What we ate: -Complimentary Duck fat fries: White cheddar + spicy ranch Garlic Parmesan + lemon truffle aioli Dill + bbq All were delicious and unique. I mixed and matched the sauces but my favorite was the spicy ranch. -Tuna rolls: okay, overpowered by pepper and greens. Unexpected tempura crunch inside each bite. -Apple salad. So good and refreshing and balanced. Tart and sweet and sour with the creamy dressing. -Brussels sprouts: tasted of sweet char and citrus. In my opinion the large strands of saffron were unnecessary and I would have gladly traded them for $10 off of our astronomical bill, haha. -Scallops: Perfect sear and perfect tenderness but a little too salty -Crab bernaise: just ok. Found a shell. A little sweet and too much rich bernaise for the portion of crab, unless pairing it with a bite of steak. -Angus filet: we enjoyed this beefy tender cut, but it wasn't anything special for the price. -Wagyu Denver cut (chef's choice of the night): probably the most tender, juicy, and flavorful bite of steak I've ever tried. And I've had A5 Wagyu countless times. For the price, this could be worth reserving for the most special of occasions. Sauce trio: -Chimichurri - so good and sour in the best way, just like a pickle. -Wine Jus - really balanced and thicker than expected. A perfect sauce for steak. Better than traditional steak sauce flavor. -Peppercorn - deep flavor development and more complex than I expected. -Crème brûlée: I don't know how we managed to eat this after indulging in all the other food, but it was utter perfection. Although the views are unparalleled and the service wonderful, the prices are just not worth it in my opinion. We also arrived promptly for our reservation and were directed to a central table within minutes. Despite ordering quickly after being seated, our steaks didn't arrive until 90 minutes after our reservation time. By that time we were ravenous so maybe that's what made those steaks so good.

We arrived for our reservation at 5:15 and we're seated right away. We had a beautiful view of the city and the service was top-tier. Every single dish tasted amazing. Our favorite dishes were the steaks, of course, and the broiled oysters. The old fashion was prepared in front of our table by one of the best mixologists. The complementary fries with different tasting sauces were an interesting treat. Would love to visit again when back in town.

Great food, sweet ambiance with panoramic view of the city. Very popular and high vibe in this trendy steak house. Bring extra cash because this is a high dollar place with extraordinary steaks and seafood. Who knows, who you might catch a glimpse of a celebrity there. We both had the Wago filet mignon and I like the apple chopped pecan salad and my husband had the massive perfectly baked potato. We ended up our meal with 3 deserts, a decadent chocolate torte, crème brûlée and a chocolate s'more that sent me over the edge. We have never eaten so many sweets in one sitting. I think I gained 5 pounds that night but we both enjoyed every minute. Michael, our server was also top end and made our dining experience perfect!

Went for a business dinner and the food was absolutely amazing. We had a big group so we ordered almost everything on the menu and I have to say you can't go wrong with anything. The service was also top notch. I will definitely be back!

I came here with a group of a friends for one of their birthdays. Once we got up the elevator (there was a line), we were quickly greeted. They had a birthday card ready to go. Multiple people came by throughout the night to wish our friend a happy birthday, which was great. Service was VERY attentive (but also not overdone). They were quick to fold napkins when you get up and to push in your chair when sitting down (I find the chair thing weird, but it's fancy I guess?). Our server knew the menu well and made some great recommendations. They bring you an appetizer of fries with a trio of dipping sauces (all delicious - but the fries were the part that really stood out). For apps (because we didn't know about the fries), we ordered the shrimp for the table. I also ordered the beef tartare, because I'd never tried it, and it was absolutely delicious! You wouldn't know it was raw beef from the flavor and texture. Next, I had the Orchard Apple salad. It didn't look like any salad I've ever had - kind of a stack of apples with stuff in between. This was probably my favorite dish of the night! Delicious. For the main, I had the 6 oz Wagyu filet. It was solid. We shared mashed potatoes for the table. They were too buttery for me, but some people really seemed to like them. Don't underestimate the butter: ... so ... much ... butter. We wrapped up the meal with too many desserts! The portion sizes were much bigger than we expected. They brought a little chocolate cake for our friend's birthday, and then we ordered the creme brûlée and the cheesecake. Both were really good, but I preferred the cheesecake. Finally as we were about to leave, they brought two small bags of caramel popcorn to take home. That was great as well, but more sugary than I preferred the day after this blow out of a meal. Overall, ambiance & view 5/5, food 5/5, service 5/5, prices 3/5. I'd come back, but I'd try to grab a drink somewhere else first and somewhere else after to save a bit of money. The food is great, but we spent $500 for 3 people with limited alcohol.

