I must really be missing something here. I rarely write negative reviews, but I just didn't have a good experience here at all. I called in an order of 5 or so sandwiches, and then a few pretzels and dips. When I arrived they handed me the order and said they had run out of one of the 3 dips we requested, so they put an extra of something else in. That was odd to me, because they didn't ask what other dip we might want, they just put something else in there. OK, whatever, no problem. There were another couple of weird customer service type things that happened, but no big deal. Anyways, I got home with the take out order, and two of the sandwiches were missing. When I called in they said they had the order and forgot to give it to me, and when I showed up, the bag was just on the counter with no employees to be found. So, all of that was kind of weird. But the food was fine. I thought the chicken salad sandwich and the dips were all pretty flavorless, but my friends really liked the turkey avocado sandwich. The pretzels were good, and only $1 on happy hour, and the bagels/cream cheese were also quite good. All in all, the food was a 3, service took it down a bit. read more

Great bread and coffee! But the two big items not on the menu but doled out as you order and pay are snobbery and pretense with a pinch of rudeness. A smile, a kind word, a simple hello will get you at best a blank stare. Forget a question like Is there butter on that? Must be a skill the staff is trained to perfect. I've been meaning to get to Breadhive for a while. I've been following their Instagram for over year and I just love that cute girl who's always talking about how awesome the bread is! Well today I finally got my wish and I went to Breadhive with a friend for lunch. I ordered a lentil soup with a pretzel. My friend ordered the Fiona sandwich which came with a little side salad. Both were delicious. The soup was so fresh and full of wonderful ingredients. But the pretzel was the best pretzel I have ever had. And I would know. I've had a lot of pretzels in my lifetime. I just love Pretzels. But this pretzel-heated up and toasted-was of the best pretzel I've ever had. The salt was just perfect. I am so obsessed with this pretzel. I can't wait to go back for more. And I will be ordering another pretzel. Other than this, great outdoor seating and a few tables inside as well as window seats. I went here today for lunch, and it was amazing. I had the "Mariah" sandwich, which was a chicken salad with apple, dill, greens, mayo, and walnuts. A very unique little restaurant. All of the food is wholesome and unprocessed. The bagels and breads hang on racks right behind the front counter in plain view. A quiet and neat place. I'm not sure if I know enough positive adjectives to properly review Breadhive. I came here for the first time not too long ago and was surprised at the extensive menu and variety of breads, bagels and baked goods! I am a vegetarian and it is often difficult to find tasty, satisfying offerings. The lentil soup was possibly the best I have ever had and the bread was, well, heavenly. The atmosphere was fun and diverse, which made it very comfortable for anyone to come in and dine or pick out their selections. The service was great and everything was neat and clean. Breadhive is the total package, the whole loaf!! I personally am in love with the Cinnamon & Fig bread and I hear the scones are amazing but have not been lucky enough to get one!! A small, cozy place that feels like home. All bread is made and delivered fresh daily. They make their own cream cheese and sausage too. There are breakfast bagels from opening until 10:30am. Afterwards, there are lunch bagels. If you don't find anything you like on either menu, you can make your own! Ive tried the Brittany and the Aaliyah bagels. I'm a big Lox fan so I would say the Brittany bagel was the best! The Aaliyah is my second favorite with a housemade sausage in your classic sausage egg and cheese plus a sweet maple syrup. Ive also made my own bagel and I definitely recommend the rosemary salt bagel and the chipotle honey cream cheese. The chipotle honey cream cheese is the perfect balance between sweet and spicy. This place is definitely my go-to place for breakfast, or even just a place to catch-up with friends! Don't forget to pick up their stamp card! I made my own sandwich with a pretzel which was yummy and fresh - with tempeh bacon with BBQ sauce, greens and tomato. The tempeh was good, they should make a signature sandwich with BBQ tempeh though. I think it doesn't make sense to wrap the sandwich with paper when it's for here, it seems like a waste of paper. I ran in to check out the location, since the website and all the pictures I've seen make it look so cool. It's very clean, fresh and crisp looking both inside and out, and it definitely sticks out on that block. I love the whole esthetic, especially with all the bread hanging on the wall. When I went, there were lots of parents there I think three tables worth, and they had children with them. It was kind of nice to see that there's so many young people in the neighborhood. But anyway, the staff there was very very friendly. But it didn't seem to have much of a selection. I did go in early, but shouldnt a place that advertises brunch/breakfast and Café be open early on a Sunday? I was probably there about nine 9:45am. I asked if there were any more loaves of bread and the woman who was helping me said that they would have the bread out about 10 1030. They didn't have lots of bagel choices. I kind of like how they hang the bagels on the wall through the holes. So since I was just trying to place out for the first time, I got the basics, two plain bagels, two everything bagels. Now keep in mind I just moved here from New York City. I know good bagels.... These bagels were very fresh yes, but they're very chewy. Not like a warm just out of the oven should be either.Maybe I've just been spoiled my whole life in New York City. I know good bagels. The plain bagels even have a sour taste to them... Could they mix in sourdough? I don't know but I really did have high hopes for this place. They are also really really expensive. I got four bagels, nothing even on them, and it cost me $8.00. They're food is amazing and so are all of the people working there! Lots of vegan options. It's a great atmosphere to be in there. We were in town visiting and my grandmother (who loves to frequent local family own spots) recommended the Breadhive. We went on a Saturday morning and it was mobbed! We waited in line for about 15 minutes. We saw beautiful soft pretzels on the wall and we were in love....we bought one dozen to share with family and friends and tried the Dill Pickle Dip and it was absolutely delish. Also bought a cookie in every flavor ($2 a piece but worth it)---they were all unique flavors like Coconut Oatmeal Chia and absolutely wonderful. There were only crumbs left in the box by the time I went to go try another! We would have stayed for a cup of tea or coffee but there weren't any tables (inside or out) available. This counter service cafe is small but mighty. Their fresh menu offerings are delicious and I love that they offer kombucha to drink. This is a very quaint cafe - they only have seating for about 18 people, and it can difficult to find a seat, but it is worth the short wait. Do yourself a favor and go to this cafe! read more

