I drove my car out and on my way home I was engulfed in a cloud of smoke to see that oil was spewing out of my engine. Towed it home and found that there was two seals on the oil filter. The oil that came out of my engine was black, it looked like it was topped off! Ran my engine dry and had oil everywhere. Took it back and was met by the most disrespectful rude manager named Russ who refused to refund me until my fury convinced him otherwise. He said he would clean the mess in a couple hours but when I came back it looked like it wasn't even touched. When I told him he continued to give me attitude and I became so fed up that I just left. I called to get an oil changed today. They said come in it would take 30 to 40 minutes. I came in an waited for my drunk for over an hour. They hadn't even started. Disappointed I wasted an hour of my work day I asked about it. He said might as well come back another day if I wanted so I left. I'll not go back to this place again. DO NOT GO HERE!! IM SO UPSET! I left the Maricopa AZ Breaks Plus after my oil change and headed to my facial. My car starts smoking, like a lot, I call breaks plus and they have no idea and say I can bring it back if I want, so I have to cancel my facial (non refundable) because I'm 45 min out and go back. On the way my car starts making a terrible noise, like you put a stick in a fan, I am about 5 miles away at this time, but of course there's construction on the way back so it's slow moving. About 1 mile out my car starts alarming "ADD OIL"!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I assume They didn't put any oil in my car, I bring it in and they tell me the oil filter gasket "malfunctioned" and sprayed out the oil once it got "under pressure". They're saying "of course we'll refund the cost of the oil change". UM REALLY? I called my dealership and it's $165 to have it looked at to see if the engine was damaged plus they need to keep it for at least one day (need a rental) plus I lost my facial that was paid for, plus two days of my time. I said I wanted to speak the the manager but of course they're not there today. They're in tomorrow. I called the corporate office and the regional manager, They said they can't do anything for me beside refund my oil change cost, so I lost a $100 facial, stressed to the max, lost half a day today, a whole day tomorrow at the dealership where they will need my car overnight and cost $165 to start plus the loss of my only free day this week. They won't reimburse me for taking my car for a checkup because I'm supposed to trust that the company that caused the damage will be honest with me that there is no further damage. The regional manager Dan Farace, would only give me vague promises but refused to put anything in writing and flat out refused to reimburse me to take my vehicle anywhere else to be checked out. Worse service, I made an appt with Kevin at 4 pm to get an alignment, after waiting for 1 full hour he tells me I need ball joints to be replaced. 5:30 pm comes he hands me a paper and quoted me $3661.49. I asked him to not touch my car and give me my keys and left. The next day I went to Network Alignment and Brakes they quoted me 1,500 for labor, parts. Brought my car into Brakes Plus for a second opinion and Tony assisted me right away with an honest inspection. Found out the real problem with my car that needed urgent attention and I also found out the inspectors at Pinnacle Nissan lied about an axle leak! I appreciated that he took me out to my car and showed me what he found and went thru all the repairs that needed to be done. Originally went to this location because they were one of the closest mechanics to my house, but now I come here first almost no matter what. These guys, especially their head mechanics, are knowledgeable, friendly, and fair. They are honest to a fault and are more than happy to explain to you what your car does (or doesn't) need repaired. I have an incredible amount of respect for them and always feel like they have my best interests at heart. They don't try to upsell you with un-needed repairs, even plainly stating to me "we don't want you to swap out parts for no reason" so I never feel like I'm getting swindled. I have had an oil change done here, engine mounts replaced, shocks & struts replaced (it's an older car), and couldn't be more satisfied with the entire process from the service to the work itself each time as they go out of their way at times to make me happy with the work being done. