Less than good. Bad management-bad service. If you have grey hair find somewhere else to take your vehicle. They take it on themselves to do inspections that you do not ask them to do and then they give you the bad news. The oil change on my vehicle $34 and some change was now going to cost around $268 - apparently,I now needed new rear brake pads. I told the assistant manager no that I didn't want them to do the work, and his reply was "how do you think I make money around here, by doing oil changes?" Enough said!!! read more

Had a morning emergency as I was leaving to work where my brakes and car were making a loud obnoxious noise and didn't feel safe to drive...called Brake Masters and they told me to bring it on in. They open at 7:30 am, which is nice it's earlier than all the other shops on the street that don't open until 8 or 9... Being a young female on my own, I always get skeptical of auto places. However, they provided excellent service, took in my car no problem and had it fixed within a couple of hours. Brakes now work great and they only charged $139 for everything! I asked some of my mechanic friends and they agreed this was a fair price. Highly recommend!! read more

Words can not explain how angry I am with this place and the company as a whole. This review is long over due. About two years ago, I took my car in for a brake service. I was told I need to fix the front brakes, so I did as told. I had to leave my car overnight and almost all of the next day because they didn't have my parts. I was hesitant but I did the service anyway. A couple months into getting the car back, the brakes starts squeaking really bad like I need new pads again. I took it back and they said the pads were fine. They weren't able to duplicate the sound and they weren't able to fix it. They also somehow have it on their computer that I fixed my back breaks. I said no. They had to verify parts just to confirm. I left disappointed, and I heard the noise while leaving the shop! Before leaving though, I had to get assurance from the manager that if I had to come back that it wouldn't be an issue about the typo. He gave an half ass answer and said, "it'll be fine." and that..."well they can't change the system anymore" and gave me his card. I drove the car a few more months and the sound became worse. I couldn't' bare it anymore, so before my one year warranty was up, I brought the car back. This time, I spoke with, I believe was the assistant manager. I can't remember the name anymore but he was an older man, tall, looked like Ron Perlman. I told him of my issue and he began interrogating me like cop. He asked how I drive and how many miles I put it on it. He also questioned the paperwork not lining up with the brakes, which I knew would be an issue (He later verified okay). I told him of the issues and what I've been going through with the brakes and he said they'll get it checked out. I told also told him that I wanted to fix my brakes before my warranty was out. He said of course that it would be. Before I left, he asked me where I drove to over the weekend. He said that my car was dirty and asked if went to the snow. I said yes and the blame game began! He accused me of being a bad driver and that taking it to the snow caused the problem. I told him the issue stems back over almost a year and to look at the paper trail. He also said, some people just brake harder than others and that perhaps I may have caused it. I told him that it was impossible and to look at all the paperwork since taking the car to them over the year and for my other cars over a 10 years period and how often I brought my 3 cars to them to fix. He said he wasn't accusing me but at that point, I was done. I left there feeling disgusted and told him that I'd take it somewhere else. I can't believe as management, assistant or otherwise, would blatantly accuse the driver of causing an issue when only two months into the new brakes (which I paid for premium mercedes pads and rotors for) and the problem started. I brought my car back multiple times and each time they denied me new pads cause they "couldn't duplicate the noise." The workers were unprofessional each time and didn't care that I was a long time customer. I ended up taking my car to the Brake Masters that I also go to to fix in Elk Grove. THAT WAS A BAD EXPERIENCE AS WELL. I had to pay for new brakes although it was only a year old because of no more warranty. And of course, after the warranty expired, they were able to duplicate the noise! HOW CONVENIENT. You can read my review for the Elk Grove location about my experience there. Oh and guess what, my issue is still an issue almost 2 years later! Never again. This place needs to be shut down! This place is amazing. I went to get my car serviced at Folsom Lake Toyota, and they informed me that my rear brakes needed to be replaced asap. The Toyota dealership quoted me just under 300 bucks, not something I can afford...So I called Brake Masters! Best decision ever. They got my rear brakes replaced for $116, and were able to do it the same day. They were really helpful, communicative, and did good work. The best part was the price. SO, I end up back here sooner than planned via tow truck, from work in Auburn @ 11:30 pm one night because the driver side, front bearing went out & I wasn't sure if it was a good idea to drive my truck home. Don & mechanic(s) took excellent care of me so I could drive my truck to work the next day. They picked me up from home with my fixed truck & took me back to the shop so I didn't have to pay for lyft, which had cost me over $10 the night b4. Don was also able to cut some labor fees (much appreciated) since he was replacing not only the bearing, but the ABS sensor AND the front brakes! (I took advantage & killed 3 birds w/one stone!) There are many brake service providers around and most will routinely quote replacing parts (rotors, calipers, etc) when it's not necessary. How do you know when it's time to replace these "extras"? Either ask "Is this really necessary" or take your car to a service bay that doesn't try to sell you unnecessary parts and labor. Regular routine brake service should not cost $700 (unless it's BMW or Mercedes). Calipers do not need to be replaced every brake service .. unless broken. Welcome to Brake Masters. Not all locations are created the same, but should be. It was time for front brakes .. I could hear the beginnings of the metal. The initial inspection noted no issue with the front rotors or calipers. A couple dings in the rotors (probably from lodged road debris) and had them turned. The rear pads still had some material but opted to change them out as well as the rear adjustment assembly that had seized on both sides. The mechanic in charge took me to my vehicle to show me both adjusters. I also opt in for replacement of the miscellaneous hardware (clips and pins) that adds about $15 per wheel. I had a coupon handy for an oil change cheaper than I could do at home (and all my tools are in Texas). And while the wheels are off, how about a rotation. This is a half-ton truck with 150,000+ miles and prior brake work. Let's "brake" it down: *Front: $140 ... new pads, rotors turned, hardware kit *Rear: $150 ... new shoes, rotors turned, hardware kit *Rear: $60 for the replacement adjustment assemblies *Oil Change: $37 Every vehicle make/model is different and may require more or less $$ on parts. Overall, however, that I wasn't upsold on unnecessary parts or service and that each element was explained (and detailed on the final invoice including measurements and tolerances) is key to a service station that can be trusted. This truck is ready for it's road trip and as recommended to me, I also recommend (at least) this location of Brake Masters. It's not the fanciest inside but who cares. read more

