I took my car in for a routine oil change and tire rotation. Pretty basic stuff for car maintenance, pricing was good and given back to me right at the promised time. After paying and walking out to get in my car i notice one of the my car's rim cover is missing. After going back into the store to speak with Vince, he definitely tried to play it off as if i didn't have it when i came in the first place when i know for a fact that it had it on, those things don't just "pop" off easily from hitting a bump or pot hole. So after arguing Vince goes to the back to check and sure enough comes out with it and they had broken off 2/4 of the clips so couldn't stay on. They promised to order me a replacement part, thankfully. It wouldn't have been such an issue if they would've just told me what they had accidentally done because i'm sure it wasn't on purpose. Cmon now its terrible that they would do this, and especially try to play it off. After trying to get some sort of proof that they were gonna order me the part (which they were very reluctant to give when i asked) he asked i take his word for it. Dangerous? If I could give it minus 5 stars I would. This used to be a very good shop. Very good. I went there for years. But, they've lost my business because, as it turns out, they didn't catch a problem recently (fixed by another shop) that left my car marginally dangerous to drive. They actually tried to charge me another $200 on top of the nearly $400 they charged 2+ months ago, something they should have known about there and then. And get this, I didn't get so much as an "I'm sorry!" The truth is, the last few times I've taken the car there, it ended up needing more work a few months later. Is it coincidence? Is it just bad luck? Who knows. I'm just not taking my chances anymore. Ignore the coupons for a cheap oil change. Avoid this place at all costs. There are too many other shops in town who charge the same and whose work is always done right the first time (good example, Jeno's, which is north on Bowles between Platte Canyon and Federal. AAA-rated, with a 10% discount for a AAA card. Another good one nearby, also on Bowles (north side of the street) between Simms and C-470, is DRC Automotive repair. Also AAA rated. The coupon puts the oil change at $25, with a 32-point inspection, check and fill fluids, rotate the tires, and bronze-level car wash. The only drawback is the 32-point inspection can take up to five hours. But, at least you know the car's overall condition when you walk out. All in all, ignore this Brakes Plus. They don't give a s#$%. Nor should you. That said, I forgive them. Apparently their service ethic is catching up, because when I dropped the car off in the morning, there wasn't another car in the lot. This is unusual to say the least. read more

It felt like a scene from a movie where someone gets stranded in the middle of nowhere and is at the mercy of some in-bread town folk who charge whatever they feel like for the repair. Initially we were told that we most likely needed a new battery, which was fine. Shortly thereafter the bill was almost $400: $104 for a battery, $23 for a diagnostics test, $75 for more diagnostics, $182 for 4 spark plugs (!!!), ... Then they wanted to push more stuff down our throats like "You really need to invest in another $70 for a fuel injector flush, etc." ... Really??? I took my van in and they were nice enough to get it done later in the day! But when I picked it up I noticed there wasn't an oil change sticker but I just figured they forgot! I get a call this morning saying their technician had to leave and my van ended up in another technicians hands and they forgot the oil change! I also noticed when I got the van back it wasn't running like it was before I dropped it off! The idle is not right now and when you go to push the gas it bogs out! They offered a free oil change so I appreciate that but the fact is my van is not running like it was prior to taking it to them! read more

I've gone in twice, and am impressed by the work, the service, and the pricing both times. They're friendly, and they finish the work inside the the estimated timeframe. The first time I went in was to get new breaks. I had gone to H1 Honest just down the street for an oil change a few months prior (first time there), and expressed I thought my breaks were ready to be replaced. They charged on the high end for my oil change, and told me the breaks were fine, but the "boots" were leaking and should be replaced soon. They made me a quote for this work, which ended up being over $900. I opted against it. Eventually my gut won over and I was sure I needed new breaks. I went to Breaks Plus. Turned out my break pads and roters (sp?) were toast and all needed to be replaced. So much for H1 "Honest." The total to do this was about $640. So much less than what H1 Honest quoted for the boots, which weren't even the issue. As well, Breaks Plus gave me a ride home and picked me up when the job was finished (I live about 5 minutes away). These guys are amazing, and I would recommend to anyone to go Breaks Plus Littleton for any breaks needs, etc. read more

