I've had a couple of experiences with brakes plus. Both were positive to say the least. First time was for a break job. Great service, communication during the job and after the price is to the penny what was quoted. Great experience all around. This time was an emergency. I went to the location and spoke with Lowell who gave me a options for repair, approximate time, and a basic cost. He did advise me that they couldn't start until after ten am, if that was ok. I agreed and dropped it off first thing this morning. Steve callled me to advise I had an issue with my taillight. I told him to try to fix it, but if not no worries. A little before ten this morning Lowell called and advised they were all done. Once again, the team delivered what was promised. Bottom line - you can trust Steve and Lowell to get you taken care of. Break plus need to clean the house in this location. My car was in this location for over a week and I didn't get call from them, I had to call them about my car asking what was the issue. I went back after over a week they told me they couldn't fix my car. By far, this was the worst experience I've ever had with a company working on my vehicle. I initially brought my car in because the check engine light came on. After running diagnostics, I was told the issue was related to a knock sensor misfire. Instead of recommending replacement of the knock sensor, I was advised to get a $600 tune-up in hopes that it would resolve the problem. I trusted their professional recommendation and agreed to the service. Unfortunately, immediately after the repairs were completed, my vehicle was still experiencing the exact same issue. I contacted the shop right away, but because it was late Saturday afternoon, I was told I would need to wait until Monday to bring it back in. When I returned Monday, I spoke directly with the manager and explained everything that had happened. He told me that if the issue turned out to be the knock sensor after all, he would cover the cost with no problem. We scheduled for me to return Thursday morning. On Thursday, after the technicians confirmed the knock sensor was indeed the issue, I explained that the manager had already agreed to cover the repair. However, I was then told that because the manager was unavailable, there was nothing they could do and I would need to come back again. When I returned Friday, the manager completely changed his position. He stated he could not cover the repair because, after speaking with the technician who originally recommended the tune-up, they decided it was simply a "process of elimination" to diagnose the problem. After wasting $600 on unnecessary repairs, I ended up taking my vehicle to Big O Tires. They replaced the knock sensor and informed me that I simply needed a Hyundai system update afterward. They also told me the tune-up I was sold was unrelated to fixing the actual problem. I feel completely misled and taken advantage of. I trusted their expertise, spent hundreds of dollars on repairs that did not resolve the issue, and then was given conflicting information and broken promises from management. I would strongly caution others before bringing their vehicle here, especially if you cannot afford to waste money on unnecessary repairs. read more

I went in and they were able to keep my appointment time they showed me everything that needed to get done and didn't make me feel like I was dumb for not understanding they were kind and worked with me abs made a plan that I was able to afford and were very transparent with me. They were prompt and keep me well informed and preformed the services I requested without tons of upsell and were just great I don't know about other breaks plus locations but this one was AMAZING cannot recommend enough read more

I dropped my car off 3 months ago for a free brake check. They were super quick and friendly and did the free check told me I was getting close to needing new brakes. Went in last Friday. I was able to drop my car off an hour before my appt for new brakes . They called me to let me know what my car needed. A short time later my car was ready. Where do I start with this place? I go in to have my AC checked, they say everything is fine and I just have a few leaks that need to be fixed (which is what I suspected. They fix the leaks and tell me everything works perfect and I now have ice cold AC. However, when I pick up my car, the AC isn't actually working and there is a new annoyingly awful sound coming from AC compressor. I come back and they tell me the compressor has seized up and needs to be replaced. Great, that's at least $1200. So now it's my compressor that's the issue, even though it worked fine when they tested it before and it's never made that sound since I've owned it? The compressor was never the issue until the likely overcharged it with freon and broke it. I know this because it never made that sound before and my AC slowly went from cold to cool to warm indicating a simple leak. They broke my AC!! They did refund me the $300 they charged me for but this doesn't compare to the $1200 I now have to pay to fix the compressor. Of course no accountability was taken and they've denied breaking anything. Bonus: They tried to sell me on a $75 air filter change. What an absolute ripoff. Air filters are $10 and take 10 seconds to change. read more

Called Brakes plus out at this location for failing to do work they claim they did. After 3 years and constant visits, they still did not do proper work and charged for work not completed. Told to contact Bram Riede ( sipposed district manager) to resolve problem only to have him respond that he refused to do any future work with me. I gave him a bad review as result and highly recommend all customers to choose an independent service shop rather than chained companies like this one. The DM needs to be fired to respond to customers that way and failing to do work requested. read more

