I LOVE that Bozeman has a legit Taproom. As a proud beer snob, it's killed me the last few years to return to Montana and struggle to find beers from all of the new breweries that I have popped up. Most businesses are sticking with the crowd favorites, and don't really get to mix it up and dig deeper in to the other great beers that are out there. That's where this place is nailing it. BY FAR the best tap list I've ever seen in Montana. I'm not even sure I've seen anything close, aside from maybe an Old Chicago. The Good: So much. Huge fan of the variety on the tap list. I was able to geek out and try a ton of great MT beers that I'd never had before. That brings me to the next good thing: the 5oz pours. With so many beers I needed to try, I was glad to have a small enough pour that I could still walk out of the place (not crawl). Also have to mention glassware. Beyond the variety in the sizes, I also liked the tulip/snifter beer glasses for the better pours of beer. Extra bonus points for the 10oz pours, too, my favorite beer bars in PDX all offer this size, and it's the perfect size to mix it up on a normal day. While I didn't get to go up on the rooftop (stupid Winter), I would have practically lived up there during the Summer months of my college years. I'm lucky this place didn't exist, to be honest... The IDK: I didn't try the food, so can't speak on it. I like the idea of all the imports, but I'd rather see more MT/WY/ID breweries on those taps. For a visitor like me, that's what's most exciting. The Bad: Everything on this Yelp page circles back to the service, which was totally adequate for me, bellied up to the bar. That said, it's my only knock on the place. For me, a beer bar needs to be a line up at the bar and order from one of 2 or 3 beertenders who knows the product. To truly beer bar correctly, you need to be able to sample a couple of things, get a full view of their HUGE tap list, and get some advice based on what you like from an educated beertender. Food could also be ordered at the bar, with food runners bringing it out to the tables. People might be slow to adjust, but to really experience the beer bar, you should be having that direct interaction. Overall, I was blown away by this place. Hats off to the brave souls who decided to introduce MT to true beer nerd culture. read more

The servers were really nice, the kitchen however is abysmal. We ordered a burger and nachos. After a more than 50 minute wait we still had not gotten our order. Our server had checked with the kitchen who told her our order was the next one up. Three more tables were served and we still did not have our food. When our serverer checked again we found out only the hamburger had been started the rest of the order had not. We paid for the single ale my husband had ordered and left. Do: Come here for the beer, and the live music when they have it. Their beer selection is fantastic, the staff has always been amazing. The rooftop in the summer is superb. We stopped in here to catch the Husky game and enjoy a meal + some microbrews before continuing on to Coeur D'Alene. The other place across the street was fully packed with no breathing room so we decided this place was ideal once we saw that they were serving food! We had the Cask IPA, seasonal Kombuch ginger selection, Capone sandwich, salad, and soup of the day homemade corn chowder. The beer - phenomenal. The food - fresh and delicious. One beer we ordered was supposed to be a Ballast Point Imperial Stout but tasted off, so we told the server and she quickly went to investigate. She figured out it was he end of the keg and offered to replace it with something else since it wasn't up to snuff. The crowd was mostly college folks but everyone was pretty tame watching the game except for one person who was alone in celebrating every time the huskies lost the ball or made an error against the opposing team. read more

Decided to give this place a try after seeing some amazing photos of the view from the rooftop patio, and the views did not disappoint! The Bozeman Taproom has a really great selection of beer - see live tap list on the wall - and they have a ton of large TVs if you're trying to catch a game and a beer. I didn't try the food, but grabbed a spot on the patio. There is a sign that says to seat yourself, but I was a little unclear on whether you're served at your table, or supposed to visit the bar for service so I wound up walking up to the bar to order a beer and cash out so I could enjoy the views. They really do have a nice selection and you can't beat the view of the mountains. I mean, what more do you need in life? read more

Super fun vibe. We sat on the rooftop. Gorgeous day outside a couple weeks ago. The bartender was very busy but still very attentive and friendly with us. 5 stars for the beer selections but my experience this evening was only 1 star due to the servers ignoring me and my friend. I've been to the Taproom many times the past 3 years and the service has always been hit or miss. We bought our beers at the downstairs bar and received quick service from the bartender. We went to the rooftop and were greeted initially and then totally ignored for the next hour! There were only a handful of people up on the rooftop and we tried flagging one particular server 3 times. Also, the other server never asked if we wanted another beer or if we wanted to order food. I got frustrated and went back to the downstairs bar to get our second beer. If I wanted to drink beer and be ignored then I would drink at home! I challenge the Manager to have words with these 2 servers about there total lack of concern for their customers. read more
