New to the area and needing an emission test for my car, I called Brakes Plus and spoke with Don who told me to bring my car in. When I arrived I was greeted right away by Don who I spoke with on the phone earlier. Don was very professional, polite and helpful and assured me my car would be done in 30 minutes. DO NOT GO HERE!!! I took my car in to get the brakes checked. I was told that the rear brakes needed to be replaced so I did that and also requested to have an alignment during that same appointment but they had forgotten about that so it wasn't done. I gave it about a week for the weird noises to go away and let the brake pads and rotors adjust. The squeaking persisted so I brought it back in. I was told that the brake job was not done correctly so they would totally redo the job and my alignment. That same evening I brought my car back from being fixed the second time, I was going to run an errand until I realize that the brake pedal went all the way down to the floor. They had suggested they send a mechanic to the house, but I insisted they tow it back to their shop to have it appropriately worked on. When they brought it back to my house, they said that the reason why my brake pedal went all the way down was because the reservoir was bone dry! I'm not a mechanic so I wouldn't know how to do anything like that in my car couldn't have just done it itself. It seemed as though Matt was not taking responsibility for that. So apparently, they fixed it that time(again). The very next day when I pulled my car out of the driveway, again the brakes were making a grinding squeaking noise. I paid good money to have good quality service. My car has been a hazard to operate since i brought it to them. I'm done contacting them. Tried to give them another chance, went up to get oil change and fuel filter. Was quoted two $250-$300. Called me a few minutes later after I already gotten a ride home, and said it was gonna be close to $500. I had already called the auto parts store for the cost of the fuel filter in the oil filter. $10 for oil filter $31 for fuel filter. Never again, stay away from this place. read more

Although I have used this business several times in the past; I will not do so in the future. When I checked my vehicle after having an oil change at Brakes Plus in Rockwall I found that the vehicle was 1 1/2 quarts low in oil. The general manager for this site offered apologies, but he did not offer compensation for his employees error. In addition to the oil change, I had the brakes flushed. Within two weeks after the work was completed my wife experienced a brake fade. One of the brake bleed screws was loose (I could turn it with my hand). I had to correct and refill the brake fluid reservoir before she could return home. Due to the sloppy work performed on my vehicle, I will look for another vendor for future work. read more

Really appreciate the smooth teamwork here at Brakes Plus Rockwall on South Goliad. Some repairs seem simple at first, but when a major car company puts the reverse camera into the lock-latch housing of your trunk opener, guess what? What! 260 bucks! At least Brakes Plus will honestly tell you, in case you want to hold-off, or shop around, etc. They have plenty of customers, just because they treat them right AND they do good work. Brakes Plus techs will always have guys with experience, so all types of repairs are done. They don't sell tires, but they can do an amazing variety of repairs. First thing first, making an appointment is absolutely pointless. This is the 2nd time I've come here and the second time it has occurred. This time around I had an appointment for 11am. Came in early at 10 am and as of 4pm the car had yet to move and be inspected. What's the point of appointments if you are going to be off by 5 hours (and counting)? The appointment system needs to be better optimized so customers can get a better sense of a ETA. The excuse I got was "well when 20 people book a 8am appointment it backs everything up and customers don't get that". Fixed the calendar to block time slots based on availability. Easy fix to their site. Outside of that, no problems but the massive gap in timing has left a sour taste. read more

BEWARE!! My car wouldn't start, so I jumped it, then took it to Auto Zone to test my battery. The reading came back at 68%, so I then took it to Brakes Plus for a new one since my battery was still under warranty with them. As SOON as I walked in to Brakes Plus, Adam told me that it may not be my battery, but my alternator before even looking at it. After he "inspected" it, he came back and said there was nothing wrong with my battery, and even showed me the reading he "took" which showed my battery was at 100%, and said that it was in fact my alternator. I told him that I was going to get a second opinion and took my car to Christian Brothers. Well would you know, the reading from CB matched up with the one Auto Zone took, and they even said my alternator was just fine. Safe to say I will not be returning to Brakes Plus. They're a bunch of liars, and don't want to stay good on their word when they could just gouge you for more money. ALWAYS get a second opinion!! read more

