Wine is great and food isn't so bad either. We ordered a few bottles of the Simi Alexander Valley Cabinet Sauvignon 2005, it was delicious with a great bite to it. Fresh oysters and wonderful grilled octopus and shrimp salad. I ordered the dry aged ribeye steak, it was so so, I've definitely had better at Char. To end the night I had a creme brulee expresso and Brandy Alexander. This Christmas I am a glutton, when New Years comes around I would still love to be a glutton at this place again. read more

I reserve my 5 stars for special places. I had dinner here last night and every aspect of the evening was spot on. The space is quite nice. Stone exterior, beautiful windows, and a cosy bar. The bartender was friendly, we talked about wineries a bit, and the drink menu had a bit of everything. I felt the prices were on par for offerings. There were a few couples getting dinner at the bar, so if you just want a drink and a bite, you can certainly do that here. I ordered the tasting menu with wine for my meal at a cost of $90. Honestly, I think this is under-priced. Four courses, one being foie gras and the main a filet mignon, four wines, all just right, everything came out cooked perfectly - a steal at $90. My date got the venison that was a special and raved about it. I've never actually had venison before so I stole a bite and it was pretty tasty. Our waiter was also great. Personable guy, everything came to the table exactly when it should have and he offered a nice wine recommendation for the venison. He never hovered. We could have sat at the table for the rest of the night or even gone back to the bar - alas, our schedule didn't allow for it. I am coming back here again, especially as the weather cools as the interior is very warm and inviting, perfect for cooler (or even snowy) weather. A note, I wasn't sure whether or not the dress I was wearing was going to be too over-dressed. I was glad I wore it. Place overall is probably a solid 2.5.. I'll be generous and round up. Food is just very typical and nothing special. Came her for valentines day last year and again for a dinner with my boyfriend's parents. I feel like this place would not last if it were located in the city. But I guess this is the only restaurant with an O-K decor in Kenilworth, NJ. Sunday nights offers pre-fixe dinner menus for $38 per a person. However, everyone at your table has to participate. Serving size is very...very...small for appetizers. Things that i remember off the top of my head, their mushroom ravioli and scallops were just okay and you could do without their crab cake. The best thing at Boulevard is this Seafood risotto (and they obv know this) which was not part of their pre-fixe menu. Had to pay an additional $8 for it. Got the lamb..sauce is pretty salty. Also got their Cavatelli and pulled braised short ribs which was good and also got a bolognese dish...? Their dessert was horrendous. it was just a spread of tiny cheesecake and chocolate cake cut up into tiny square pieces. It literally reminds me of the dessert that you see at chinese buffets. First star goes to the hostess: we arrived around 11:15am for brunch and had not made reservations (big mistake...make sure you make a reservation this place gets PACKED!). Anyway, she kindly let us know there was seating at the bar. We wanted something a little more intimate so we were discussing whether to stay when she piped up that she could rearrange some seating to get us a table right away! THAT is customer service. Second star goes to the amazing service staff: whoever or wherever they learned their craft- Thank You! Polite, attentive but not pushy, always a step ahead of the game. Glasses were never empty, coffee was always hot and topped (when wanted) and timing was perfect.True artisans of their craft! Third star: the brunch prix-fixe...it's perfect. For 2 or more (at $26/person, which for any one who brunches is a steal) you get to choose 4 items off the tasting which offers a variety of sweet and savory, each person gets an entree which is made with fresh organic ingredients and then unlimited bellinis, mimosa, bloody marys, coffee, tea, etc. You won't walk away unsatisfied that is for sure. Fourth star: the drinks...the bellinis were delicious...while curiosity kills the cat on the bloody marys, I am looking forward to our next visit for another bellini And lastly fifth star: the food. we chose the fresh fruit with Chantilly cream, the ricotta stuffed crepes, the mezza plate (which had baba gahnoush, hummus, beet tartar, olives, pita, etc), and the latke's & house cured salmon. each was a perfect tasting size and delicious. you have to try them! for entree I had the Benedict Florentine and my partner had the breakfast burrito...portions were perfect and the food cooked very nicely. the coffee was also great, which is always a hit or miss in most places. This restaurant is very pretty and there is a great ambiance. I've been here twice - once for dinner and once for brunch. I wasn't that pleased with dinner - I thought the food was a little too over the top. The portions are very small for the price. No one in my party was overly impressed. I was part of a fairly large party - around 10 people, and the night we were there, the restaurant was being reviewed by the NY Times, and so a photographer was constantly snapping photos while we were eating, which was slightly irritating/awkward. I really enjoyed the brunch, however. It is $25 per person. You get unlimited bloody marys or mimosas, which is great =) They had great fresh fruit - the pineapple was delicious. The tomato mozzarella salad was yummy. The buttermilk pancakes were very filling and well made. The cinnamon french toast was to die for. It was so sweet and was more like a dessert. The breakfast potatoes and bacon were good as well. I also loved the mini desserts, especially the cheesecake. Was here earlier this week for lunch. I was impressed with this restaurant and will be back. Due to the fact that a team member of mine is in a wheelchair, the host offered to set up our table in a quaint room off of the dining room. This room was quiet and was perfect for an early holiday professional lunch. The menu was very impressive, but I tried the braised lamb shank lunch special. The lamb was great, served with homemade pasta and sauted root veggies. The staff was extremely attentive, but not overbearing. Again, I like and will return. read more

