I took my 2018 Honda CRV in for an assessment after feeling some pulsing when I stepped on the brakes. It was very easy to schedule a same day appointment online. They were personable, professional and welcoming when I walked through the door and explained how the process would work. The pricing was very reasonable. After the initial assessment and explaining my options. I went next door and ate while they worked on my car. One hour later, everything was complete. I was so satisfied with their service, I tried to leave a tip which was refused. They were great! I would definitely return for other services. We have been coming to this Brakes Plus for about 5 years now. They always get us in pretty quickly , they are always super informative and helpful even when it's not the best news. I appreciate the options they provide and the men that answer are always nice and don't talk to me like I'm dumb or mansplain anything which I appreciate. I have also have sent their recommendations/diagnostic report to a relative out of state who is a mechanic that we trust to make sure we are not being up charged or taken advantage of & he always agrees with what they recommend! The man I spoke to on the phone (Michael?) was very kind and fit me in very quickly. I was experiencing a squeaking and scraping sound when I hit my brakes so I figured I just needed my brake pads and rotors replaced. When I arrived, the man at the front desk was incredibly rude, cut my off multiple times while I was speaking, and overall treated me like I was I stupid or what I was saying held no value. Very unprofessional. They pulled my car around and the man I spoke to on the phone came out and gave me a basic run down, said they were going to inspect everything, etc. The told me it would take about 45 mins for the inspection. I decided to walk around the shopping center and got some boba and food. While I was eating my sushi, I got a call from Brakes Plus. They explained that there was a problem with removing my wheels, and wanted to charge me approx. $6 for every lug nut they needed to replace, adding up to about $75 extra. I immediately called bullcrap. I called a friend of mine to confirm they were ripping me off and he did. I walked back over and asked to see the lug nuts. They of course got all nervous as I walked back to my vehicle, which was suspended in the air with three wheels already off of it. They told me my key (locking lugnuts) was not working and they were unable to remove the last wheel, nor were they able to put my original nuts back on. I, of course, told them that I do not feel comfortable with them continuing to work on my vehicle, and that I would like to leave. I told them I felt discriminated against due to my gender and would rather take my business elsewhere. They said "Okay" and apologized, but still tried to sell me the lug nuts. After negotiating with another team member (who was actually nice) he agreed to comp the charge for the lug nuts. Now, you may be asking, "Why would she not pay for them?" Well, that's because they stripped my key AND my lugnuts rendering them unusable, and then tried to make ME pay for their mistake. I drive away feeling happy that I stood up for myself. Only, I hear a loud click and banging sound when I'm turning into a shopping center around 3 minutes down Warner. I immediately park and look into the street, and notice a bolt of some kind. I pick it up and lo and behold, it was my freaking caliper bolt. I assume they tried to remove them because my wheel wasn't coming off and they forgot to tighten it back. I am forced to return to said horror house and have them tighten it back. They told me what the problem was, and I was correct! Yay! They did not charge me for fixing it, but DID once again try to blame me for the problem, saying it was probably already loose when I came in (yeah right). These people are DEFINITELY predatory towards people who they believe know nothing about cars. Avoid at all costs, especially if you're a woman. This all took place a couple of months ago. Scam don't schedule with these people called to schedule an appointment spoke to mike informed him I was scheduling based on their advertising prices. When I scheduled the appointment, I gave them the year make and model of my vehicle. Once we got to the store and waited an hour and a half then told the price was going to be significantly more than advertised. I asked to speak to a manager and was told would be available for a few weeks. Due to him being on vacation. sounds very suspicious to me. save your money and go somewhere else. read more

