great as they cleared our plates timely and checked up on us frequently. If they're really busy, they may ask to use your condiments to give to other tables so if your ketchup person like me, keep it close by or tell them that you're gonna be using it. I would definitely go back there again, we went on a Saturday around noon, and it was either a 25 minute wait for a table, or we got seated at the counter right away. This is one of my favorite go to spots. I Iove the chicken parmesan and their cocktails are amazing. They have plenty of TV's in the bar to catch a game with friends. The cocktails and beer selections were good and overall the atmosphere is pleasant. We got the calamari for appetizer, I like the aoli for the dip .For the Caesar salad they ask if you want it with anchovies, I'll hold off next time since it comes with 2 whole ones for sure instead of mixed in with the dressing. I got the spaghetti with 2 meatballs, nothing special about it. My mom liked her orzo Alexandria , there were chunks of salmon . It had a lot of flavor! Make sure to ask for lemon to spritz on top of the orzo and calamari. The cheesesteak was good also. I love their Swedish pancakes, make sure to order with cinnamon cream instead of lingonberry you want be disappointed! You can really taste the cherry on The Spumoni milk shakes if you like more of a cherry flavored shake go for it! They do charge for cutting fee if you bring your own dessert that also applies even to cupcakes , it's 1.50/person. The place was pretty on a Sunday lunch time but we only waited for about 15 minutes before we got seated for a party of 10 that's pretty good . The one thing you have to take note of is parking! It pretty tight and not enough parking for the size of the restaurant. I wish they have better parking spots . I would still go there. That corned beef hash,fried egg and rye bread! I used to crave this all the time when I was pregnant back in the day. We went to Boulevard last weekend (brother's choice) and I wasn't too excited until I rekindled with this memory of the corned beef hash. Pleasantly surprised that they've taken on a reservation system on Yelp. Pre-pandemic, a Sunday brunch would have easily been a 2 hour wait. They also have 2 outdoor patios with heaters (only the side one near the bar is currently opened). It's always so busy and the staff seem to be running around, but this corn beef hash is worth it I tell you! Sitting outside was so refreshing. They have frosted window tints (which yes, I do realize how dated I sound even commenting about the frost), but it makes you feel like you're on a cruise ship haha. (I'm making it worse, I know) Where am I going with this? The outdoors was a lot quieter than being indoors and I really liked it! I enjoyed my flavorful and crispy corned beef. They also have "Mickey Mouse" pancakes on the kids menu! The whole fam enjoyed their orders and appreciated the outdoor patio. I really miss their Ocean Avenue restaurant (Lakeside). The food was fabulous and never disappointing. I have been going to this Westlake, Daly City location since it opened, and the food has always been very good. I stopped at The Boulevard on my way home, thinking I would treat myself to something nice, and since I was alone, I sat at the counter. However, today, a simple poached shrimp cob salad proved inedible. The shrimp was watery, chewy, bland, and I'm very afraid after eating just one, will take me to the emergency room for food poisoning later. The roma tomatoes were hard, bitter, white inside, and green outside, with many brown spots. The egg was shriveled with membrane, dried, and more than hard boiled. Maybe on the edge of being scorched. All I could eat was the lettuce and the olives! When the waitress asked me how it was, I told her it was possibly the worst salad I've ever had. She just walked away and ignored me me after that. I had to ask someone else to speak to a manager. The manager was very nice. She only charged me 1/2 price and offered something else, but ohhh nooo. I'm not having them make me anything else. So, I walked away hungry! Nonetheless, I tipped them well and initially told them, "Please, I'll pay fully for my meal, I just want you to correct this in the kitchen." Shame and disgrace on the person who made that salad and thought it would be okay to make and serve it to me! They had to know the shrimp was old. How terrible the tomatoes were and the eggs more than a week hard boiled omg.... What I don't understand is, how could anyone allow this to even leave the kitchen and be served to a customer? Everytime I come to Boulevard Cafe I am left 100% satisfied! I usually come here for brunch on the weekends and love all the breakfast items. From the Benedict to the Scrambled egg dishes. The service is always super friendly and the wait is usually not too bad. They are used to getting people seated quickly. While having brunch today we couldn't help but stare at the lunch items around us. One person had fish and chips that looked amazing. Another had a salmon sandwich that looked nice! I have been coming here for many years, long before The Boulevard took over the old Lyon's. For many years I prefer to drink at the bar and sit down at a table in the bar to eat. It does not bother me if someone eats at the bar, however in the past year or so they have converted the bar top from a bar to a storage area for condiments and all sorts of serving items, converting a great Lounge area into a cheap diner atmosphere. To make things worse, the management removed at least 6 chairs to make room for everything but customers! It is sad for the food is good and the wait staff are great but the atmosphere is terrible! I was thrilled when this place opened, replacing the very mediocre Lions restaurant chain. Our family enjoyed many a meal here along with some adorable local characters. Those awesome 90 year old fellas with the balloon animals!! However, the quality has plummeted.... I ordered the Med Wrap and the chicken souvlaki. The Med Wrap was a tiny bit of chicken in a tortilla. Whaaaat the funk? My 4 year old can make a better chicken burrito than whatever that was trying to be. The side salad though... Are you trying to give me food poisoning?? Totally wilted and looks like it was salvaged from the compost bin. What the hel happened to you, blvd??? Soooo disappointing.