Everything we ordered (Salmon Latkes, Ricotta Crepes, French Omelette, the Duck Hash Confit and the Boat Shrimp Pasta) was delicious. The Beignets in particular were outstanding. Super classy place ! Went for a work dinner and they provided awesome seating. We tried almost every appetizer on the menu but what I loved the most was the octopus salad, such rich flavor. The wait staff was engaged and even chimed in with the casual conversation being had, definitely added that personalized customer service. The seafood - lump crab cakes and poke were fresh; we found out the owner is actually a fish market owner so their seafood quality was the best in town. When you go here, make sure you get bottled or sparkling water, the tap we ordered tasted really funny. The chef also sent us a sample of their carrot ginger soup which was another plus. I adore this place. I go with my teacher friends just about once each month for brunch and it never disappoints. The drinks are phenomenal, the apps are ingenious, as they bring out enough for EACH person instead of the typical "good luck sharing" vibe that you get from other restaurant, and the food is great. This restaurant never fails to impress us. I have taken my son here for his birthday on several occasions. We had little neck clams, mixed salad with goat cheese and pumpkin ravioli for appetizers, all were so delicious!! My son had his favorite venison. They don't always have it on the menu but occasionally have it on special and we were lucky they had it this time of year. This is the type of place that can really surprise you. The food was excellent, the service was attentive and the experience was great overall. However, the food really, really, stood out. You could taste the love it was made with, I was honestly very surprised. It was one of few meals that I've had recently where everything tasted spot-on. As for the rest: 1. I went to Boulevard Five 72 for a first date with a lovely lady. We made reservations, but were running late. I called to notify the restaurant, and they were very understanding. They also accommodated my request to push our reservation back an hour. Upon arriving, I noticed a little bit of a strange odor, which worried me, but it was relegated to the initial hallway entrance. My date and I also noted that the atmosphere and decor was a little more upscale than we had anticipated. We initially felt a little out of place at first, but the host and our waiter were very friendly and quickly put us at ease. For starters, we were given bread and cold potato soup shooters. The bread was, well, bread. Not much to say. The potato soup was... interesting. My date and I both agreed it tasted like potato salad, except we were drinking it. As for entrees, my date kept things simple and ordered a salad for dinner (I think it was the chopped organic greens) while I ordered the roasted organic half chicken. Both dishes were very tasty. We did not have dessert, although the choices sounded great. Overall, Boulevard Five 72 is nice restaurant with very good food. I would eat here again. read more

10 of us met last Saturday night to celebrate a family member coming in from out of state. We had a blast! We specifically wanted to be seated outside due to COVID, and I had about 5 back and forth phone calls, adding more people, changing our minds about indoor/outdoor seating, and everyone was so helpful and gracious. I was probably a bit annoying, but if they were annoyed with me, they certainly didn't show it. We ended up in the outdoor tent which was set up very lovely with white table cloths and outdoor lights and all the trimmings that would be on our table inside. All 10 of us raved about the food! Everything was so delicious! Can't wait to come back with a smaller crowd and try the tasting menu. Such a great experience at Boulevard 572. :) read more

I put down a deposit to host a bridal shower there in 2020 but I couldn't go forward with the shower because of the lockdown. They have been giving me the run around for about a year and refuse to give me back my deposit. Very shameful when businesses take advantage of consumers in these challenging times. read more

