Went in last week to get oil change on a coupon for free oil change given to me by the last manager, Pete. Showed the coupon to the manager and made appointment to come back on Tuesday of the following week. I drove from Cameron Park area this morning and they refused to accept the coupon. the manager called the district manager and he also refused. They tried to sell me a higher priced oil change and would give me some money off. I had rear brakes done when I got the coupon and was hearing some squeaking from brakes. They did listen but said it was the front brakes. That was no surprise. The store manager is not the friendliest person in the world. Each time I come here, the service gets better and better. The new management is amazing and so helpful! I cannot speak highly enough of these guys. On top of being super friendly and accommodating, they found a problem with my truck that no one else bothered to look into and weren't price gouging. Their prices meet fair market cost, or even lower. Usually only go here for oil changes and minor things because they are quick and honest and I haven't needed any major work done yet, but I'll keep coming back. I needed a brake inspection on one of my vehicles and they were completely honest about them NOT needing repair. They explained what was going on thoroughly and honestly and I completely trust them with my vehicles because of it. They could have told me they needed replacing and I would have done it because there was a faint squeak because the vehicle had sat for some time. I am always really pleased that they fit me into their schedule and get the work done quickly and are friendly. They have never overcharged and are always so pleasant. Great service. I've taken my car to pep boys down the street 3 times for them to figure out why my breaks were making a strange noise. After 5 minutes of them looking at my car they find out that my pads are cracked and there is a bolt on my strut that is missing a nut on the end. The manager offered me something to drink and sent his guy to find another nut and bolt at Lowe's. They care about customers here. They find the issue and fix it. Great pricing also. While waiting Brian the manager was very helpful when I inquired about a challenge I was having with my teen safety settings. He went out of his way to help me figure out what I needed to do to and my husband and I were thrilled to drive without annoying dings from the dashboard! .....as well as have those on when our teen is driving! I have been coming to this Brake Masters now for about 3 years. I drive an F350 diesel truck and pull a trailer often and go through breaks more than once a year. Michael and his staff are great. Their prices are reasonable and i dont feel like i am being upsold on things I dont need. I like the fact that I can also get my oil changed at the same time as getting brake work done. Orangevale must be the areas mecca for auto repair. There are so many repair shops and I would bet some of the finest auto mechanics in Northern California have made there way here. Having lived in the area for almost 25 years I have met more than a few and rarely had a bad experience. I used to do my own basic repairs but these days I just can't slide under the car to drain oil or slip my hands down through tight spaces to remove a water pump or an alternator. These days I need someone I can trust to work on my cars brakes. For the last 7 or 8 years, I have relied on Brakemasters in Orangevale to do the safety and necessary routine repairs on my vehicles. Although I honestly cannot say that every experience with them has been perfect, I can say that every experience has been professional, reasonable, and reliable. Scheduled for a power steering fluid flush and waited 45 minutes. Brake Masters forgot to check their inventory to see if they had this in stock for my Honda and they did not. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They did good work from what I can tell. HOWEVER, the mark up on the price of the parts is OVER THE TOP. I used their part numbers to look up the parts on rockauto.com and I found that they charged me 3 times as much as the parts would cost from rockauto.com. I find this ridiculous! I don't mind the labor rate as long as you are making $200 extra on the price of the parts. I probably will not return for future work due to this reason. I find it unethical. read more

I came in last Saturday to get an oil change and the Store Manager, Sean Chandra assisted me. Sean was very professional throughout the entire process and even informed me that my front tire threads were looking a bit worn and needed some attention soon. Brake Masters does not sell tires, but I appreciate Sean and the shop he runs as they are honest with their customers and provide great service and thats what keeps me coming back. Yesterday was my 3rd experience with this place. Final repair price was over $100 LESS than estimate! (About 1/3 less.) Previous time they put car on lift, removed all tires & hubs to ck brakes, then said everything was fine - all for $0.00! Nada. Zippo. When was the last time you had that happen? IMHO these guys are as honest as they come. While I was there yesterday I heard them tell a lady her rotors were too low to be turned but she didn't need new ones right now if she just wanted to remove the built-up glaze. Try to find another brake shop that would be that honest with a customer! I'll be going to them for everything I can, eg yesterday's had nothing to do with brakes; I needed auxiliary fan replaced. read more

