The chicken at Brazas is very good and extremely cheap (you can get an entire roast chix here for little or nothing, so bring the whole family), but what we crave and the reason we keep returning is: CEVICHE. I am a slave to excellent ceviche, and that is what you will find here. They give you an enormous portion and it comes with these amazing, giant crunchy roasted corn kernels. I love them so much that I just order an extra side of them. The other reviewers are correct about the service, though. It is unhurried and unconcerned. The guys (which they invariably are), are smiling and friendly, but they will get to you when they get to you. The ceviche is totally worth the wait, though. It's something different and I like that. You honestly can't ask for a better value. We usually order a whole chicken and take lot's of it home. It' s moist and flavorful not dried out junk. They marinate it in citrus juices. It's a neighborhood restaurant so you have to hunt for it but it' worth it. I drive all the way from Dr. Phillips for the food. We have went to Brazas chicken several times over the past few years; but, haven't made it back in over a year. It is obvious there are new owners in the place. Our favorite dish -- The Super Combo Whole Chicken has gone up in price and down in portion size. We always got tostones and this time it only came with 6. We have a family of 4 and we used to have enough for everyone to get a few. It really didn't matter as these weren't the homemade type they used to be. They were hard and not edible. Each person took about 2 bites and threw the rest away. They also used to have a wonderful chimichiri sauce (I'm probably spelling it wrong) that was green and homemade. I remember askince once what was in it; but, they wouldn't tell us because it was a homemade recipe and kept secret. I'm pretty certain they didn't disclose the recipe to the new owners as this sauce was nothing like what we were used to. We also got the rice and beans -- a super combo is supposed to feed 4 people; but, they gave us rice and beans for one person. It was a really pathetic serving amount. When I questioned the owner he said that's they size they always gave which infuriated us because we have eaten there several times with positive results. The chicken was still good as was the salad; but, the serving size and other elements of the meal took a huge downward spiral. We won't be back. read more

My husband had been talking about this place for days so we finally decided to try it and I am so glad we did! When we first sat down I was a little skeptical because it was a small place with odd music playing on the TVs. Also, there weren't many options on the menu...it was mainly fish and 1/2 or 1/4 chicken combo meals. I don't eat fish and I'm not a fan of dark meat, so I was a little disappointed at first. We ordered the potatoes in cheese sauce as an appetizer, which was delicious. We wound up each ordering the 1/4 chicken meals with tostones for me and red beans and rice for him. The meals each came with a salad and drinks for a little over $8 and everything was amazing. The chicken had generous portions of white meat, which I was very happy about, and the skin had so much flavor and was a little crispy on the outside from being roasted to perfection. There are some awesome sauces that come to each table for dipping meats and various things too. The only downside was that they were brought to the table before our appetizer, but weren't explained to us until our entrees came out. When they were set down, we of course started tasting them ourselves and came across a VERY spicy sauce that we weren't expecting at all. It would have been nice to know what was what when they set it down to avoid the burning tongues. Overall, the staff was very friendly and attentive. We never had to ask for refills or wait around for our waiter to come check on us. With an appetizer, two entrees, two drinks, and a dessert, our bill was just under $30. I visited this restaurant and the food was delicious. The staff was courteous and sweet. It is inside a plaza so parking is never a problem. The price is reasonable for the amount of food they serve. Excellent food, great and friendly service, fast service, and very affordable. This is going to sound weird, but other than the ceviche, my favorite things here are the sauces and dressings (haha). It comes with a number of different sauces to dip it in, each of which are really good, ranging from mild to spicy. If you want a salad that is a good choice as well. Pretty simple. Lettuce tomato, avocado. Portions are large. Pricing is moderate. Not cheap but very reasonable for what you get. Nice little spot to catch up with family or maybe as a date place nice but not too fancy and intense. My wife and I finally tried this place a few nights ago and I am afraid it will probably be our only visit. They began by bringing out some roasted corn for the table. While the roasted corn is a tasty snack it is kind of a weird substitute for bread or a pre-appetizer type thing. We wanted to order a glass of wine. Well they have four choices and they were out of the merlot, so we gave the rose' a try. It was rather sweet but tasty, but we wished they had a few more choices for wine at least. Then, we started with the ceviche which was just large strips of tilapia and a few slivered onion slices drowned in lime juice and salt and sprinkled with some more of the roasted corn. The fish was fresh enough and the portion was huge, but as ceviche goes it was kind of bland. We are used to ceviche having smaller diced fish and usually some shrimp or other seafood as well as some diced onion and peppers or other veggies for texture in a citrus dressing with some parsley or cilantro. Bottom line, it was okay but not up to our expectations at all. On to the entree, we ordered the super chicken combo to share but requested we skip the hot dogs in with the french fries since this sounded weird to us. So the chicken comes out with beans and rice, plantains and steak fries. The steak fries are simple steak fries 101 and just okay. The beans were about 75% soup/juice and a little bit of pinto beans. The rice is plain white rice cooked okay. The chicken has kind of a tasty flavor but was so salty it was kind of overwhelming. The sauces they bring out are tasty but can't really salvage the saltiness of the chicken. We both had an upset stomach from our meal there so I doubt I would go back here. As much as I wanted to like this place I can't really recommend this place. I will say the service was good but since we go to a restaurant to eat food even great service can't make up for mediocre to bad food. read more

