Have been meaning to get over to Standard Tap to check out Chef Patrick's new menu (I've been eyeing it up online for the last several months.) It was finally a gorgeous Sunday morning, so we headed over for brunch on the upstairs patio. It's one of my favorite spots in the restaurant where you can have a nice view of the street, feel the breeze, and peep the herb garden on the roof deck. I chose the Hugh Spritz for my brunch cocktail which was the perfect mix of elderflower, mint, lemon, and champagne. A great start. We shared a trio of appetizers including the radicchio and peach salad, summer sausage plate (I forgot how much I love summer sausage), and fried green tomatoes which were especially lovely with fried capers. For my entree, I enjoyed the omelette with fromage blanc and jamon serano. The cheese was copious and just the right amount of tart. Went great with the ham. We topped off our meal with peach cheesecake and a new dessert caller Portokalopita - a sturdy cake made with phyllo dough - very interesting to look at and pleasant to eat. Our server, Hayley, made great recommendations for both food and drink. We always enjoy Standard Tap and feel lucky to have it as a go-to spot in our neighborhood. Stopped by for dinner since this place was one of the restaurants doing a restaurant week special (January 2026). $45 for 3 courses. In general I would say this didn't feel like a $45 meal. Food was fine but I was mostly unimpressed? To start we ordered the radicchio pear salad and the potato croquettes. The salad was missing something although i can't really say what. Just kinda eh. The potato croquettes on the other hand were very yummy. Hot, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Paired with a delicious garlic onion spread. For entrees we did one of each option: the trout and short rib. Both dishes could have come out way hotter. Trout had a great sauce but the fish itself was average. Short ribs were pretty solid and better than the fish. The "coffee braised" part of the description confused me. There wasn't even a hint of coffee. For desserts we did one chocolate mousse and one panna cotta. Mousse was really good. Extremely rich and the cherry sauce on top was a nice touch. Panna cotta was alright. A little on the gelatinous side. Overall we didn't love the restaurant week offerings however I'd still come back. We noticed there were many people around us eating burgers that looked great! Multi level pub serving a variety of food and drink. Enter at the bar level that has some tables and there is also an upstairs for more seating. Has dark, old charm with nice artwork on the walls. Came in early and sat at a table upstairs on a weekend evening. Fairly lively inside so had some quick bites. Roast beef slider pretty tasty, and also had an onion ring from the order which were nice and crispy. Fried Cacio e pepe on the special addition menu were okay just a bit dry. We were there on a Saturday night and it was pretty crowded at the restaurant but we had a reservation. The service was fine nothing notable in a good or bad way. The host stand is in a high traffic spot so it was hard for our group to stay out of the way while we waited for our table to be ready. Luckily it wasn't too long of a wait. I were the chicken katsu sandwich and it was pretty good. The chicken was definitely freshly fried and the bread was good quality. The sliced cucumber on the side was a little bit of an afterthought imo but it was fine. This would probably benefit from like a pickled daikon or ginger side tbh. The atmosphere is what drew us to standard tap. The outside looks like a cute German pub and and inside is wooden tavern with warm lighting. The staff was pretty friendly and when we asked for a single drink between the two of us, they gave us two smaller glasses and split it which was nice. The beer itself was good. Bartender (Kourtney) was super helpful in selecting a beer. Sometimes you go to a bar and everything on tap is unfamiliar, and a bartender might get annoyed by questions. Here, she talked me through a few of their special selections and made a few recommendations. I landed on a cask IPA that was smooth and strange and delicious. They brought me a complimentary orange scone and, buddy, it was fire. I don't eat a lot of scones but I have to imagine that's what they're supposed to taste like. Like a buttery biscuit but sweeter. I had the standard burger, medium, with extra pickles. Bartender warned me that it doesn't come with fries, I just wanted the burger though. 5/5 burger, 5/5 bread & butter pickles, 5 stars overall. read more

Standard Tap is a great spot -- multi-level, great energy, and it manages to feel cozy and lively at the same time. I've been a few times now, including for a friend's birthday, and it's always a solid experience. Brunch hits the mark. The menu has all the usual offerings, but everything I've had has been above-average delicious. It's elevated comfort food without trying too hard. That said -- if you're driving, give yourself extra time (or patience). Still, once you're inside, it's worth it. A true NoLibs staple. read more