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! I took my jeep in here, knowing that I would probably get quoted something ridiculous being as I was a woman on my own. At first, everything was smooth. Front desk costumer service was nice and took in my vehicle almost instantly. It was until they quoted me the price of what they needed to fix. Mind you- I was already out getting quotes from other shops to compare. What should've been a fix of about $400, was quoted $1,600!!!! Me as a woman, not knowing much even knew that was insane. I made an appointment to have my brakes checked at this brakes plus on Tatem and bell. I told them the problem I was having and then they looked over my car. They called me in and told me that I had the wrong brake pads on. They said I needed brake pads that were full ceramic and that the brake pads were causing my problems. I bought the brake pads and installed the brake pads and have the receipt for the brake pads and they are 100% ceramic brake pads. Their estimate to fix the problem I was having was $504.72 That's for new brake pads on all four wheels, turning the rotors on all four wheels. I was pretty sure the brake pads were OK and they were compatible and a very good brake pad. So I decided to make another appointment with another break shop. they told me that the rotors were the problem. And that is it. They gave me an estimate for two front rotors and to resurface the front brake pads which equaled $297.46. It is obvious that the gentleman at brakes plus I was trying to squeeze as much out of me as possible. He was obviously annoyed when I told him I would have to get back to him and that I did not want that work done. The people in my opinion at brakes plus or scam artists and you're not there simply to provide a service that I pay for. They make things up because most people don't really know the difference when it comes to their car. If you go anywhere for any kind of service I would suggest not going to brakes plus. If they are the last garage in town I will not go to them ever again. Extremely sad that they try to take advantage of people because they think they won't know any better. I was contacted on this yelp website by corporate brakes plus and told to send an email to them explaining the situation. I sent them an email 2 weeks ago with all of my contact info and every detail of what happened. I have not heard from them at all. This is a terrible place to get anything done to your car. Especially brake replacement. My nissan car brakes sound worse than a city bus. I paid $400 for terrible loud screeching brakes. I'm stuck with them for a long time. Very sad. read more

Dang. They're friendly, offered me water three times the 3 hours I was here, and changed the channel for me. They're clearly working very hard to make the experience better and improve their ratings. I worked with Roger at the front desk, but many mechanics came into the shop to check on me multiple times. Very friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. Price: I had my front break pads replaced with a ceramic set, not the cheap stuff, and the fluid flushed. Rotors were resurfaced. Very reasonable. I didn't want to pay for cheap pads, even though they're like $9. Ceramic is definitely more pricey. Definitely not as pricey as what my dealership quoted me. Facilities: Very clean, has coffee, water, good magazines. Comfortable A/C level. Clean bathrooms. Much better than your standard mechanic's shop. It took longer than expected, but they had to resurface/cut my rotors twice due to all the rust. read more

Used to be a great place to take your car when Eddy, John, and mike were there. Now, not so much. Took my car in for front brakes and not even a month later, they're screeching and sound horrible. Take the car back with a video of my car making the noises. Their response, we couldn't hear the noises or get it to make the noises again. Ended up taking it to the Kia dealership ( which I should've done all along) ended up, I needed whole new brake pads and my rotors re-surfaces. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

Took my car in for new brakes because it had a shake when you hit the brakes. Problem had happened once before so I knew it was the brakes that were the issue. Get a call trying to say it was both control arms and a few other things and the car wasn't safe to drive without them. After saying 3900 to fix I took it to my mechanic friends and put it on a lift to see there was nothing wrong at all with the control arms and just like I had thought just changing the brakes fixed the problem. It was almost 6 pm on Friday and the oil light on my Nissan Pathfinder came on as I was about to pull into my garage. In a panic I reversed course and headed to the first auto service center I could find; luck was on my side. I pulled in Brakes Plus on North Tatum, it was 5 minutes to 6 and I asked if it was possible to get a quick oil change. The manager, Jason, told me that his crew had just clocked but he volunteered to add oil to my crankcase, he also made an appointment for an oil change the next morning. Apparently I was down 3 quarts of oil which Jason personally added. When I asked how much I owed him Jason said no charge; I was impressed and relieved. Saturday morning I was there bright and early and explained to Michael, the service manager of the day, my story and he got me fixed up. After a quick check of my Pathfinder they realized that my oil coiler was the cause of my leak and made arrangements to have it fixed. Rather than wait in the lobby Brakes Plus gave me a ride home and picked me up when the work was completed. The oil cooler seals were replaced and the oil changed. They