So I already left a review when I picked my truck up and I feel I need to write an additional review. I bought this Dodge 1500 SST for 1000$ at a salvage yard aboot 6 months ago , after a few weekends in vari junk yards the truck has seats, ,power windows and runs amazing. last week on my way home(I commute to phx from Gilbert every day in it) getting off the freeway my brake pedal went to the floor!! I was able to limp it home coasting into most stop lights tha goodness. I called Big O and was quoted 1200$ for replaci my rear brake cylinders and pads n drums. My rating is based on the upfront service. They were pleasant, told me I could wait for the estimate about 30 minutes, maybe an hour. I said I'd leave the vehicle and the nice guy said he'd call me back "in an hour or so". 3-1/2 hours later no call so I went back and the car hadn't been moved. When I said what happened to an hour and a call back estimate, he didn't have much of an answer. Can't speak to their work but in my experience, when a company doesn't honor their initial commitment, their work and quality isn't any different. I'll take the vehicle somewhere else. Has more problems after getting repaired. With my hybrid I went in for minor issues, (I mentioned I got it checked elsewhere and it needs new serpentine belt) but they said I needed a lot done for my brakes and new front arm control. Expensive but I did it. Month later, battery and ac problem... sure enough I needed serpentine belt replaced with tensioner. Ok did it. But they warned me it's probably going to have more problems but they don't know because they don't have experience with hybrids. (Could have told me to begin with, I would have gone elsewhere!!) Now a week later, car stalls on the road, over heats, brakes squeak, smoke under the hood, but I'm not going back. read more

Nick called me back right away to confirm. i asked if they could move it up and they were able to accommodate me 2 hours earlier. Nick was friendly and amazing from the start, on the phone and in person when i arrived...James inspected my brakes. He said they were still in great shape, even though i had been hearing something strange... he even explained to me what he was looking at and assured me they were still in good shape... i've had some bad experiences before with estimates, but i'm sold on these guys. i walked out without paying a cent. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM! BEWARE IF YOU'RE A FEMALE!!!!! My family has been going to Brakes Plus on Cooper & Warner for YEARS. I went in for an oil change and they called to tell me my brakes were no good. They told me that they would call me back with an estimate, which was $414. I called back 20 minutes later to tell them to stop as I talked to 2 different mechanics and said I was getting screwed. When I called back, and asked him to stop, he said they already started and left an awkward silence. Not knowing anything about cars, I said if they can't stop there's nothing I can do. When I got to the shop I talked to the GM. He was very nice until he knew that it was me coming for the car. He immediately started speaking down to me, telling me how an angry man called and started cussing him out. I asked him if I have a choice and what I should do when I say to stop. He said that I ALWAYS have a choice to say stop. So when I told him I asked him to stop, he told me I didn't. I informed him that I did and he said that they were already in the process of cutting the rotor so there they couldn't stop and put it back together. The mechanics I talked to, said that I was being screwed because I'm a female. My mother in law called the store to see who the manager was and the person said he was the service manager. She asked who the general manager was, and he told her Sean. She then asked who his boss is, and asked for the managers name and phone number. She was put on hold and Sean came on and asked how to help her. She said she would wait for Dan (the service manager). Dan came back on and wouldn't give her the number. He said everything could be found online. I also asked for the brake pads so my husbands mechanic can look at them because on the phone I was told that the brake pads were at 3mm but when I got in, suddenly there were at 2mm and it was dire. The GM also said that he doesn't know how I would find anywhere that would charge less for brakes. I feel that as a lady, I was being spoke down to while in the store. My sister in law was there with me and she felt the same way. She didn't like the way I was being spoken too. When my husband called the store to talk to him, the GM caught an attitude with him so things got heated and instead of trying to talk to him, he hung up on him. I don't think that's very professional of a GM. I, 100% think that I got screwed because I am a female. The mechanic I normally go to wasn't open, and as I'm going on a last minute road trip, it needed to be done today. I learned my lesson and will NEVER take my car there again. (Brakes Plus on Cooper & Warner). If you are a female and know nothing about cars, do not come here! I would recommend going to Jaime @ New Dimensions on Recker and McDowell. Went in for an oil change today and didn't really have any issues. I drive for Uber and my car usually needs an oil change about every 1-2 months and I felt their price for fully synthetic oil was reasonable. Previously, I have brought it to Jiffy Lube who wants around $80 for full synthetic and Just Brakes (now Pep Boys) who wants like $75. Brakes Plus charges $55.99 but they have a $7 off coupon on their website, bringing it down to $48.99 plus some extra fees, which are typical. When they began to work on my car, I received a phone call stating that the brake reservoir was low and they recommended a flush of the system...for $49.99. I felt that was reasonable so I told them to go ahead with it. They also stated that I needed new struts and shocks and that these should be replaced every 50,000 miles. Ummmm....really? That didn't sound right to me. Again, I bring this car in every month to 2 months and have never heard a repair shop tell me that. They also wanted like over $600 to do this plus $67 for an alignment. I told them no...but i didn't get upset because they're just doing their job. I don't understand why people get so upset when they try to recommend services...if you don't want the service, just say no. I don't think they're trying to scam people or anything like that. For the most part everything was good...except the repair people got a considerable amount of dirt inside my vehicle...this is a problem amongst a lot of places. The interior of my car is an awful beige color and it shows every speck of dirt (time to get seat covers) and being a ride share driver, I try keep the thing immaculate. I spent about an hour at the carwash in the hot hot heat cleaning the dang thing. Also, this location doesn't offer any sort of discount for ride share drivers, wish they did. read more

