I usually do not like the dentist but Dr. Ho is amazing, patient and kind. I tried to go to a different dentist because my insurance didn't cover going to her and was so disappointed I got out the chair 30 minutes into my appointment as they were trying to upsell me and price gouge for services I did not need. If you're looking for an amazing dentist, I can't recommend Dr. Claire Ho and her team enough. They are absolutely one of the best I've ever gone to. I've never felt more comfortable going to the dentist than coming here. I recently had my old filling replaced by a previous dentist, and Dr. Ho made sure I had the most state-of-the-art replacements. In the past, with my previous dentist, local anesthetics were quite painful and difficult to bear. However, Dr. Ho was perfect on every level from start to finish. I felt no pain or even a needle during the injections and she made sure that I was ok through the entire procedure. She explained each step to me in detail and let me observe everything to was going on. I can't thank her and her staff enough for all the amazing work and care that they have provided to me and my wife. If you need a dentist, I recommend Dr. Claire Ho! I am embarrass to say I haven't been to a dentist for a couple of years and was scared and dreading the visit. Dr. Ho didn't criticize despite the fact that my teeth were in bad shape... Dr. Ho was exactly what the other reviewers mentioned, she's professional, personable and honest. I was nervous but she put me at ease by explaining step by step about what she was going to do next and made sure I wasn't in any pain before she started the procedure. She's a perfectionist and does a great job with finesse. What I most appreciate about Dr. Ho is that she does mostly everything herself. My past dentist would assign me to different staff for different procedures and though I understand the importance of the business aspects, they lacked empathy... Dr. Ho genuinely cares about each of her patients. The office is clean and good energy flows throughout. Her staff Theresa is also so wonderful and friendly. I never felt so comfortable going to see a dentist until I met Dr. Ho and her team. Wow! everyone is absolutely pleasant! I felt instantly comfortable in their presence. I was greeted by Dr. Ho herself upon arrival, she's so down to earth and super welcoming. Her assistant Cathy and Theresa are also a gem, I love them! Let me tell you, my teeth are BAD, but everyone here was so professional and I didn't feel ashamed about it at all! (I was shamed at the other dental office, it was traumatic!) About five years ago, I left Culver City Family Dentistry when Dr. Tahari moved to an administrative/managerial type role. Simply put, I didn't like the new dentist. But I still needed my regular cleanings. I have since been going back to Dr. Ho's office and it has been excellent. In the past five years, along with cleanings she has also replaced some bonding, and replaced a couple fillings. Still always friendly, personable, and skilled since the first time I went. Hands down the best dentist I've ever met. I moved to Los Angeles last year and had a horrible experience with the first dentist I went to: a five month saga that involved 3 fillings, 2 crowns, and finally a root canal all on the same tooth! Needless to say I never wanted to go to any dentist again. Last month I moved to Marina del Rey and since it was time for a checkup decided to give Dr. Ho a try. As the other reviews point out Dr. Ho is a class act. She takes the time to explain everything she does and even goes over your insurance plan with you pointing out what it does and doesn't cover. She also does all the work herself which is very reassuring. I am happy to say I don't dread going to the dentist anymore! read more

