To be honest, my friend wanted to eat here, but I wanted pho. Then it turned out the pho place was too busy, so I came back here - and I'm incredibly happy I did. This was one of my favorite meals in New Mexico. You sit at the counter, and the Owner is a one man show - he greets you, takes your order, then goes and prepares it in the kitchen. This was handy because he could answer my questions about dairy in the tomato soup (just a little). I ended up getting the tuna melt with tomato soup and it was wonderful. The soup was thick and tasty, and the sandwich was out of this world. Piled high with tuna, and lots of cheese, on thick, delicious, sourdough (?) bread. It was so filling, that I ended up eating the insides off the piece of bread. My friend had a combo mac and cheese, and wasn't blown away, but maybe she just put together the wrong combo. I was in the mood for something other than Mexican food and Mac & Cheese sounded like just the ticket. When we arrived at Mac Santa Fe, we were the only patrons. We sat at the bar and the owner was the only one behind the counter. There were only a few tables inside the restaurant, but there were more just outside in the interior section of the mall area. A roomy diner-like bar was great. He greeted us, took our orders, prepared the food, and brought it out to us, all while smiling and greeting others who came by to look at the menu. I couldn't quite decide on what to get, so I ordered the small portion of two different types: Mushroom & Truffle and Shrimp Scampi. My bestie ordered the Tuna Melt with the tomato soup and she loved it. Mine was very good. I appreciate that the owner was kind enough to let me mix two different ones. Mac needs to ooey gooey cheesy goodness and to many times there isn't enough cheese and it is dry lacking even the basic salt. But not at Mac Santa Fe. We ordered the one pound container to split and it was the perfect amount for two. We chose the Santa Fe Mac, it was pasta cooked to al dente, just the way we like it, topped with a crunchy bread topping, it had roasted green chile and Monterey and Cheddar cheese. I have two young daughters, so when I found Mac Santa Fe I knew I would score brownie points with them... It's a sit-down restaurant in an indoor mall with mostly mac and cheese dishes. On June 26, 2024, we ordered: + 2 sodas ($6) + Billy the Kid grilled cheese with tomato soup ($22) + Green Chile grilled cheese with tomato soup ($20) + Large lobster mac ($36)! So good... We had leftovers to take to our next destination. Our guy gave me a bottled water on the house. Both employees we interacted with were super friendly and quick to get our order out. I just wished our grilled cheeses weren't grilled so long. The slightly burned taste was there. This place is small, but humble. If you're new to Santa Fe, New Mexico, come here for the Zozobra artwork. The Four Corners flags on the ceiling. The quirky Breaking Bad picture and other oddities scattered throughout. The code-accessed restrooms were a short walk nearby in the same building. I parked in the lot across the street. It was $4 for 2 hours. (June 2025) After my wife and I arrived here from Albuquerque and checked into our hotel, it was lunchtime. As we walked by Mac Santa Fe, we said "sure, why not?" I got the Baconator grilled cheese with potato chips ($19) and my wife got the Ham & Cheese grilled cheese ($16) plus the tomato soup ($4). Both sandwiches were so good and filling. You will love it and you will save money by using less cheese and you will make a better product. The sandwich had some old ass chicken on it. It tasted old and it should have been tossed out way before going on my sandwich. But go ahead and convince yourself that is it ok. Okay, so I thought the sandwiches were a bit pricey but my friend had eaten at another restaurant that specialized in grilled cheese snd she said they could be worth it. So we went there and she ordered a grilled cheese with jalapeños, sriracha, and chorizo. It was stuffed with chorizo and she was happy. I, on the other hand, ordered the macaroni and cheese which I thought had a great price point, It had chorizo and bacon and it was very cheesy plus had a great cracker-like topping. So nice, I did it twice! I had some time to kill downtown and ventured into this spot. The first night, I had grilled cheese with tomato soup and drunken riced pudding. Absolutely delicious! At the end of our trip, my husband and I went back and shared the HUMONGOUS "small" mac and cheese with shrimp. There was a bit of a mix-up when the meal came out. Ordered takeout from here on Friday. Called in my order and it took more time to walk over here from the train than it took for the order to be prepared (less than 10 minutes). It is back in part of the strip mall, unassuming, and has several tables in the middle of the mall. There is quite the variety on the menu for anyone who loves mac n'cheese. Originally, I thought about going with the sampler (3 smalls for $26), but I'm glad I settled on the small shrimp scampi mac ($9.75). The owner was friendly and greeted me when I arrived, as he whipped up a batch of mac n'cheese. It came in an aluminum tin, still hot from the oven. I saved it for when I got home. Even in the microwave, the cheese pull on it was incredible. The small made up about 2 medium-sized portions for me, and had over 20+ shrimp in the dish alone. The garlic smell was powerful coming from the box, but overall didn't have a super strong garlic flavor and possibly could've used something else to spice it up a little more, but the breadcrumbs added the perfect touch. 2023 #35 read more

This is my new favorite place. Theo the owner was so friendly. We chatted about various things. While we waited 10 minutes for our order, he brought out a sample of his rice pudding that was still warm from the stove. Phil was also very friendly and welcoming. The Carbonara Mac was delicious. I loved the perfectly toasted breadcrumbs on top. When you take a bite, the cheese is stretching from your dish to your mouth. A 2# large is only $11. Great bargain. So while on vacation I never eat anything cold or sandwiches. It's 100% eat out. So of course while in NM it's usually all about the green chili. Well I came across an advertisement in the newspaper, yes I said newspaper that was provided by our Hotel while drinking some coffee while planning our day. So I called to make sure of thier location and that they were handicap accessible as he said they were garden level of the shops in the Plaza. Which was a big plus. When arrived we noticed it was kind of small with only a couple of round tables and a bartop to sit at but the gentleman said no problem we could use both of the two tables for our party of 4 . He walked us thru the menu and made sure we had no questions. Very accommodating. My wife and I opted for Sandwiches and my Father and Stepmother went for the Mac and cheese. This was such a good choice for lunch. The sandwiches were the bomb. The bacon on my sandwich was cooked perfectly and were placed on some awesome Texas toast. The chili was not hot but gave it a nice accent. I'm not a huge macaroni salad fan but I did eat all of mine and probably would have eaten a little more if there would have been more. All I know is if you have the opportunity to try this place please do the staff all 2 of them are such nice ppl and they are truly there to satisfy thier guests. And after hearing them talk to a couple of guests that came in while we were there you are not thier customers you really are thier guests.