I'm not sure why I've never been here before, but I'm glad I finally went! I wanted to see what all of the praise was all about with their Chicken Pie. That praise... is so very well deserved! It is, hands down, the best chicken pot pie I've had in Philadelphia. There are a lot of bad pot pies in the world. This one will make you never want to eat those other pies ever again. The chicken, onions, and veggies inside are slow-cooked to perfection. The crust is out of this world flaky good and very artistically presented. It's a huge meal by itself. Rating again. I want to start off that we still love this place and will always come back because the food is fantastic. This Sunday we came for brunch and the menu looked the same as normal so I asked for the brunch menu and they said it was incorporated through the whole menu...so when I ordered the chicken pot pie it usually comes on a bed of salad which makes the dish imo. During brunch hours the chicken pie was served on a bed of grits with an egg on top, it was good but just not what I wanted/expected nor was it listed on the menu. Their menu is a rotating list so they are constantly printing new menus, it would be helpful to have an actual brunch menu if parts of the item is changing. I can't see this being that challenging to implement. read more

Offered great recommendations, constantly smiling and all around pleasant. As for the drinks, my party was not disappointed. At first I ordered a cosmo it was ok. However when I sampled the monarch, I was hooked. It assaulted all your tastebuds deliciously. As my group are foodies, we ordered almost everything from the menu. Food was bit salty but not enough not to enjoy. Octopus was good, however a combo bite of octopus, arugula artichoke and anchovies was delicious. Seared scallops yummy however the quince was a surprise treat. First time having and I was hooked. Pork belly prepared perfectly. Duck hash was ok wasnt my favorite. Shrimp n Grits equally delicious. Sat on the beautiful porch on a hot summer day for brunch. The ambience cannot be beat. Unfortunately, was surprised at how lacking the service was for our meal. We ordered oysters for the table. They arrived very cold in a tray of ice. As we ate them, the ice quickly melted. When the waitress retrieved the tray, the oyster melted ice water splashed all over our table, making a significant puddle. For the rest of the meal, the waitress did not wipe the table down. We eventually asked for napkins and did it ourselves. The oyster water dripped into our coffees and cups of water, she did not offer to replace them. The oysters themselves were beautiful. We ordered the Dutch baby pancake and the frittula (pulled pork) omelette and enjoyed both. If the service had been good, this would have easily been a 5 star brunch. read more

Came in on a Tu night and thoroughly enjoyed a burger, cauliflower (side dish), and the zapoles. Service was very good - got my burger order just right (aioli on the side, no onion). The food was fabulous. Burger - cooked to perfection, lovely brioche roll toasted on the inside. Cauliflower - would order again in a heartbeat; crispy edges, fragrant, ate the entire thing without meaning to. Zapoles - ate three on the spot and saved two for later; soft on the inside, great flavor, sprinkled with sugar and sitting on applesauce. read more

This is my first review on Yelp, I've done a bunch on trip advisor before but got told that yelp reviews are more helpful to US businesses. We're from the UK but travelling through the US on holiday. One of our group loves cake ales and the mark of a bar that serves good cask ale in the UK is the Cask Marque. There's only a handful with that accreditation in the US. On a whim we've taken a train from Washington with the sole purpose of visiting this bar. We haven't seen Philly at all, haven't even gotten a cheesesteak, and now we're off back down there again. It was totally worth it (and the somewhat silly cost of doing a jaunt like this). The selection of beers is excellent, the cask ones are served at a proper cask temperature and the regular beers served nice and cold. Tusslewig was as good a pint of mild as either of us have ever drunk. The food was excellent, in particular the pork chop, fish sandwich, doughnut bites and pound cake, but that's the highlights the other dishes were really good too. Everything was sourced local (beers, food and even the bourbon) and the herbs are literally grown on the roof. Staff were lovely. The building is so unassuming from the outside, the upstairs terrace is beautiful. It was a big thumbs up from four of us and totally worth the ridiculous trip to get there read more