Brakes Plus - Auto Repair Near Me - Aurora, Colorado

This place is a joke. I have Krumer Auto (nearby) do a suspension conversion on my 2005 Buick LeSabre. I had to replace the stock air suspension (leaking air) to standard coilovers. Krumer did the suspension swap correctly, but they just couldn't do the camber correction and wheels alignment -- this requires dedicated garage space for alignments with specialized equipment that small shops like Krumer don't have. I brought it to this location and figure it would be a simple alignment. They called me after a whole day and just said, "your car is ready to pick up". When I get there, they told me they haven't done anything to the car, "because the suspension was installed wrong." When I pushed for details, they couldn't offer any. Just vague statements about how it "could be anything" from incorrect parts to improper installation. They said one wheel had a +2 degree camber (which I knew, that's why I brought it in) and this made it impossible to correct (???). This would be like showing your plumber a leak and him saying he can't fix it, because the pipe is leaking. Either way, they insisted the installation of the new suspension was done wrong. They even brought in the mechanic who took a look at my car, who proceeded to talk down to me and get frustrated AT ME for not understanding his vague explanations. I then took the car BACK to Krumer Auto. The kind owner (Alex) promptly lifted my car up and proceeded to show me, in great detail, step-by-step everything they did and why the suspension was correctly installed. He showed me exactly where the alignment on the suspension is "set", how an alignment shop would correct it, and why specialized equipment is needed to do it. He spent 20 minutes with me, with my car up on the lift, teaching me about it in a kind and patient way. Let me just say this: If a mechanic can't explain, in detail, what is wrong...they..can't..be..trusted. There is a reason I try to avoid commercialized chains like Brakes Plus. Krumer Auto has been there for 28 years with one owner. I bet these clowns who "helped" me today at this Brakes Plus will be gone in a year. Complete jokes. My guess is, they knew it was just going to be a simple $89 job -- the price listed in their front office prominently on the wall -- and didn't want to bother to do the job, so put the blame on someone else. I brought my work van in for oil change and tire rotation. I had an appointment but that didn't matter to them. After waiting an hour and half the front desk guy brings me outside to talk. He tells me that they refuse to service my van because of the smell. I was furious with that response. I said "you make me waite this whole time to tell me this". He said, "if I get it detailed they would do the service ". He went back in to get the manager for me to talk to this person, but only to return with my keys and left me very upset and letdown. I'm a mobile dog groomer so my van isn't going to smell that great, but it could be a wh ole lot worse. I will never use this company ever. And I will let everyone I know about my terrible experience with them. read more

You know how weird/bad things only happen on the weekend, after hours and without warning? Suddenly the horn on my 2008 Honda CRV starts going off and more importantly WONT stop on Sunday afternoon. Can you say moving hazard? Ok, it did stop, intermittently, enough for me to drive to find someplace to help and/or fix. Walmart couldn't but suggested these guys, fortunately very close. So go (and of course horn starts going off) like I needed a reminder... Go inside and explain the situation and they found a way to turn off horn. Yes, yes I know a working horn is important, not as important as a horn going off intermittently and causing a panic and/or accident. And did it for free (Damn near fainted upon hearing). This is my somewhat delayed but very grateful post to let the rest of the world know about this place. These guys are good. read more

I came in for an alinement and these guys tried to rip me off. They told me my truck needed $1700 in repair. They also told me I couldn't get an alinement until these repairs where done. So I went to Firestone for a second opinion and I got my alinement done by Firestone. I showed them the paperwork from Brakes Plus and they said they just wanted to get money out of me. I brought my 2008 Acura MDX in with a annoying misfire and was told my O2 oxygen sensors should be replaced. THEN they they tried to sell me a $34.98 sensor for .....wait for it.......$336.99 EACH. That's 1000% mark-up. That's just PARTS ! They tried to sell me $12.00 spark plugs for $44.78 EACH PLUG ! They wanted $2646.69 for a tune-up (spark plugs) ...Oxygen sensors (easy)....and a couple of motor mount replacements . CROOKS !!! BEWARE ! read more