I just really want to echo what everyone is saying below and commend this restaurant for being absolutely awesome. With just rock solid food and a fairly enjoyable atmosphere, this is one of the better restaurants I have tried in this area of NJ. Both the Grilled Organic Salmon and Organic Half-Chicken were extremely tasty and smartly prepared. The chef's use of organic ingredients pays off in taste and demonstrates his or her respect for the diners' health. Also, make sure to try to Parmesan Risotto side. It is yum. Also, our waiter was awesome. This might not be the best restaurant in the entire state, but it's a great place to go for a special event and doesn't disappoint. Well, except I have to say the dessert menu was a little tired and could definitely use an update but the food menu is exceptional. My girlfriend and I will be back. read more

First let me say that every time I have been here, every aspect of this place has been consistent. Reservations are seated right on time every time. Wine room is always excellent if you want a little extra privacy. Make sure you request it when you make a reservation (I always sit I there). Also if you want, come a bit early and have a drink in the lounge. The bartenders are excellent and provide amazing hospitality. The ambiance and atmosphere are excellent, you feel right at home as soon as you pull up and the valet takes your car. Now the service. It is unmatched by any. Waiters notice any move you make and are eager to take plates, clean and clear your setting and give you new utensils for every dish. Dishes come out promptly always and timely. All servers are polite, knowledgeable and eager to make your experience wonderful. We had the price fixe last time we were here with the wine tasting paired with each dish and let me say, not only was the price fixe menu perfectly constructed and absolutely knock your socks off delicious, but the wine paired with each dish was spot on. Everyone here knows exactly what they are doing from the servers all the way to the kitchen. 10/10 read more

The Good: Great ambiance, tight menu, excellent cocktails, nice wine selection, fresh berries, home-made whipped cream, cheese appetizer fantastic en par with European experience. The Okay: Timing a bit rushed - obvious they wanted to turn the table, no choice of side dishes, wine portions on the small side. The Meh to Not so Okay: Steak was overcooked - ordered "medium well" and received "very well", Chanterelles meant one singular chanterelle on the top of the steak, the rest of the mushrooms were obviously portobellos (or something like it). I have been to this restaurant for birthday brunches before and the service was excellent. However, this past Sunday they were awful. The waiter kept us waiting on several occasions. He took a coffee order and then brought out the cake. He walked away and did not sing. He left the cake there with no knives, no dishes, and no forks for about ten minutes. I had to walk to the host and ask for him to return with place settings and coffee. At that point he came out and nastily told me he knew and was on his way. We were a party of 5 and apparently for a party of five gratuity is automatically added. Overall a good experience. Went there for brunch with 8 people. We got the $26 prefix which includes 4 starters, enough for the table, a meal/entree for each person, and unlimited coffee, tea, mimosa, and Bloody Mary. Service was excellent. We just preferred them not to fill our coffee before we finished it. Throws off the whole milk and sugar ratio! But coffee in itself was delicious. Mimosa were good also. Food was good. Starters were tasty! Crepes were delicious and the French toast was awesome. Pancakes were ok, a little dense. I had an omelette which was good. 2 people had the steak and eggs and neither liked it. There was some weird marinade on it that was very strong in flavor. It is NOT what you are expecting. Each dish came with a small side salad and the dressing was good. My second visit to BLVD 572 and I wonder why I do not make the trip more often. The servers are well spoken in describing what is available for the specials. The atmosphere is relaxed, nice bar and seating area for a private chat. Wine selection is top notch and Mike R gives a wonderful explanation of how the wine pairs with each dish. I had the Atlantic Char with a special bacon based sauce. Very good, never had Char before, very similar to Salmon. Excellent! The folks I was with had the Vegetable Risotto and Seafood Risotto and they felt it was very rich and they didn't leave anything on their plates. Sampled some of the deserts but I had no room left. Excellent service ,great food, great wine selection and overall top notch establishment! I can't wait to eat at Mikes new endeavor BLVD Seafood in Somerville. 5 stars! read more

We went to Boulevard 572 in Kenilworth for the first time & had an outstanding dinner. We usually don't go to BYOs but made an exception this time, since their wine list seemed very reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant. For appetizers we had the excellent and refreshing grilled octopus & shrimp salad, with artichokes, olives, capers, & roasted red peppers. We also shared the mushroom ravioli stuffed with porcini mousse, in a mascarpone froth. For entrees my wife had the excellent certified Angus filet mignon with Danish blue cheese, roasted potatoes, baby carrots, & squash, in a red wine reduction. It was perfectly charred on the outside and medium rare on the inside. I had the outstanding, and extremely tender roasted Berkshire pork tenderloin, with shrimp & chorizo cassoulet, parsnip puree, in a 'mole sauce.' For dessert we shared an amazing dark chocolate and caramel mousse torte, over a chocolate olive oil cake, fleur de sel, and mascarpone gelato.