We went here for restaurant week and it was nice. I wouldn't have came to this part of Philly if I didn't hear about North Liberties restaurant week. The location is good but parking is rare even on a Tuesday evening. This place is a 5 minute walk from Spring Garden train station and there are buses nearby. The best part of my meal was the $35 3 drink pairing. The olive drink, red wine, and artichoke drinks were very strong The octopus salad was tasty and the octopus didn't have a weird texture. I don't like beets but I like how they mixed cashews in the beet salad. It was nice to try the spare rib and parsnip mash but I wouldn't order it again. The crab risotto was so good! And the chocolate cremeux tasted like a fancy chocolate pudding. It wasn't that crowded so the servers were more attentive and present. Came through during 2nd st fest with some people. It took us a while to get our drinks. It seemed like the staff was extremely intoxicated. One male bartender with a lot of tattoos and colored button up, had his shirt unbuttoned, he was sweating profusely, and definitely extremely drunk or on something. It was very off putting and messy. We may try again on a not festival day but a friend of mine said this is "that kinda place" so we may not return. read more

It was crowded on a Saturday night with people playing pool and people at the upstairs and downstairs bars. We typically go to the upstairs bar and were able to get a couple stools up there. I been here a lot lately, for some reason. Probably because I love oysters and beer and good atmosphere and great playlists. Seriously. Every time I'm here they're doing this 80s post-disco/RnB vibe. Is the music I've unironically loved my entire life making a comeback, with optional irony? At Standard Tap, it is. They have a rotating selection of oysters, all of them curated and fresh. Cool spot for beers in a great location, but I'd never eat here again. Went here for restaurant week- most of the short rib was inedible on account of it just being fat. We left hungry because of the small portions and the food not being worth finishing. If you told me the cocktails were watered down I'd believe you. I had been calling for a few weeks to find info on soft shell crabs. They asked for my phone # and they would call when they come in. The Chef actually called me to let me know when they were coming in. We went in and the best ever soft crab sandwich was had. I went to Standard Tap for the first time for dinner with a very large group, and it was one of the best experiences I've had. First, they were extremely accommodating about making a reservation for a very large group of people (up to 20) without having to give a deposit. We called about a week ahead of the date we went. It was really a perfect place because they had restaurant seating upstairs then a large bar space downstairs with a pool table and a jukebox. Second, their menu regularly changes, so it's not fully available online, but they have some great local ingredients included on the menu. They also had a great drink menu. I tried the rosemary ginger daiquiri, the hot toddy, and the lavender paloma. All were really, really good! Since we had so many people, we ordered a round of appetizers for the table. We ordered the antelope tartare, rarebit, octopus and fries. I was really excited to try the antelop tartare and it was really delicious! (Surprisingly so!). I also loved the rarebit. The vegetables in the octopus dish were cooked extremely well and some of the best I've had! For our entrees, my friend and I split the burger and the hanger steak. The burger was good, but the hanger steak was really the highlight of the night. I haven't had steak that good in a while honestly. It was perfectly cooked! And they gave you a very good portion of the steak. There were several pieces. I wanted to be able to finish it all since it was so good, but I couldn't. The sides were also amazing. Overall, I would definitely recommend Standard Tap, especially if you have a large party. read more

I've not been here in quite awhile but was glad to be back. Due to Covid, a reservation is now needed and time is limited to 90 minutes. We were meeting friends we hadn't seen in a year so the time limit made it rushed. It was cold and rainy the day we were there. With both doors open downstairs it was uncomfortably chilly. The food was good. It's definitely high quality ingredients. The French toast slices were huge. It was cooked well. I asked for the accompaniments on the side. It unfortunately came smothered in confectioners sugar which I had to wipe off. It was also disappointing to get a tablespoon of apples for two large pieces of French toast . If serving fruit, it should be enough to eat with the whole entree. Many restaurants are very stingy with fruit. The egg, Canadien bacon and cheese Sammie was excellent. The eggs were cooked perfectly with a little softness in the yolk. The bun was also good. The ratios were good too. Duck eggs are used. They are very good. The brunch menu is rather small. read more
