This restaurant claims to be the best prime rib in new jersey. If you like it rare you are in the right place. If you like it more well done go elsewhere. They but the meat in the broiler and tend to burn it making uneatable. I should have reviewed my meal sooner while it was fresh in my mind. But I do recall that the food here was exceptionally good when my wife and I visited back in November. I was told to try their Prime Rib so that's just what I did. Well, needless to say it was incredible. The meat was tender, cooked to my liking and seasoned very well. See pic below. It was also HUGE. It was a mouthwatering experience. The atmosphere was very casual, almost like a pub or sports bar but good for families. Nothing impressive other than their food really. This is not a place I'd actively seek out, however the birthday girl wanted to come here so we did. Party of 8, made a reservation on a Saturday night just to be safe, didn't really need one. Ambiance is typical local bar/restaurant. Our server was okay, but her section was slammed, I'll give her the benefit of doubt. Slow on refills (all drinking beer and cocktails), unfortunately hurt the end total of the check. Ordered chicken nachos to start, they were ice cold, had to send it back. Second time around it was better. I ordered a house salad to start and it was a big salad. One thing is for sure, the portions are huge. No one should leave hungry, and price is very very reasonable. Ordered a burger medium well and it was charred, but a safe choice. Others got the prime rib and were happy, those that ordered the salmon said it could use some more seasoning. Southwestern salad doesn't come with a southwestern style dressing, just the usual choices (who puts Italian on a southwestern ?) Menu is a mix of fusion-confusion, Italian, Mexican, classic american, shrimp fra diavolo on the menu right next to fajita. Overall, quick fix, easy seating, music on the weekend but the band is karaoke style and I'd give them a C+. read more

Been to this place twice! Once for lunch and once for dinner. Lunch: - They have really cheap lunch deals for $5. - The food was decent but there was nothing to brag about. Here's what we ordered Appetizers: -Spinach and Artichoke Dip, Calamaris and Buffalo Wings -Raw Little Neck Clam (My Aunt sent it back because they didn't look fresh) Entrees: Chicken Francaise, Chicken Marsala, Chicken Caesar Wrap, Pulled BBQ Beef (A little bit dry according to my cousin). Dinner: I remembered that they served an AMAZING prime rib for dinner (this was probably a year ago). It was very juicy and tender. Hope it's still the same quality. read more

I just had a beautiful brunch at the Brass Rail in Hoboken NJ. The waitress did an amazing job. The food was fantastic and our table by the window (upstairs) was amazing. Based on the location we decided to come here for dinner. The parking lot was a mess, totally packed, but the restaurant wasn't. Decided to sit in the bar area and that was a mistake. Had to go to the bar after 10 minutes and still took anther 5+ for the bartender to even come over and then didn't bring a single menu for another 10 minutes. Service was just not good. Food was fine, nothing special or great. But overall the experience was really not good. I think the bartender was over extended and needed a lot of help. read more

Food was fine. Service was fine. But anyone deciding to patronize this place needs to know they add 4% to your bill if you use a credit card. They don't post this anywhere where customers will actually see it and you won't know until you get your check. So, if you're ok with donating 4% of your tab to who knows where, go for it. We love Brass Rail! We come for the prime rib. I always get the English cut Montreal, medium rare with garlic mash. Hubby gets English cut smothered. It's always cooked to perfection. Honestly, if I'm going to have steak, I'd rather get it here for the quality and price rather than an expensive steaks house in NYC or Hoboken. It also comes with a big bowl of salad. This was our first visit. We went with a bunch of friends who go pretty regularly. The place is very noisy. Service was slow. It took 45 minutes just to get some bread on the table. We heard that prime rib is the specialty. My husband and I both ordered it. The meat itself was kind of flavorless and very fatty. The au jus helped a lot. The baked potatoes seemed like they'd been leftover and reheated. The meal was acceptable, but I don't think we'll return. read more

Customer service here is trash. I called at 7pm on Thursday 5/20 and the woman put me on hold for 5 minutes. (Ok I can get past that) Then, she answers and says there's no prime rib. I responded by saying I wasn't going to order prime rib anyway. Then she tells me "well we aren't doing take out orders right now it's too busy. You can try again in an hour" and literally hung up on me!! What in the world?! What kind of establishment cancels take out orders temporarily like that AND hangs up on customers! I've never even gone to this place but was recommended by a faithful customer there. Excellent lunch menus on the weekdays for only $5.99 or $7.99. Many available selections and everything we ordered tasted great. The food came pretty fast and our waitress was friendly. My tuna fish sandwich on rye bread was super tasty and the fries were perfectly crispy. My husband ordered the prime rib sandwich which he loved too. He also ordered a side of minestrone soup for $1 more, which has just the right amount of salt in it. Normally soups are over salted. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for something fast on a weekday. read more

I was just confronted by the owner that I need to leave because I did not buy enough food. Although, I did spend 20 dollars last week. He tells me there is a two drink minimum which I indeed met. However, He refused to look at my last receipt. The waiters and staff are not attentive, and the owner for some reason has is out for me. I spent over 180 dollars this year at his establishment only to get kicked out. The soda is so watered down that it looks like ice tea. read more

Went here for the first time last night with my husband for a much-needed date night. The waitress seemed overwhelmed, and it took us several minutes to be sat; there was actually a line at the host stand. The food was meh. I got a "chicken Gorgonzola" special, which didn't taste like Gorgonzola but was instead super oily. My husband got the prime rib - he said the meat was good, but his mashed potatoes were cold. Onion soup however was very good, and the bread basket was nice and warm. We came on a Friday night, when there's live music. I like live music, but it shouldn't be so loud that I had to move to be next to my husband in the booth just so I could talk to him, and even then, we were shouting while 6 inches apart. This place is the best! I cannot believe it took me so long to try it out but so glad my husband and I did. I had a fabulous dinner of steak and crab cakes. The crab cakes tasted fresh and very well made. Steak was cooked perfect! Also ordered the wings from the specials and it was one of the best things I have had and sitting on top a bed of beans in a great bbq sauce with a kick. So very good. This place really impressed me. First time at this restaurant and my 10 yr old daughter and I were greeted by the hostess with dirty as we entered the restaurant through one of the doors propped open leading into the dining area. This used to be my go to place. We ate here weekly is not bi weekly. The last time we went it left a bad taste in my husbands mouth, He ordered a 12 oz NY strip and it looked like they tried to cut a rotten portion off before grilling it. The Manager argued with my husband and he sent his food back-we left without eating. That was months ago an he refuses to go back. Now i love the place, so yesterday after coming home from the beach, i told my girlfriend we would go there for an early dinner. We walk in and are seated on the patio. There are two other tables. One table is a group of regulars with one of the waitresses sitting with them. Our waitress comes over and took our drink orders. The group with the restaurants waitress sitting was talking and someone remarked about how hot one of their party members black t-shirt was. He replied its not hot. I don't mind black shirts. One of the women looks at us (we are obviously POC not to mention they all looked at us when we walked in) and says...Cause Black Shirts Matter. The employee was sitting right there and didn't bat an eye. Now your beliefs are your beliefs, but to intentionally say something to make someone uncomfortable is BS. Owner/manager high-fiving locals and ignoring new faces. Drink pours were very generous. As happy hour ended locals added multiple drinks on their tabs new faces were ignored. Clams casino were very good but a bit dry, Known for their slow roasted prime rib. Order med rare came out medium. Sent it back. Same plate came out saying that is as red as they have. Totally unacceptable for a place that says they are known for the prime rib. Understand they are busy but went 20 minutes before someone checked on me. Will probably not return. read more