This used to be my favorite location. Not anymore. I recently visited this location for an oil change, coolant flush, fluids check and brakes check. It was after the brake inspection that they recommended that i replace all four rotors and pads. I was not prepared to hear this because I had not felt or heard anything to indicate this much of a fix. I declined the repair but I had them proceed with the oil change and coolant flush. They also said the brake fluid needed to be replaced so I had them do that. As with most big repairs, I sought a second opinion at a different shop two days later. The second shop told me that the rotors and pads did not need to be replaced and to check again in six months. Just to make sure this wasn't a fluke, i went to a third shop the next day. They too said that the brakes were fine and the recommended replacement was not needed. I understand that recommended services are just that, recommended. But I wonder how many people think that they need to fix whatever the shop recommends. Im sure most people dont seek alternate opinions either. Has this location done this to others? If I did not do the extra work to double and triple check, I would be out over $700. Did Brakes Plus think I was a sucker? That I would just go ahead and authorize whatever they told me? I was already spending a good amount on the other services (around $200). Did they really need to get more money out of me? This location had been my go to for oil changes and repairs for about four years. After this, I am done with them. read more

Came in for a break inspection - left the car and was given a time estimate of an hour and a half. Came back two hours later since we never received a phone call (as we were told we would), and spoke with the Service Manager Mike. Mike told us the car hasn't been touched and it would now be three hours more until the car would be inspected (three bays were visibly empty with techs just lounging about) - which then would take an additional 45 minutes to do the inspection. We couldn't wait any longer, and decided to take our business elsewhere. No sympathy was given nor did they seem to care at all that we were without a car for two hours. Waste of time. I had taken my Tiguan in because my brakes were making a loud growling noise. The workers were prompt in getting my car looked at. I left within an hour of my consultation and arrived the next morning for my appointment to get them replaced. The guys working in there got my rear brakes fixed in a quickly manner and called me right when they were done. For a European car, you would expect the price to be sky rocketed but they surprisingly were very affordable and I did shop around prices. Very friendly atmosphere inside with couches, AC and TV's. Came here for the first time a few months ago to see if they would change out the washer fluid nozzle, I brought the part and they didn't charge me to switch it out. That never happens at mechanics... was super happy. Went back today to get a quote on brakes after a horrible experience at a competitor (just brakes). They did not find the same issues as the other guys (I knew the other guys were lying since I'm a female...) turns out my quote was hundreds of dollars less, including a high mileage oil change that was half the price of the other guys. This is the only place I'm taking my car from now on. The employees are all very nice and honest. I 100% recommend them! read more

I made an appointment for a basic oil change first thing in the morning. Weirdly enough the same morning I woke up to a notification on my phone that "an unknown device is traveling with me" which apparently is a tracking device. I'm single and live alone, so I was freaked. I asked the guys at brakes plus to check my car when it was up in the air. Two different men came to assure me they were checking everything. They dropped my exhaust and checked above my pipes and muffler, they checked the inside of my hitch, my gas tank, my license plates, under my hood and trunk and around the body where the plastic undercarriage was ripped away. They checked so many other places incant remember. They really went out of their way to look for me and gave me so much reassurance. I appreciate the extra effort! Thank you! read more

Been a trusted client of brakes plus and honestly I did trust their professionalism but today all that was flushed down because 1 they wanted to cheat me by telling me rear calipers for my Chevy Silverado truck were faulty and they needed a replacement which was not true after asking them to give me back my truck and I took it to a Chevy dealership that proved that my calipers are good I just need new rotors and break pads and brakes plus was charging me 922 dollars yet the dealership charged me only 349 dollars. Putting that a side I had already changed my rotors and breaks with breaks plus in July and they said it was lifetime warranty I paid 670 dollars but now they wanted me to pay 922 dollars that's was so wrong. Another thing I noticed is when a white person comes in without an appointment they will work on is car but when a person of color comes in and they ask do you have an appointment and they say no they say make an appointment for tomorrow we can't today yet they work on white people without appointments.. so low guys. read more