The chicken is luscious. The hot Huacatay, (you can get it mild too), and Chimchurri sauces are always fresh and delicious and compliments the chicken perfectly. The maduros and tostones are up there with some of the best I've had. The service is very friendly and accommodating and the place is clean. I haven't tried any of the other dishes because I'm crazy about the chicken, but what I've seen coming out of the kitchen looks divine. Just ate here with the family. Ordered the Super combo with an extra 1/2 chicken (because my Athletic, basketball playing daughters eat like dudes ). So much food and so delicious! We are huge fans of charcoal chicken and try to eat it in different cities we visit. This didn't disappoint. Service was super fast and friendly. The only draw back was the portion of beans and rice was small and they were so delicious we wanted more! The table behind us asked for more and they brought them. Not sure if they charge extra or just include more. Will have to ask next time! The sauces were yummy too,although not the typical Peruvian sauces we have gotten before. Love Brazas, go back every time I am in Orlando. My family and I stumbled upon Brazas Chicken about 8 years ago when I went to UCF. We were blown away from our first moment there. The service is excellent, and the food is definitely worthy of the drive over, not matter where you are in Orlando. The sauces are all homemade and authentic, the seasonings are prefect to every one of their meats and they have beer and wine to enjoy with your meals as well. This hole in the wall is known for its chicken (which is really good) but I think that their ceviche is an overlooked gem. A large portion of tender mixed seafood, mostly shrimp and octopus, served with or without tostones. A side of black beans and rice was really great, too, even reheated the next day. This place is about the best I have gone to.. But the service is absolutely HORRENDOUS.. I have been coming to this restaurant for literally 4 yrs and service goes down every time i go.. I love the original servers but holy crap the new ones and bad bad and needless to say they don't give a crap.. I had a party of 4 and we requested to be seated by one of the tv's which table was for 6 (hence every server i know has NEVER had a problem seating my family there) until this Puerto Rican server REFUSED to sit us there.. Here comes the best part 10mins later a family of 4 came and guess where there were seated.... Yup you are correct on the table for 6ppl. Food: food is amazing but they take a yr and a half to be served... I understand is busy and what not... But either hire another chef or bring another server to take care of customers. Took them literally 20mins to bring our drinks. The little appetizer that they bring (cancha and salsas) well people if you finish with the little bit of cancha they bring dont even bother asking for more... Is $2 for another little bitty bowl of cancha.. Dont get me wrong the restaurant is amazing AMAZING food, but service and servers need to change their attitude, and be more happy to have people in... Without clients the restaurant would close and therefore they will get fired... Just a thought. read more

Decent chicken, interesting sauces, ok prices. I have been wanting to try this place for awhile, and it was good, but not as good as the other ratings suggested. I ordered the half chicken--it was juicy and well seasoned. The sauces were interesting, but none blew me away. After dinner we ordered churros--the caramel sauce drizzled on the plate was tasty, but the churros did not quite hit the spot. What a surprise this little gem was. I can't believe it took us so long to try it. We ordered a combo which included chicken, rice, beans, salad, fries, plantains. Plenty of food. I am also gluten free, and was informed that the spice on the the chicken isn't completely gluten free, i didn't eat the skin of the chicken and had no issues. I'm sensitive but not too sensitive to gluten. The chicken was so moist and tasty. All of the sides were good. Service was great. Will definitely make this a regular stop.
