    Buffalo Wings

Buffalo Wings are nothing but breading with little meat. The lobster bisque was so salty my blood pressure spiked. Have to say would rather eat at Taco Bell at least I get what I pay for. Very disappointed

Our daughter was celebrating her birthday, so we decided to go to a local restaurant, the Brass Rail in Locust Valley, NY. We were greeted by the host who brought us to our table in the dining room. We had a round of drinks and all toasted our daughter for her birthday. The restaurant has a bar area and a dining room area. The bar area has some seating at the bar and several tables. Even though the bar was crowded it was not noisy. The lighting in the dining room was low, so you can have a quiet and enjoyable dinner. Some might say it's romantic! Our server, Christine, greeted us with big smile. We talked and drank our drinks without being rushed. We reviewed the menu which had quite an extensive selection of food. She came back and we ordered our entrees. My wife liked the breast of duck, my daughter liked the steak au poivre and French fries and my daughter's boyfriend and I like the crusted salmon with mashed potatoes. As we began to eat everyone commented how delicious the food was. The serving sizes were perfect and we were all satisfied that we had a wonderful and delicious meal. Locust Valley is a small hamlet on the north shore of Long Island. The Brass Rail is located in the Center of town with plenty of parking for their customers. We all enjoyed our meals and the restaurant experience. If you love great food, great service and enjoy a great night out, you will love the Brass Rail. Next time you want to go to friendly restaurant try the Brass Rail, you will not be disappointed. Stay safe and keep healthy. Eat well!

Stopped in to The Brass Rail for lunch, we were working in the neighborhood for a client and this was a local recomendation so we decided to stop in. I was happy to see that this restaurant is owned by the same people who run The Wild Goose in Port Washington, which I had a great dinner date at a few months back. We came in for an early lunch, the outside had not been setup yet, so we went inside and was happy to see essentially the whole place to ourselves! Beautiful decor, nicely put together tables, classy music playing, full bar, and extensive menu to choose from. We ended up getting The Spicy Pea Soup, which was delicious, and I got a Cesar Salad with a Chicken Dish to go with it, my dad got the French Dip which he enjoyed very much. Definitely recommend for people who are in the neighborhood!

Looking for a restaurant on Long Island since we are from Florida and red the glowing reviews. Went with our kids, my brother-in-law, and our daughter-in-law's mother who are all New Yorkers. We were seated in the bar area in front of the dining room. I started with Blue Point Oysters on the half shell, very good. My wife ordered the soup du jour, Mushroom soup, just fair. For mains, my wife tried the Short Rib Quesadilla which she thought was ok. Being a duck fan and in Long Island, how could you not ordered the Seared Long Island Duck Breast, roasted black grapes, Brussel sprouts & pancetta, sweet potato puree, black grape & balsamic jus. Unfortunately i was disappointed.

This place is a gem. It gives off a romantic ambience due to the dimly lit interior, great for a date night. The food is consistently delicious each time we come. My favorite dishes are: short rib quesadilla, tri color salad, sesame crusted scottish salmon, blackened mahi mahi, steak au poivre (one of my favorite steaks ever), and their homemade ice cream (seriously the best ice cream you'll have). Brass Rail is a must try restaurant, do NOT pass on the ice cream. Highly recommend.

Love this place ! Great cocktails and a great burger as well as great steaks. I started off with the tuna which was outstanding. Had a filet mignon for main which was cooked to perfection. My better half had a hanger steak which she also loved.

Oh those matchstick French Fries! Delicious!! I have never had them this good before! The Shrimp and Oyster Po Boy was absolutely delicious, perfect spiciness, and the roll was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We went for lunch on a rainy day and there was a nice crowd. The service was helpful but not overly attentive - but that was ok. A delicious meal in a nice atmosphere. It was worth the trip!

Jeanine herself is so warm and accommodating and is such a sincere and kind person. On one visit when I was in a rush picking up dinner for my mom, she went above and beyond to quickly prepare the most perfectly tender chicken cutlet with vegetables in just minutes. On my most recent visit, I had the most delicious chicken parm with ziti I have ever had in my life. The ziti was not only perfectly cooked, but the sauce - wow! It was something out of this world. The best I've ever had. I can't even properly describe how incredible it was - you have to try it for yourself! While I was waiting, someone at the bar overheard my order and told me how amazing it was and said that I am going to love it! She was absolutely right. I've also had their brick oven pizza many times - they make it fresh right in front of you in minutes and it's absolutely delicious. I can't believe how quickly they prepare such phenomenal food across the board. The prices are incredibly reasonable for such high-quality, home-cooked style food. You can absolutely really taste the care and quality in everything they make. Jeanine's is the best - I highly recommend!

