I was so excited to find this bakery that sounded so amazing. I put in a small order for sourdough bread and pastries. We paid for local delivery since they are only a few miles from our home. It has been three days now without a single word from the bakery. I don't know where our order is, or if it is even being filled. We are leaving the city tomorrow (four days after our order) for a week to help out family dealing with Covid, so at this point I think we threw our money away. Communication is essential. I signed up for email alerts, text messages, and Facebook messenger . . . and STILL have received NO information from them. So VERY frustrating, especially for what should be such a simple order. :( read more

FYI... this is an office with a small batch of bread available for sale, cash-only, to the retail public. This is not a cafe. They sell bread to some stores nearby, including sandwich rolls at Whole Foods. They apparently lack a retail location now that the Century City location is closed. I live close by and was hoping to leave with some awesome brotchen and small rolls for breakfast this past Sunday. The woman working there was very nice. They should claim their Yelp page and update it so people have a better idea of what this is. I did leave with a loaf of sourdough bread since I didn't want to leave empty handed. Tried them at a farmers market. Pricier than Tartin and stale. I think they just bring leftovers from the day before as everything we had was stale and pretty bland. Maybe their primary bakery is good but avoid them at farmers markets. read more

Amazing place with quality baked goods. They don't include any additives to their recipes and that's why the shelf life the their breads are shorter. Breadbar is a great local bakery and I'm thankful they were one of the few places that figured out a way to stay open during the pandemic. read more

As we are from Germany and love good "germanstyle" bread (what is really hard to find) I thought it's worth a try to drive all the way up and taste the Breadbar. We bought croissant, blueberry sweet, sugar brioche, olive bread and 3 different breads. The only place I have found canele locally, but be sure to come in on a Saturday morning, as they are not sold during the week. These are perfect with fresh espresso, and make a delicious and decadent Saturday morning breakfast. Parking is easy getting into the tiny lot, but difficult getting out. We "sniffed in" on this vendor at the Laguna Niguel Farmer's Market on a Sunday. We've recently tried and fallen head over heels for the CANELE pastry (Frenchie). It is a phenomenal dessert if you've never tried it. This one has some char via the torch, a firm exterior, a slight crispness (also via the torch) yet is moist inside. The interior features a soft delicate custard with an outer caramelized crust. "Addicting" may be the understatement of the decade for Frenchie pastry lovers. This is the best canele we've had so far. Their ALMOND CROISSANT is a big beast and accompanied my home Euro-brew (bold dark yet smoother java) very well. This is moderately sweet with more of a light, flaky and airy consistency. There is a medium amount of almond paste inside which makes it less dense than others I've had. It isn't overly moist given this lesser amount of paste but it is quite tasty. There is a lightER to medium almond flavor with a light dusting of powdered sugar on the exterior. A surplus of toasted almonds are on the exterior and help make this pastry. The pricing is pretty high but the quality is very good here. read more

It's a small bakery you can stop by and grab some bread and pastries. I still think that their baked goods are delicious even though I noticed some changes in their making. My old favorite, the almond croissant has less filling inside of it and its texture isn't as amazing as before. It's the reason I called it my old favorite. Their scones got smaller and its taste had been changed completely. My current favorites are strawberry scones and white chocolate scone. I would recommend you to stop by when if you are nearby LAX. read more

You will pass this place up if you aren't looking hard. The only thing to identify it is a small "A" frame sign they put out front when they are open. When you walk in you will feel like you walked into an office. There is a display case but also people working at desks. Don't let that scare you off. I'm guessing they sell wholesale to restaurants that want higher end baked goods. They have some damn good bread. I made a burger at home using their brioche and sandwiches with ciabatta. The bread made them so much better. The sweets are awesome too. I want to shovel the chocolate croissants into my face until I die fat and happy. One of the very nice ladies that works there tossed in a chocolate baguette into my large pile of baked goods I was buying. Wasn't too sure how that would taste. The baguette was soft with tons of chocolate chips and it was made softer by my tears of joy. I wanted to go back and slap her for showing me how awful the rest of the food in the world is. They don't always have all the items available right then. I have gone on a limb and tried things I normally wouldn't care for, like fig bread, and I haven't regretted it. I moved to El Segundo about a year ago and was looking for a local bakery. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was one just down the street from me! It's the actual wholesale bakery but they also sell retail. All their breads are amazing especially the baguette and the multigrain. And the almond croissants and cinnamon rolls are to die for. When covid hit I feared that they might shut down or at least not offer retail sales any longer. To their credit they set up a tent outside and essentially offer drive-thru. So innovative! Not only are their baked goods amazing but the staff is stellar. Jackie is the sweetest and Bruno's very customer focused. It's clear that he wants to insure that his customers have a good experience. if you have a large order or know what you want in advance the best thing to do is to order online by 10:00 a.m. the day before. I picked up 6 various pieces of bread at the El Segundo location. They ranged from meh to below average. Half the pieces were pale and underbaked. Pale is ok in a sourdough, but not most other breads. The taste was not there at all, except for the pumpernickel. Speaking of which, I saw the pumpernickel, and asked how many rye breads they had. The seller said none. I then pointed to the pumpernickel, and asked "not even in this?" and the seller repiled "no". hmmmm. I hope it's cuz the seller didn't know, rather than that they're passing off wheat-only bread as pumpernickel, with a dark color and oats on type like so many other pumpernickels I've seen. The bread did not taste fresh. It tasted day-old or two-day-old. Overall, the quality was was below what I expected. If you have a sign outside saying "breadcraft breadpassion", it shouldn't be this quality level. The only thing that matched the bakestudio name was the price. They're cash only as well, but with the prices, it wouldn't hurt them to get credit card payment set up, since you pass $10 with 3 pieces of bread. The parking at this location is very meager. only 4 spots in front, with only part of the sidewalk sloping down to the street, the rest is curb. Will not be back. read more