Three stars just because they are usually pretty quick with the oil change but no more than that because of the dishonesty! When I bought my used car, I brought it here for a oil change. They usually check everything else for you and recommend a certain part to be changed. Last time I came here they said a certain part needed changing and recommended that I do it but I don't usually do anything else at the car shop without consulting my husband or brother first or I look at the part online and compare prices. But in this case I told them it was not needed and I'll do it later. I told my husband about that part and for him to check it. He looked at it and he unscrewed the part and he told me it looked like they didn't even touch the part and the part had dust on it and there were no finger prints or anything on it. So be careful ladies or gentlemen who don't know much about cars. I recommend getting a second opinion before changing any parts to your car, especially here. They seem to want to just add on things to make more money. I'll just come here for oil change but anything else I'll avoid. read more

This is my go to mechanic. I don't know much about cars but I never feel like they are trying to bamboozle me. I have gone to them for multiple types of services and have referred friends that were also happy with the service. My check engine light was on and while they were checking it out, I was outside on a phone call. I saw every mechanic and even the owner (he had just stopped by in casual clothes) taking a look at my engine. I felt that they were putting in extra care to make sure they got to the root of the problem. So I attempted to drop off some used oil and the guy tells me that they don't accept oil there. I have many clients in other cities that are shops and they all accept used oil. This guy could have taken it as their sign says "oil changes" in big letters outside, and two of my cars are in need of alignment checks, but after having my used oil rejected I then decided against inquiring about alignments for my cars. How much do they spend on marketing and how much would it cost for 4.5 quarts of oil to be recycled? Not much as I see the books of many shops. Saw the brake pad replacement coupon for $99.95 with $35 off. Thinking it is cheaper than other shops so I went to Brake Masters #133 on Greenback Lane. After the brake inspection, the rear brake pads need to be replaced. The store manager Mike said that Honda recommends premium pads which cost $35 more. Mike also stated that the $99.95 pads are very cheap. There is no guaranty the new pads will not squeak and most likely they will squeak. I ended up paying $134.95 instead of $99.95 as stated on the coupon. From the receipt, the new pads are Centric Posi - Quiet Ceramic Pads. These pads can be purchased online between $20 to $35 free shipping. The receipt lists the pads cost $91.95. read more

I went here early this year for my brakes replacement, from then I had a squeaking sound when I brake. I took back to them and it didn't help, last week I found out my cars control arm bushings gone bad which is the cause of the sound. I suspect something happened here when I took my car here for the first time. Will not recommend this place. read more

At least Brian is professional because the work done on my 4Runner wasn't. I had to return a week after all new brakes due to horrible squeaking. Turns out a small piece of hardware had broken, okay so it was replaced after I waited 5 hours. After I left I noticed my parking brake light comes on while I'm driving, and now my brakes squeak again. Don't waste your time making an appointment, there's no such thing there unless you consider an appointment waiting 4-5 hours before your vehicle is brought it only to sit untouched for another 30 minutes. read more

If I could leave less than 1 star, I would. Scheduled the appointment on line. Web site says the store is open until 6:00, the door say 5:00, the manager says 5:30. I arrived for my 4:00 appointment at 3:57. Fill out paperwork, they take the keys, and tell me they will get it right in. Fast forward 1 hour, they are still trying to get it in the bay, but I had a 4:00 o'clock appointment, I protest. That just gets you in the bay, before a walk in. ( Side note, I waited behind a walk in to be checked in) I ask if they have the parts to effect the repair. I don't know, was the response I was given. When making the appointment I advised the year make and model of the vehicle and what needed to be done. I would have thought that they at least would have had the parts in stock. I would assume they would have arranged to have the parts in stock. I would encourage you not to waste your time or money with these guys, I'm not sure if it is a corporate location or a franchise, either way it is an embarrassment. read more

Was originally happy with their brake service but recently I had trouble with my car. Turns out the when I had new brakes installed, they didn't tighten the bolts that hold the brake caliper so one of the bolts came off. This caused the caliper to move around and scratch the inside of my rim. Will be heading down there to speak with someone. read more

I have had 4 sets of brake pads/rotors changed on various vehicles - their prices are always higher than they quote on the phone but are still the lowest price around. With that said, their service is really bad and often takes a couple hours longer than they quote - even WITH an appointment first thing in the morning. I have also come to realize that they use the cheapest parts possible - factory brakes typically last me 40-50k miles and when those same vehicles go to brake masters - they last 12-15k miles. This makes their "lifetime warranty" a bit of a joke, since you have to pay for labor each time the (dirt cheap) parts are replaced. If you insist on using Brake Masters, go to the store on Sunrise Blvd, as they are far more professional - same dirt cheap parts however. read more

I was nervous to have anyone else touch my car, but I live in an apartment now :( Go see Pete there, great guy, NO fliter ability, in fact none of the guys there have any filter ability.....they are real mechanics ....not the pansy parts changers at most shops! Enjoy the FU this and that coming from the shop! thats guys working at ease and doing a better job than most. My oil done and filled to exactlythe full mark and No Mess.....I drive a Mercedes and these guys know it just fine. Going back next week for the tranns service at 50% cost of the dealer!!
