They've had my car for four days now after taking it in to them for a spongy brake pedal. What started as a $500.00 quote has tripled. After they replaced the master cylinder i drove to the store from their location, the car shuddered and died after engine light came on. I had the car towed AT MY EXPENSE after they said to either have it towed or drive it back with no other offer of help. After half a day, I was told I needed a sensor at over $200.00. In their way to pick me up with my car, same symptoms. After more time I was told I needed at over $400.00three additional parts that would fix the problem. Each time it would've cost me $400+, $200+, $500+ had I not asked for a reduced labor cost. They basically replaced my entire brake system trying to eliminate the problem. Their lack of professionalism and experience COST ME. Scott was condescending and rude when I called to get an update on a Sunday. He lied and said the car would be done after I explained that I would need to arrange for a rental car since I worked the next day. By the time he called and said the car wouldn't be ready, it was too late to arrange for a rental. My prior interactions with them had been positive, but after this experience, I recommend you go somewhere else at all cost unless time and money are of no consequence. read more

I went in for an emergency brake service for my work vehicle because the brakes stopped working suddenly. Unfortunately, this was the closest place I could get to for the repair. The service was extremely unprofessional, especially given the urgency of the repair needed. To begin with, it was clear to me that they did not know what they were doing. They ordered the part and proceeded to try and install it the wrong way for two hours, after which they claimed it was the wrong part. After that, they ordered a new part (of the same type), which prolonged the service time even further. When the new part arrived, they continued to attempt installing it the wrong way. It was only after that (along with my advice), that they realized that they were installing the correct part the wrong way. They were being rude the entire time, especially after I helped them realize their mistake. At the end of the service, they neglected to test my vehicle to ensure everything was installed properly. On my way to my client, my rear brakes heated up and started smoking. I had no other choice but to stop and get my vehicle reserviced at another shop. It was revealed to me at the different shop that my brakes weren't completely calibrated. All of this considered, they also charged me an unbelievably high rate. Additionally, the manager added an extra charge of $100 on my bill for a service I didn't even receive. After refusing to pay for the extra charge, they made me wait even longer, as if to punish me, and proceeded to ignore me. Worst experience in my life... I recommend to avoid this place at all costs. After taking my car back he brought me to do a walk around of the car and talked about everything that was checked during the consultation, made some recommendations and was able to show and explain everything I inquired about. BEWARE!! I had my daughter bring the Mazda 6 by Brake Check and they replaced the pads and rotors front and rear. The handed her the keys and she was on her way. Just before getting on the freeway one of the wheels was making noise and grinding. She returned immediately. When she got back to the shop the wheel was wedged in the wheel well. The tech lifted the car and the wheel fell off. The personnel either did not replace the lugs or never tightened them because there were none left on that wheel. This is serious!! If my daughter would have entered the freeway there would have been a terrible accident. After she returned home there continues to be noises from under the car and a significant oil leak. Did I forgot to mention they changed the oil and cross threaded the bolt. We have been in contact and their behavior is if they could care less and do not appear interested in getting this mess handled. My daughter is in a rental this week until the car is gone through and repaired. This is incompetence at its worst and extremely dangerous. Update 5/25/18 This place is quite dirty(globs of hair everywhere..why??) and the waiting area smells. Service was not the friendliest this time around. I called earlier in the week and scheduled an appointment to get alignment and tire rotation. Got to the shop 15 mins early and was told they could not rotate my tires. They said person who took the appointment didn't specify it and they couldn't accommodate. I have lifetime alignment, so I will be back. Hopefully they'll get it together a little more the next time. I went to get my car serviced at Momentum and they quoted me $250($300, but he said he had a coupon) for an alignment. I checked online and brake check has a lifetime alignment for $140. I had previously done something similar with my previous car. I chose this location based on Yelp reviews. Cedric was able to schedule me that day and I was out within 40 mins. Don't expect much from the waiting room. The chairs were kinda run down and the tv reception kept going out. I just popped in my headphones and tried to touch as little of the chair as possible. I don't expect much in ambiance from these types of establishments. This was my first time using brake check and it was only for an alignment. I will update when I hit another 6,000 miles. read more

Update: the company quickly made contact with me (within about an hour or two) and offered me a refund in order to remove a post from social media (Facebook), emphasizing that they are a family owned and operated business and that this type of behavior by employees is not tolerated. They told me that a manager was terminated because of the incident and that this experience does not represent the type of company Brake Check aspires to be. I greatly appreciate the speed with which they handled the issue and have deleted the social media post. I scheduled an appointment for today, 10/14/19, at 11:30 am. I left and returned at 3:30. My car was still being worked on at the time but one of the employees said they were finishing up and took me into the office to check out. When I had arrived that morning, there was another man who did not appear to be an employee (I assumed he was another customer at the time) in the waiting room who was talking to all the female customers who walked in and clearly making them uncomfortable. When I walked in to check out that afternoon, he was still there (4 hours later) and was clearly friends with all the other employees. As I was standing in the shop, he began talking to the employees about his cocaine use (even showing everyone a picture of him with white powder on his nose), bragging about performing oral sex on women he pulled up on social media (and showed the picture around), and then addressed me specifically asking if I knew what embalming fluid was. He then proceeded to tell me about how he had gotten high off of it recently, experienced hallucinations, and was unable to move, saying "I was praying 'God please get me off this now and I will never touch it again. Then I did it again the next day.'" Throughout this time, the other employees were laughing, making comments and jokes at his numerous inappropriate references, and egging him on. I will never return to this Brake Check because of this experience and deeply regret having purchased a lifetime alignment from a company that allows this kind of behavior from its employees, especially in front of customers. This is the absolutely worst place to receive new brakes and pads. My husband took my vehicle here on a Friday and by Wednesday my brakes locked up on the feeder of 610 and Bellaire. I was 9 months pregnant headed to my prenatal appointment. I was afraid, my car wouldn't move. I had stopped at this location because my car was not steering corrrectly. In spite of it being nearly an hour after closing, Mike took the time to answer all of my questions and explain each necessary repair, listening patiently and taking the time to make sure that I fully understood each problem. As someone who has been to more than a few mechanic shops, I can honestly say there were multiple opportunities to be overcharged, but here, Mike helped me to stay focused on the most essential repairs and told me which could be put off. However, that car is on the alignment machine for two hours since I got there. When it was turn for my car to be aligned, the place was almost closed. They still took another customer however while my car was hanging on the lift. When my car was done, it was a total of 3 hours. The people are good, honest and professional. I have always come here for my brake service for past 5 years. I live 1 hour drive from this place but the drive is worthwhile. Took my 2008 Lexus IS350 for service due to squeaking noise. Instead of slapping me with new brake pads Jerry Eskridge (Store Manager) took the time to examine and told me the pads are good. I brought my car in to have the brake pads, which were wearing thin, replaced. At suggestion of the mechanic on duty, I also opted to have my rotors resurfaced. Upon receiving my car back, it began making a terrible sound when coming to a stop, not present before I brought it in for service. I then paid an additional sum to get the calipers serviced, which did not address the issue. Later, I took my car into the dealership who told me that the rotors were damaged beyond repair and needed to be replaced. After thoroughly inspecting my vehicle, the manager here showed me how I only needed 1 new rotor with my brake pad replacement. The other ones were still able to be machined down.