Cons: I've called this place 4 times in past couple of months for a pick-up order. First time was great and picked up the food and fell in love so much so that it would be a regular on a night that I'd pick up rather than cook. Second time I called and was told to hold on and I literally timed it. After 10 minutes, no one picked up but could hear all the chatter from the bar patrons. Third time I called it was probably picked up by a bar patrons that sounded like he really enjoyed his liquids. Needless to say, he placed me down on bar and after what seemed like a few minutes, I was hung up on. The last and final time I attempted to call for pickup, no one ever picked up the phone. Final result: I believe if you plan on going up there and dealing with the wait, then the food is worth it. As for me being a regular customer, they've lost my business. If they had a working website or some other way of ordering, I may try them again. Otherwise, I won't go there unless I plan to sit and eat there or indulge at the bar: The potential for a great business is there, but maybe they only want to remain as a bar to their regulars.

The shishito peppers were blistered just right with great flavor and a little kick. Simple, but done well. The smash burger was the standout. Cooked perfectly with a great sear, juicy inside, and topped with melty cheese and pickles that balanced everything. Add the truffle fries and it was game over. Crispy, flavorful, and generously seasoned. The Greek salad was fresh and bright, with good quality feta and olives. A solid, refreshing balance to the heavier dishes. Service was exceptional. Attentive without hovering. The decor is warm and stylish, great energy without being too loud.

We were seated immediately in the room toward the back left corner where we were the only table occupying the space. In fact, as the evening progressed, no other diners/groups were seated back there, which was nice. We observed that although it was a Friday evening at prime dinner hour, the restaurant never got too full nor was the bar area buzzing. Again, it was nice that it wasn't so hectic in there, but we noted that as curious for a spot like this, on a Friday evening, and when the weather was pleasant. Starting with a high point: our server was really good. He was a very nice young man who let us know at the end of our meal that it was actually his first day on the job. While we could tell he didn't know everything about the menu - which is totally understandable given him being a new hire - he was kind, personable, and went above and beyond to provide excellent and timely service. As for the venue, it was nice although not upscale and that was just our speed for this evening. We loved having the room to sit comfortably at a setup that could comfortably seat 8. As for the food, it was decent although I wouldn't call anything I tasted fantastic. For apps, we shared 2 orders apiece of calamari, crab cakes, and lamb chops (6 apps total) with the chops being my favorite out of those. The calamari were small and didn't pack a lot of flavor but they were fried well. The marinara sauce that came with it was also fine but not remarkable. The crab cakes were a little mushy for our liking. For my entrée, I ordered the Lobster Rigatoni. There was plenty of lobster on top, the portion was more than solid, and it came out at the right temperature but the flavor again failed to really impress and was somewhere between "fine" to "good". For dessert, I ordered the chocolate lava cake, and I was truly disappointed by that. For starters, there was no gooey "lava" as the name implied, and the edges were dry and seemed overcooked. The flavor again fell a little flat and I didn't bother to finish it even though I am usually a huge fan of chocolate desserts. All in all, we had an enjoyable evening as a crew, but the food could be elevated a bit from a flavor standpoint. I would give the food a little better than a "3" but I think they have enough going for them that amping up the flavors could do wonders for their desirability and drawing more diners.

Rich, smooth, and topped with a massive toasted marshmallow that basically deserves its own review. If you're coming here in the winter, it's a must-order. The food was exceptional. The roasted chicken was cooked perfectly, juicy and full of flavor, and the stuffed artichoke special was one of the most unique, well-executed dishes I've had on the Island. Warning to Diners: Bad Food, Worse Service -- and a Sketchy OpenTable Cancellation!…read more We hardly ever eat at neighborhood restaurants since we're in the City most of the time, but we were staying in the neighborhood this weekend, so we decided to give a local spot a try. I rarely leave negative reviews, but tonight's experience deserves a warning to others. What was supposed to be a simple dinner turned into one of the most unsettling dining experiences we've had. My husband and I ordered the pork chop and the chicken pot pie. The pork chop started out fine until we reached a section that smelled foul--a strong, rotten odor with a reddish interior totally different from the cooked part we had already eaten. We both noticed it immediately. When we told the female waiter, someone from the kitchen who maybe the owner eventually came out, only to dismiss us and insist he didn't smell anything. The tone was snobbish and condescending, and there was zero concern that we had already eaten part of something potentially unsafe. At the very least, he should have asked how he could make it right--but he didn't. The pork chop was only removed from the bill after my husband said he would not pay for it. That should never be a negotiation. The chicken pot pie was completely ordinary, and the cornbread topping was dry to the point of being unpleasant. Between the questionable food and the even more questionable customer service, this place left a terrible impression. Neighbors be warned!!! Addendum -- Diners, Please Read / OpenTable, Please Take Note Our reservation was for 6:30. After getting home at 7:50, I went to leave this review on OpenTable--where we made our reservation--only to find that our reservation had been canceled at 7:48 PM, after we had already eaten there. Because of that, we have no record of dining and cannot leave a review on their platform! I had no idea a restaurant could do this. It feels extremely sketchy, especially since canceling a reservation like that conveniently prevents guests from posting an unfavorable review. No wonder the OpenTable rating looks so high. This isn't just disappointing -- it's something OpenTable should be aware of. If restaurants can erase reservations after the fact, it undermines the entire review system that diners rely on. Consider this a warning to future guests and a call for OpenTable to look into this practice.
