Denise has been doing my hair for two months now her dread work is clean and fast. Affordable as well for the work she does.

I dont know about their braids but i do know about their ponytails. That lasted only 2 days my hair came a loose a lot in the back i asked her to redo it or gel it back up she said its to short in the back than she said its to thick. I can do something else next week. You can't do what you want to my she told me i can give you braids i dont wear braids if you can't fo a ponytail uou should have told me before you took my and i gave her a tip and shr gonna charge me again no way like i said font know about braids but cant do hair i would krep going to Oakland to get mines fone it wad just 1 of dem days read more

Never coming here again i usually come here last min when my lady is away . They usually will fit u in 15 mins notice . Just can't believe they let me leave like this paying full price ! She also used black thread with bleach blonde hair smh ! Got my hair did by Yolanda! First time ever getting braided & I'm really diggin it. I've known of this shop since I was little kid when they were on White Road. The shop being around for that long is a testament to their success. I was recommended here by a friend and some family members and Braid It Up did not disappoint. Yolanda was a pleasure to work with. Very friendly and welcoming, has a ton of experience, works fast & efficiently, and she knows how to do braids without making it hurt!! I was misquoted in the price I have majority of my head shaved and was charged $165. As I was sitting there another lady in the shop had the nerve to grab hair from my pile that I brought without asking it was very rude I was appalled. Took my 9 year old in for his first braids and he's thrilled with the results--and so am I. He squirmed and shed a few tears but Miss Robin knew just how to handle it. I asked for one thing and was given the opposite. The braid are cute so I can't complain too much. The most disappointing thing is that over the phone I was quoted one price, once I arrived I was quoted a price that was double the original. Since I was in a hurry and booked a last minute appointment I approved. To my surprise when I was paying, the price had gone up yet again by another $10 from the second quote!!! If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Robin is the owner and is very unprofessional. My first time going there, I had to wait even though I had an appointment. My hair was just okay. When people ask me who did my hair, they thought I had my hair done for two weeks even though I just left the salon a couple of hours earlier that day. My next appointment: They told me my hair would last for two months considering I paid $200.00 for my hair to be done, it lasted less than two weeks. My last and final visit: I waited over three hours with an appointment. Robin was done with someone else hair and you would have thought she would have took me right away since I was patiently waiting but she didn't. I took off work that morning and ended up leaving the shop without my hair being done. Robin had my number and could have call me and told me to come in another day or contacted me after me leaving the shop disappointed but she didn't. This place is full of gossip, rudeness, and very just unprofessional. This place is extremely overprice considering if you want your hair done, you can go to a ton of shops in the area for half the price. If you are in business, you must learn how to conduct yourself in a professional way. You must set your appointments on time, you must not overcharge customers; if you are going to be late, learn how to contact your customers and tell them that you are running late. Everyone does not want to listen to your ghetto music. I do not wish this business success at all. I was treated in a very disrespectful way and will Never ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, return! I have told everyone I know to avoid this place at all cost. Also there is no parking, you will have to park on the street where the meters are and hope your car does not get towed. I don't know who that woman underneath is, but she's apparently delusional and a very lonely misguided soul. Robin is a professional woman that is a stellar hair stylist! I've been coming to Robin since I was 17yrs. old, I'm now 39. I've hopped on buses across town to get my hair done by her. Both of my children have came to her & my mother. I have long, long, history w/Braid it Up. That's exactly why I'm a loyal & faithful customer to this day. She always accommodates my hectic work schedule by coming in a bit earlier. She whips my hair right into shape when most needed! And I always leave with a smile for the hairdo & her sense of humor. She's also reasonable on her prices & an absolute joy to talk to. my experience at braid it up , I came to the shop already frustrated cause the day prior I had just got my hair done it was a little messed up so I wanted it redone cause I was do to see a comedy show that night.I originally was to see Corvette but instead I was greeted by some one that appeared to be a high schooler who couldn't seem to get it right with 2 French braids so I paid a little extra and ask the young lady to give me a couple braids which I thought would be easier but that didn't work either infact my hair was not what i expected .when I left braid it up Friday June 12th 2015 I was walking down the street literally in tears with less than 2hours to my show starts. while sitting there I noticed that 2 of the ladies doing hair was doing a excellent jobs. Just like everyone else, this salon is garbage. They have very bad customer service. I work in IT and the ppl who wrote positive feedback are ppl who work in the salon because the comments are from the same IP address. (Notice how the negative comments explain to you their experience which is real and the positive comments say the same thing such as my hair is great) People have to be careful about reading comments because most companies pay to get positive comments to receive more business. I went here one time two years ago and that was my last time. The braids I receive were too tight and my hair was still sticking up after it was freshly done. I asked them could they re-fix the situation and they didn't. As a first time customer, they could have provided better customer service considering on the phone the girl who promise to do my hair that day did not show up and someone else did it who could not do hair at all. I was also told a different price on the phone and in person, the price was higher. Also I arrive 15 minutes early, and they did my hair 45 minutes late. They did not say they was sorry for being late; despite all this they were paid even though they were late and I was not satisfied at all. After a few days later, the braids started coming out on their own. I have never return and told 5 of my girlfriends to stay away from this salon and to tell their friends the same thing. This salon is just not professional at all. read more
