I just left having lunch with my friends. Once the waitress came to the table she was very dry and didn't welcome us at all! After getting our food and drinks it took the waitress 50 minutes to come back to the table to ask us if we needed anything. After ordering again we waited another 40 minutes to get our order while empty plates and cups are still on the table! After finally getting ready to check out, we waited an additional 45 minutes to get our checks which we had to go find the waitress to bring our checks. We brought it up to the manager Katie attention and she was very Rude and treated us like second class citizens compared to how she treated the other customers who were WHITE! She told us after we said we are unhappy with the service, she said "Don't come back". Wow is this customer service? You telling paying customers don't come back after we have been giving bad service since we sat down! This is a nice quaint spot in a great location. Parking can be a tough one due to it being in a busy downtown area depending on when you go. It's self seating and it doesn't take long for someone to come and greet you. This is my third visit and the waitstaff took a little bit longer than usual I only noticed because I was supper hungry. I love stopping in for a quick bite. It doesn't take long for the food to come out and it's super delish. Everyone is supper nice here and the bar makes excellent drinks. If you are looking for a bite to eat before or after a flight- this tiny section of college park is a great place. We loved the open feel of Brake Pad (lots of garage doors that open into a large patio.) the servers were all very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the variety in the menu. I do not know where to start with the audacity of the bartender name CORY. And the staff and manager allows him to treat customers with the most disrespectful attitude and worst customer service. I asked him politely to please remake my margarita because it had too much sweet and sour mix in it. He took a very long time to remake it and sent it over only to receive a half of a glass to show me exactly how he felt about me asking to remake the drink. The other customers around me received a full glass and they agreed with me about his customer service. I have been a loyal customer for years and have asked several times for another bartender when Cory is there. After along day at work I should not have to endure this type of behavior from an employee. This is unacceptable customer service. This is a kool place to kick it not far from the airport in the historic East Point area. The wings.... let's stop and discuss this. LOVELY! I am a wing fan and I KNOW good wings. Here are some. My go to meal is the 10pc lemon pepper with the BrakePad fries. Bleu cheese of course. Also I love the long islands. I like the top shelf and pineapple juice instead of coke. This amazing food gem is located right in front of a railroad track in College Park. What used to be an old automobile garage or gas station is now a wonderful restaurant, hence the name "Break Pad". Okay, I've been here twice now and I will say that the food and service is excellent. This restaurant has not disappointed me in the last two times that I have visited. The portions are plentiful and filling. THE BURGER: Their beef patty was cooked to perfection and to my liking (medium well). It did not taste frozen at all. The bun was really good, it was soft and chewy and had a perfect toasted/grilled taste to it. The red onions and romaine lettuce used tasted absolutely fresh. All in all, I give this burger a five out of five. THE FRIES: Their fries are large in size and very thick. They are fried and crisped to a perfect golden brown. They seem to be made in their own kitchen and were served piping hot. The inside had a wonderful potato thickness and texture to it. All in all, I give their French fries a four out of five due to the fact that they came out to me a little overly hot. The reason why I have deducted one star from this establishment is due to the fact that I did have to wait approximately half an hour for my food. I do understand how busy and crazy this restaurant gets when it's super busy with tons of people on most weekends and Fridays. So, here's the thing..... When my day started out, I was hoping for Thai, however when we arrived at the Thai restaurant it was closed, so my friend suggested Break Pad, which was around the corner, the irony is, while visiting my Father earlier in the day, I drove by and wondered why I had never tried it. We seated ourselves inside, ordered a few beers, and perused the menu, immediately I liked the vibe, BP is genuinely kick back spot. We ordered the hummus to start. After asking the waitress about the black bean burger, I ended up deciding on the shrimp tacos. The