I've been bringing my vehicles to this Brake Masters location for several years and trusted the work being done. After recently deciding to service my cars myself, I discovered several serious issues: Car 1: Wrong oil filter installed. Car 2: Same wrong oil filter as Car 1, even though the cars require very different parts. I also found a completely loose bolt underneath the car -- same size as the oil drain plug. It looks like a mechanic loosened it, realized it wasn't the oil plug, and never tightened it back. I now have to verify whether it was the transmission drain plug (And no it does not come loose by itself). Car 3: Wrong oil used, and a makeshift "fix" on the oil pan bolt using two washers as spacers to make it seal. No mention of this, no explanation, and no proper repair. This may sound minor, but it isn't. After correcting the oil and filters myself, the cars run noticeably smoother -- and one vehicle that had a persistent check‑engine light (ever since I started bringing it here) is now running properly with the correct oil and filter. While I was initially very satisfied with the customer service and speed of the work done, I am now going to say RUN FROM THIS BUISNESS! After under 800 miles on my vehicle since the work was done I experienced complete brake failure. The mechanic who later I found out is supposed to be the manager did not tighten the bolts that hold the caliper on the rotor. I was driving in downtown Burbank and out of nowhere had complete brake failure. I was able to limp my vehicle to a shop that was luckily a block away. As I pulled into the parking lot the remaining brake fluid that was in the system puddled on the pavement under my vehicle. The mechanic at that shop took the tire off and discovered the steel brake line to the drivers side caliper was cracked. Upon further inspection it was discovered that one of the bolts that hold the caliper on the rotor was missing and the remaining bolt was barely threaded in. The movement of the caliper on the rotor from not being tightened caused the brake line to crack and leak. They gave me a quote and couldn't get parts until the next day so I had to use Uber to get home and go back the next day to pickup my vehicle which cost me $80 each way. Once I picked up the vehicle I went straight to Brake Master's to explain what happened. I was met with a manager who was extremely unapologetic and unprofessional. He was combative and aggressive which caused me to be aggressive back. He even followed me to my vehicle in the parking lot acting aggressively. You would think since the guy almost caused me great harm he would have treated the situation differently. I have contacted corporate and not the fake corporate that attempted to call me which was obviously someone from another Brake Master's shop impersonating corporate. I think I deserve my money back for the work they did poorly, the repair bill from the other shop, and my uber rides at the very least. I will also be filing a formal complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repair and seeking legal action if corporate doesn't respond accordingly with my complaint. DO NOT TRUST THIS SHOP!!! read more

** BUYER BEWARE ** This place tries to upsell and overcharge you for service. I brought my car in to get my brakes replaced since I bought the lifetime brakes warranty from the Northridge location a year or so ago. I brought it to this location since it's closer to my home. I thought it would be a simple brake pads replacement since the Toyota dealership which just serviced my car a few days before told me I just needed new brake pads along with resurfacing my rotors. However, Ricardo informed me that I needed new rotors and the cost would be $337.00 which is I knew was extremely high. He said, he can only get OEM parts for my car and that I was getting a very good deal. I showed Ricardo the service invoice from the Toyota dealership along with the price of $285 they quoted me for new brakes. After seeing the invoice, Ricardo offered me the same price for the new rotors. If I was already getting a good price at $337 why did Ricardo offer me a price $285? That's when I knew he is trying to overcharge me the service. I decided to walk out and just take my car to the Northridge location. A few days later, I had my car serviced at the Northridge location. I replaced both my rotors and paid $235 with tax. I was referred to Brake Masters by Ryan at America's Tire, after trouble removing one lug nut from the stripped lug bolt, in the process of replacing the last of my 4 newly purchased tires. He managed but stated he could not replace that lug and the wheel would still be safe to drive with only 4 rather than 5. But that Brake Masters could replace it "for free". You can imagine that I had my doubts about that. So today I brought my vehicle in and just as I had imagined there was nothing "free", but a discount was offered. $80.00. Which required replacing the lug bolt as well. But they had me just about ready to get back on the road after my return from lunch. Maybe an hour later. I called them super last minute asking if they are able to replace a wheel stud (the part where the lug nuts screw onto) since the vehicle I had just bought had one where the thread was stripped. They don't honor the lifetime warranty that they sell you. They use the cheapest of brakes that will destroy your rotors. once your rotors are destroyed they say they won't put on new brakes. Will never take my car here again. Came in for a 4 wheel alignment. Their mechanic wasted over an hour trying to adjust something that was already adjusted correctly (which I got charged extra for). Drove the car home, and immediately realized the car was not aligned because it pulled to one side. Took the car back the next day, and they "verified the alignment". Car drove home with less pull than before, but still not perfect. Now, I went to rotate my tires this weekend and discovered that they never tightened the nuts holding the heim joints on both rear wheels!!! $1700 for a Brake job?? Lol. This guy (picture below) don't know his name quotes me $1700 for a brake job. I originally came in to get a lug nut and stud replaced because Americas Tire sent me there after they damaged it. I called before I even going there because I wanted to make sure they had the parts in stock and he assured me he did. He told me to come on Thursday 7-15-2021 at 9am when they open. He got there about five minutes late and wearing shorts and flip flops. Just like me but I'm not at work. So they start on the car and I ask if they can check the wear on the brakes while its on the rack. I just bought this used Lexus LS two months ago. (55k miles) He said it's about ready for brakes, both front and rear. Evan though the car has sensors that will warn me before they are due for replacement. He recommended OEM parts except for the sensors. He also recommended that we replace all four Rotors. Really? It's original equipment and shouldn't need replacement. I asked why can't you just "Turn" them? He said it's not recommended or something like that. Ok. Give a quote. He tells me about $1600 with an aftermarket rear set of pads but I said just go with OEM all the way around. So he says $1700. Lol. Ok. Let me think about it. He says he can do it right now. Would take about an hour and a half. Well, I Don't have time right now, I have to go to work. Then he tells me he's waiting on the lug nut. I reminded him that I called him two days prior and assured me he had the parts. Guess not. He tells me "I don't carry every single lug nut in inventory"I don't expect you to. That's why I called to make sure he had the parts. So I leave with a missing lug nut and come back the next morning to get it. He puts it in my hand and I asked him if he could give me a written quote? He said we don't do that. Again, Really?? It was at this point he knew what I know. That he's a Fraud! I called Keys Lexus of Valencia on my way to work after the first day just to see what they would charge for all four corners. They quoted me $740 with all OEM parts including the sensors! A Lexus Dealer! The only difference is they would turn my rotors as opposed to just replacing them. Does Brake Masters even turn brake rotors? After reading some of the reviews it looks like they just like to sell new rotors. The reason I asked for something in Writing was to support my one star review. So I'm assuming the owners rebuttals may discount my review. So if the owner wants to talk about it, let me know. I don't like to bash a local business but I am pretty sure this is a common practice. Other reviews support my experience. My only advice to the readers is to get multiple quotes even if it's over the phone from other local businesses that have good yelp Ratings. Dropped off my car for a tire rotation, alignment, and oil change. They called me to tell me I needed new rear brakes, which I was expecting. My wife picked up the car as we were getting ready for a trip out of state. I noticed the car was still out of alignment and sensors were saying tire pressure was low.
