I took my car here for a state inspection. They got me in and out in under 20 minutes. Polite and excellent customer service. A week prior, I went to Valvoline on I-30 get my other car inspected and waited an hour just to pull into a bay. 30 minutes later, they completed the inspection. Their staff which consisted of young kids were standing around talking and laughing while customers were waiting to get their cars serviced. They lost me for future services and will be using Shield's from now on. read more

Love this small family owned shop. I am always treated with respect and never have to wait too long to get my oil changed. It's located on a busy corner so you can always walk over to one of the stores to kill a little bit of time. There is no air conditioned waiting room so take note of that. They do have chairs for you to sit outside and you can hear how horn happy we have become in this country. The service is quick and I feel like they are honest. You can tell they are hard working and I am so glad I found this gem in Rockwall. I was seriously out in about 25 minutes for an inspection and oil change!! They are open 8-5:30 during the week and 8:00-1:00 on Saturdays. Closed on Sundays. read more

I went to have a state inspection done 2 weeks ago. The wonderful gentleman informed me it could not be done with my check engine light on. They turned it off and reset it, told me to drive for a certain amount of miles, and if the light stayed off, I was good to go. Well my light came on, but I was still extremely pleased these guys didn't charge me for an inspection they knew I wouldn't pass. I returned today with my car ready for inspection and thought because I'd arrived so close to closing time they may turn me away, but they did not. My inspection was done in less than 10 minutes. Needless to say, I will never think twice about that again. I was recommended Shields by a Facebook group for Rockwall and I couldn't be happier. They did have several cars pull in for different services, tire and other inspections after me and were all greeted warmly when they arrived. So I've only ever reviewed one place on Yelp and I gave it a 1-star. Figured I needed to even out my review history and immediately thought of Shields. I've been coming here for inspections for about 9 years. Not once have a ever had an issue. Super quick, the technicians are friendly and won't try to BS you into spending money on something you don't need. Unfortunately, the last time I came in their computers were down and they couldn't service my vehicle. Had to go somewhere else for the first time and it was an awful experience. I had no idea this was an Exxon-related business. Anyway, I whipped in there on my way to work because my tire kept losing air. I was in a hurry and miffed that I would have to spend money. To my delight, the two guys running the place patched up my tire in less than 5 minutes! And the price was right at only $10! (I tipped an extra $5 because they were so fast, quite nice, efficient, and it's Christmas.) This place did the job right (it's been 2 weeks and my tire is still full), did it quickly, and did it fairly. I will return for my inspections and other tire needs.