The communication at this location is basically nonexistent. I showed up for my appointment at 2 for a brake pad replacement. I made it clear I would be waiting here while the repairs happened. Not once did anyone offer a time estimate. After 3 hours of waiting, I asked if my car would be done by the time they closed today and they assured me it would be. Only after telling me the initial brake pads they were trying to use weren't for the correct trim of my car. If they would have asked when I gave the rest of my information this situation probably could have been avoided. If I was informed that it was going to take that long, I would have made other arrangements so I didn't spend my entire afternoon in the waiting room. All in all I wouldn't return to this location nor would I recommend it to anyone. read more

Took my jeep in because I thought I was leaking brake fluid. They were able to fit me in on a booked out day, turns out my brakes were fine and they diagnosed it as being my differential overflowing from being over filled. They recommend changing strouts something related to that @ little over $900 & not knowing what it is or how much, I just assumed it need to be done because it was making little squeeky noise. The staff & manager was super friendly for a car shop...lol Few days later, I still felt there's something wrong. I took it yo my usual go to shop & the owner was very upset I replaced brand name strout for piece of junk & paid over $900 when it should have been roughly $380 with labor & all. The owner looked at it & replaced some things & adjust whatever then called to let me know what he did. I was very happy he was able to fix the problem & not charged me for his work & time. I spoke with Mike on the phone and asked for a ballpark price to compare with other companies. He told me he couldn't, so I gave him my car make and model. He said he'd have to "verify" that when I got there, as if I don't know what car I drive...? And still refused to give be an estimate on the price. I have always had good service with brakes plus from Arizona to Colorado and felt that they were trustworthy until now. The business in San Tan Valley has totally changed that for me. I took my expedition in on the on the 8th of August for a brake problem of which I explained that the pedal was kicking back and it was affecting stopping power. They called me the next day and said it was ready to go and the problem was the speed sensors. I drove the 8 miles home with no problem, parked it went to work the next day. It is 9 miles to my and I made it safely. When I left work to start my route i thought things were fine till I came to the first stop sign. When I started applying the brakes the pedal kicked back up and then nothing. I had to swerve to over the curb to avoid hitting the car at the intersection. I the vehicle towed back to the San Shop where they had it for two days. When the shop manager called and said they had road tested it and couldn't find anything wrong I said okay and picked it up. On the 8 mile drive home at each of the intersections (2) the pedal again kicked back and when I stopped at the house it also pulled to the right and the grinding noise was louder. They want me take it back and test drive it with one of the techs. Does that mean they didn't test drive or just don't know how. I am out $537 for a brake repair that wasn't done correctly and a vehicle that I can't use until I take it somewhere else to have it repaired right. So if if you plan on taking your vehicle to Brakes Plus in San Tan Valley, Az, consider this a warning and go to a different shop. read more

