Not only were they very understanding about my budget needs, but they were very reassuring about repairs, very professional, and turns out - very reliable for service. Brakes Plus - 2008 Mazda 3 Touring Edition S - Auto Repair Near Me - Aurora, Colorado

Took my car in because the heater core was leaking. Was called and told that it needed a new heater core, radiator, water pump AND temperature gauge costing over $3,000. They did the work (took 5 days) and when I went to pick up the jeep, the rear defrost didn't work, heat didn't come out of the front vents and the windshield wiper fluid would not come out. I informed the mechanics and left it with them. They pulled the steering column off and saw that a chunk of plastic was broken off. They asked me if anyone else had been in the steering column,. I said no one but them. They then admitted that it had been crushed by them and replaced it. Regarding the front panel where the switches were for the A/C, defrost, heat vents etc.they stated that they would not have done anything to make it not work. I told them that all of those things worked prior to dropping the Jeep off and that they needed to fix what they broke. They said they would order that part of the panel and it would take a couple days and to come back. I leave the shop, in a snowstorm, and drive about a mile and a half when the Jeep will no longer accelerate forward. I am now stranded on the side of the road. They send a mechanic out who, after calling back to the shop, asks me if I have a knife and then proceeds to reach up under the dash, behind the brake pedal and pull out a piece of plastic with a zip tie on it. At this point I can drive the Jeep and go home. The next day the vehicle is dead. It will not start. I have it towed back to Brakes Plus. They call and inform me that it now needs a new alternator that will cost $744. I tell them it is new and was recently replaced. They then change the price to $569. I tell them no and take the Jeep to a different mechanic. There was NOTHING wrong with the alternator. All the Jeep needed was a new brake switch, which is located under the dash behind the brake pedal. The mechanics at BP had tried to rig this part with a piece of plastic and a zip tie and then let me drive off with it like that. The kicker is that they told me that I needed a new alternator when I didn't. Makes me wonder how many other parts they didn't actually replace. This was a complete scam and dangerous. DO NOT take your vehicle here for anything!!! read more

The front desk person wears his COVID mask on his chin--USELESS. Waited an hour and a half (with an appointment) before they even looked at my car and they started working on it. Was told they had left over jobs from the day before so were running behind. Since I was waiting for my vehicle on site, it would have been nice to have been told this at check-in. Had 2 belts replaced and had to bring the car back as they were still squealing. I will be looking for a new mechanic. read more

Buyer Beware! I recently brought my 2006 Mini Cooper to this location to have a brake inspection performed. After 30 minutes the technician (Bill) came back and advised me that not only were my brake pads down to 6/32 (and definitely needed to be replaced), but the rotors on both the front and back brakes were warped! All totaled it was nearly a $900 bill!!! I decided to go ahead and replace the brakes myself, so I purchased all the parts needed (for well under $300) and proceeded. Turns out, I did have 1 warped rotor (on the back), which was a quick fix, and while yes, all the brake pads were at 6/32, what they didn't tell me, was that the brand new brake pads start at 7/32!! I don't know if it was one technician trying to get one over on a customer or their usual business activity, but regardless, you should seek a second opinion before servicing anything at this location (I know I personally, will never use Brakes Plus again!)! read more

If you have ever been to a mechanic before, you know you're in for it. You show up expecting to pay what things cost, and then some. I don't remember a time I went to an auto repair shop and they didn't find something else "wrong" with my vehicle that they wanted me to pay for, not to mention how much they charge for even looking at it. But hey, they have to make a living and I understand that. But these guys at this Brakes Plus were amazing. I showed up 20 minutes early for my appointment and they were able to take me right away (just cause they weren't busy, I know I simply got lucky but it was still nice). I walked across the street to Target and Office Depot, did some shopping, came back and right as I walked in the mechanic came out to discuss my vehicle. He told me that my brakes were actually fine, good even, and that my A/C was also fine. No service was needed at all, which meant they did their free checks on my vehicle and were not going to get any money out of the deal. I walked out without paying a penny and their honesty and friendliness was so very refreshing that I will, without doubt, be returning to this location when my car DOES need work. read more

I called 40 minutes before and asked if they'd be able to do brake pads and an oil change. I told them I was coming from Arvada and I wouldn't be there for about 40-45 minutes. They told me that would work great and that they would have my car finished by 5pm. I got there and they told me that they had taken the last car for the day and that I would have to leave my car until Monday. That is something you tell someone over the phone before they drive 40 minutes. read more

Breaks Plus Aurora/Mississippi saved my day yesterday! I needed an alignment and to check breaks. I decided on Breaks Plus and dropped my car off at 9 am at the Centennial/Aurora location and was told it would be a couple hours before I got a call to let me know how the breaks looked. I hadn't heard anything by 11:45 so I called to check in and was told my car hadn't been looked at wouldn't be done until 4 or 5. I was concerned because I needed to get new tires as well and the tire place closed at 6. At 3 pm I got a call saying they weren't going to even be able to start my car for another hour and that I could come pick it up to get my tires and bring it back to be done the next morning. I picked my car up, got my tires, and called Breaks Plus Aurora/Mississippi - on the phone Chris said if I got my car over they would have it done that night no matter what. I had it there at 4:30 pm and they were done at 5:45 and even replaced a back taillight bulb for me. I loved the great communication of Chris and the crew over at Breaks Plus Aurora/Mississippi! I have a truck the truck recently had work done on it such as water pump, ball joints, shocks etc at another shop. It needed an alignment and I wanted an oil change as well. They had a coupon for a pretty good price to do all that so I took it to them. That's all I wanted done. So I made an appointment and brought it in. They take it in, and an hour and a half later they come back and say it needs new ball joints shocks struts water pump blah blah blah, and I tell them it just had all that done and he said no it needs all that, and I reiterated that I just wanted the damn alignment and oil change special for the coupon price nothing else, and he said they can't and won't do it until all this other work gets done and all that work was upwards of 4,000 bucks and I tell him I just had all that done and he brushed it off like it was nothing. They finished up the oil change and that's all I allowed them to do. Then I take it to another different shop and have a complete diagnosis of the truck, and as I stated the ball joints shocks water pump and everything was perfect, there was nothing else needed just a simple straightening of the steering wheel for the alignment which was done. I would not now or ever recommend any brakes plus or commercialized mechanics who not only are rude and try to get one over on their customers their flat out liars and scumbags. Don't trust their diagnosis they'll try to bait and switch you and upsell you something you don't need. I went from them quoting me about 4000 worth of work to another shop doing what was needed for 105. Need I say more, because I can feel free to ask read more

Been coming here for all my oil changes for four years, usually the guy who checks me in is very nice and recognizes me. But when I called earlier in the week to make an appointment, Roberto answered. I asked if I could come in today and said yes, to drop it off and I'd pick it up in 3 hours. I asked can I set an appt for today? He rudely said, "Yes, drop it off & pick it up in 3 hrs because we are full" if he had told me that in the beginning I wouldn't have asked for an appointment that day. He shouldn't assume customers know that information. I came in morning of my appt. He didn't care to be personable, he actually looked like he hated being there. He also did a standard oil change which in my file it shows I've always gotten the synthetic, he told me I told him standard which is not true, he never asked. Worst experience so far in 4 years! Reconsidering coming back if this is how they treat a loyal customer. Roberto has no personal communication skills. read more
