I really don't like bad reviews but what we experienced last night was beyond horrible in every sense. We ordered food around 6. After about an hour we called back because we haven't received the order yet. They said no problem it's in its way. Now it's closer to 8 pm and still no food. We called back again and said if there is a problem let us know. They said that they got lost and didn't have a phone number to call. Now who's problem is that? What delivery business doesn't take down a number??.. The guy apologized and said no charge and they were still sending the food. When the food got there the delivery boy said to only pay for one meal...shady! My friends wife I guess get bad and gave him a $20... on top of everything the food sucked!! The Picadinio only had 2 shrimp in it, no pork and no chorizo. The ribs were dryer than tooth picks. I have eaten here before and if was always pretty good. This time was beyond horrible. Do yourselves a favor and go to the Brazilian place in Bayville. It's 10x better. Btw we didn't even get an apology. read more

Took a chance and ordered from this new BBQ place on Fischer Blvd. in Toms River for a 4th of July party for 25 people. I ordered the chicken and the delicious dry rub ribs, as well as the rice and fries. All were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The best was that I did not have to spend hours grilling and the food was delivered to my home hot, and on time and at no charge for delivery! I will definitely order again this summer, and the next and the next!! read more

First visit tonight, ordered the garlic shrimp and an order of the sausage with sides of rice and black beans. Gotta say, pretty good, nice job. Grew up in north Jersey, spent a lot of time in the smaller Portuguese places in the Iron Bound section of Newark and this place brings back some memories of those days. Great job guys, will be back. Next time I have to pick up a bottle of Sangria on the way home though! read more

Huge portions, cooked to perfection. Everytime. I work in seaside so my food selection is wide and slim at the same time. Tons of food, all fried garbage. These guys deliver and they do it quickly! I recommend the half chicken, yellow rice and sweet potato fries! read more

After growing up in the Newark area, this place is simply meh. It's no Elm St. BBQ...not by a long shot. It's just ok. I've gone a couple of times, but am relatively unimpressed. If I want Portuguese BBQ, I drive up to Newark instead. If this place were in Newark, it would be out of business. read more

First time here went because of the reviews which were correct. I had the mixed picadinho very good my wife had the short ribs, also very good. If your looking for the Taj Mahal you went to the wrong place, if you are looking for a good meal pull up a chair manga. read more

Tasty Chicken. This place is one of the few places in Toms River that offers decent tasting food. The price is great.

Had several meals here and have never been let down. Always super tasty. The rice and potato sides are mouth watering. The vegetable side is always fresh and perfectly cooked. This place is Amazing! I ate at many of the places like this in Newark... This is a different type of BBQ - It's Portuguese inspired BBQ, so don't look for fall off the bone ribs you have to work for it but in the end the reward is Awesome! Everything is great, the ribs, the chicken, the wings, the steak sandwich, oh and the Mixed Picadinho is out of this world!!! Surprisingly DELICIOUS! I say surprisingly because it's a tiny simple place in a strip mall. My husband and I were in the area for the evening and were looking for some good food. After reading the reviews on Yelp, we decided to give it a try. But when we pulled into the parking lot and saw that it looked like a hole in the wall with no real seating and no air conditioning on, we almost left. Luckily, the hunger in our bellies overruled the appearance. Man were we surprised when we got our platters. TONS OF FOOD! We had the garlic chicken and the chicken picarinho (not sure on that spelling?!). They were both AMAZING! They gave us a little squeeze bottle of hot sauce to add some additional spice to the picarinho and it was perfect. The rice was flavorful. The veggies were cooked perfectly, not too soft! The black beans were seasoned just right! And the chicken was tender! If we ever find ourselves in Toms River again, we will definitely go back. read more

We have been here multiple times and have not been disappointed. The baby back ribs, coated with a dry rub, are just delicious. The shrimp with garlic and the chicken are also delicious. You get two sides for every platter you order. Our favorite are the Spanish style fries and the black beans. There is no waiter service, and only 3 tables in this primarily take-out establishment. Absolutely Authentic Portuguese Flavors!!! This is as good as it gets!!! Mouth watering baby back ribs and chicken with spanish fries and yellow rice and a side of black beans and it is the best food I have had in a long time!!!!!! I am originally from Belleville-Newark area and always have enjoyed portuguese bbq when living up north, it was always available and always good,,, However, I am now living in Jackson-Tomsriver area and I havent eaten my favorite portuguese dishes in about 6 years, Once I found Brasas BBQ I was thrilled to eat portuguese food again and I must say this: This food tasted better than any ppoprtuguese place that I have ever been to in North Jersey!!! I even told the owner to pleeeeease open another one of these in Jackson!! WE need a place like this here!! I'll even help fund the place!!! The staff is not friendly and you need to double check your order to make sure they got it right, because they make mistakes. The food is decent. Large portions and prices OK, but not great. Great portuguese food!!! We always order take out from here. Only bad thing about restaurant is its primarily a take out place. Only about four tables total in the place. I hope they expand one day. We always order the ribs and chicken combo with a side of refried black beans. The ribs are the BEST around. Their portions are huge for anything you order. You get so much for your money. I ordered a half platter of " Mixed Picadinho" which on ther menu should have Cubed pork, Beef, Shrimp and Chourico. First off, there was no beef. They put chicken instead. Second they put ONE Shrimp, lol... The choice of two sides, omg. I chose Roasted potatoes with Peppers and onions, there was no peppers and the onions was horrible. If your looking for food that sounds good, then you found the place. What you actually get is not no where near expected, for the price. Would I recommend? Hell to the no... I just moved to the area so I've been trying new places. In Newark there were delicious Portuguese BBQ's so I decided to give this one a go. I guess my expectations were too high. At first the staff were friendly, but that didn't last. As I was getting into the car I realized something had spilled through the bottom of the bag. It was completely soaked in the garlic sauce. There were drops of the garlic oily sauce all over me (it was very very hot!) and the car of my seat. I go inside asking if I could have some wet paper towels explaining what had happened. The counter boy just pushed a roll of paper towels my way, and completely ignored me until I asked where a bathroom was so I could wet the paper towels. Not even apologizing for the inconvenience. I then go back out and scrub my seat hoping the oil wouldn't stain my seat. I then go back inside to ask for a new bag, and if I could have a new container because the one I had was not closing properly. This time another counter boy does not say a word, but rather closes the container back up and starts to move the counter all around to see if anything was spilling. After two tries he hands the already greasy container back to me; never saying a word. When I get home, and open all the food I realize they did not give me the rice I had ordered, but instead undercooked vegetables. So I call and ask to speak to a manager, or the owner. The boy on the phone tells me there is no supervisor in tonight and I would have to call back in the morning. Yet again no one apologizes for the inconveniences. And to top it all off the food was not even good! (especially after paying so much) The garlic oily sauce tasted like chicken broth, and italian dressing with minced up garlic floating around. The only thing that tasted good were the french fries that were obviously bagged fries just thrown in a deep fryer. read more