Had some pretty severe grinding noises coming from my car- so I called them around 2:15pm on a Friday and they told me to bring it in ASAP. I dropped it off at 2:30 and they told me a.) there was no charge for the inspection and b.) they would call me around 5 to update me on what they found. Sure enough, I got a call before 5 and a thorough explanation and cost breakdown of what was needed. I went ahead with the repairs and my car was COMPLETELY FIXED AND RUNNING LIKE NEW before 6:30pm that same night. I can't say enough good things about this location. This was my first time using Brakes Plus. My car is old and always seems to need fixing and I've been unhappy with several other places I've had work done. I was really impressed with the service I received here from the first call where I made an appointment to when I picked my car up. Everything that I had done was thoroughly explained to me and the price for each was clear. I also called in the middle of the appointment to have new wiper blades added and my options were explained to me and completed by pick up. Being young and female, car maintenance can often feel very intimidating but I never felt taken advantage of and my new brakes make my drive so much better. Brakes Plus is a botch shop for anything other than basic auto service. I had my power steering (pump, hoses and clamps) TWICE. Within a few months both times it was spewing, screeching, and leaking again. They offered to replace a hose (3rd repair). My power steering returned to its broken state within a week. I took my poor Subaru to an awesome mechanic who discovered that not only had they jacked my drive train belt all the way up, but also used the complete wrong hose for my car's power steering. Brakes plus is so proud of their botch jobs, they offer no solution but to "try again". Yeah no thanks Brakes Plus. Take your vehicle to reputable mechanics who take pride in their work. If you are a manger and reading this please make it right. You owe me money for the incorrect hoses that broke 3 times. read more

I took my vehicle here before reading any reviews on yelp so I wasn't sure what to expect. I own a 1968 Ford Mustang so it has drum brakes on all four wheels. I took the Mustang there because it was pulling dramatically to the right. After a day or so I got a phone call advising me that I would have to replace the following items to correct the problem: upper ball joints, lower control arm, idler arm, power steering assembly and outer tie rod ends for a grand total of $1722.93. The Brakes Plus guy on the phone advised that he would recommend changing these parts immediately because driving it could be unsafe. I told him to go ahead and do the work. I got the vehicle back and it seemed to be working again. One week into driving it the Mustang began pulling to the right dramatically again. At that moment I thought "ARE YOU KIDDING ME!" I went back to Brakes Plus and explained that I was upset I had just paid $1722.93 and he was cooperative and explained he totally understood why I was upset. He told me they would look at the vehicle to determine what the problem was. I waited a couple of days and hadn't got a phone call so I called them. I talked with the mechanic who was inspecting the vehicle and he told me that he was still trying to figure out what the problem was. I waited another couple of days and called again. The mechanic advised that he had corrected 90% of the problem and it was only slightly drifting to the right. I finally was able to pick up my vehicle after being in the shop for a week. The replacement this time was changing the wheel cylinder front assembly for a total of $79.90. The manager comped this entirely. I would say they really worked with me, but it's not a shop I would discourage people from going to for minor work but it it's major stuff you might want to consider a specialist for your type of vehicle. read more

If I could give them zero stars, I would. These guys saw a girl walk in by herself and tried to take her to the cleaners. Classic repair shop b.s. I went in for an alignment, it went from that to needing to get my tie rods replaced. The charge for that would be $550!!! Now what they don't know is I'm not stupid when it comes to things like this. The part itself, for a kit is $60. Super easy to do so the labor would/should be about .5 hours plus an alignment at $58. I'm also fairly good at simple math...They were going to charge me $430 for labor?!?!?! I will NEVER recommend anyone go there EVER! You hope that in this day and age, crap like this wouldn't happen as often.... read more

