My fiancé unfortunately chose another local shop that offered many false promise as well as almost destroyed my beautiful Mustang GT. It is a 2016 and we did not have any issues with it over the years. However in August 2022 it overheated from a radiator issue. It was so bad the head gasket became damaged. The other shop simply did not know how to properly repair a mustang. I was devastated and then did my research for competent shop. I took my Mustang GT to Gene and Pete, and they completely saved the day. I took my Mustang elsewhere inititially to a shop (rhymes with Appa on McQueen ave), and they completely screwed me over. Long story short, I had a blown head gasket and decided it was time to make some upgrades. Ordered a set of cams and some intake parts to replace stock; two months and 13 cam timing codes later, I had the car towed from that shop to Car Guys new location. The immediately dug into the engine and found exactly where the other shop went wrong. They took the time to walk me through and explain everything that was diagnosed through their troubleshooting process. They retimed my cams and the engine runs like a top. Cool little mom and pop shop in Chandler! I bought a Groupon for an alignment here and my car drives like a dream now. The service was both friendly and professional. They let me drop my car off early and called me when it was finished When I went to check in to the business I noticed they had 4.5 stars on Yelp and really only 1 bad review, which appears to have been written by a guy who doesn't know how alignments work. Even the larger chains charge extra for camber adjustments...it's a known thing. I'll definitely be back to this place...I like to support the small businesses over the larger chains. Plus, the prices are reasonable. I believe the normal price for an alignment is $79.99. The Toyota dealer wanted $99.99 and most places are $89.99. read more

I just wanted to give an update since I have now been to Car Guy several times since my first oil change visits. The customer service is great! On one visit, my 2009 VW Routan (yes, I drive a minivan) started smoking at a light on a Sunday just an hour before Car Guy was closing. I called them up and they said they would come back to accept my vehicle if they were closed when the tow truck arrived. The owner was very accommodating and let me keep my vehicle locked up behind her gate (guarded by a big dog and behind barbed wire because, yes, this is a sketchy part of town). After looking at my vehicle, they told me it was a hose that needed replacing. Unfortunately, the entire radiator had to be removed to access it and replace it. However, they are really fair there with their labor prices. So, it was not as bad a repair bill as it would have been elsewhere. I have also had my door locks fixed after the driver's side door lock stopped working. My parents even got a much lower quote on an a/c issue for their truck. Sure, this place is not in the suburbs. Does it really need to be? As long as my car gets fixed without being raked over the coals, I am fine with it. As far as the recent 1 star reviews, I recommend reading the owner responses to those. It seems in both cases the reviews are not a fair reflection of the actual work and service provided by the business. I drive to Car Guy all the way from Ahwatukee Foothills to get my car repaired and for all my oil changes. Doesn't that say something about this business? It should! Stopped in today for an oil change.... was pleasantly surprised at the Waiting Area....nice and dim, since there was enough window light, comfortable leather couch and a nice sized tv. A LOT different than the usual flourescent lights, cheap chairs and 9 inch tv that most shops offer.... The two chaps I encountered....one was the owner...were both really friendly and chatty! Mom is also an employee...can see where he got his kindness and gift of gab from! I very much appreciated that he told me he printed up a list of Sugested Fluid Flushes....THEN just simply handed it to me!! Didn't try to sell it to me or pressure me to opt for it!! I just picked up my 14 Mustang GT from Gene at Car Guy LLC. They installed a set of longtube headers and H-pipe that i failed to do in my garage on jack stands. When i called Gene i let him know that in the last 20 years of working on and building my own cars, that this was the first time i was paying a shop to touch my car and that i was very nervous about the whole situation. Gene assured me that my car and parts were in good hands, and that he really appreciates the opportunity. I dropped the car off on monday night. Gene and his team worked on the car all day tuesday, wed morning they called me to let me know it was ready to be picked up. Gene had excellent communication the entire time. When i arrived to pickup the car Gene was nice enough to let me see under the car and inspect the work performed. I was very happy to see that they put in the same attention to detail i would have put in if i were able to do this job myself. No stripped bolts, no misaligned flanges, all wiring was nice and neat. Everything looked as it did from the factory except for the addition of the headers and H pipe. They even performed an idle relearn and a heat cycle before i arrived to ensure everything was perfect. I would not hesitate to refer Car Guy LLC to anyone, and i plan to use them again in the future for my flywheel/clutch install. I got a groupon to come here and get an alignment. I came in one day for an appointment and after a while they come and tell me my bushings are too worn for the alignment, that's annoying but fine. I replaced the bushings and came back for another appointment and they told me my car was too low for the alignment machine. I understand because my car is lowered it may not fit on the lift/machine, but how could they not know this the first time? I used to live in AZ and just had a friend move to Chandler. They asked if I knew a mechanic and I realized I never wrote a review for my favorite mechanics! So let me tell you the story of the lemon and the awesome mechanics. In 2009 I had been without a car for about a year and a client of my dad's offered me a good deal on his hyundai accent. Well I got a good price because the car was total crap. I immediately had problems with it. Being a girl that knows nothing about cars, and always worried about getting hosed by shady mechanics that see me as an easy target, I found a place close to my work and brought my boss with me. First of all everyone I talked to was super nice. Nobody talked down to me for being a clueless girl. They addressed me instead of my friend and when I asked what I assumed to be stupid questions they happily answered me. Upon looking at my car we quickly realized what a mistake I made. The car was a mess. Most of my motor mounts were broken, parts were held in with baling wire and in some places duct tape, the ac compressor was crap, and instead of replacing things the owner just macguyvered his own makeshift parts with things meant for other vehicles. The guys at the shop showed me the problems but told me most didn't need to be immediately fixed. Just the ac compressor. Well since the bone head who owned the car before had made his own parts to make a part fit that wasn't made for my car it looked like I had to replace multiple things. Great. But the guys said they could try and fabricate the replacement part and save me from having to do it all. I said yes! They didn't charge me much for labor and they didn't have my car for long. And it worked! For a bit. Actually only a few days. But when I called they had me bring it back and fixed it for free! If only it were that simple. I continued to have problems with my super lemon (through no fault of theirs) and they continued to help me. They were pretty much on my speed dial. Eventually I decided to cut my loses and get a different car. When I told them not to worry about it and that it was dead to me they agreed it was probably the best decision and suggested I get a Honda next since they are cheaper to repair. (and I did!) a few days later I got a call from one of the employees offering to buy my car for parts and asked how much I wanted for it. Thinking it wasn't worth anything I threw out a low number. He said it was worth more than that and offered me more! I conferred with my dad and we agreed. In the end they had only charged me a couple hundred dollars for all the work they did. Labor alone should have been more but they were great! And after selling my car that piece of crap didn't really cost me anything but a little dignity and time. I know I spoke with Gene a lot and I wish I could remember the other gentleman but they were all great! If I was still living in Arizona I would definitely go there still. I love that it is a family affair and I love being able to support a great small business! read more