He answers a phone call a blows me off. Then another customer show up after he spends 15 minutes working with someone else on the phone. He totally blows me off with a terrible attitude. I notified them immediately but the manager at first told me they didn't cause the damage. She later apologized but refused to do anything about it. Naturally I pursued the matter by calling the number from the website. After providing pictures I had the most unbelievable conversations with the regional manager. He basically implied that I was trying to get Brakes Plus to pay for damage they didn't cause. Only after I posted a review on Yelp did he have a change of heart and agree to pay for repairs which totaled over $300. Nothing of course for my time, trips to the body shop, and aggravation at being talked to so disparagingly. Do you think I should continue to do business with Brakes Plus? I made an appt and brought my 2004 4Runner in for Radiator Fluid Exchange, Transmission Fluid Exchange, Brake Flush and Power Steering Fluid Exchange to keep my 4Runner happy and healthy. The manager Jeremy was fantastic from the second I walked into the door, greeted me, double checked everything I wanted to be performed before they started the work, kept me in the loop on progress while my vehicle was getting worked on, looked over the rest of the vehicle to make sure I didn't need anything else. He personally walked through my vehicle before handing over the keys to me when all was done. Very prompt, got all work done in a timely manner at a reasonable rate. Brakes Plus never replied. 9/10/19 Magically, having updated my review yesterday to report the lack of any reply from Brakes Plus corporate to my TWO responses to their contact request, I received a note from "the current" gm who "was not [] at this location for this incident." He apologized and said, "If you are ever in the area I would love for you to stop by and meet with me sometime so that I can show you the brakes plus experience that you unfortunately did not receive on your last visit." In no way does BP's response ameliorate the poor service I received. But gee, thanks for the apology. read more

I decided to get a coolant change and flush at this location. After driving around for a few weeks, my truck started to overheat. I found the leak in the cooling system - it was caused by a technician at this location not replacing a hose clamp correctly. I returned to the store, told them of the problem, and they refunded my cost for the gallon of coolant I had to put in. A few months later, I decided to give Brakes Plus another try. Oil change... a nice, easy re-introduction to Brakes Plus. A few days after my oil change, I noticed oil dripping from my engine compartment. Not only did they not take off my skid plates and had dumped used oil all over the top of the skid plates, they FORGOT TO PUT MY OIL FILL CAP back on. It was sitting on the top of the engine block, under some wires! Again, I returned to this location to explain the problem. Not even an apology from the manager... he simply refunded the cost of the oil change and sent me on my way. If you care about your vehicle, I would NOT use these guys. Absolute LACK OF ATTENTION TO DETAIL and NO customer service. read more

I had previously purchased your brake package for the front and rear. I went in a few weeks ago because my brakes were squealing. I needed new brake pads in the rear and new rotors. I was told we would be charged for labor and parts. I declined the charge for new hardware. After waiting for the work to be done, I was asked to pay for the bill. I used a $5 off coupon and a 10% discount for everything. I was instructed to sign for the bill costing $395.34. After signing I questioned why it was so high. I asked to see the receipt and the guy told me he didn't have one and it was in the car, and I would get it when the car was ready to be picked up. I asked if they could get the receipt for me to look at before I left. The guy huffed off the computer to get my receipt. Looking at the receipt I noticed there were quite a few errors and I questioned the guy about the additional prices. I asked why we just paid $395.34 when the receipt shows a total of $378.83. He did not know why. I then asked about the coupons we used and wondered why the 10% off wasn't included. The guy said it should be included but wasn't sure. I obviously saw that it was not there. The ignorance was shocking. Then there was additional charges for the hardware (which I declined adding), extra fluid and supply charges, a negative charge for front hardware, and none of the department charges added up whatsoever (except for the disposal fee). I asked to speak with a manager to discuss this. The manager came out and I asked for clarification. I got nothing. I asked for him to reprint the receipt so it would reflect the work done correctly. He said he cannot print or remake another receipt. Why not?? I showed him everything that was wrong and over/undercharged. He said he would give me a discount and asked me what I thought was fair, $50 - $60?. I said whats fair is fair. I said I wanted the receipt to reflect the CORRECT charges as I was overcharged by a large amount ($112.27). I had to do the calculations in my head for the manager to come to some resolution. The manager agreed to remove $80 for the mistake, which I should have asked for more because now that I've come home and calculated everything I realized I was still overcharged despite him removing $80. I feel taken advantage of and extremely upset. I did not appreciate the disrespect and I do not appreciate that your employees treated me this way. My whole experience at your store has been shame, and I know that there are some unethical practices going on! I contacted another manager and provided all the documents of the false charges. I attached a copy of an excel receipt that showed the false calculations as well as a section that reflects the CORRECT calculations. We received a response from the "new manager" that couldn't speak to what has already happened. They offered to fix the mistakes which included an additional refund and a free oil change. I followed up and never received a response. The fact that I was required to swipe my credit card n sign for something where I wasn't able to see what the charges were, is shady. I was overcharged and they assumed I was an idiot that would not catch the scammy charges. Good luck to you and everyone that does business at your location. You are all the reason why people do not trust their local mechanics. Scam artists like these people need to exposed. read more
