Breakers is not what it used to be when it first opened up. It used to be a real pool hall. The place was filled with pool tables and pool players. Since the original owners sold it, the subsequent owners have tried to turn it into a night club... in Herndon... They removed most of the tables and crowded the few that are left together They put in dart boards that never get used, a dance floor that never gets used, karaoke, poker, and whatever else they can think of. It ends up being a loud, obnoxious, annoying place, where pool is an afterthought. Have you ever tried to play pool when someone is singing horrible karaoke? They used to charge covers, although I think they stopped. Im not paying $10 to listen to crappy bands when Im trying to play pool. The only plus over the original Breakers is that the food is slightly better. Breakers was my pool hall for about 10 years, now I avoid the place. read more

When you are in a relationship there are some things you just do. One of them is go see your S.O.'s band play. I'm lucky that my SO is in a fantastic band and so love to hear them play. However, some of the places that they play are not the greatest estabilishments i've ever been in. And i think breakers is up there on the bad scale. I was here for happy hour on a friday, and if it hadn't been for the fact it was happy hour, this place would get 2 stars. The happy hour specials were fantastic. BIG mug of domestic beers (miller, bud, etc) were only $3! ANd appetizers were half price. My friend and i split the nachos and chicken fingers. Dinner for $4? Good for me! The food was not bad, but it also wasn't that great either. The nachos could have used more "stuff" on the bottom as it ended up being a big pile of chips. My other friend got the spiniach and artichoke dip, which may have been the best choice. Definitely one of the better S&A dips i've ever had. After happy hour was over, we were forced to wait an hour until the "power hour". from 8-9 bottled beers were a buck! I even bought a round for the band! Definitely a good deal Lots of pool tables and darts and dorky men here. Great odds if you're a single girl! The place has reccently gone through part of a rennovation as there were still some spots without paint or decorations, but overall it wasn't that bad. Happy Hour deals are definitely worth the visit. $14 for 2 big beers, some nachos and $4 bottled beers? Thats a definite happy hour! read more

I used to come here when I lived in VA. I've been to a lot of pool halls and other places, but nothing beats this. Live bands and Djs and a huge stage, and two levels of billiard tables. The only think I have no recollection of is the food quality. Other than that, the manager David is one of the kindest person you'll ever meet. read more

An awful empty place with bad karaoke, disorganized management and rude and psychopath face control guy, that kept going after me, offending me and saying how much "he hates me" and "disrespects me" because I haven't presented my ID even though at the beginning they let me in!!! If you're looking for a pool hall/bar, you could do a lot worse than Breakers. It's a solid option, but nothing truly memorable. The best thing about the place is that it's located in the top-most section of the clock tower right off Centerville Rd. If you live in the area, you'll know what I'm talking about. And if you don't, then don't bother coming here, as there are undoubtedly better options for you closer to home. As I said, though, being high in the clock tower strip mall offers a fairly unique experience, offering views of the world below. Alas, those views don't amount to much more than birds eye views of the parking lot where you left your car. Yeah, kind of a letdown. There are dozens of pool tables up for rent, so if that's your aim then you'll be set. Otherwise, there's a stage on the lower floor of the bar that hosts a pretty strong selection of local acts most of the time. Other than that, though, the only thing Breakers offers is an indoor smoking section, for those of you who would want such a feature. Not being a smoker, it doesn't do much for me, but I know that two of my friends certainly appreciate being able to enjoy their cigs indoors every now and then. And that's pretty much it, really. I've been here twice in the past and didn't think much of it. A smokey pool hall, woohoo. Recently, I was motivated to come as my local dance studio was co-hosting a fundraiser. I was so shocked to see how much Breakers had changed. It has more of a club feel - the bottom floor has a stage, a dancefloor, plenty of seating and a bar that lines the entire back wall. Upstairs there is pool, which I believe is the smoking section (I didn't go up there). It's kind of cool to find that there's a somewhat hip place to go to out in Herndon if I want to go dancing but not out to the city. The bar service could improve though. I'm sure they were slammed but one of the bartenders not only took forever trying to figure out how to find drinks on his register (maybe he's new?) but he completely forgot to *make* the drinks after he input it. read more

Breaker's is our usual Thursday to-go spot. $4 quesadillas (AWESOME), although you have to specifically ask for guac if you want it. happy hour $3 rails (I think?) and $1 bottle domestics. Bartenders are awesome! Plenty of space, so awesome for groups (unless some company is having a corporate get-together). Karaoke and free pool (if you've spent money) after 9pm, cheap darts. Note: only reason why I gave four stars is because I've had people try other things on the menu and they weren't really a fan. Listen I don't have any issue with this place, it's nicer looking than most places out here, but the drink prices do not reflect the area. They are just as expensive as DC! I went on a Monday Night for my friends' 21st birthday. While the place is large and accommodates a lot of people, our bartender was not kind at all. In fact, she was pretty rude. My friend was waiting for her drink and when a guy showed up behind her - the bartender completely ignored her and asked the guy what he wanted to drink. They do have different events each day of the week. On Mondays in particular, they have poker night. There is also a happy hour on Mondays - Fridays. The food looked good but I didn't have any. However, it's best to stay away from this place on Friday and Saturday nights because they typically charge an arm and a leg for the pool tables themselves and for drinks. It is also worth pointing out that the staff has high turnover and that this place sort of attracts a questionable crowd at times.. other than that... Today I went in with my husband and our friend. This was our 3rd time coming here. We were having fun playing pool, the lady who served us was very nice and attentive. While we were playing, the people next to us tried to start a fight talking about we should "take it outside" just because we were in "their" space. I get it the place is not so big for so many pool tables but they weren't polite to say hey lets share the space a little. You could tell they were regulars there because they new the staff and they talked to us like if they were the owners. Anyways we ignored them, tried to just have fun and just before we were leaving a security guard started to stand next to us while we paid. He told us "I just got to make sure you guys leave." We asked to speak to the manager and he told us the same thing that we had to leave. We tried explaining what happened but it seemed that since we weren't regulars we weren't getting listened to. So can you imagine the embarrassment of paying while a security and a manager are there making sure "you pay and leave." Never coming here again wouldn't recommend this place to nobody. read more

Have to give the Breakers an "A" for customer service! Tonight was New Years Eve and I purchased tickets from eventbrite for the bash. I purchased a VIP for me and general for my wife. The difference being the VIP congress with drink tickets and since she was on medicine she wasn't drinking. So we are the amongst the first people to arrive since we wanted to get there early to get a good seat because my wife can't stand very long. We go to seat at a table for two and the waitress informs us that all tables are reserved and coat $50. This is in addition to what I already paid. OH NO! Big flag! She offers to get the manager and he comes over. He introduced himself as David. He then explains that the tables are taken. I explain to him my issue with my wife back but that I understand they are making money and that we will just leave and take a refund because there is no way she could stand for 6 hours. I understand its New Years and all. Well, David says no, you're not leaving, it's New Years and you came a long way. He finds us a table to sit for the night and then periodically came though to check on us to make sure we were having a good time. I want to go on record to say, we need more managers like David who care about the customer needs over a policy. Thanks David for making my wife's night wonderful and enjoyable. One minor side issue though, you never put out the dessert that was quoted in the menu for the night. The other food was awesome. read more