Like every Brakes Plus location I've ever been to in DFW, service is amazing and the definition of southern hospitality. Prices are transparent and there are online coupons for almost everything. I have access to lifetime warranty for some car parts, and they gladly use my provided parts and simply charge me labor. I can't recommend them enough! read more

So there are many places to take your car for an inspection. I have two vehicles so it's a pain to take them both for oil changes and then state inspections. In March, I had an oil change and I thought it might be too early since my inspection sticker was due in September, however somebody here told me it wasn't too early so I had the state inspection done. Imagine my annoyance when I found out the inspection was due between July 30 and September 30. for the registration of course. I came in annoyed but prepared to pay again... but I didn't have to do that. I went out feeling like I had just had a visit with a good neighbor. These guys absolutely put the Rock in Rockwall Brakes Plus on Goliad. Very happy I was not grilled for my part in lack of researching, instead, Chris Stockert, who has taken over as general manager in October 2023 simply said, "...not a problem, we will redo at our expense.". I think we can all agree that customer non-service is abundant in the world and locally right now, but not at Brakes Plus. I will continue to do business here as long as I live in Rockwall.. And by the way, the bad reviews seem to center around people who have made appointments to bring their cars in. I'm very happy these people even offer appointments as some do not. If these guys are to cars like doctors are to people, appointments, run, long keep that in mind and also keep in mind, they have a nice key drop if you want to bring your car in the night before. Aidan saved me, literally. I came in today because my front brakes were squealing, though I had them and the rotors completely replaced 10 months prior by another reputable auto shop here in Rockwall. My brakes were improperly placed, pins were missing and he said "one hard brake and they could have failed you and you could've died". I knew something was fishy, my car hadn't been driving the same and they were able to fix everything and have my car safe again in just a few hours. I had a 9 o'clock appointment, arrived @ 8:45 for a basic oil change, car was taken back at 9:25, was told the oil plug was stripped.. would be about a 15-20 dollar charge? Agreed to the charge, an hour and half later I had to ask for an estimated time frame, " oh we don't have the part, I will go pick it up " I have no idea why they didn't give me a heads up on waiting for the part? I have never waited for a basic oil change for two and a half hours, 8:45-11:20 with an appointment. No apologies and charged more than the quoted price. The day started off by taking our F-150 to the Ford dealership for an oil change and an overall inspection before our vacation which will be about 1,600+ miles. The Ford dealership informed me that the front and rear brake pads AND rotors needed to be replaced which was estimated at $1,200. I went to a brakes plus in Garland for a second opinion which ended up that the truck needed brake pads but the rotors were fine. Being told two different thing, I figured I should get a 3rd opinion. Andreas at the Rockwall Brakes Plus location is SUPER friendly and was transparent with the inspection. He listened to the events from the day and got to the truck within 5 minutes as well as an estimate/completed inspection within 20 minutes. Andreas took the time to explain the conditions of the pads, the rotors, and the recommended next steps. He was detailed in explaining that the truck needed new pads but rotors just needed to be resurfaced but didn't need to be replaced. The work is more than half the price of the Ford dealership. Andreas was patient and was able to answer all my questions. I will definitely be using the Brakes Plus Rockwall again and fully trust the work that has been completed. They totally messed up my sons car here, just putting spark plugs in! Came out with check engine light on and drive train warning, no power and shaking. The only service I needed were turned rotors and new pads... at this rate I could have driven to Austin or Houston to have them changed there. Very very poor performance for such a simple task. Will never come back here. If you value your time, stay away... they pulled my vehicle into the bay fairly shortly after arriving. I was quoted an hour at arrival for an entire brake service... I took my car to the NEW Brakes Plus in Rockwall in February for a second opinion. Firestone originally told me suspension bags needed to be replaced; Brakes Plus said NO, THE PUMP NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I listened to Brakes Plus and had them fix the issue and paid $900. One month later, I am still having the same problem, took it back to Brakes Plus and now they are saying NO, IT'S NOT THE PUMP ITS THE BAGS AND IT WILL COST AN ADDITIONAL $2K.