I accidentally deleted part of my review when editing it, so let me recap this story to the best of my memory. My Civic was making a horrible grinding sound so I decided to take it to a nearby Brakes specialist instead of risking the drive to my usual mechanic closer to work. What I expected to be a simple matter of brakes or suspension repair, turned into a bigger and very unnecessary ordeal. They looked at my car for 45 minutes and came back with a list of almost $1800 of "recommended and needed repair"!! Bull. Some of it wasn't needed at all. These clowns will waste your time and money by nit-picking over every little wire and bolt that is not in pristine condition and then making it all seem like my car is being neglected. I was blatantly being nickeled-and-dimed. So, I don't get it. I really don't. In this economy, don't try to charge someone for every little bolt and wire that you find in less that pristine condition. And my other suggestion is that when you bring a customer list that adds up to almost $1800 and I ask about a discount, don't throw me coupon book with $50 in savings. Just for the record, I had Brake's Plus repair less than half of what they suggested. I should not have had them repair anything to be honest but I was already missing a couple of hours of work. I will probably have my other mechanic up north look it over to be sure they did the work properly and I will never, ever go back to another automotive chain like this again. Sad. read more

If this web site allowed negative ratings, the Brakes Plus store on S. Kipling in Littleton would get one from me. This used to be a very good shop; we took all of our family cars there for years. But, they have new management and mechanics now. Their work and integrity has gone way down. They've lost my trust as well as my business (and my families!). Here's what happened and why you shouldn't go there either. In March 2012 during a routine oil change (they entice you to come in with oil-change coupons) they noted that I still had the original struts on my 1999 Chrysler 300M and that I would get a smoother ride if I replaced them. I had known that the struts were originals for years but had put it off in part because the cost was exorbitant ($980 for the front and rear struts) and two, the ride of the car really wasn't noticeably bad. I decided to get it done at this time, however, because I had some extra funds. Keep in mind now that the ride of the car really wasn't noticeably bad at all and that there were no other extraneous sounds or problems with the car. Immediately after picking up the car I noticed a creaking / clunking sound in the front end that I had never heard before. The sound / noise manifested itself intermittently, however, and only when braking either in forward or reverse. It sounded and felt to me as though it was the brake caliper shifting and causing the sound. I brought the car into the shop a couple of weeks later to have them fix whatever they had done to cause the problem. They checked the car over and couldn't figure out what the problem was; they said that everything was tight and nothing needed repair or replacement. After this second time at the shop the creaking / clunking sound in the front end continued. I waited a few more weeks and took the car in again to have them fix the problem they had created back in March. This time they said that the right inner and outer tie-rod ends should be replaced (cost $485). So, they replaced the tie-rod ends. Once again, I noted after picking the car up that the creaking / clunking sound in the front end persisted. A few more weeks later I took the car in for a fourth time to have them fix the creaking / clunking sound in the front end that they had created. The car was also pulling to the right by now and needed re-alignment. Once again, they said that they weren't sure what was causing the sound but that the front strut rod bushings and the control arms needed replacement and might be the problem (cost, $580). I reluctantly agreed to have the recommended repairs done, sensing more and more that this Brakes Plus didn't have a clue as to what they were doing. Actually, at this point they actually admitted that the problem (that they caused) could be any number of things and they weren't sure of the cause. When I picked the car up this last time I went for a test drive with the manager. As we were backing out of the parking stall (we hadn't even driven 10 feet yet) the car made the same creaking / clunking sound in the front end that they caused 8 months earlier and were supposed to have fixed (this was the third time that I had asked them to fix it)!! When driving the car, it pulled alternately to the left and then to the right. I was at my wits end by now and just wanted to be done with them. The manager, however, said that he wanted me to leave the car with him to fix the problem and give them a "second" chance. My response was that they already had been given three chances to fix the problem (that they had created). Three strikes and you're out!! All-in-all, the "repairs" by Brakes Plus cost me $2,045 and my car is much worse off now than when I brought it in to them for repair in March: the car now has a creaking / clunking sound in the front end (that they created) and the car pulls alternately to the right and the left. The other problem that my wife and I have with this Brakes Plus is that they aren't honest with their customers about when the car will be ready. When I dropped my car off this last time at 7:00 AM on a Wednesday they ended up saying that they couldn't quite get it all put back together again that day and could I pick it up on Thursday. They said that it would be ready by about 9:30 AM the next day. When I arrived a 5:00 PM the next day (!!!) (in other words, I gave them an extra 7.5 hours to get it done) and the car still wasn't ready they said that it would only be 30 minutes more because it still needed to be aligned. One hour later, I finally got my car back. My point is, even though I am not a mechanic I knew that it was going to take more than 30 minutes to do the wheel alignment - another car was on the rack at the time. Bottom line, DO NOT GIVE THE BRAKES PLUS AT KIPLING AND BOWLES ANY OF YOUR BUSINESS!!! read more

