During a nice Saturday lunch at a nearby pho place, Cicitos Bakery caught my eye. I instantly went to Yelp to find out about this place and was surprised to see only two reviews and that they were written so far apart. When I walked in, they had several different pan dulce treats: from sugar cookies to sweet and savory empanadas. I got the sweet empanadas. There were three different kinds of sweet empanadas: pineapple, guava and cream filled. I was surprised at the awesome price of these sweet empanadas...they were...drumroll please: 3 for a $1. What a deal! (I noticed they also had empanadas for meat. These are a $1 a piece.) I tried the cream filled empanada first. The outer was pink and had the texture of Mexican cookies. The sweet filling was nice and creamy. I liked that it wasn't to sweet. When I tried the guava filled empanada, I decided to heat it up and microwaving it for 20 seconds did wonders for this treat. Heating up the guava empanada made it super soft and yummy. The guava filling was sweet and fruity. The pineapple filled empanada was flavorful and tasty. It's similar to the guava one in terms of sweetness. All of these sweet empanadas matched well with a cup of coffee. It's a great little treat for breakfast or a snack. Out of all the three types of empanadas, I liked the cream filled the best. It had the cookie like crust and the cream made it different from the fruit filled ones. This little bakery has good treats for good prices! I'm surprised with the lack of reviews and lack of people. People are missing out on some good stuff :). read more

The employees who took my order they're horrible and charge me extra without letting me know. They don't have exact change and I would not recommend coming here for the bad service. Seems this bakery is not longer in operation. I stopped by yesterday hoping to find a guava pastry for my mom, only to find they were closed at 6:25pm. Both Yelp and Google stated that this bakery was open and in no way closed for business. read more

I should've took pictures but I didn't.. this place looks unassuming and ran down from the outside.... man slide inside I got three items pineapple pocket deal,a turnover with cream and a apple turnover of sorts they were all good. Stopped in to check out their bakery items only to find out they accept cash only, despite their yelp page specifying that they accept other forms of payment. So the gentleman put the 3 small tarts back in the case. It ocurred to me as I left that it would have been nice had he given me one for my trouble, but he did not. So I went back another day with cash. It's always nice to get a greeting when entering a business, but don't expect that here. A young woman was stocking shelves and turned to look at me and looked away. A different man (elderly this time) was behind the counter and no greeting or smile from him either. The pineapple tart was very bland and did not at all taste like pineapple. The custard tart was better, although I can't say I was a fan of the crust. The inside is shabby, and there are no signs identifying the items in the case and their price. I won't be back. read more

We were in the area and the bf also had a sweet tooth craving for some pastries, so of course we checked this place out. They have sweet empanadas. We got the guava and pineapple filled ones. I've tried savory empanadas before and I'm just not a fan of the sweet ones. My bf enjoyed them but I felt the sweetness of the fillings was too much for me. Prices here are pretty cheap. Small bakery next to Saigon Dish which we frequent about once per week, the staff is always friendly and the selection of Mexican pastries is always good, the prices are less than many of the other compeeting panderias. This bakery is located a couple of doors away form the Saigon Dish Restaurant. I stopped by to pick up a couple of items to go. In short the quality is lacking with somewhat unpleasant after taste. When you're eating it, it kind of reminds me of home cooked goods and it's not bad but there's a slightly chalky and bland after taste, I'd prefer more flavorful-bread kind of aftertaste. This place looks like they're either just setting up or going through a slow death as the offerings were sparse and interior didn't look complete. There was steady customer traffic however. One big plus is the low low price. read more

The baked goods are extremely dry! I feel deceived, they look so yummy but beware. Everything is very cheep I really don't understand how this place makes any money at all. The two stars are for the looks of the goods and for the nice lady that works up front. read more

Just visited last night and spoke to a very friendly lady running the bakery by herself. The meat filled puff pastry is very similar to the Vietnamese version I've had before. As mentioned in an earlier post it could use more filling but is extremely flaky and light. I have to comment on one thing I noticed about the baked goods - basically it appears that they use very little lard (or whatever makes the crust greasier) which makes the pastries much more palatable. This results in a much lighter and flakier pastry crust which does not leave an oily coating on the roof of your mouth. Their small strawberry, vanilla and pineapple tarts were excellent. I recommend the vanilla one especially. Their Napoleon was very large and flaky with a great flavor. I didn't try the Guatemalan bread but that is something to get on my next trip. Everything was not overly sweet which is a huge plus. Oh and the prices were EXCELLENT. This place will become a regular visit for us now. read more

I love their meat filled pastry. It can use more filling at times! They go great with a dash of lime or lemon, hot sauce and a soda.

I'd give this place NEGATIVE stars if I could. Absolutely the worst customer service. Honestly, it seems to be staffed by people who just hate interacting with people and are miserable in general. Worst and unfriendly service I've experienced in a business!! Didn't want to accept large bills for purchases or didn't have change. What a pathetic ownership!!! The bread here is made fresh and I can tell the bread uses great materials since it doesn't leave a bad after taste after eating it. The bread has great taste. When you walk in there is always that scent of bread being made and it's always warm and toasty. Now the thing is that they doesn't accept credit or debit but I can see why. Upon talking to one of the cashiers there, he explained that the owners try to keep everything old fashioned as possible and don't want to have to deal with the whole credit system. They get asked a lot about it credit that they get tired of asking they have put up a sign saying "no credit cards and Cash Only." And honestly with the great prices they offer there really isn't much to complain about and I can see their stance on credit cards. Now when I was there I did notice that the customer service was a bit harsh. But that was due to the customers asking very obvious questions and even acting a bit annoying to the cashier. When it was my turn I kept my order simple and the guy who took my order was helpful. And even had a great conversation on music and bread! Will definitely come back here again after eating Pho! warning!! the worst customer service!!! I went in there all excited was not even greeted the lady had a seriouse face!!! I was getting ready to order, when i asked do you accept credit cards? she responded with a nasty attitude no!!!i was like oh nooo are you ever gonna accept cc she responded "never" I was only jk... small store.. no a variety. I decided to suck it up and let it go... however last week we introduced my family member to saigon dish... as we passed through the bakery my sister in law decides to pop in to the bakery and check it out, and shes like after lunch will come back the man got all upset and we all looked at each other...and she responded by saying nevermind!!!
