Every time…read morewe visit Calivirgin Winery in Lodi, we always hope Rachelle is there--and that alone says a lot. She has a way of making each visit feel special without trying too hard. She's welcoming, genuine, and incredibly knowledgeable, but never overwhelming. Instead, she creates a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer and come back again. What really sets her apart is her consistency. It's not just one great visit--every time we've been there, she's gone above and beyond with the same positive energy and attention to detail. Because of her, this winery has become our go-to spot. I even celebrated my 50th birthday here, and it was such a memorable experience. All of my guests couldn't stop talking about how amazing Rachelle was--everyone felt taken care of, comfortable, and truly impressed with the service. The winery itself is beautiful, accommodating, and perfect for gatherings, which made the celebration even better. On top of that, the entire team at Calivirgin is fantastic. Everyone we've interacted with has been friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming, which really adds to the overall experience. The wine is excellent, the setting is great, and the people are what truly make this place stand out for us. We'll absolutely keep coming back, and a big reason for that is Rachelle.

Last weekend on a trip to Sacramento, I finally had a chance to stop by their Olive Mill and Winery. There is a nice sparking clean outdoor patio with picnic tables within a few steps from the olive oil grove but it was a bit hot that day so we opted to sit inside. In addition to the olive oil tasting set, there were some brunch items such as a crostini and salad as well as a Mediterranean plate with hummus. We opted for the crostini, olive oil tasting and a cappuccino. The jalapeño olive oil was unique and flavorful enough that we bought a couple bottles of it to take home. The pear vinaigrette was thick and tangy. The waitresses were friendly and helpful when we had a couple questions about the dishes. The shelves in the shop area is full of flavored olive oils and vinaigrette as well as ceramic and a whole slew of items for serving charcuterie. If you are a fan of olive oil and are planning on a trip up to Sacramento or Lake Tahoe, would definitely recommend stopping by to check out Calivirgin.

Out of this world. The breading was thin and crispy, and the dipping sauce was yummy. We had the catch of the day. It came with risotto that was perfectly seasoned and cheesy. My friend had the Parpadelle. She said it was prepared perfectly, and al dente just like she likes it. We definitely would return for some more spins around the menu. The first time I went to Pietro's, they had fish and risotto special. Every time I've went, they always had the fish and risotto special - and ordered it every time - because it is THAT good! Pietro's has an amazing menu and quite a few menu items I would love to try - but I just can't pass up the risotto - because it is THAT good! Pietro's evolved from a small family favorite restaurant to what you would expect at a fine dining franchised establishment. The mood is always vibrant and positive. And the service is even better. After the visit, we beelined to Sonoma Harvest. Unbeknownst to us, the shop was closing in 10 minutes though. (Yes, they have posted hours outside but I didn't look before I went in). The associate enthusiastically welcomed us in and politely told us we are welcome but closing in 10 minutes. So I told here it was our first time and was just going to take a quick look. She and the others was closing but she multi tasked and spoke to us. As I did my self guided world wind tour of the space; she was engaging and spoke about the olive press, operations and offerings. She didn't have to speak to us, but did anyway. Definitely bookmarking to come back in the near future. They offer wine and olive oil & balsamic vinegar tastings. They have over 20 flavors of olive oil. That's a lot! Additionally they have a curated line of artisanal and local sourced tapenades, jams, jellies, honey, and gift items. Up front, I wanted to express why I'm giving this review a 5-star rating. It was entirely because of the Manager Betsy and of course the flavor of these ribs we had. I don't want to put this restaurant down or nit-pick the issues both my sister and I had. I wouldn't think that would be right of me and to the restaurant. Let's just say, we had issues and Betsy, God bless her, she took care of business and made everything right and even went beyond what we expected. Personal service is foremost what's important at any eating establishment, along with the quality of the food. The ribs and pesto pasta was to die for, and that's why I keep coming back. The three serves that were there attending to us, need better training. The food is always great and I will go back.

We ordered the chicken and rib combo, the ribs were just ok but the chicken was dry. For the price overall, we expected much more. I can't say that it left a good lasting impression on us. Our waitress gave us a couple of extra ribs in our to go containers. That was very kind of her. Unfortunately, we won't be dining here again.

I initially booked an olive oil tasting but later discovered that it was more of an educational thing where you have to sit in a room. With a baby and a dog , I was hoping we can just enjoy that outdoors but they weren't able to accommodate. I hope sometime in the future they can change that . Instead of the olive oil tasting , I decided to have lunch outdoors. It was such a beautiful day and a tad windy . We started with some cocktails. Pomegranate Margarita : 5/5 it was the perfect blend of tangy , slightly sweet and the salt rim balanced all the flavors nicely. Also , it was pretty strong . Charcuterie $45 : Wow the presentation for this charcuterie was beautiful . Everything on the board was yummy and was a nice snack for grazing and enjoying it with the cocktail . I really liked the sweet walnuts , olives , wagyu sausage , pickled carrots , cauliflower , & the fig jam . 5/5 French onion soup $20 : I never really think to get a french onion soup but I was convinced that this was the best thing ever .. and guess what ?! It was !! This was probably the best french onion soup i've ever had . It was super rich , savory , and slightly sweet from the carmelized onions . It also had some delicious melted gruyère cheese that was oozing with the soup . The puff pastry on top was soo good . It was nice and comforting . 5/5 Prosciutto and Brie $30 : Dare I say this was probably one of the tastiest sandwiches ever ?! I can't believe prosciutto and brie can taste this good . The combination of garlic aioli , pickled shallots , red onions with farm greens mixed in the sandwich really brought out all the flavors. The only downside is for the portion idk if it justifies the price 4.5 /5 Ordered a special Pre fixe menu that came with farm salad with Quinoa + Olive oil icecream puff pastry dessert $30 + 10 salmon add on to salad . Salmon quinoa salad : This dish was super simple but the fish was cooked to perfection . It was super moist and the quinoa was fluffy and the salad was nicely dressed . 5/5 We had a great time and the food was fantastic. I'm really happy this place was dog friendly and family friendly. It's so hard finding places that accommodate both . Service was great . Luis did a good job on making sure we were taken care of . He was always checking in on us during our meal and was even whispering when the baby was napping . A+ service . Overall this place is a hidden gem . It's a tad pricey for lunch but the quality and service makes it worth it . We will definitely be back again to try the other delicious foods !
