Los Cerritos Mall is my go to mall and we always make sure to stop by BoxLunch. They always have a great selection of pop culture merchandise. A big portion of it is clothing but they have funko, loungeflys and other neat items. Most of the workers are really nice but there was an issue one time that made me really upset. We were looking at wallets that are located inside a locked clear box. That's fine we were looking to see the inventory as my friend wasted a new Disney wallet. Now this box is located right where the line to pay starts. A worker asked us, and I might add not in a nice way, if we were in line. We said no we're looking at the wallets and she proceeds to tell us we need to move out of the way then if we are not in line. How are we supposed to move out the way if we want to look and we're actually going to purchase. We tell the worker we wanted to get a wallet that was locked up and she looked so annoyed and ended up calling a worker who had the key and then just left. The worker who ended up helping us at the end was super nice and showed us the matching backpack that went with one of the wallets which we did end up purchasing also. The encounter we had with the first worker was honestly really unprofessional and rude. I'm glad the second worker saved our trip. First off, I went in this location in December to purchase items. I was going to only buy one item but the sales associate pressured me to buy more items. She was explaining that the box lunch money is just like kohls cash. But in reality it is not. The sales rep told me over the phone that all it is, a coupon for 50-60% off. So in order for me to spend the $80 box lunch money I would have to purchase $160. So this girl not only pressured me to buying more unnecessary stuff but she also lied to me on how the box lunch money works and falsified in order to get more sales for herself. Such an easy, great experience. I placed on online order for pickup at this location and everything went great. I got notified when my order was ready and once I walked into the store I was kindly welcomed. I wish I remembered her name but she was the only one there at 10:30 am on 2/18/22 and was being super helpful to every customer despite being the only employee there. This store has been absolutely nothing but helpful and wonderful ever since I started coming here. I always tell myself (and them!) that I'll write a review so here I am, doing exactly that. Since Janelle (sorry if I butchered the spelling!!) has been working there, she's been nothing but an absolute delight in not only customer service, but making sure that she always goes out of her way to make sure her guests get the best deals and experiences while in the store. She helped me choose between getting a certain Studio Ghibli shirt, but I ended up walking out with 2 because she informed me they were on sale!! Today, my friend and I walked in to redeem our lunch money and we were immediately greeted by Ember who struck up a conversation with us and informed us of the sales going on! She was super helpful and lovely to talk to about our obsessions with Disney stuff. I found a Fantasia book that had some damages on it and she has no problem in offering me a discount on the item due to the cosmetics of the item. When I was rung up, it was by a girl named Yanira and she was super awesome and even helped us discover that the stationary kit I wanted was part of a promotion where I only had to pay $16 for 3 of them! The staffing of the Cerritos Boxlunch has significantly been one of the best experiences I've had when coming to a mall, especially when it's as crowded as Cerritos can get. My all time favorite store! I've been to many locations this one has to be my #1 I'm able to go to this one since it's the closest location to me now! The customer service is amazing! I have shopped at various BoxLunch stores and most of them are very friendly, but the BoxLunch in Los Cerritos really made an impression on me. I walked in and didn't see the Pixar Alien pin that was released. I approached Amber and asked her to help. She noticed that they were sold out since it is no longer hanging on the wall. Instead of telling me they were sold out, she found one in the drawer that she was saving it for herself and offer it to me. Amber didn't even hesitate and went above and beyond to make sure I get this pin. I was very impressed with her customer service and the other staff in the store. BoxLunch is always a go-to store for me when I visit the mall. There's always something new to look at, but my complaint when visiting the store today was the customer service. I was ready to purchase my item and I greeted the two employees talking at the counter since they did not acknowledge me standing in front of them. They did not greet me back, but instead called over another employee to take me to the kiosk outside the store to make my payment. The employee that checked me out was quite rude to me as well, actually. She was watching a show on her phone and made no eye contact with me the entire time with quite a passive tone. I love to shop at Box Lunch! But at this Cerritos location the staff is not that friendly or helpful! They need to be trained on how to best greet and be helpful to their customers. I once came to this location to pick up a big order which came in a big box. The ladies that retrieved my order literally gave me the entire box WITHOUT placing the items in a shopping bag. Now call me crazy but.. i thought all store employees were trained to place orders into a shopping bags for their customers... especially if it is a big box with many items! The box was large and heavy to carry and i got a little frustrated walking around the store with a big box. FINALLY one of the male staff members got the hint and offered to place items in bag for me! What a hero! And when i have bought things from the store (including this week) the staff behind the counter never say "have a good day" or make conversation of any kind. They just ring you up and send you out without any enthusiasm. BOTTOM LINE: at this Box Lunch location the staff behind the counter need to improve on their customer service ethics and not let their customers walk out with package boxes of any kind!