The views are the main event here. Beautiful location ... but don't underestimate the food. The meal starts with crispy fries and sauces. There are a few dishes you must try. The lobster pot pie is a work of art. I had the NY Strip which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The desserts were a perfect way to end an amazing meal.

Went there with my wife for our Anniversary. The food and service was fantastic! Jennifer was a great waitress! I had a ribeye steak for $85. The temperature was right-on (medium rare +). My wife had the Lobster pot pie for $115. It was amazing and deconstructed tableside. They showed up with a pot and put on a plate first by taking off the crust. It had a 2 pound lobster and many vegetables. We ordered the king crab mac n cheese and Brussel sprouts as sides. My wife and I shared a Caesar salad (they split it) with breaded anchovies and grated croutons. Very Good! I forgot to add that everyone received 3 containers of differently spiced truffle fries matched with special sauces. See my picture. Beignets for dessert came with a giant salted caramel container for dipping. YUM! Since it was our anniversary they gave us a special layered chocolate dessert. I forgot that they started us off with a glass of free champagne and a signed card from the employees welcoming us there for our anniversary. We were given a table with a city view next to the window; I reserved a table weeks in advance and requested an earlier time if one became available. They texted me during the day and were able to accommodate us. They bottles of wine were very expensive as well as bar drinks but you have to expect it. The recommended bottle of wine was $135 based on what we requested from the Wine Steward. Most were 200-300 and more. I highly recommend but book in advance. Is in the JW Marriott.

What an awesome experience! They sat us at the window so we could see Nashville from the 34th floor. Service was awesome, the best steak I've ever eaten! I ordered the A5 Japanese Wagyu Ribeye and my wife ordered the Australian Wagyu Filet. Sides were potato purer and brussel sprouts. Appetizer was the caviar Twinkie and we topped it off with the Old Fashion Infused Crème Brûlée. Definitely a great place to eat for a special occasion.

What an amazing experience in downtown Nashville, just a few blocks from the infamous Broadway Street. My evening began with an elevator ride up 34 stories to the top of the JW Marriott building. Here one has a 360-degree view of the sparkling city. We were seated by a window, which was a lovely plus. Instead of the usual bread basket for the tables, we were served a trio of duck fries with each container having its own unique seasoning and accompanying sauce. My favorites were the truffle fries and the BBQ sauce (note they were not paired together). I ordered the lobster pot pie for which they are quite noted. It was prepared table-side and served from a large pot with puff pastry oozing over the top. The server sliced the pastry and placed it on a large dish, ladling the contents of the pot on top. Filled with whole lobster claw meat, potatoes, spring onions, asparagus, and mushrooms in a delectable sauce reminiscent of lobster bisque. The 2-lb lobster had been quartered and then put back together so that the full lobster lay atop the served entree. It was incredibly delicious. Ended the night with some very unique beignets. Service was impeccable. I highly recommend this restaurant, especially for a key event like a birthday or anniversary. And the lagniappe: a bag of chocolate-covered popcorn to take home!

Outstanding food, service and views. The only negative was the surly hostess. I will excuse her, because the restaurant was packed on a Monday night. We were seated by the glass wall with killer views and it felt like we were in Manhattan. Our waitress Katerina was excellent and explained everything in detail and frequently checked in on us. Paul - the 'Whiskey specialist ' was outstanding and taught us a lot about Bourbon and American Whiskey. The food was outstanding. The tuna appetizer and the complimentary fries with 3 sauces were very good. My daily special Wagyu fried rice was to die for and my partner loved her sea bass. I was given a birthday card, free dessert and cara.el popcorn to take home. I just loved this place and would highly recommend it

We made reservation weeks ahead to ensure our dinner spot at this fancy popular restaurant. It's on the 34th floor of JW Marriott, with gorgeous 360 view of Nashville downtown. We arrived exactly on time and were taken to our table right away. The whole dining area looked modern, with a glass wine all on one side. I was so impressed they had a handwritten card on the table for our daughter's birthday. Our dinner started with a complementary set of fries. They put in 3 different types of fries with 3 different sauce. It was a nice bite size dish as we waited on our appetizers and entrees. We got the kid's butte pasta that tasted amazing, and also came with a giant fruit plate. We got the crab cake that was such a beautiful looking dish. The Twinkie caviar was a fun dish that actually came with a creamy Twinkie. For entree we got the signature Maine Lobster Pot Pie, a dish that they constructed right next to our table by cutting the crust of the pie and dumping the lobster and vegetables on top of it. It had huge chunks of a full lobster. The cream was delicious. We also got snake river rib, a perfectly cooked 8oz steak and side of seared scallops that soft like marshmallow. We finished our dinner the famous smoked campfire s'more. They also brought us an extra slide of cake with a candle to wish our daughter happy birthday. Overall we had a top notch dinner experience. Our server Brett was such a pro. All the staff members on the floor were so activate, all sharing the responsibilities of bringing out dishes, taking out empty plates, bringing drinks, anything they could do to ensure all guests were having a great time. It was our best dining experience during our Nashville trip. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an upscale luxurious dinner experience.

