Bravos is fantastic. The servers are friendly and welcoming. Service is fast (with exception for one time on Cinco de Mayo when they were slammed) and the food is always hot and delicious. The salsa is the first sign you're at a good Mexican restaurant. Bravos has fresh tasting salsa and chips (doesn't taste like tinned tomatoes or chili powder like some other Mexican places nearby). They also provide a creamy chipotle sauce with the chips. I recommend the Tacos de Fajitas (chicken please!) and my husband, who is a notoriously picky eater, recommends the Bravo's Cheese Steak. I was shopping at the staples store next door. I wanted to take some food home so I stopped in to place an order. I was greeted by the host as I came in to the restaurant. I picked up the menu to look at but he took that menu away from me and gave me a paper menu to look at (I thought that was weird but ok...) I looked around and there were only 5-6 tables in the dinning room and 4-5 people at the bar so I changed my mind and decided to stay to have dinner there. I gave the host his little paper menu back and I went to seat at the bar. Here is where thing got crazy. The bartender was leaning on the counter looking down and texting paying no attention to anyone at the bar. I waited for him to acknowledge me but with no luck, a ticket came in to his printer so he walked right in front of me (not wanting to make eye contact with me) to make the servers drink. He finished with that (only one drink) and he turned around and disappeared into the kitchen. I waited a while and though well if they don't want my business I can go anywhere else so I left. Walking out I let the host know that the bartenders was texting not paying attention to anyone and now he's gone from the bar, I got a "oh ok..." from him. There were nobody in charge that I could see so it was useless for me to stay and try to talk to a manager type person. I can spend my dollars at any other restaurant It was very uncomfortable to be ignored and dismissed that way. If they don't teach their employees the value of each customers and what a big deal it is every time a customer walks out they don't deserve your money... read more

I've done takeout from here several times now and have been generally happy. I'm not sure about the ambiance or decor since I never stay longer than to grab my bag of goodies and leave, but it seems like a typical mexican restaurant meets sports bar sorta deal. The prices are really decent, especially the lunch specials! Favorite menu item by far is the Enchiladas Rancheros, well done cheese enchiladas smothered in a braised beef in red sauce. Every time I order it the dish comes out in different porportions (somtimes lots of beef topping, sometimes not much, sometimes lots of cheese, sometimes more tortilla). I figure that's pretty typical for a casual mexican restaurant where I doubt the cooks are strenuously replicating eachother's efforts, but it's still usually pretty good. If I just want cheap tacos with a heaping side of chips and salsa you can not beat the chicken soft tacos for around $5.00. The desserts are gross, don't bother with those. The guacamole dip and chorizo dip are both pretty darn good for the price. Cliffnotes: find a dish you like here for a decent price, stick with it, you typically won't be disappointed. read more

This is my new fave Mexican restaurant in Cary. The food is very tasty. I had been going to Los Tres but I think I'll be going here more often now. I've had Carnitas which was very authentic and the meat was succulent (yes I just said that). I've also had the steak quesadilla, burrito grande, and chicken tostaquac. They were all very good. The interior looks nice and the staff is friendly. They're not quite as fast as Los Tres...but then again, who is (Los Tres can have your order ready before the waiter returns to the kitchen). read more

This place was just okay. We showed up around 12:30-1:00 on a Sunday. The place was deserted except for one or two tables who looked like they were finishing up. My husband and I sat and our waiter brought our drinks. We got a few minutes to look at the menu, and it took our waiter about ten minutes to get back with us. While we waited, we had the pleasure of watching someone at the bar yelling and going on about a soccer match on TV. He seemed to be a friend of the employees because they were crowded around watching the game with him as well. Our waiter finally came back and took our orders, and our meal came out in a decent time. Honestly, the food was okay but not memorable. Something you would expect out of a Mexican restaurant. The guac salad in the mini shell was pretty good. Once our food was out however, our waiter disappeared again and we didn't see him for the rest of the time there. We sat for a while after we finished our food and it was only when another waiter noticed us did he take our empty plates and ask if we wanted refills. This is "Our Usual Place"... we're definitely regulars at Bravo's. The service is always wonderful, every person on the staff treats us as if it's their own place. The food is obviously made fresh each day, as evidenced by the slight differences in the salsa from one visit to the next. The specials are great, and they frequently have coupons available... either in the local mailers or printed on the back of grocery store receipts. My husband and I routinely eat lunch there for under $13. One of my favorite things is that while the service is speedy, they are never in a hurry for you to leave. My husband and I usually go to On the Border for our Mexican cravings but discovered it is temporarily closed due to a fire. I had a hankering for fajitas tonight so we tried Bravo's. It was terrible!!! Our waiter, who could stand to lose a few pounds, was not exactly 'Johnny On the Spot' with getting our drinks or checking to make sure our food was correct. The table next to us was seated at least 10 minutes after us and they got their drinks before us from another server. When the food arrived, the lady who delivered basically tossed it onto the table, didn't say a word, and left in a hurry. The fajita steak was poor quality meat and extremely salty and greasy, and there were more onions than meat. My rice was cold and there was no shredded cheese like the menu advertises. The tortillas were tiny and store bought; not something I would expect from a traditional Mexican restaurant. Also, my husband ordered a steak quesadilla with no onions and no bell peppers; the dam thing had chunks of onion the size of my fist, not to mention bell peppers as well. We might have told our waiter that there were mistakes with our order, but he didn't show up until at least 15 minutes after our food arrived. When he did finally show up, we asked for the check and some more iced tea; the waiter reached across my plate and grabbed my glass, talk about rude. Let me start off my saying I'm pretty critical when it comes to Mexican food and I must say this place is tasty! My favorite is the amigo nachos, with fresh avocado, chicken, chorizo, pico, cheese dip, jalapeño's, and much more. They are by far the best nachos I've ever had! This restaurant came recommended by some people i know. I must say as a Latino this has got to be one of THE WORST Mexican Restaurants in the area. To be specific, we had ordered Enchiladas, the chicken was charred. You would think the burned flavored chicken would be the only thing wrong with this dish however the tortilla was almost raw and only cooked from the bottom (as they quickly heat up the plate in the oven). The Ground beef in the burrito was stale and also some what burned. It seemed like they tried to hide it with the mountain of queso on top of it. Unless you were planning on heading specifically to this restaurant, it would be easy to miss. There is very little on the exterior that catches the eye. The interior, however, is colorful, spacious, and inviting. The waitstaff is incredibly friendly and attentive. The food is reasonably priced and portions are considerable (be prepared to bring some home!). I'll start this review off with: this is the type of place it looks like. Very run of the mill Americanized mexican food. I came into town this past weekend for a work event and after a long day my college friends wanted to pop in and grab dinner. I went here once last year and I had a great experience. I recently went in during lunch hours before running errands. What a welcome retreat! Although it was seating for one, I was escorted to a cozy booth and within minutes there were fresh chips, salsa and dip at my table. My waitress was prompt and attentive. I work in Cary and occasionally make it to Bravo's for lunch. It's a friendly, casual spot in one of the many, many, many Cary strip malls. For me, Bravo's is the more desirable cousin of the nearby Los Tres Magueyes. Their lunch specials are cheap and large portions. Specifically, I've noticed that I like their chicken and their cheese a bit better than Los Tres. The service has been really good and accommodating regardless of the size of our party. I could have done without the lettuce and the sour cream on top, but that's not a big deal. My wife had the lunch special #8, and she enjoyed her chicken quesadilla. Interior is nice, had some interesting art work and decor, seemed pretty clean. cons: food was "meh". tamale was 99% thick masa, there was like a speck of meat in them.