also made me aware of a couple other items that would need tending to in the near future. The costs were very reasonable and under the circumstances I was very grateful that I had found some people that I could trust. Fate sometimes smiles. I came in here today to have my grinding brakes looked at. My 2 stars are based solely on my customer service experience. I didn't let them work on my car. Strike 1: A mechanic came in and said "Is that your Mustang?" "Yes." "Thought so. I'll tell the guys to stop making fun of it, har har." Rude, unprofessional, not cool to say to a customer. Strike 2: Presenting me with the repair bill and no explanation of anything, just a lot of "This is the EMERGENCY, BARE MINIMUM". I did not appreciate being handed a $570 bill for just the front brakes and calipers, with no explanation whatsoever and a lot of high pressure "I just need the okay to get started" despite me repeating a few times that I needed to check out my financial situation first. Strike 3: Upon telling the manager I would be taking the car elsewhere to get a second opinion, he launched into what I consider a tantrum. "SECOND OPINION? Second opinion? I gave you the cheapest price around. You won't get better. Grumble grumble, mumble." Took off to the back without another word. I then had to wait a good 10 minutes for a mechanic to pull my car around... guess customer service drops off a cliff when the customer decides they might want to check other options out. I took the car to Sun Devil Auto, who actually explained what was wrong with the brakes, told me I did NOT need new calipers, and that there was another more minor problem causing the wear on my brake pads. They didn't use high pressure sales, they didn't try to scare me with words like "emergency", and the staff was all extremely nice. read more

I noticed my brakes squeaking and grinding so I took my car to my regular mechanic for an oil change and asked him to check it out. He said I needed new brakes and rotors at the tune of $415.00. I decided to get more opinions so I went 5 places total and all 5 gave me the same diagnosis. However, the price out the door at Brakes Plus was $279.00 (they gave me a coupon book which included a $50 off coupon) and they treated me with the most respect out of anybody I went to see. To top it off, they let me drive their company car back to work so I didn't have to sit there and wait! This store is amazing! After attempting to take our truck to Fletcher's, and dealing with that fiasco I was blown away by their level of service here. I called less than an hour before they closed, and was still told to come in anyway and they would look at the truck and take care of it right then and there. They even offered us a vehicle to use in the mean time. I am so glad that they have an open shop, it made it really easy to communicate what was going on and for them to show us exactly what needed to get fixed and why. Our brakes were in really bad shape, I mean really bad. There was nothing left on the passenger side, and the drivers side wasn't much better. But after being told it would take 3 hours or more at Fletcher's, I was very pleased to be driving out of their parking lot less than 1 hour later. All in all they stayed about 10-15 min after close for us, but I can tell you it made a huge impression on us. My boyfriend drives and works all over the valley in that truck, so his safety is a major priority to me, and thanks to all the guys at Brakes Plus, I can feel a little better about him leaving every morning. I have been taking my vehicles to them for a while now, even with my first car about 9 years ago, and to our last truck 2 years ago; but this visit just took the cake. Brakes Plus charged me $50 for pulling off a wheel to give me an estimate and lied about defective parts. BP wanted to charge me $400 Plus for the job, twice that of the dealer. However, Jim's Tires in Canon City fixed the problem for under $100 (wonderful people). I am kicking myself for not remembering when BP charged me for a full-bearing replacement when a loose nut only needed tightening. My car had new bearings. I saw them in the bay area when they immediately told me I needed to leave, as I was not allowed to see how they work. Brakes Plus is a Rip Off!!! I worked on my brakes since a teen. Exceptional service! Had my AC completely replaced a few weeks ago and all of a sudden it started blowing warm air! I was very concerned so I drove it back to BrakesPlus and they discovered a leaky hose that they missed when they replaced the AC. They completely owned up to the error but I was heading up North for the weekend and couldn't get it fixed right then so they charged up my Freon and it got me through the weekend. Dropped the car off Monday morning and they fixed it for free and now it's working great! Yes it was inconvenient but I was very happy with the fact that they owned up to the mistake, fixed it at no charge because unfortunately there are dishonest people out there and I could of been taken advantage of because the car is 16 years old and anything can go wrong at this point!
