I very much enjoyed my time at Bowstring. There's a huge amount of outdoor seating, there was live music across the parking lot from where we were sitting and it sounded good. My drink was delicious, a watermelon mimosa. The food looked good, I had eaten dinner before, so I didn't have any, but my friends had pizza, wings, garlic knots and they looked and smelled delicious. The only thing that was weird was that if the parking lot is full you have to park around the corner and leave your car in a parking lot and then take a shuttle bus back to Bowstring. If I had been alone I would not have liked that. read more

Great outdoor seating! The yard area is huge, and it gets full sun which is great in the winter and not as great in the summer. The patio space has plenty of heaters for wintertime, and the inside space has good seating. They even offer games, bar seating, and they have roll-up doors for great weather days. The pizza is delicious. The wings had good flavor but they were definitely over baked and small. The beer selection isn't great, but unlike some "breweries", they have liquor as well. read more

Three stars because this place is expensive for what you get. But they have vegan pizza, which is a plus. Always on the look out for Vegan/Vegetarian options. The drinks(cocktails) are $10 - $13 dollars, they come in clear plastic cups. They are easy drinking, and minimal alcohol. Noone at the table could taste any alcohol in the drinks, but on a hot day you don't get too picky. The better option will probably be to go for the beer on tap. Pretty good rotation and mix. Service is good. From what I could tell there were 2 different sections to eat and drink. You order at the bar and get a number to put on your table. They have 2 overflow parking lots, one of which is a 3-5 min shuttle away. No extra cost for the shuttle, but tipping signs placed with in view sight. I suppose if you stick to beer and just plain cheese slices, the place is worth it. Don't know that I would go back due to price/quality of the drinks & food. read more

A large group of us visited here recently for the first time. It looked like a fun place and we were looking to enjoy ourselves, which we did. We ordered quite a bit of food and drinks. We liked the pizzas, but the wings were below average, as were the mixed drinks. The girl at the counter could have been friendlier, but in her defense, it was somewhat busy. The question I have is regarding the charge, which I didn't look at closely enough until later. I was charged $10 dollars tax on an $81. bill (see picture), which comes out to about 13.24 % tax. I'm not from NC, so maybe there is something that explains this that I'm not aware of. I didn't notice any signage there that explained any hidden charges, and neither did the receipt. I visited other restaurants in the area, and the tax was much lower. Hopefully, it is legit, and the person who monitors this page can explain it. Otherwise, I'd say there's something going on here that shouldn't be. read more

Ugh, was excited when told about bowstring but it was not for me. For starters, the parking is horrendous. I went to one of the overflow lots, only to be told my the business that it is not overflow parking and if i didn't move my car, it would be towed. from there, had to park in a pretty hard to maneuver lot about an 8 minute walk away. I've tried not to be biased and judge a place on new covid related things but WOW does this have a lot of outdoor seating, and kid friendly. Really this is where you come for games, outdoor seating, space. Now they don't brew their own beer which was a slight letdown, and I didn't see any specials other than crown on a Sunday... which I'm not really that much of a partier. But kid friendly for sure! This place is really cool! There's a great drink selection, lots of outdoor seating, games inside, and the pizza was delicious. It's awesome that they sell both whole pies and slices. They may have changed up their pizza recipe recently because a lot of the photos look different from what they're serving now but maybe the also sell mini pizzas. It would be cool if they'd add some more non-alcoholic options to the menu as well in case I'm stopping by for slices with people that don't drink. I'll definitely be back! read more

We stopped in for after-work drinks on a rainy Wednesday and practically had the place to ourselves although I can see it being popular on a pretty day. We only enjoyed cocktails so I'll be back to update after a future visit that includes the $10 pizzas. There's a decent wine menu selection, good cocktail lineup (although our Bulleit Old Fashioneds were a little too heavy on the Ango and Luxardo), and a nice variety of local taps. Okay...we went on a Saturday afternoon around 4:00, parking lot was already full and we had two toddlers so parking in the extra lot, across the street behind snoops wasn't ideal, but we did it. The side patio was reserved for a private event and then the lawn area was also being sold as a "ticked" event since they had bands which wasn't communicated at all on social or the website. We ended up grabbing a picnic table where the lawn games are and it was fine. Pizza was delicious, I thought it was well worth the price even though others said it's overpriced. We've wanted to check this place out for a while. On a prior attempt, there was a sign saying it was a 1-2 hour wait for a pizza so we left. Returned this past weekend; Saturday afternoon. Parking is scarce. Then I thought there might be Bowstring beer - but that must not be a thing. They have about 10 rotating (?) taps. Didn't love the choices, either (only lager or pilsner was like a big Mexican beer company, nothing local or craft). The beers and cocktails we ordered were served in plastic cups! The cocktails were so basic - Tito's and soda and they charged me $13 for a single and $16 for a double (which makes no sense - so $3 for the vodka and $10 for a plastic cup of club soda?). No idea why it is so popular. Never tried the pizza but the rest of the experience told me all I need to know. read more