Seriously, I have NEVER enjoyed myself at the dentist until now. I can't believe how friendly Dr. Ho and the entire staff of the office were. I hadn't been to the dentist in 3 years (I know..I know) and Dr. Ho didn't make me feel like a criminal and was very gentle in how she gave me pointers on how to avoid similar issues in the future. I felt so welcomed at the office and surprised how personable Dr. Ho and her staff were. Everyone was extremely knowledgeable and explained my insurance coverage details and the next steps for my teeth. I have never experienced such a welcoming, yet professional dentist office. I will definitely be back (I hope with improved teeth and gums) and I will make sure my fiance makes an appointment. I definitely recommend giving this office a chance. Dr. Ho and her staff are amazing! My fiance' has been going to see her for some time, but I went today for a cleaning before our wedding this upcoming weekend. Her staff and she got me in with little problem, got me set up, and took care of me! The thing I loved the most about the experience is that her office is like a small town feel in a major city. They treated me like a person and a client versus just another patient in from off the street. Dr. Ho did the cleaning and chatted with me the whole time. She is very personable and easy going. I am not a big fan of going to the dentist, but her staff and she did not shame for cleaning habits or try to sell anything. First off, like most of the other Yelpers have pointed out, Dr. Ho is indeed a very nice, and friendly person to be around, and is a good dentist. She walks you through every procedure, as does her staff if they are working with you, and its a very relaxing experience... Okay, now why I do NOT like this dentist. They are not upfront with you about what they bill you for. I have dental insurance. I found this place on Yelp, and called for an appt for cleaning & x-rays. I went in, Dr. Ho scraped at my mouth for what felt like 2 hrs and then, Dr. Ho tells me I need to come back for a cleaning. What??? What the hell just happened here?? She told me she just did a debribment (sp?? some procedure where they deeply remove buildup), and now I had to come back for a cleaning. I was obviously confused, as I booked for a cleaning, but she assured me my teeth needed it, so yes, to just come back for the cleaning now. I did, and the cleaning went fine. (Side note: Another complaint about this place, is you have to pay upfront for your services, then the dentist will submit a claim to your insurance, who sends you a check for reimbursement, usually taking a few weeks. I much prefer the dental offices that just bill insurance directly. Yeah - so that is not ideal here. You pay upfront for your services...and they also do NOT TAKE American Express. Booo) My complete ANGER at this place, however, came when I got my notice from my insurance that I would not be reimbursed for my teeth cleaning ($100 at least, to my memory...), because Dr. Ho already billed me for the debribement, and insurance will only cover one or the other. Shouldn't they (Dr. Ho) have told me this, before they do procedures on me that I didn't ask for?! I called the girl at the front desk and pleaded with her. I knew I already needed some crowns/root canals, where I would be responsible for 40% of the costs, and now I have to pay the full cost of the teeth cleaning, when that wasn't what I signed up for. I pleaded for them to refund me the teeth cleaning, as it wasn't fair to be charged, as I never asked for the debribement. When I was coldly turned down, I then asked if we could work out a deal...could I cover half and they cover half. NO. I asked for my x-rays (and was told to bring them back. Pftt), and went to another dentist. read more

So I think I went to see Claire Ho about 4 times in less than 2 months. Was it because I needed a lot of work on my teeth or because I want to be her friend and the only way was to keep making appointments...? But really, Dr. Ho is super nice and totally trustworthy. I've had some really bad experiences with dentists not being trusthworthy and so lately I've had a string of 3-4 dentists. But look no further, I've found Claire Ho. She's not trying to sell you on anything, just gives you an honest opinion on your teeth. I was confused about some of the charges regarding my insurance and she worked with me to figure out exactly where it was coming from and I learned a thing or two about my dental coverage. Thanks! Her staff is really awesome too. Kathy is so nice and friendly, you'll think you're just chatting it up with a friend. Her office isn't open on Fridays but she takes appointments until 7 on Tuesdays, which is convenient for me. Be sure to park in the Ralphs lot across the street and walk over. read more

