This is a must do in Santa Fe. Amazing selection of freshly made breads and baked goods, plus a well-curated mini market. I loved the savory scone but everything my family tried was delicious! Very friendly and welcoming staff. The coffee drinks were great and are served in ceramic mugs that are made by the potter who has her own business next door. If I lived in Santa Fe, I would absolutely be a regular.

You CANNOT miss Bread Shop when in Santa Fe. They have the best breads, (perfect at home throughout the week) and truly the best brownie I've ever had. The focaccia is also a must. Basically, get the whole menu. The indoor and outdoor seating space is awesome and everyone working is cheery and helpful. Be sure to get a coffee and stay for a while!!

Deliciously dangerous--I've never had a bad carb here. Sandwiches are not only delicious but also quite substantial.

Service is pretty snotty, mark-up on "market" items is nearly comical, and the breads and treats are only OK. Faaaar better bakeries in SF.

Sooooo tasty! I had special focaccia of the day (Chile, potato, and cheese) and it was divine. Perfectly crunchy and moist.

This shop may have the best bread in Santa Fe. Worth the trip. Dip it in some olive oil, or spread some creamy butter on it.

Updating after trying the focaccia, which was bigger than I thought and also the best focaccia I've ever had.

But I was wrong! I emailed to ask and Marcel told me not to worry. The galette Bretonne is made from buckwheat and several of the lunch entrees are also gluten-free. Huzzah! We split the galette Bretonne - a buckwheat crepe filled with ham and cheese and topped with a sunny side up egg. Savory and delicious! Next, we split the cassoulet - a duck confit leg quarter, Toulouse sausage, pork belly, and carrots nestled into a bed of white beans and herbs with a side of sourdough and French butter. Oh my word, it was fabulous! And I didn't have to share the sourdough, mwaaaahahahaha!

The place is popular, especially given very high quality of pastry products and the line is often a bit long (given so many locals/tourists stop by this place)...and simply..the place is one of the best pastry shops in Santa Fe. Parking is a little limited in their own parking lot and the shop is sort of crowded, but you can always park on a street outside (albeit some small parking fees). Overall, I really enjoyed the pastries here...although I think the drink (I got matcha latte...true, true, matcha latte isn't much of a western drink..so maybe I'm wrong to judge a restaurant by this drink) wasn't so much of my highlights. I would, definitely recommend this place for pastries for sure though!

I…read moreimagine that there's been a few ownership and La Fonda relationship changes, but inside my limited memory, the place pretty much looks and feels the same. I stopped in last week and ordered a black forest cake slice to go. I was thinking that a little sugar with coffee in the morning was good. I also knew that Gayle wouldn't snack on it as she doesn't like fruit and chocolate mixed together in a dessert. The "to-go" line was a little slow, mostly due to a combination of chatter and specialty coffee drink preparation. But I wasn't much in a hurry. And once that was out of the way, the transaction proceeded smoothly, including a nice box to carry it home.

Walking the streets of Old Town Santa Fe, you wouldn't think this is possible. But sit down in front of the large fire place, order the quiche or sandwich of your choice. We loved the flaking of the quiche pastry and savoriness of the fillings. We also had Croque Madam and baguette sandwich with the onion soup. We enjoyed the personal touch of our server who made us feel like regulars coming to visit a long-time friend at work. We couldn't leave until we had a box full of pastries to try later and it was all we could do to not consume them all in one sitting. Thanks for the comforting afternoon.
