This place... oh man! I wish I found this place sooner! I didn't exactly find this place... a buddy of mine referred me to this shop... he bought a bow from Bruce over 10yrs ago!!! So I drove all the way out to the shop, I got my bow as a gift and was having some issues with it... mainly because it wasn't set up right and I'm new to bows so I didn't know any better. He took his time with me... he would tweak the bow have me draw it and make adjustments. He literally took his time! He made multiple fine adjustment and catered to what I needed not what people usually do or get. I was putting arrows next to each other dead center by the time I left the shop. I was referred to come here by one of the kind locals at the Balboa Park Archery Range.... I needed to purchase some more arrows for my "lil" Archery dude.... A little tricky to find, but close to the Lakeside Skate Park/ Lindo Lakes, literally two blocks if that away, so you can understand the vicinity. I thought, I will just pop in, pick up some arrows and out I go... Nope.... they are a little more specific than that... (specifics I was unaware of) They measured the length of my son's arms, helped us pick out the arrows, and they went in the back and custom cut/sized each Carbon Fiber Arrow. I am still new to all this. The shop was busy inside, I was a little intimidated, let's just say I am more familiar with Surf Shops and Skate Shops, not Archery Hunting Shops... Anyways... I hadn't shot a bow in 30 years when I decided to get back into it. I went in feeling a little out of place and hesitant due to the fact that most small shops in the outdoor industry are a bit condescending and unwelcoming to people new to the sport/hobby they cater to. Right when i walked in the door I instantly knew this was not that kind of place, I was greeted and welcomed in by everyone there. Bruce and Ernest spent over an hour answering my questions. I decided to buy a new bow not only for me but a new one for my wife also right then and there. They made absolute sure that before I left the shop my new bow was set, tuned, and dialed in specifically to me, Even though I walked in so close to closing time. I've been back a few times now for upgrades and new stuff and every time I go in I feel like I'm walking into see a friend. The shop has a great vibe and everyone there has a great attitude, they make you feel like you just Wana grab a drink and hang out for a while. Through accident and happenstance I traded a bow for some long forgotten guitar gear. I had thought I'd gotten a phenomenal deal for a really cool recurve bow and went inside the nearest bow shop to have it strung up at once so I could begin my archery training. My bow,I would learn, had pretty severe warping in the top limb and was unsafe to shoot in any situation, especially the Rambo-esque bow training I had in store for myself. Not wanting to pony up the nearly $89 for new limbs, I left the store dejected, wondering if I'd ever shoot a bow in anger again. Or for pleasure for that matter. Well, that happy day came when I could afford the exorbitant $90 tag, and went into the Bow and Arrow Shop in Lakeside, fully prepared to cough it up and begin my intensive archery career poste haste. It was in a little strip mall tucked away, upon entering I was greeted by a large friendly man who listened to my twisted tale about my twisted recurve bow limb. "Lemmi check that thing out", he said as I handed it over. He strung it up in a split second and began drawing back the bow a few times before agreeing that the limb was indeed bent. He had asked another employee to search in the back to see if they had replacement limbs from my model of recurve bow, but at the same time I watched him, with my own two eyes mind you, begin to take my bow and get it into what I can only describe as a headlock. This particular shop keep was a big boy and so strong that before the other employee could return with the replacement limbs, he managed to counter-contort the limb (by hand) enough that he handed it back to me declaring it perfectly safe to use, no need to buy new limbs. Big Boy was 100% right and I've been using that recurve for a couple of months now every day enjoying the heck out of it and shooting bullseyes every time!! Every word I just typed is true (minus the bullseye every time part). I've dragged my brother and another friend of mine into the hobby as well and told them the tale of what went down at Lakeside Bow and Arrow Shop that day. Maybe that's some thing that man did on a regular basis, I had no idea. All I know, is it was 100% impressive. And 100% appreciated. I've been back several times since, the entire staff is extremely helpful it's a great little shop stocked with everything you need to get going all the way up to go for safari. They'll outfit you. First time to this shop today and I am seriously impressed with their customer service. Outside your first thought is Mom and Pop shop, which I completely love. I automatically think the people inside will be "real" and genuine. Once you open the door you see friend and knowledgeable people behind the counter and walking around. During COVID, they're by appointment only. However, I had no appointment, but Nick invited us right in. He inspected my bow, did a quick warranty service for a missing bolt, and hand cut me a half dozen arrows with field points in 15 minutes. Super friendly, super fast and awesome to work with. It was a relatively slow day the the shop so Bruce spent over an hour fine tuning my technique and bow. Couldn't be happier with the result on my PSE Drive 3B. Another shop suggested I needed a new arrow rest, which would've cost an additional $150, but just looking at my bow Bruce was able to determine what needed some adjustments. Lo and behold, my bow is firing better than ever! These guys aren't afraid to give you the honest opinion about what is going on with