Very very very helpful! I started hearing grinding and I knew something had to be wrong with my brakes so I came in a little after they opened and they did a free check on my breaks and come to find out I needed a couple things done. He didn't sugar coat anything and was honest didn't try to sell me on everything. I'm a student so of course its hard to pay for things when you have school expenses. It was great to find a good old fashion honest auto repair shop that also saved me a lot of money on dealer recommended repairs. The shop boss Abraham was awesome and he was able to save me almost a $100.00 from the dealership quoted front break job and also beat another quote i had gotten.They gave me a complete inspection and report on my entire brake system and they pointed out things that my dealership service center fail to catch. Decided to go there for new brakes after reading their good reviews. The service was great. They replaced my brakes and flushed the brake fluid for less than I've paid for at other places. Although it was recommended I replace the rear brakes as well as the front, I was told they were still okay for a few more months, so I didn't have to worry too much if I couldn't afford it at that time. This past June, I needed brakes badly for my Honda Civic. I chose Brake Masters because of the great reviews on Yelp. I was not disappointed. For a great price, Abraham and Jesse took of care of my car faster than I expected. One of his mechanics took the time to physically show me the wear on my rotors, and he did everything in his power to try and save each of them. He also showed me some other things I might want to get fixed in the near future...my water pump, timing belt, and radiator. He physically showed me the crack in my radiator and the leak in my water pump. My car had been overheating for over a year, so it made sense those things needed to be fixed. So a few months later, I took my car back here to repair the radiator. Jesse was really nice, and Abraham tried to help me find the best deal on parts and explained everything that needed to be done including his recommendations for the water pump and timing belt again. He gave me a great deal on the total repair cost. Juan and Sima repaired the radiator, and my car stopped overheating. A few days later, I called Brake Masters because my car was having idling issues. Jesse was nice enough to take my car in right away to unclog the EGR valve at no charge. My car started to run considerably better. My water pump was on the verge of failing, so it was just a matter of when...Sure enough a few weeks later it started leaking heavily, and I also started to hear some noises from where the timing belt is located. I brought my car in late in the day, so they had to keep it overnight. Abraham offered to give me a ride home, and he also offered to give me a ride to work in the morning. When Jesse gave me the estimate for repairs, I was a little worried because I couldn't afford an expensive timing belt and water pump repair. Again, Abraham called around to find a better price on parts for me. He also tried to set me up with some credit options like Flex Pay. Abraham kept reassuring me that he would get my car taken care of because he didn't want me to drive with a failing water pump. Juan and Sima did a phenomenal job on the timing belt/water pump repairs. Car is running smooth, and not leaking anymore. My car is idling perfectly...feels like I got a tune-up. I can finally turn my air-conditioning back on, and not worry about overheating my engine or losing power. Abraham and Jesse also recommended that I replace one of my O2 sensors if my engine light were to come on. Abraham gave me a very reasonable estimate for that repair. I'll be back to fix that. The guys at Brake Masters...Abraham, Jesse, Juan, Sima, and Carlos are all legitimate mechanics. They will tell you exactly what repairs your car may need, and they will break down the cost by parts and labor. They will scan your engine codes, scan everything under the hood, and their brake service is top notch. They will also help you as much as they can with financial assistance. Brake Masters in San Marcos won't cheat you, and they will fix their mistakes (if they happen) without charging you. I took my car to Brake Masters for a wheel alignment because the front end was shaking while driving on the freeway. I was told that the alignment wasn't the problem and that I would have to spend at least $400 to repair the bearings in the front end of my vehicle. I then took the vehicle to Synfast Oil change center in Escondido and they told me to take it back to Evans Tire because all it needed was an alignment which I could have done for free at Evans Tire because I purchased my tires there. Evans Tire performed the alignment and the vehicle runs great. I can't believe Brake Masters attempted to rip my off in such a unethical manner. I will never take my car to Brake Masters again and want to alert everyone possible to steer clear of them. read more

I own a Toyota 4-Runner that has traveled from Idaho to California and Washington to California multiple times, so needless to say my brakes took a beating. My brakes started making that tell tale squeaking sound and a little wobble when coming off the freeways. My commute to work is usually over an hour so i get home late in the day, so it was incredibly awesome to find a place that would see me after 4pm. They knew what they were talking about, and they got me fixed up in a timely manner, and did it for a very reasonable price. My Prius was consuming a lot of oil so I took it to Brakemasters and they looked at my car for free and identified the PCV value as the issue. Brake Masters did a fantastic job when I had a major issue with my front brakes. On top of letting them go too long before a pad change I was having issues with a spongy pedal. This is an extremely busy time of year for me and I only had a few hours free, Abraham made sure everything was set and and could get it done in time and the price was good. Unfortunately there were additional problems and while the guys stayed open