Lobster Caesar salad, side of fries, and herb-marinated grilled chicken plate
Alex S.

This was one of the best meals I had visiting family in Philadelphia! The herb-marinated grilled chicken was filling without being too heavy. There was a ton of chicken drizzled with a pesto oil. The corn fricassee reminded me of a corn succotash with peppers and onions. The mashed potatoes were fluffy and buttery, and I could tell they were homemade from russet potatoes. The fries were delicious! They had a light but crisp exterior and fluffy inside. The crab Caesar from the specials menu was hearty and delicious. We made a reservation but the restaurant had plenty of room on a weekday afternoon. The ambiance is cool and welcoming, and the AC was refreshing on a hot day. There is also a spacious outdoor patio. The food came out quickly and was hot. The staff was friendly and offered us drink refills regularly. I'd definitely return to Marathon on the Square to try more dishes!

Jumbo Lump Crab Cake Sandwich

The service was great she was very attentive! The food was the star of the show I ate that crab cake sandwich and even the fries in probably under 15 mins lol. The restaurant was super cute and quiet because it was during the day so it was great for my breakfast date.

Yummmy and very cozy! Came for dinner with the ladies the other week and loved it!! Atmosphere is nice inside I really like it! We all got the chicken parm and 3 milkshakes just to shake things up! Good meal overall. It wasn't the best I've ever had but it was really good! Decent price for the location and just in general type of restaurant. We had a waitress even take out picture and wasn't weird about it so great service! Everything was fast and I will definitely go again!

I was staying at the Hampton Inn near the Convention center and was looking for something on DoorDash. This place came up and looked delicious and it did not disappoint. The food was made very quickly and it was so good! They do not skimp on the hummus. It was piled on. I'll definitely try more from here since I'll be here for a few days!

All of my recent dine in and takeout experiences with Marathon On the Square have been amazing! We live nearby, and whenever we are in need of a last minute place to grab brunch or lunch on the weekends, Marathon is our go-to. We are always able to get a table, and they have been able to accommodate large groups. The food is pretty good, with a large variety on the menu, and the price point makes sense for what you get. Our most recent visit was last Saturday. It was an incredibly hot May early afternoon, and a group of 8 of us were recovering from an evening that included a graduation and a wedding, so we were feeling that both physically and mentally. We decided to walk over to Marathon to try our luck for a table of 8. We anticipated having to split into two tables, because where can a group of 8 people walk-in for brunch on a Saturday at 11:30 AM? However, Marathon was easily able to accommodate us and seat us all together. To eat, we all shared the cheesesteak wontons because greasy food was much needed. The cheese sauce for dipping was really delicious. For my meal, I went for the Turkey Club which was delicious. In the past, I've also really enjoyed the Omelet and Salad option, which comes with potatoes instead of salad on the weekends. I will say that the breakfast potatoes are not my favorite. They aren't crispy, but they are well seasoned. It gets really busy weekdays for lunch, and I've noticed the crowd is often bigger on weekends the later it gets. Maybe we've been really lucky with out attempts, but I seriously love that whenever we walk in, we are seated right away. The staff is really friendly and helpful. We're grateful to have Marathon on the Square so closeby!

The best pork chop in town!
Tin L.

My husband and I had plans to go to the Parc Restaurant in Rittenhouse Square. The wait for a table was 45 minutes. So we decided to walk around but once we turned a corner on Spruce we smelled something good grilling. We looked on the menu and we just couldn't resist to try what's cooking! We immediately got a seat outside and our server was quick to say hello to us and get our drink order. We ordered their Mac and Cheese to share. I ordered the grilled pork chops and my husband, the bbq ribs. My husbands ribs was a bit dry, and he couldn't eat it. Our server was happy to replace it with another item- he decided on the beef brisket instead. The grilled pork chops was cooked perfectly! Smoky, juicy and tender. The best grilled pork chop I've had. My husbands brisket was flavorful. We were stuffed coz their portions was pretty generous. We will definitely return!

Caesar salad
Bessy T.

we ordered a nice lunch for takeaway and are at home with the family. Got the Margarita and mushroom pizzas from Marathon (across the street) then lamb chop, Caesar salad from @eatmarathon Lamb chop was bomb as usual, came with shishito peppers and grilled medium rare, just the way I like it Lastly the salads are always a hit. Caesar is nice and crispy with fresh shaved cheese and hearty dressing. The grilled veggie salad comes with heaps of grilled vegetables. We added the Moroccan chicken on it as well Came here another time for brunch . Got the last chicken pot pie, an omelette and the club sandwich. Good standard food as expected @midwestmunching for more on Instagram!

Always fast and consistent food. Never really a wait to sit down and eat. Their cheesesteak and buffalo chicken sandwich are great.

Dear reader, We went…read moreto City Tap in Philly with a large group just for drinks and had a thoroughly good time. The $10 martinis on Friday were an excellent deal and definitely one of the highlights of the evening. A well-priced martini always sets a promising tone, and these did exactly that. The bartenders were helpful and kept things moving impressively well, even with a group our size, which was much appreciated. The space itself is huge and very clean, with plenty of tables and seating, so it was easy for everyone to spread out, settle in, and enjoy themselves without feeling packed in. A major point in its favour is the setup for watching sports. They have a massive wall of TV screens, plus more TVs throughout the space, which made it very easy to keep up with multiple games at once. No awkward craning for a view, no fighting for the one good seat, just a very solid setup for a group outing. Overall, it was a fun experience and very much in line with the good times we have had at other City Tap locations in DC. A lively, well-run spot for drinks and groups, and one we would happily return to.

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful in directing me to the correct entrance. The space has a unique atmosphere. The indoor dining area felt quite dark, but the restaurant appears to have multiple levels, including an upstairs dining area and a bar, which adds to its charm. I started with a cocktail and really enjoyed it. It was fruity, well-balanced, and had just the right amount of alcohol without being overpowering. Based on recommendations, I ordered the burger. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype for me. It could have been cooked better, and overall I wasn't particularly impressed with it. What stood out most was the service. Luckily, we found street parking right next to the restaurant, which was a nice surprise. When we arrived, the wait for a table of three was about 45 minutes. That's somewhat expected for a popular brunch spot on a weekend. Once seated, the service was prompt. Our waiter stopped by quickly with waters and took good care of us throughout the meal. I ordered the House Angus Burger with sweet potato fries. It was solid, flavorful, and definitely filling. My friend got the Bella Vista Omelet with home fries, and we both agreed that while the food was good, it felt like standard brunch fare rather than anything particularly memorable. Based on the long wait and the hype surrounding Sabrina's, I think we were expecting the food to really stand out. In my opinion, the dishes we tried were comparable to what you'd find at a quality chain brunch spot like First Watch. That's not necessarily a bad thing, the food was satisfying, but it didn't quite justify the lengthy wait. That said, the menu has plenty of more unique and creative options that we didn't try. I'd be open to coming back and ordering one of those specialty dishes next time. Overall, I left satisfied with the meal and service.