The yelp reviews are great but what they don't say that this place is a sign of gentrification in a vulnerable neighborhood. The bagels are not memorable to me. I have been here twice in one week... So I am definitely a fan! The first time I went my mom and I shared the "Robyn" and the "Stevie". The Robyn was their take on a pastrami sandwich made with their own bread, Barrel + Brine beet kraut, cheese, and more! The Stevie had eggplant, hummus, and pesto! The second time I went I got there in time for the breakfast sandwiches! (10:30 is the cut-off between breakfast and lunch...no exceptions... I tried). I got the Aliyah! They make their own sausage for this sandwich and it has a little bit of maple in it. It was excellent! My only complaint was that there really wasn't too much egg on it... Could have used a little more because it was mostly bread and sausage.. But the sausage was so good it didn't bother me too much! I love the idea of this place as well that it is worker owned! The people are nice and the food was great. I discovered this place while studying for the NYS bar exam at D'youville and wanted to get out of the building for some fresh air. I walked down the road and found this place. To my surprise it was a wonderful. I am a vegetarian, so it is rare when I can bite into a sandwich. I got the Dolly, it was hearty and scrumptious. If you are wondering if you should come here, I can not recommend it more. The only downfall is the price, but nothing great in life is free. read more

Vegan bacon? What a time to be alive! I came here for lunch on the suggestion of my aunt and my tastebuds after eating their tasty bagels for months from Lexington coop. I got the Bjork sandwich which had kimchi, avocado and tempeh bacon on seeded sourdough bread. They served kombucha on tap which my aunt ordered and it was delicious, but they had our favorite juice there so my I bought that to keep my tiny human happy. We made our way through the dessert case after our yummy lunch and we weren't disappointed. My favorite was the peach pistachio thumbprint, closely followed by the ginger molasses. We finished up by ordering enough bagels, pretzels and sweets to keep us stocked for a week and a delicious cold brewed coffee. The icing on the cake was the friendly and helpful staff! read more

Had heard about BreadHive opening up a cafe in Connecticut a few weeks back, but this was the soonest we were able to get there. The wait was worth it. We ventured there for breakfast where they had a few breakfast sandwich options that are available on a bagel or a pretzel and a few pastries as well. We got a couple breakfast sandwiches one on a bagel and one on a pretzel, they did not disappoint. The maple butter on The Aaliyah sandwich was a great touch and really added that extra little something that is often missing in regular old breakfast sandwiches. We also couldn't resist the fresh blueberry lavender pecan muffins. They were perfection and so fresh that our fingers turned purple after picking at the muffin. Great music, eclectic decor, plenty of parking available, a few outside tables, etc. this place also holds a special place in my heart because they have a separate container for composting. Today was my first visit. When I pulled up I saw some people sitting on chairs on the side of the building. A little outdoor space would be a nice addition. You know how we love being outdoors during the few weeks of nice weather in Bflo. The decor is really nicely done. An excellent blend of the original tin ceiling and a few other original elements, with a creamy white wainscoting and some well done wood flooring. The counter person was pleasant and informative. I've had their sour dough bagels at Daily Planet and I know they are a little different than a classic NY style bagel but I think even more tasty. I went for a bagel but when I saw the big pretzels hanging on the wood rack, I had to have one. I asked if they could slice the pretzel and add veggie cream cheese and she said no problem. I will tell you this was delicious. Not sure if they toasted or grilled the pretzel but it had just the right amount of crispy outside and soft inside. I know I'm just describing a pretzel but it was so good it deserves a minute. It took a few minutes to prepare, but other than that It was great. I enjoyed my breakfast while making use of the free wi-fi. I guess the only problem I see is not enough seating. I'm sure it will just get busier and busier as people continue to enjoy their delicious sour dough products. read more