What? A dentist that actually acts like a real person? AMAZING! After a recent run of crappy doctors, I am thrilled with Dr. Ho. She is fun to be around and talks to you like an equal, not a dumb patient. She genuinely cares about making sure you understand what's going on and makes you feel totally comfortable asking any question. Ms. Claire Ho is my dentist for life. I'm pretty sure that she's the most thorough, friendliest dentist ever to exist, not to mention her awesome hygienist, who actually invited me over for Thanksgiving Dinner with her family to "see how it's done". I was blown away. It's now been 2 years since I've been to visit Dr. Ho, but not for not wanting to! Waiting for my insurance problems to finally go away is torture, because I'd very much like to get an appointment, but I'm not letting anyone but Claire touch me! I've sent three or four other people there and they rave about her as much as I do. Claire Ho is awesome. I've always hated going to the dentist my entire life, and it had been about 2 years since I had been, so I knew I really needed to go get my teeth checked out. She's extremely nice and really takes her time with you. She was really down to earth and friendly, and made me feel comfortable in her office, even though I really don't like being at the dentist's office. I always ask a ton of questions whenever I go to the doctor (and just every day in general), so I was doing the same w/ Dr. Ho. Every little thing she did with my teeth, I would ask her about it, and she never got annoyed or tired of answering my questions. Some people say I'm annoying for asking so many questions all the time x-(, but Dr. Ho had no problem with it at all! She took her time to answer all my questions in detail and was very patient w/ me. When working on my teeth, she definitely took her time and did not rush anything at all. She's really thorough, and explained everything well so I was never nervous. Besides being a wonderful doctor; just like everyone else here has mentioned, she's a great person. She's just really nice, honest, and funny. I wish we were friends! She's really chatty, which is a good thing, but she also knows when not to try and get you to talk (like when you have your mouth stuffed w/ dental stuff). My dad was a dentist and made me feel very comfortable all my life until he retired a few years back and I've had to find alternatives. I liked my NYC dentist quite a bit, and when I moved recently to the Marina, and had a crown chip off, I was worried about who to see. Dr. Ho is engaging, kind, and great at dentistry. Her staff is professional and courteous. I was so impressed at every level. Additionally, I have PPO insurance but usually I still owe an extra fee when I go to the dentist, but Dr. Ho only charged the contracted amounts so my appointment was essentially free (if you don't count my high insurance premiums!). We met Dr. Claire Ho ten years ago . We have stayed patients of Dr. Ho even though we now live 100 miles West of her office. The quality of professional care is far above other Dental offices we have visited. There has never been any unnecessary services performed and Dr. Ho takes the time to explain the patients treatment plan with alternatives. *I've never submitted a review for anything in my life. But, I think Dr. Ho deserves to be recognized.* It is always a treat to see Dr. Ho. She is by far the most conscientious, attentive, detail oriented, and skilled dentist I've ever been treated by. I'm super picky about my teeth, and she is always at the ready to make the minor adjustments that I request. I sometimes wonder if I'm costing her money because she's dedicated to getting the perfect result versus watching the clock. I've been seeing her for 3 years, and I can't imagine going to anyone else. Her depth of knowledge and her "wears her heart on her sleeve" level of caring transcends what I would expect from any doctor. Who says you can't have a good time at a dental appointment? I've only had one other dentist growing up. After moving to LA I finally scheduled a dental appointment with Dr. Ho and man did she make my last dentist look like amateur hour. She took her time with everything--cleaning very thoroughly, teaching me about what exactly she's doing, and really getting to know me as a person and not just as a patient. During the education process, I also learned that my previous dentist was lying and cheating me of money by performing basic cleaning services and calling them something else. It is so refreshing to have a dentist who is personable, transparent, honest, and just genuinely kind and looking out for you. Let's not forget her assistants Teresa and Cathy. My first interaction with the office was when I called in to find out whether or not if my insurance is covered at the location. Teresa was super proactive and kind and called in to my insurance to double check for me and called me back within the hour to explain my overall coverage and book an appointment. Cathy, on the other hand, took my X-Rays. She was a perfectionist when it comes to her work and did a wonderful job while keeping everything lighthearted with a friendly and laugh out loud conversation. From picking up the phone and calling to leaving my appointment, my experience was 10/10 every step of the way. I can't actually believe I'd ever say I look forward to going back in 6 months for my next cleaning! read more

I have been to Dr. Ho several times, and she and her staff are great. My first visit to a dentist in a couple of decades obviously required a couple of follow ups, but Dr. Ho never lectured or nagged, just prodded. I have had a couple of cavities filled, and after one filling I felt a bit of pain. I called the office and Dr. Ho volunteered to stay late or even come in on her day off to take a look at it, no questions or payment reuired. (Thankfully the pain subsided and wasn't an issue after that). I highly recommend Dr. Ho! read more

I just got back from my 2nd teeth cleaning and just like the first visit it went great. I have been to 5 different dentists over last 4 years in Los Angeles, and I feel she is one of the best if not best dentists I had working on my teeth. I find it interesting that many people give her poor rating because their insurance did not cover work that was done on particular person's teeth, or because they were charged a cancellation fee (keep in mind that in this office only Dr. Clair L. Ho does work on your teeth and nobody else) so if you cancel she needs enough time to fill that time slot, makes perfect sense, other Dentists have assistants doing cleaning or interns and I have experienced that (not worth it). All and all, I would recommend this dentist to everyone. read more

I chose Dr. Ho because she was located near my old residence and you Yelpers gave her such great reviews. Unfortunately, over the past year she has proven herself to be a decent dentist but a terrible person with no morals. She is FULLY aware that her office is considered by my dental insurer as "out of my network" and that her assistant flat out lied to me when I first called to see if my specific insurance plan would be accepted at her office. They told me I would be "fully covered" if I chose her as my new dentist. Too bad "fully covered" meant "partially covered". They went on to bill me for over $125 worth of charges that would have been FREE to me at a dentist who was actually considered "in network". Delta has her assistant in a taped phone conversation being told that I would only be partially covered if I went to their office because they are not signatory to my specific plan. I will now probably have to sue this woman to get my money back. I will never return here and you should save yourself the time and go to a dentist who actually cares about their patients well being. read more