Amazing pastries at wholesale prices!! I tried the blueberry muffins, which were amazing, and onion rolls - perfect for a burger! It's a small little place that mostly does catering, but they have a small display case as soon as you walk in the door. There is a little bell to ring and someone will promptly come and find you. If you're trying to find this place, it is RIGHT on the intersection of Sierra and El Segundo Blvd. There is sometimes a tiny A-frame sign placed in their parking lot that says "The Bread Bar", but I haven't always seen it. There is a small parking lot in front, but it's easier to just park on Sierra. The front door is slightly reflective and has "701" on it, but nothing written about what business it is. Just trust me and walk in :) Friendly staff and amazing pastries. I will definitely be back and recommending to others! read more

Awful; the bread we bought was stale or from yesterday. Also overpriced! And them selling it now on the streetcorner with all the dirty dust from the street falling on the bread, can't be hygenic. Also, the person who is selling it, she seems on the edge. She was yelling and screaming at a customer in front of us, that she is working her "a..." off. She is selling old bread on the corner of a street, how is that working her "a.." off, lol. Obviously this person does't now what hard work is. I didn't take a photo of the whole cannelle cause I was dying to eat into it and it certainly did not disappoint! It was a stupendously delicious French pastry. A nice caramelized exterior and a moist chew interior with a perfect degree of sweetness. read more

This review is for their performance at Camarillo Farmer's Market. From the low inventory and the lack of freshness when it comes to their produce ,you can guess this is not fresh baked goods sold at the Farmer's Market.They probably use the Farmer's Market in Camarillo as their outlet mall where they can sell their not-so-fresh produce. I've tried their bread every time and it's stale.Also bought bear claws and chocolate croissants-not worth it. The only good product is a pastry called "KOUIGN of Hollywood" but it's ridiculously small for $3 or $4. Even so,they only bring a few of them and most of the time they are sold out. While other of their pastry suck,the only stellar product they bring it in small quantities. It seems like every one like those so even a 3 year old could figure it out to stock on those when they come to the FM. But they don't do this because like I said ,they sell only few days old bakery items what it's left at their shop. For the money they charge it should be fresh and if you know this Saturday you were sold out on Kouign of Hollywood bring more next time! So with all the great reviews I was pretty excited to try this place. But wow was I sorely disappointed. The place itself is tiny, barely room for 3 people to stand. It's clean though, and the lady behind the counter was polite. Now on to the disappointment. I don't mind day old pastry but the price needs to match what it is. I just picked up 3 little croissants and one loaf of sourdough and the total was $12.50. That's pretty close to what you'd pay at a fresh bakery. The croissants tasted a day old, and the sourdough was a dense brick. Now, if I'd gotten out of there for about $5, I would think it was decent, but at $12.50, it was a total ripoff. Price has got to match quality. What a bummer since this place is walking distance for me. If I want croissants in the morning it's going to be Starbucks or The Donut. The bread is very good here. They are open until 3:00 ( I thinK). It is the physical location where they make the bread, so it is always fresh. The lot is small, so you have to park on the street. The fig bread is my favorite. read more

Tried them at the Westchester farmers market. So disappointed. Everything looked good, but the two pastries we purchased for $9 were a real letdown. The pain au chocolate was so bad we didn't even finish it. It was old, stale, and tasted like they used frozen croissant dough. Probably the worst croissant I've ever had. Stopped in here at 2pm, so it was late in the day. They had an ok supply left - a couple olive loaves, 1 sourdough, 1 cheese, and some rolls. I bought an olive loaf, and it was decent. I've definitely had better. It was flat like ciabatta and dense. Not many air bubbles inside or the shiny chewiness that I like in a good loaf of crusty bread. The flavor was fine. Service wasn't friendly but wasn't rude either. It's a bit hard to find. When you walk in, there's a small counter case with bread and then offices. Feels like you're walking into someone's office - really quiet and awkward. Def. not good enough for a return stop, but it was ok to try once. Maybe first dibs on the fresh bread earlier in the day would yield a better experience. I just wasn't impressed with the interior of the olive loaf. read more