I've been to this Brake Masters 4 times in the past couple of years. They are always friendly and courteous to me and other customers that come in. Before I found Brake Masters, I took my Volvo to other places with mediocre customer service and questionable mechanic abilities. Brake Masters noticed right away that my engine mount was severely cracked. The other places didn't see it. Maybe they were trying to rush to get the job done. Whatever the case, I was very impressed that Brake Masters took the time to really inspect my car while they did routine maintenance. Brian, the manager, never disappoints. We have been taking our vehicles to them for a year or 2 now and we have never had an issue. My wife called last week for an oil change and although they were busy he made sure to get her in before she went on a road trip. I've been taking all of my vehicles here for all of our work for about 2 years now, I must say from the first time I went I could tell Brian was honest. I was waiting in the lobby for about 2 hours while they worked on my car and I watched Brian tell at least 2 people nothing was wrong with their cars and sent them away. This tells me they are honest. Also the prices he quotes me are consistently lower than anyone else in Orangevale. The quality of work and honesty is appreciated! He always breaks it down and tells me what repairs are needed by priority too (Priority A B C) so if I cant afford everything I know what to do first. I have been going to this shop for 10+ years and never had an issue until recently. My car needed rear shocks so I got a quote over the phone and drove the car to the shop. I was then told by the store manager my car needed struts because the shocks are complicated on my car and you can't replace one without the other. I wondered why I was not told this earlier but since I had always trusted the shop, said ok. A relative of mine came to pick me up and I told them my car now needed an additional part. The manager made a big mistake, since my car did not need struts(they are on the front of the car, shocks are on the rear) and was told only to do the shocks on the car. I went back a few hours later to pick up the car only to have my bill not be adjusted to reflect the shocks only not the shocks and struts. Another worker was great and adjusted my bill. I found it odd the manager was out to lunch when I was told to return to get the car. I spoke to the district manager who was also quite nice, assured me customers were the priority and acknowledged the manager was wrong. The manager was supposed to call and apologize and never did. It has since been a few weeks. I would not trust that shop with the current manager and the district manager did nothing to keep my business. No discount on the work performed, no opportunity to come in and get a free oil change, nothing. It was at that point I realized being a loyal customer meant nothing to them. I would only go there if you have a good knowledge of your vehicle and if you were male. I will now be finding a different shop because the district manager also manages other Brake Masters so why would I go to a shop where I am not sure if I am valued. read more

Drove up to an empty garage ready to get both front and rear breaks. The man standing in the front with a European accent ask me why I didn't park in one of the parking spots. He then rudely gave me a price like he didn't want the work. Are you kidding me your arrogant comments just lost my business. I hope the owner fires you for being such a piece of garbage. We dropped my wife's car off to have a it diagnosed on a Saturday morning. We decided to wait until after Christmas to have the work done. We did not use that vehicle for the next couple of days and on Monday morning my wife thought her car had been broken into. All of her personal belongings in the back end was tossed around. We finally figured it out if was our friendly Brake Masters, not a criminal. To top it off, she noticed two greasy hand prints on her passenger seat and middle console. Brought my Honda in the other day heard a weird humming sound from the engine while accelerating so I asked them to run through the whole car let me know if anything needs to be fixed. They came back with a few things serpentine belt and recommend changing the shocks because they will go out soon. Had them change the belt and not the shocks because I was planning on buying a new suspension setup anyways I was driving my brother to school this morning and every stop sign I came to sounded as if my brake pads were metal to rotor so when I got to my dads I took the front tire off and sure enough there's no pad on my brakes... I find this insane seeing how I just asked them to inspect everything on my car they didn't even bother to check my brakes makes me wonder what else they missed... and this isn't the only incident we've had with them. so my brakes were metal to metal and I had made an appointment at another shop to get them done. They other place couldn't get me in until two days later so I decided to call Brake Masters and the manager Brian told me he could get me in as soon as I arrived. Awesome! I had to bring with me four kiddos and I was hoping they would behave for the couple hours I figured we'd be there. As soon as I got there, they pulled my Tahoe right it and did the inspection. Brian gave me the facts and let me decide on a few different options and prices without pressuring me. They got right to work and during this time, Brian turned on cartoons for the little ones and even printed out a ton of coloring pictures for the girls!!! He told me that he would try and get the brakes done in an hour and even went out to help just to meet the time frame he had said. I'm SUPER HAPPY with the customer service that Brian and the staff provided. Not only was he friendly, but went above and beyond to make my day a breeze!!!!
