I hate to say this since Anna was really nice, but I have never, ever had a worse haircut in my entire life--80s childhood included. My hair is curly and I asked for some layers, but what I got was an actual, real-life mullet. The stylist (at a different salon) who attempted to fix what was left of my hair just kept saying, "I'm just completely baffled by this..." BEWARE. Its gonna take years to grow this out. read more

This was an honest hair cut. I wasn't offered horrible champagne or instant cappuccino (but could have gone for a glass of water.) I told the stylist I don't use product or blow dry at home. So she didn't either. Rhiannon gave me exactly what I wanted: a low maintenance cut that looks good with a simple air dry. I just had my hair cut by Aaron, who did a great job and was friendly, nice, and understood what I was looking for. I came in with long hair and a dying perm. I was looking to get rid of my split ends and to start over with a cute, soft bob. I liked that he knew what I was looking for, but set my expectations up front (I mean it was a perm). In the end, he was able to deliver what I had wanted! Great job! For people who need a late day or weekend time slot, the place seems to be booked about a week in advance, so plan for that! read more

She does an AMAZING job cutting and styling to work with my natural hair texture. This place is incredibly affordable relative to comparable quality cuts you'd get in the city AND the service is so much better and less pretentious. Didn't try to convey a complicated style, just let him take a look at my hair, let him know how I wear it and what I need it to represent and told him to use his best judgement and make me look good. So I live in Cincinnati Ohio and wanted to get a NYC hair cut that would not make me look like a soccer mom (or grandma, I'm 55). I looked at the reviews here on Yelp and decided to get my hair cut by Lisa and made an appointment. So the salon itself is ok, not high or low end. Pretty much a mirror, a chair, and a small table, similar to a night table and there might be 6 or 7 stations. When Lisa came over she took me to her chair, asked me what I wanted to do to my hair(I told her what ever she thought would look good). She asked me what I didn't like about my last hair cut and said she had a plan. She sent me back to get my hair washed (girl washing hair, not so great). Then I got the best hair cut of my life. I have wavy, damaged (from coloring it to get the grey out) old hair that Lisa made look great. She balanced out my hair and I love it. Lisa was friendly, however, not a big talker (which I like, she's thinking about cutting my hair after all). I look edgy and love it. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the shampoo girl and they did not brush the little cut hairs off my neck.....I recommend this place and Lisa.....every customer that I saw left with a great cut! I asked for Jen based on the reviews. I told her I had a baby so I wanted something very easy. I have Asian hair which looks easy to cut but is really not, because it's super thick and can look shaggy if someone layers it the wrong way. I used to go to a Japanese place in the city (the ONLY place I trust, and I've lived in NYC for eight years and I have tried every kind of hairdresser), but I finally decided to try boyluvgirl on someone's recommendation, since it's so much more convenient. She did a great job. She kept joking about how the other guy gets the fun super short cuts (the guy next to her was doing an amazing super short cut on the girl next to me), but she didn't push me to do anything too risky because she knew I needed something very wash-and-wear. in fact when I asked if I should do something different, more risky, she was honest bout how far I should without getting annoyed by bang lengths, etc. Anyway, her cut was great and it's been months since I got it, and since I've been so busy, I haven't had a chance to go back yet, but every few weeks people keep asking whether I have had a great new hair cut, because it has been growing out so well. I always think that's the best test of a cut - how well it grows out. I love how it falls and looks. Highly recommend and will go back again. read more

I love it. I went to Latesha, Kudos. She was very knowlegdeble when it came to handling my hair. I wish there were before and after photos, because I went in a damaged hair walking Mom to a "Damn girl your hair look good". And the long hours I use to spend at the salon I went in for a relaxer and cut. Three hours tops. She is a professional, passionate young woman who takes pride in what she does and knows how to take care of her clients. I hope I am getting the spellings correct but Ana the manager very professional and down to earth, Rihanna very sweet and funny. Also when I first arrived at the salon I was about to walk pass it because I would never had guessed it was but as I entered the ambiance was awesome, very trendy and not overated. I loved it. Like I said Latesha with her magic hands hooked up my relaxer, was very attentative to me and her cuts are amazing, I can't wait till they open the new salon in November, and yeah my hubby LoVeS the new look, much KuDoS and Thanks:) read more