your bow and your technique. If you can't handle constructive criticism, look elsewhere. Bought my bow 4 years and it has worked flawless. I brought it in to get it looked at since I haven't fired it in a while; they spent 20 minutes waxing it, tightening it, and inspecting everything on the bow. These guys are the people to see when it comes to bows. Novice or experienced these guys will help you out. I'm in an awkward position as my wife started bow hunting when she was 14! Where I have never bow hunted in my life. So I've shot my wife's bow a little, but not too much. I came into the shop, talked with the guys and explained my situation. They pulled a couple bows off the wall, got them set up for my draw length and weight and let me shoot them. They let me try 2 different styles of releases. They spent so much time with me and explained everything in such great detail I feel comfortable making a purchase. I have an appointment to go back in this week and I'm going to shoot a few more bows and make my final decision on which one I want. I was in the store today for probably 2-3 hours and these guys were awesome. I 100% recommend them to anyone. I cannot explain the level of customers service I had in this store on a busy Saturday. I talked to all 4 employees that were in the store and they were all equally great. Even regular customers who came in, the way they interacted with the staff was awesome. Everyone was comfortable and having a good time. Even my wife, who is a very experienced bow hunter said this was the best archery shop she's ever been too. Bruce has spent *hours* over the last five years helping me get the most out of a bow I bought at another shop. Yesterday I decided to upgrade to a new bow, although Bruce told me three times "your bow is still good, you can buy new parts for it online much cheaper than buying a new bow." How often do you find that kind of candor? Bruce rather lose a sale than give anything less than the best possible advice. There's a word for that: integrity. In the end, he guided me into a Bowtech Solution SS which gave me a smooth easy draw, compact size and lighter weight but still with plenty of zip. I came in here wanting to try a thumb release and they spent their time letting me shoot a few until I decided on one I liked. After feeling discouraged about my experiences at other local shops I stopped in to check this place out and was immediately greeted by the owner Bruce he was very busy at the time, even so he asked if he could look at my bow to make sure it was shooting right and he wouldn't charge me for it!, Other shops charge you for bows you didn't buy at their store, I am glad I did, he not only fixed and tuned my bow that was not tuned properly the worst he had seen, he also wanted to see how I was shooting it and helped me correct some bad habits. This is a great archery specific shop for archers of all types...hunting, target, field archery, etc. This is not a sporting goods store or super box store of the outdoor variety. Family owned and operated store. It would be a challenge to find a better archery store in San Diego. Employees are always nice and professional and really want to make you a better shooter without ripping a hole in your pocket like other archery stores I've shopped in. The prices are very fair and they do "appreciate" return service. They do carry a good selection of supplies and if they don't have it, they will order it for you. If you are looking for a new bow; then come here, they will allow you to pay for your bow over time without any interest. This store is a little more focused on bow hunting but can order any equipment you may need for your tournament bow. Wow! What a fantastic store! The owner and staff are very helpful, honest and truly do serve their customers - you walk out feeling like you are valued, and have exactly what you need. My husband and I went in there to ask about a compound bow our twins got as a gift that needed adjusting, they adjusted it with no problems, and helped set it up for them. While we were there, I tried out a recurve bow and loved it so much that we bought it. The staff was wonderful, helpful and very patient as I learned how to sight and fire it properly. Having shopped at all three main archery stores in San Diego, I have to say that Bow N Arrow Shop has the best customer service hands down! I actually purchased a bow at a different shop closer to where I live, but came to find out that it was not set up properly even after returning to the store a few times for adjustments. I brought my bow to Bow N Arrow shop and the staff were MUCH better at helping me out! They were able to adjust not only my bow but also my form and anchor point so that it worked better for how I shoot. I truly appreciated that they explained why things weren't working properly and how to fix it so I can make a conscious decision on what to improve. Everyone is super friendly and you really feel like they care about making you a better archer. Shout out to Nick, Ernest, Bruce, and Jim for the excellent experience. Just took my 15 year old daughter to get her first bow and arrow kit for target shooting at Bow N Arrow. The shop was very busy but everyone working there was attentive, polite and efficient at getting everyone served. More importantly, they were all incredibly passionate about helping us get the right gear and knowing how to use it. This is the kinda shop I wish I had locally. I purchased a bow from another shop and was disappointed with the customer service. I have been to several shops from central to south California and was blown away when I started talking to them. Bruce took a look at my bow and my shooting and quickly made some adjustments. I have been trying to identify an issue that has caused inconsistencies and he identified it within a couple shots. Each draw is now lined up and my release is identical each time.