Excellent food and service at Bourbon Steak. We were here to celebrate a birthday. The dining area is spacious. Lots of sunlight comes in. We get to see views of the city. The food is impeccable. The plating is appealing. Flavors are all definitely there. Absolutely love the lobster biscuit dish (video) and the scallops. Even the pasta from kids menu is delicious. They gave everybody complimentary fries with three different dippings. They are unique tastings. Only 1 Elevator can access this restaurant. You might need to wait sometime, but it's worth it. Highly recommend for date nights or special events.

Sitting atop the JW in downtown Nashville, Bourbon Steak offers up city views with a side of delicious upscale eats and crafted cocktails! Being local to Nashville, we do not do too many hotel based restaurants, but on a recent outing, decided to treat ourselves to Bourbon Steak after a day of meetings. It was the perfect place to end a stressful day! The space is gorgeous, wide open with upscale decor, but slight retro vibes with all the curves through out. It is a wide open space with panoramic views of Nashville. While most tables have some sort of view, the bar area has a dedicated space for those who want all the views! To start our experience, we ordered a few cocktails and the Get Off My Lawn, a Gin based cocktail rooted in celery caught my eye. It was odd, but interesting and ultimately tasty! While we loaded up on appetizers, salads, mains, desserts and cocktails, one thing that I loved was the flight of fries and dipping sauces that they bring out as a complimentary starter for the table. Bread? Old news...gimme a flight of fries from now on! In addition to the fries, we went with the Wagyu Steak Tartare, a Wedge and Orchard Apple salad to share. From there we all went in different directions with our mains. I got the Miso Glazed Sea Bass, while my tablemates went with steak and chicken dishes. We paired our dishes with mac and cheese, potato puree, Brussels and broccolini. Everything was divine and cooked to perfection! To round our meal out, we all shared the Bananas Tart Tatin, a delightful and delicious way to end our meal! As you can imagine, service was impeccable from entry to exit. As we were wrapping up, they dropped off a couple of bags of house packaged popcorn, which added an extra delight on an already wonderful meal! Overall, Bourbon Steak is worth it. Whether you are staying at the JW, nearby or are a local, give it a shot!

Ask the Community - Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina

We're going to be arriving in Nashville by air from Puget Sound WA late afternoon and this is our first dinner choice. We will be travel weary and hungry but don't want to show up under dressed.…

It's casual even though it's a fine dining restaurant. But some had on tennis shoes and t shirts. But no athletic gear.

Is it true there is free 4 hr valet parking with dining here?

    That's correct!!

We can't get a dinner reservation, can we eat at the bar?

Yes, the bar is first come first serve. I also found success in getting a reservation by calling even though the website showed no availability.

What's the price range and how much should I expect to spend for a casual dinner for 2?

Average $150-200. If you're into wine or alcoholic beverages, expect more.

I already have a reservation for June 26 at 5:15PM for 6 people, but since we will be acknowledging a couple of birthdays with gifts, could I request a window seating or, at least, an out of the way table, so that we are not a distraction for others?

Hi Richard. We are excited to celebrate with you on Sunday! You can make your request through our reservations tool in the "special comments" box at NashvilleBourbonSteak.com as well as in-person when you arrive. Window seating is limited, however,…

Do you have to be staying at the hotel to make reservations and eat here, I know most of the hotels you need a door card to use the elevators?

No you do not need to stay. There is a separate elevator for the restaurant.

We're having trouble with the phone number provided on all forums, is there an updated phone number?

    Can you for drinks only?

Yes, you may join us at Bourbon Sky–– which opens daily at 4PM.

Are shorts an polo shirts acceptable?

As your last resort, but I would not want my husband going in shorts. :/

We walked in around 5:00 PM, and there were very few people in the bar. We had a party of six, so we sat down at a table and waited. After sitting there for a while without anyone coming over, I finally went to the bar. Shortly after that, a waitress came to our table, so I went back and we placed our order. Then came another long wait, we waited about 20 minutes just to get our drinks, even though the bar was nearly empty. On the bright side, the drinks were great. I ordered an El Carajillo, and it was really good! The horchata crème in it was SOOOO good and definitely the highlight of the visit. Unfortunately, the service issues continued. When the waitress brought the check for me to sign, I realized she had not returned my credit card. I had to track her down to get it back, and while doing so, I ran into another customer who had experienced the exact same thing. They have great drinks and normally provide a good experience, so hopefully this was just an off night. But on this particular Friday evening, with the bar barely occupied, the service definitely missed the mark.