I took my car in to be checked since it sounded like metal was rubbing against metal. When I initially got a quote, they said I needed to have all 4 rotors and brake pads replace and quoted me $750. When I told them no, they reduced it down to $557 dollars since they would add a coupon. I told them another place quoted me $420 and the guy said he would match it. I told him I felt it was really sketchy that he all of a sudden was able to reduce the price by $330. He explained that he was able to reduce the price since he was offering me the basic package. I still told him no and brought it to my brother-in-law to check it since he's a mechanic. My brother-in-law confirmed I just needed one rotor replaced (not four) and my rear brake pads replaced (not all four). My brother in law was able to complete it all for less than half of what they were trying to charge me. Please confirm the work they're doing on your vehicle actually needs to be completed or they'll probably try to screw you over too. I'll never go to Brake Plus in Gilbert, AZ (Cooper Rd & Warner Rd location) ever again. read more

Got an oil change for the first time there, I get my truck back and there was a good size scratch on the hood. Spoke to the manager and all he kept saying it wasn't their fault. I advised him I did not have ANY scratches on my truck. When I ask the manager to take some responsibility he replies back that he can look through the camera but might take 2-3 weeks to get to. Very unprofessional, rude. Definitely will not be taking my truck there again. Advised him no wonder you guys have such poor reviews, manager laughs and walks back in the store. I was VERY hesitant to bring my car here, but I remembered that I brought it in once before and you were honest about my brakes. SO----despite all the bad reviews I had great service here. Again they were honest with me, told me just the front brake pads needed to be changed, the back ones still had 20,000 + to go yet..........they easily could of told me they both needed to be changed and hardware etc, but they didn't. Brakes and oil change and done on a busy Saturday afternoon...........AWESOME. I have no complaints about Brakes plus, I've had nothing but good service and honesty here. read more

I brought my Isuzu Rodeo into this location of Brakes Plus during the first week of January 2010 because I received a coupon in the mail and had heard the radio commercials. Everything started off great. I was greeted by a nice guy named Kenny. I explained to him that I heard some squeaking and minor grinding when I slowed and asked him to check my brakes. I told him that I had just had one set replaced within the previous 6 months by Big-O but couldn't recall which set. I left the car and went to the movies with my wife. About 2 hours later Kenny called and told me that I needed to replace front and back brakes and that my shocks where shot and needed to be replaced. By this time I had already run home (prior to the movie) and checked my Big-O receipt to see which set had been replaced. It was the front brakes, in June 2009. So when he told me both needed to be replaced I again told him they had just been replaced within the past 6 months. He said the pads were completely cracked and that he was authorized by his manager to do a core trade-in which would save me $20-30 if I wanted to just avoiding having to deal with Big-O and have Brakes Plus replace the brakes. At this point I had no reason to distrust Kenny so I was completely livid with Big-O. I chose not to replace the front brakes because I wanted to take the car back to Big-O, slam my keys on the counter and yell WTF!! I did choose to have the back brakes replaced but passed on the shocks because it wasnt in the budget. Brakes Plus finished with the car at nearly 5pm (I dropped it off at 10am) and I drove straight to Big-O. After a brief unpleasant exchange with the store manager they pulled my Rodeo into the shop immediately and with me standing right there pulled the wheels off and extracted the brake pads. Nothing. The brake pads were in great shape. No cracks, no unusual wear. Nothing. I was so embarrassed I wanted to crawl under a rock and hide. At that point I asked them to inspect my shocks. They were fine. Told me I probably had another 10-15K miles left on them. Argg! Did I really even need back brakes? I have no idea. Either way, this is a customers greatest fear when their car needs work, being taken advantage of by the mechanic. The behavior is unethical and unprofessional. I'm still trying to decide whether I should contact the Better Business Bureau or not. If you need brakes, take your car any place else but Brakes Plus. read more