hummus came with all manner of yummy veggies, cucumbers, strips of red pepper, red onion, tomato, and warm wedges of pita. The hummus was a little heavy on the tahini, but it was still delish, very flavorful and tons of texture. When my shrimp tacos came I was a little surprised that they were flour, however the tortillas were warm and toasty, the shrimp plump and ample, and covered in all kinds of spicy wonderfulness. Add a little salsa, sour cream, avocado and red onion and I was beyond satisfied. The chips on the side added the right amount of crunch. The service was great, our waitress was around when she needed to be, was super polite, and made sure our food arrived toasty. Perfect meal. Will absolutely be doing it again. read more

The food here is consistently good. If you're passing through Atlanta on your way to or from Florida, and want something other than McDonald's or Cracker Barrel, try Brake Pad. If the wait isn't too long, you should be in an out in an hour. What to eat...their burgers are all good...all of them. Tater tots and fries never disappoint. The chicken plates are also quite decent. What I skip...salads and BBQ. I have tried both and just didn't dig em. The bar fare is decent. Mixed drinks are ok and whatever is on tap is always good. Service is also decent. Not excellent, but definitely three star worthy. Sometimes it gets really busy here, so just relax with a beer and enjoy the surroundings. Sure the train comes by every so often but those are the times when you eat your food instead of trying to talk over the train. SPeaking of the food, man is it good. This last visit we ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and black bean burger and both were juicy, bursting with flavor and well received. Unfortunately the tots were all out and we were left with french fries instead, but no worries, they did the job! A friend of mine suggested Brake Pad while I was in Atlanta for a work trip. It's close to the airport/Delta Airlines Corporate Office, and I guess some of the folks visit here afterwards. It's either an old service station or a building that was built to look like an old service station with plenty of outdoor seating. I arrived a few minutes early and had a chance to go inside and grab a drink. The bartender was friendly and gave me a rundown on the selections. I asked for something local and was told that Sweetwaters was pretty good, so I went with one and was pretty happy with it. Once my friend arrived we grabbed a seat outside. A few fans were running since it was a little warm out, but they didn't do much except blow cigarette smoke towards us as we were trying to eat. I'm not from Georgia and it always surprises me that you can still smoke at restaurants here. Service was good. Our server came back multiple times to check on us and made sure our water was nice and full. Food was also really good.. I went with a sandwich but was jealous of my friends beef brisket tacos (I think). A cute little neighborhood kind of place worth checking out if you're in the area. read more

If it is cold outside make sure you are there early for lunch or a wait will gather quickly. My wife had the Blackbean Burger and I had the Reuben, both outstanding!!! I'd learned of Brake Pad thru my hair stylist one day when they'd ordered take out and the first thing she said is "oh those tacos". Well I love tacos so that was enough to get me here! Stop in Sat afternoon around 3pm with 2 friends, one lives in the neighborhood and also said Brake Pad was good eats. We seated ourselves, the waiter came by took our orders and brought out beverages, one water, one ginger ale, one sweet tea and a Margarita. It was a mild sunny Sat so we reviewed the menu and talked while waitng. Soon our food arrived looking yummy! I ordered the shrimp tacos (on flour tortillas, I prefer soft corn shells but these were good) and a side of tator tots, one friend ordered the grilled tilapia tacos with tots and one had the buffalo chicken salad with bleu cheese dressing. We swapped and tasted eachothers meals. I really liked the buffalo chicken salad :-) and the shrimp tacos...the tilapia tacos, not so much. You get loads of tots so next time I will share an order. The staff was sarcastically friendly and the service was fast. The atmosphere was nice, the food took almost an hour (turkey burger/fries) and that is ridiculous. The turkey burgers was tasty, the pickle looked old so I didn't eat it. I ordered no tomato but I could see the tomato seeds on my lettuce so I know they had it on there then removed it before serving me (thank God I'm not allergic to them). The waiter must have been new because he was all over the place (very unorganized, I never received my glass of wine or extra napkins but he was nice). The outside seating was enjoyable especially with the