I must admit that the first glance of entering the office does not impress me at all. Everything is just what you expect to see in a dental office. It is just another office behind a small door located at a giant business building. (Yeah... it remind me a building in a movie, The Matrix (1999) ) However, the YELP has proved again its reviews are all true. I went here yesterday and had Dr. Ho taking care my teeth cleaning. I am very satisfied with her skill and the atmosphere in this office. Not to mention her assistant, Ms. Cathy, she is amazing. I never saw a people so friendly in my life. Anyway, I think "teeth cleaning" is just a common procedure that every dentist should be familiar with in his/her training. As a patient, my teeth has been cleaned at least twenty times and I know what's going to happen in teeth cleaning. While someone try to clean your gum through scratching, in no way do you feel "comfortable". Anyway, the very difference between her and other dentists is "reliability". It's hard to describe but you can feel that she does explain every steps that are going to happen and let you see your teeth before and after the cleaning. When you ask a question, she is indeed, careful listening. And more important, you don't feel that your dentist rushes your cleaning for accommodating more patients . Anyway, I'm scared to see a dentist not because of pain but because of not knowing what he/she did to me :) And she make me feel reliable on her treatment. "Reliability" is the most important thing I choose a dentist. However, there's something you better know in advance. Here are some things you should know: - If you cannot find their office, look for "CHASE" bank. They are located in the same building. - They don't validate parking, and parking fee is very very high. ($3 ? for 15 minutes, $16 maximum). If you are customer of CHASE, you may want to try to visit CHASE after the dental appointment and I believe CHASE validate your parking. (I am NOT CHASE customer, unfortunately) I will try to find a street parking next time. - They charge every thing at the day you visit, no matter which insurance company you belongs to. Yes, they do accept insurance and they will help you to file a claim to the insurance company. However, they help you to get "reimbursement" but not charge insurance directly. In other words, be sure you bring a credit card with enough credit limit. - A cleaning and an examination and X-rays might take first visitor 2 hours (or more) including writing some documents and questionaries. - They will take a picture at your visit and put it on your file, so dress decently :) read more

I remember looking for a dentist a few years back. Meg B.'s Yelp review was on point about finding a good mechanic in Ed Little in Culver City, and she had left another 5 star for Dr. Ho. As it turns out, shes was 2 for 2, in my book. Just a few points. For most of my life, cleanings usually involved hitting the sensitive parts of my teeth with the scraper. I don't think she's done that once. Dr. Ho is very meticulous and conscious about getting the job done right, without pain. Years ago I had recessed gums that would bleed. She recommended a deep cleaning with Dr. Horowitz. That changed my life, as after the process, he basically taught me how to brush my teeth correctly (focusing on the gums). My gums have been healthy since. And to re-iterate, the entire staff will make you feel like family. She moved her offices from Marina Del Rey about an year ago to Westchester, but I'll drive wherever she goes, because like a good trust-worthy mechanic, great dentists are hard to find. read more

My last dentist made me feel like she needs help paying off all her student loans. She lured me in with the promise of a whitening treatment and then refused to do it until "all this other work" was done. I felt conned and ended up asking her to mail my X-rays to Claire Ho. Dr. Ho was recommended to me by my work colleagues because we are in the same building, how convenient is that?! I first went to Dr. Ho about 5 years ago on the advice of my friend's girlfriend (now wife). I've since moved significantly further away, but make the trek to Marina del Rey twice a year for my cleanings. I really like the fact that Dr. Ho herself generally does my cleanings. I feel like having an actual dentist (who used to work as a hygienist) is a great combination. My old dentist would just come in after the cleaning and look at my teeth for a few minutes, but I really appreciate how Dr. Ho basically looks gets to look at my teeth for the entire time of the cleaning. read more

I saw Dr. Ho back in July and was delighted with her, her office (great views!) and staff - all very personable and professional. It was such a refreshing change from the rude, conveyor belt style, multiple-doctor office system that seems prevalent these days (e.g. Manhattan Village Dental Group). She also didn't try to push elective work or use other common tactics used by less scrupulous dentists to convince me that I would need unnecessary, lucrative procedures (something that happened to me at another LA-area dentist group and was later cited as unnecessary work) in order to milk my insurance. On insurance, I didn't have network coverage during my first visit but will for the next visit. Dr. Ho's assistant was up front about my liability and didn't try to obfuscate anything like one Yelper said she did. It is actually impossible for me to imagine them even doing something like that. It is very hard to find a good, honest, friendly dentist these days, and Dr. Ho has all those qualities. I recommend her whole-heartedly! read more