Overall I'm pretty impressed with the service from car guy. As with many relationships and as I'll constantly state communication can be the downfall in any relationship. I feel like my encounter with car guy involved some rather peculiar situations, but nothing that wasn't managed. Car guy was the third mechanic taking my recently purchased aged BMW to which by this point made me feel hopeless. After dealing with multiple other horrible mechanic businessman, I felt safe trusting car guy with my situation. I feel like their prices are fair, but when you're looking at major overhaul of the vehicle nothing seems fair. They were willing to make my situation agreejus and simple despite that lengthy time it Took for repair. I feel like every team member that I spoke with was honest and forthcoming and truly was going to do their best given the situation at hand. Their knowledge is expansive. My only criticism would be on timeliness and communication. I feel lake there needed to be better communication on my expectation versus results given, possibly a flaw on both ends. I'll be back and better prepared, no flaw that I can't talk partial ownership for. These guys are worth a try trusting. read more

This car is my baby and I don't allow just anyone to work on it. This was a new experience working with Gene at CG of Chandler. I just wanted to say that I am so glad I chose them. I have been to a lot of shops in the valley but this one truly treats you like a friend and it is family-owned and operated which is probably why it runs so well. My wife found this shop in Chandler and we've gone back several times. We needed a brake job on our Ford Expedition. Brake masters told us we need new pads and rotors on all four wheels. We took it to Car Guys and they put new pads on the front and turned the rotors. They didn't try to sell us anything we didn't need. I trust them and so does my wife. If you're getting a better deal somewhere else, chances are there's a catch and they'll tell you what it is if you give them enough detail. They don't mark their prices way skyhigh, and they don't give you such a deal that you're questioning what parts or labor they skimped on to make it so cheap. I found this place through Groupon, I should have known what I was getting into when I saw the price, $40 for an alignment seemed to good to be true, and it was. I went to this shop near the end of February 2017. I wanted to get an alignment because I had noticed a pulsating grinding noise that increased in frequency with speed. After an hour or so, they finished the "alignment". They showed me a sheet of paper with the a list of the alignment values and the ideal value range, I noticed that the camber values were way off. I asked them why they didn't align those values for me, they said they didn't have the tools or supplies to align the camber. I asked them if they could order the camber kit they needed and just finish the alignment then. They said they could order the part, which they wanted around $100 for, but I would have to pay for another alignment in addition to the overpriced part despite having already payed for their "alignment" this time. So they told me if I actually wanted a real alignment, I would be charged around $180, on top of what I had already payed them. I should note that, they didn't tell me any of this until after I had payed them. Seeing that they didn't actually finish their "alignment", I asked if I could have a refund or at least a prorated price as they left a lot of the alignment unfinished. They said that it wasn't their fault that they didn't have the supplies or equipment to fully "align" my wheels and continually claimed that they, "aligned it to the best of the shops abilities". I'm a college student so, I don't really have the money to pay for the same service multiple times so, I didnt. Moral of the story, any future buyers of wheel alignment packages from this shop should no that, they arent paying for an alignment, they are paying for an "alignment to the best of their abilities" which apparently increases depending on the amount of money they get from you. ------UPDATE------ Today, April 29, 2017, I got my oil changed at Midas. The technicians said they couldn't rotate my tires because there was uneven wear on the front left tire due to bad alignment. I told them I just had the tires aligned less than to months ago. They said who ever did the alignment did a horrible job, and I'll probably have to get new tires soon because of it. Like I said earlier, I'm a college student so, I can't really afford to be paying for alignments multiple times in a row or buying new tires because of a improper alignment. read more

