Not a bad place for a neighborhood bar. The clientele is a bit on the rough side. There are a bunch of regulars at the bar who drink every day and get rowdy. The bartender Sharon is really nice. The place is not too pricey. But not classy either. Decent food for the money. read more

The Poet's Inn was a legendary eating establishment which occupied this same location once upon a time ago. After several changes in ownership, the last TPI owner is back. It's been a few years, but I finally gave it a try. The decor is updated. More modern. But the food is still great. I had the pub steak, smothered in provolone, grilled onions, and mushrooms. It was outstanding. Cooked perfectly to my liking. One of the best steaks I have had. Only downside was the service. Maybe just a bad day on his part. Can't wait to return. read more

Just got finished dinner at the Brass Rail for the third time sonce moving to Hazlet last year. Each time we have been very satisfied with the food, however the service has gotten increasingly worse each time. This evening, we almost decided against going there because of the amount to time we waited for our dinners the last time. We decided to give it one more chance and boy did we make the wrong choice. It took us 6 minutes from the time we sat down to be greeted. We set a stop watch to time how long it took for our food to be delivered to the table. It took 76 minutes. We ordered a Prime Rib, a prime rib sandwich and two salads. It was obvious that the waitstaff was overwhelmed each time we have visited. The bald owner/manager was running around like a lunatic each time we have visited there. He stopped by after we requested to speak to him and apologized and offered us free dessert, which we declined. They had a few chaffing dishes, that included Eggs Benedict, Scrambled Eggs, French Toast, home fries, bacon and sausage, ziti, chicken, bagels, fruitcup and a danish type pastry. First of all, the food was all cold, not a single thing that was hot. I assume they were not watching the sternos. Secondly, they were either out of food or at the bottom of the tray. We needed to ask several times that they cook more food. The food was below the quality of a typical diner. Reminded me of school cafeteria food. I just felt like the brunch was an after thought and something just to cash in on Mothers Day. Was embarrassed and sad for the moms that day. Went for the first and last time tonight. The waitress was missing most of the time. Never brought the bread to go with the soup and salad. People seated way after us got their food and we were still waiting. When my prime rib and baked potato came the potato was hard and when I put the butter on it just sat there. The food came out cold. Took forever for the waitress to come back to get her attention. Sent it back to heat it up. Came back on a different plate that was cold and now had no au jus and the food was just barely warm. . The whole experience was a disappointment. It was mostly empty so it wasn't because they were busy. I am not a picky person and will overlook alot but this was a waste of good money and our date night was ruined. Perhaps I made a mistake by ordering Shrimp and Scallops Marinara. I am use to sea scallops in this dish, they served it with bay scallops. The quantity was okay but it wasn't worth eating it all. The other meal ordered was baby Back Ribs. The comments that I got was that the ribs were very fatty and Kraft BBQ sauce would have been better. The beer price was high for Yuengling, it was priced like an import. The salad was fresh and the dressings were good. I thought that the server was very good. I have been here two times before. There are plenty of bars offering happy hour drink and food specials. Then there is the brass rail. Atmosphere is very bar like. Barstools around the bar with hooks for your lady to hang her purse (or maybe you're murse) There is also a section for those who want to dine in a restaurant type setting. Children are welcome in the dining room. Bar Tenders are very courteous and observant. Drink specials including import and domestic beers and drinks. Sounds like every happy hour at every corner bar right! What sets them apart from your other bars is the food. Not just because most of the appetizers are half price but the quality of the food served is excellent. The wings are definitely the top of my list of good wings. They aren't breaded. And sauce on the side is great for dipping. The chili and cheese served with chips is bowl cleaning good. Even the burgers are o so delicious. Quite possibly one of the worst meals I've ever had. Prime Rib was very fatty and too salty. My boyfriend actually got sick from the pork. The greek salad was terrible. All you could taste was oregano. To top it off - I ordered a margarita - how can you screw up a margarita? They put it in a regular water glass. I will say the appetizers are largely mediocre at best. Was not impressed by the wings or nachos. Quesodillas and spinach/artichoke dip are better choices. Entrees though they do very well. The prime rib was very good as are the burgers. Also they have dinner specials which go I think until 9 p.m. that are very great value. The Vesuvius dessert is amazing. The wait staff is always very friendly, much props to them, especially Chris. They have the standard beers on tap- yuengling, stella, Sam Adams, Coors, bud, etc. Wish the selection was a little bigger. Went for dinner. Had the prime rib. It was on spot. Perfectly cooked. My wife never finishes her dinner, she devoured her med cut completely. Our waitress was excellent also. Waited to make sure that we were ready for the entree and asked us if we were ready because I had my salad sitting there but I like to eat it with my dinner rather than before it.