We went for the first time and they literally had no COVID-19 protocols. No bartender was wearing a mask, and no guest was asked to. The bartenders were vaping while customers were waiting in line, which says all I need to know about management. There was no social distancing enforced of any kind. Features two large outdoor spaces with partial shade that are family and pet friendly-- a grass yard with picnic tables (kind of like Ponysaurus in Durham) and a patio adjacent to the main bar building. Enter the bar to order a drink then go sit outside. All staff was wearing masks. Good selection on tap with a mix of local breweries and other standard beers. Wine available too! read more

This place is great. I came out to see my friends band play here. I noticed they had some bad reviews but I couldn't disagree more. The staff and service was A+. Super welcoming, kind, and helpful. Great space. Parking is not bad, but this place is great so of course it's going to fill up fast! The pizza was pretty solid (coming from a New Yorker). And it came out in under 10 minutes. This is a fun spot! Stopped in here with a group of about 10. There are two sitting areas, one near the bar and the other quite far away with a bunch of picnic tables. We ended up at the picnic tables and it was a bit of a hike to come back in for a beer or to use the bathroom, but there was a lot of seating. The picnic tables have fake grass under them, that we noticed had a lot of ants and mosquitoes in it. We ordered two pizzas, one was a cheese and one was a supreme. The pizza was huge and pretty good. The real winner though was the buffalo wings which were really delicious! They have a nice selection of beer on tap, and there are some options for non-craft beer drinkers like cocktails and standard lagers etc. I do have one gripe about this place, and it's the parking. The parking lot is so tiny and you're forced to pretty much park at a random lot down the street. When we got there we had to park over there and walk about a quarter of a mile to get back over. Not super annoying, just kind of inconvenient. At the end of the night they had a shuttle that brought us back to the parking lot, which was nice. We went to watch live music and eat pizza. They have a covered music space outside along with a full service bar outside. The food was very good and the service was great. They have live music from Wednesday through Sunday. They also invite pups in the music venue and have water bowls for them. Oh and if you get bored, you can play Jinga or dance. read more

I felt incredibly uncomfortable here. It felt like a super spreader event for COVID-19 full of careless college students. They were not limiting the amount of people, they were not enforcing masks for customers, they were not promoting social distancing. The pizza was good, the beer on tap was refreshing, although we had to rush to drink it and leave because we did not feel safe with the lack of health and safety measures. I hope this does not reflect poorly on the pizza truck, but the rest of the brewyard needs to do way better. read more

Glad to see another place open with lots of outdoor space. The service was little below par but with enough waving to get attention you can get a server. We sat at a table outside (side porch). Pizza was pretty good (food truck partner). Drinks were good. The place got busier and busier while we were there. As we were leaving, we could not help but to notice how packed it was inside with more than 9 out of 10 people in the packed crowd not wearing masks and less than a half foot apart from each other. Disappointed and disturbing to see that. Likely the next covid super spreader event/location. Didn't get a good photo of it as we didn't want to go near that situation. But if you zoom indoors, you can see a glimpse- what you see is about 5% of the actual crowd size. The place was packed with people talking loudly over each other, closely standing and packed, and again only about 10% of the people in the packed indoor crowd wore masks. The walls/doors are open to let air in but the place was so packed it didn't matter and still indoors with only one side of the four walls open. A very typical bar scene of pre-covid days. We all miss those days... boy do I miss it... but with this kind of behavior accepted at establishments like this is why the covid positive number is going up exponentially and more deaths everyday. read more

Flew in from out of state, visiting my daughter. Ordered pizza and 2 appetizers. They said it would be 55-65 minutes for delivery which I was ok with. I could track the delivery driver and saw where she was waiting on my order for a long time (around 25 minutes) It was finally delivered almost 2 hours after placing my order and the garlic knots were just hard bread knots with no butter/garlic and no marinara. The same for the mozzarella sticks, cold and no marinara. The pizza had pretty good flavor, if I were to try them again I would definitely go in person. read more

This is a hidden gem in Raleigh. After driving past the place and number of times we finally decided to give it a shot. The place is split into a garage-like main area, which has Gulf Oil decor, board games and a cool post industrial vibe. There's also a brew yard that had live music and a pet friendly area. I am all around impressed. I grew up in Raleigh and so wish this were around when I was in my 20s. We visited on a busy, beautiful Sunday, 2 families with 4 kids between us, plus our sweet puppy. The bartenders are efficient and business like, the food (Vic's food truck) is great. They even have gluten free pizza and baked wings for my borderline celiac daughter. I love that Bowstring has fancy beers on tap (that my companions drank) but aren't so fussy that they refuse to serve light beer because let's face it, beer snobs, switching to light beer is a difference maker on the next day, especially when you start with the delicious Watermelon Mint Margarita like I did!