Since I live right down the street, this place has always been convenient and handled my business well. I haven't been there in awhile, and have heard that management has run this place into the ground. They were right. I walked in to the front desk, no one was there, and waited 5 minutes while every clerk just stared at me and continued to walk by like I was invisible. Theses guys are bad news. They give you a price, then they add little things that should be included. They tell you it is priced out the door, but then they pad $30-$40 to the price. They give you a $5 off coupon and then add $2 for processing or disposal so the coupon is really $3 not $5. Rude people. Filthy bathroom and waiting room. I have had my brakes done here and also brought my car in when it started making a funny noise... sounded like a diesel and my car isn't a diesel. They checked it out and informed me what the problem was which ended up being my alternator and pulley. I informed them that I would need an itemized quote and a bunch of information to submit to my warranty company and they told me they would handle the whole thing! They dealt with the warranty company, got all of my repairs authorized and performed the service quickly. My car sounds like new now! I always refer people to this place because of they are pleasant to work with and because even when they DO try to upsell me on something, they don't insist it is mandatory. I had my front brakes replaced from this place back in December. The service was fine, it didn't take that long. It was well over $200. Very expensive considering a set of brake pads is like $60. However the reason for the review is they said I need new shocks and struts and quoted me $1000 for this service. Last month, I went around the corner to Midas. Midas did an oil change and told me I didn't need new shocks and struts, and they were fine at this time. It really is disheartening to know they weren't honest, or they were trying to take advantage of me since I'm a woman. I would highly recommend getting a second opinion. This entire little corner is surrounded by other service places. I like Big O tires (they repaired a flat for free), and I also like Midas. Now I need new brakes for my husbands truck and will take my business elsewhere . read more

These guys are con-artist rip-offs carpet baggers. They don't warranty their work and sell sub-standard products to customers. I.E. Break-pads last 5 months. Then found out by discount tire that the last people that worked on front wheels used a hammer to knock wheels off hubs. I had to replace both front wheels. GOOD ONE GUYS! I really enjoyed the service I just received at this Brake's Plus, especially from the technician, Andre. I came in for my oil change and had thought I remembered from my last oil change that my brakes would need to be done. I mentioned that to Vince that I thought they would need to be done, but would need to schedule a separate appointment for that due to lack of time today. When Andre came into the lobby to report back to me, he mentioned to me that my brakes would be good for another two oil changes. This shows me that this is a store and/or technician of honesty and integrity, because I assume they could have just taken advantage of me and told me they needed changing because I was already under that impression, and they did not! I really appreciate that! I also greatly appreciated how Andre thoroughly inspected my car and made me aware of other maintenance aspects to keep my eye on. He even took me back to show me where and what to keep track of in my car, so that I could actually know visually what he was telling me audibly.