After seeing great reviews and seeing a mustang on the car lift I decided to give car guy a try. I was having trouble with my mustang and had an idea of what the problem was. I wish I could remember the guys name but he's one of the owners I believe. He was a mustang guy and was very knowledgeable. There was a diagnostics charge of 90 dollars plus whatever it was to fix the issue. I didn't like the charge but I went with it. He came back within 40 min and adjusted the tps timing and fix the issue. To my surprise he said it would only be the diagnostic fee. He showed me around the shop and I left happy. I would definitively recommend this guy for one major reason he was honest. read more

I normally don't take my car into a shop unless I have no other option because I just don't trust most shops and they are looking out of themselves not the customer. Pete and his whole team genuinely cared about customer satisfaction and just was such a pleasure to work with. They have my business for as long as I'm able to bring a car around. This is the shop to go to without a doubt. Pete could have charged me 900+ to put a new rack in like I asked him to but instead he took the time to look at what was really wrong (I DIYed some inner tie rods and didn't secure them tightly enough) and just charged me for a simple inspection! It's not everyday that you go in an auto shop and come out paying 10x less than what your expecting. Over the past 6 years or so, The Car Guy has become my "go-to" place for honest, dependable auto repairs. They charge a fair labor rate and are always sure to explain what they find, what the options are, what the cost will be, how long it will take, etc. Gene takes great care to treat everybody with respect and courtesy, even when I have seen a customer get upset (actually, they seemed pretty upset as soon as they came in the door). They also do a lot of custom fabrication work there. When my wife's car was in last week for some diagnosis and repair, Wes called me to say he did not think they would be finished by closing time, and wanted to know if that would cause a problem. In fact, it would have caused a significant problem, so he cheerfully said he would complete the repair before he went home, and leave the car out front for us to pick up. Just as simple as that; no having to bargain with him or anything. When an employee is willing to give up family/personal time on a Saturday evening just to satisfy a customer, that says a lot about how employees are treated. I am always VERY hesitant on trusting repair shops and usually just take my cars to the dealership but I gave these guys a chance and they did not disappoint! From the time I dropped off my vehicle to the time I picked it up, every person, including the owner was extremely nice and trustworthy. Thanks to Gene and his family they really helped my parents out of bind. My mom took her car into Jiffy Lube and they of course told her that the serpentine belt needed to be replaced. Well, somehow they managed to break to ground wire when replacing the belt leaving my mom without A/C on a 96 degree day. So, off to the Nissan dealer they went to get it fixed. Nissan quoted them $1100 and explained the compressor needed to be replaced, even though you could clearly see the broken ground wire. I told my parents to lave the Nissan dealer and go see the Car Guy for an honest answer. They were not open on the weekend but Gene still answered the phone and provided them some piece of mind (on his day off), letting them know he would get it fixed when they opened on Monday. Long story short the Car Guy fixed my mom's car by 2pm and saved my parents $800. Thank you Gene .. having someone honest in the car repair business is truly a godsend! read more

Had another shop leave a piece out of my front end after the Last alignment. It killed a $500 set of tires. The guys at Car Guys fixed everything and had to do 3 alignments, mounted an balanced the new tires and replaced the parts that were missing for less than the first shop charged for the bad alignment. I did some mods to my car that required a custom EGR pipe to be created, and I only had a few days to get the car through emissions. Gene went through all the different options with me before starting any work. He was able to get the custom EGR pipe created and installed the same day, and even contacted me the next day to make sure I was able to pass emissions. Excellent customer service. I declined so I could do my own troubleshooting. When I asked the Car Guy for a quote, not only did he put it on the lift he invited me in the back so we could take a look at it.