nice breeze. The lemonade wasn't great at all and my cup that had water in it was dirty. Personally I found this place to have great food, perfectly cooked, with an attentive and friendly staff. I always read the negative reviews to see what people are complaining about and it seems like most of them were because of poor service, I guess people not getting the attention they felt that they should. Perhaps the owner did something about it because I was quite happy. As I said my service was excellent and I had a burger which was cooked perfectly and quite tasty. As for the guy that gave them one star and went off about masks, all the employees I saw were wearing masks all of the time. Your review does nothing to tell us about the service or the food. Waited 40 minutes for a really bad cup of coffee --- Go to the Pig and the Pint or Debbie's Delights instead. I've been to the Brake Pad about 15 times in the past 18 months. Yes, the food is great. Yes, the service is ABYSMAL. Unless, of course, you get tall, dark-haired Jeremy, who is fast, efficient, polite, and all around exceptional. He is the Brake Pad's only saving grace. Today I arrived at about 11:45 AM to a nearly empty house. Just one table filled outside, perhaps 3 or four inside. The server promptly greeted us and I asked for water and a cup of coffee. My companion asked for a Coke. The water and coke arrived shortly, but no coffee. I re-iterated my request for coffee. A few minutes later it arrived in a nice, large, latte cup with a full tin of cream. I could not wait to dig into it. I needed sugar, but I figured I'd have an opportunity to ask her later. At the first sip, it was cold. Cold like it had been sitting on the coffee maker with the burner turned off for about an hour. Fine, I'm not too fussy, if she would just microwave it for me, I'd be delighted. It took her about 15 minutes to get back to our table. I explained that the coffee was served cold, and could she please heat it up? She assured me she'd make a fresh pot, although I said she needn't trouble and could just heat this one up and bring me sugar. The table that came in after us was served their food. Wait a minute...why is the table that came in 10 minutes after us getting served their food first? My companion's food came out 2 minutes later. Yes, it was hot and delicious. But it came out AFTER a later table was served. One would think that a quesadilla doesn't require an inordinate amount of time to prepare and cook. Ten minutes go by and she pops out and says, "I'm working on your coffee!" I practiced patience. Another 15 minutes later and a completely different person comes out and hands me a tiny cup of coffee. Half the size of the other one. Steaming hot. And most definitely INSTANT COFFEE. I sat around for 40 minutes waiting for a cup of freaking SANKA? Really? Not only was the service abysmally slow, but they tried to serve me freaking Sanka! Do not, I repeat, do NOT go here. Travel a few miles into the center of East Point to Debbie's Delights for amazing home-cooked food. Granted, the service can be a little slow there, but NEVER as slow as the Brake Pad and they won't insult you with instant coffee. If you want a full service bar with your delicious food, head about 4 miles down the road to the Pig and the Pint on Virginia Avenue. After this last insulting incident, I am done with the Brake Pad, I will go anywhere else but here. Many of my friends still go there, but I will not be joining them and I am going to suggest that they visit Debbie's Delights or the Brake Pad instead. After over 15 chances with only Jeremy being a good (in his case, great) server, the Brake Pad has made the list of places that not only will I not support, but I will encourage my friends to seek food and beverages elsewhere. read more

On a recent weekend trip to Atlanta I stumbled upon this gem. The building is a old car garage which has been turned into a small restaurant, hints the name Brake Pad. They've got about 10-15 tables outside with limited seating inside, all of which are seat yourself. The restaurant is small and during busy times it may take a while for them to clean tables off. We ate here twice and each time it was delicious! The first time I had a bacon cheeseburger. The burger is simple but very flavorful and was cooked perfectly medium. The food was delicious here! I had a pimiento bacon cheeseburger with fries and a side salad. I was really hungry that night after doing a Walking Dead tour! Anyway, the burger was at least 1/2 lb and cooked to perfection. The meat was hot pink and evenly spiced throughout with fresh crisp romaine and tomatoes. I ended up having quite a few drinks there too. They gave me a generous amount of sweetly spiced and somewhat crispy steak fries and I was not disappointed. The only downside is the location.