a bit later to try and get my car back to me that day it was not possible. This would have been a major issue for me so Abraham provided me with a replacement truck and had my car repaired the next morning so I could pick it up on the way back from my morning appointment. These guys went over the top to provide great service and were extremely fair with the pricing for the initial work and even more so with the additional issues found after the fact. I brought my car there after Sears automotive department broke it, the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable,they were very patient when explaining the repairs every step of the way to me, they kept me updated with calls, I never had to call them wondering what the status of my car was, they also listened when I explained the problem to them and even checked out what I thought it was to ease my worries, it seemed as though they went out of their way to help me (especially after having such a bad time at sears), they are officially my new mechanic, they know what they're talking about and they don't just say something needs to be repaired to rip you off. for those who want or planning to have your car fix.. do not take your car here.. this shop is a total ripped off. . my parent who does not know anything about car brought thier 2006 MAZDA car here for a repair and an engine light on.. they offered them unnecessary repairs i.e $109.45 for an oil change, $ 274.65 for a spark plug change out ($ 77.70 for 6 spark plugs), brake pad replacement (front wheel) = $226, brake pad replacement (REAR wheel) = $236..this mother effers. suggested to do a rotor disc resurface for $20 labor per tire, a total of $80.00 labor for resurfacing.. who does this.. if a rotors are really bad, an honest mechanic would replace them a brand new one for the same LABOR price.. why would they suggest to re surface it.. BULLSHIT ???? fuel system clean out for = 69.95.... a total of $ 916.05. all this are just for an engine light on. ..this mother effers are a total ripped off shop. if you dont know anything about cars they will take advantage of you.. please heads up do not take your car here. i hope karma will get this shop back.. they will give you a " manager's discount" so you can have them fix your car..... and says they offer a lifetime warranty bullshit. for the fact that thier reciepts only says 90 days warranty .. but you have to pay for the labor of 4x the parts cost. 1. what makes me mad is.. a spark plug change out for 274.65 for a 2 hours of work.. $77.70 for 6 spark plugs.. what kind of spark plug did they put in here a 18k gold plated FERRARI SPARK PLUGS.. And took them 2 hours to change all 6 of them.. .. stupid!!!! 2. OIL CHANGE: $86.45 FOR A 6 QRTS OF OIL.. WTF WHAT TYPE OF OIL DID THEY POUR IN THERE? DID THEY JUST POUR LAMBOURGHINI OIL 10W/60!!! 3. AIR FILTER REPLACEMENT: $16.95 ... Needed break work done before getting new tires. Brake Masters got me in immediately, quoted me a fraction of what the dealership wanted and was able to get me back on the road on a tight timeline. I was so impressed with the service and quality of work that the next day, after buying new tires, went back to them to get my tires aligned. I usually like to go to a place that specializes in something. Tires at a tire place, brakes at a brake place, but I must admit, I found my go to car facility in Brake Masters. Everyone there from Jonny to the tech working on my car was professional, courteous, hard working and personable. I am the type that doesn't mind spending more as long as I get the work I paid for. I don't have that problem with brake masters. I know going there that they will be fair to me as a customer knowing that with quality service they will earn repeat business. I am a customer of theirs for good now. I'm in the military and move a lot. It is very difficult to find a good place you can trust in every new city you move to. Those in Southern California have a fantastic place just off the 78. I would recommend Brake Masters to everyone I know. This was my first time here and these guys were amazing!! I told them I needed my front brake pads done, they asked if I wanted the brake lines flushed and since I had never had it done before agreed to do so. They had me look at the front and back brake pads before they started to show me how much I had left in the back, which I need done pretty soon. They noticed my " check engine" light was on, offered to check it at no charge, and was something they could fix and did at no extra charge! They offered my son and I a ride home since it was going to take about an hour and a half, and picked me back up. They didn't try and get me to do a whole bunch if other things. Being a single mom, and now having this place to go to for all my truck needs is awesome. I already told my neighbor who said she was looking for a place to take her car, I told my roommate for his 2 cars and will tell all my co-workers and any of my customers who mention they need car work. I work in a large retail company and hope to send them a lot of business. These guys were great, my daughter will also have all her car work done here as well.. read more

The guys here are all wonderful. I got my brakes down here a while ago because they had the best prices in town. I came in today because my check engine light came on. Most other places charge for this but they did it for free. It was something minor about the gas cap so they checked it (for free) and I went on my way. A little bit after I went to get gas down the road and my car wouldn't start. I freaked out. I called a tow truck then I called the shop back to make sure it wasn't something that they missed. Instead of making me wait, they sent their technician, Sima, I think his name was, out to come look at my car. Before the tow truck even got there he got my car started again! He is such a good guy, he checked everything and drove it to make sure I wasn't going to be stranded again then turned off my car and started it again. All of this and they didn't charge me a dime. I was so happy and relieved. I'm a customer for life now. read more
