I had seen it on some of my friends social media and the wife picked this mornings breakfast spot, so here we go. We were greeted by Ms. Tye when we walked in. She expressed we could sit wherever we liked. She gave us a rundown of the menu, gave us her suggestions, and took our drink order. Small quiet restaurant. Very intimate atmosphere. We went with the suggestions. The wife ordered the chicken and red velvet waffle. I had the catfish and grits. The wife said her food was good. The red velvet waffle didn't need syrup as the cream cheese glaze was good. The chicken was seasoned well. She was expecting whole wings but the drums and flats were still tasty. The fish and grits was ok. I found myself missing something. The grits were thick vs creamy. I believe the gravy was supposed to make up for the creamy feel. You definitely can tell it's catfish. I don't know if one can really master getting that "dirt" taste out but that's what comes with catfish right? The breading as good and after a little hot sauce and ketchup, I was good. Nice place. However everything went fairly smoothly when we came on a Monday morning, we got the last table. Definitely disappointed in the way my food looks and certainly the taste after waiting more than 30 minutes. No they weren't busy one person was dining in and only two orders picked up after we had already placed our order. The person at the register wasn't so friendly and I understand that every business is having staffing issues but it doesn't hurt to smile or cost anything to be nice when greeting people that patronize your establishment. I drive about 35 minutes one way to get to this restaurant and to some people that's nothing but to drive over an hour to support a business is a big deal to me. I've been here and ordered food from this place several times and at different times on different days of the week. To have an open and honest opinion about the food and service so that I may write a truthful and informative review based on my experience. The food as you can see from the pictures the food doesn't look very fresh nor appetizing. I walked out the door to the car and checked my food. The entire plate of was completely cold. I had scrambled eggs in a separate bowl they were not prepared the way I ordered them yet they were hot but hard and way over cooked. Now the pork chops were a nice size and thickness with the right about of fat around the edges. However the batter gave indication of how they were going to taste. I decided to taste them anyway and my indication was right they were awful. They were very hard with no seasoning at all and tasted old and burnt like they were cooked twice in old grease to reheat for me from having already been cooked earlier. The potatoes and half piece of butter soaked toast were well you can see for yourself that they old and not fresh. So to sum it up is that I basically wasted my time and money on food that was (in my opinion) not edible. I know the pandemic have everything messed up but come on guys this is unacceptable. I mean poor customer service and bad food is human error not a pandemic problem. I'm not trying to bash BB just offering my thoughts and opinions on my experiences. They do get pack fast since the store is small. We got lucky and came when a table just got cleared. I got the red velvet waffle with 6 wings. The wings tasted like homemade wings. Enjoyed our Breakfast Brothers experience this morning! Stopped by after dropping off kiddo at school. It was a Wednesday, and although most of the tables were full, we were seated quickly. Our server was nice and welcoming and provided menus and took our order shortly after we were seated. My wife had the chicken and waffles and I had the catfish and grits. I want to start off by saying that I was excited to try this restaurant. The pics on IG had my mouth watering! However, I'm leaving the restaurant still hungry and confused by how awful this restaurant is. There wasn't anyone in the restaurant on a Friday night which should have been my first clue. We ordered our food and had to ask for our drinks because they were "so busy." Sigh. Before our food came out the waitress notified us that they ran out of greens but would give us what was left to taste. When we mentioned that we had two orders she responded, "oh y'all did." Sigh. Our food came out and the greens were awful. There was absolutely no seasoning on them. The catfish tasted very fishy. Yuck! They don't even make their own tarter sauce . Even that was nasty! Sigh. The Mac and cheese was definitely a day or two old. They added shredded cheese to make it look fresh. DOUBLE SIGH! We ordered home style potatoes. The waitress told us she wasn't going to serve them because they "didn't look right." For entertainment purposes we asked to see them. They were burned and clearly leftover from either the day before or breakfast. I couldn't understand why they wouldn't just make new potatoes. The waitress showed us pictures from IG of what the potatoes were supposed to look like. TRIPLE SIGH! Clearly what's on IG and what we were served was two different things. This place is much smaller than I thought it was going be. My friend and I came by on a Saturday late morning and the wait was too long for ME. The nice lady at the front told us that they open around 7am and to come at that time because it gets packed quick and the wait can be up to an hour long. Yesterday my boyfriend and I took a wrong turn and ended up passing this restaurant. It looked interesting so I googled and learned that it is a Black owned restaurant. We decided to try it for breakfast today. Here is an honest review from both our perspectives. Food: Our main entrees were good. He got the chicken and waffles (which was definitely the better of the 2 options)... the chicken was seasoned very well and fried perfectly. The waffle was just right and delicious. He added a side of mac and cheese which literally looked like the box Velveeta mac from the store and tasted awful! I got the fried catfish and grits. Fish was seasoned well also and fried perfectly. The eggs, which I got scrambled, were fresh cracked eggs not that liquid egg that a lot of restaurants use. The worst part for me was the lump of grits I received which had no flavor. I know there's a great debate on how to season grits but the consistency while still warm was completely wrong. Price: For 2 entrees and an extra side, our total was $38. I believe these prices are comparable for the amount of food and for this being a small business. Atmosphere: It is very small inside... I mean very! I'd say about 8 tables total. This isn't an issue, per se, but it's probably best to just get take out and not dine in. There were at least 2 tables open when we arrived, yet we were told the wait time was 40 mins. So we decided to just order takeout, which also took at least 40 mins. Overall, the restaurant was clean and we observed one of the staff cleaning a table while we waited to place our order. Yes, we observed her cleaning the table after she had just told us the wait time for a table was 40 mins. Customer service: Unfortunately, just as other reviews mentioned, the customer service was extremely poor. As I mentioned previously, when we arrived there were at least 2 empty tables but we were told the wait time was 40mins. When I informed the woman that we would order take out, she handed two menus to us and walked away. We stood there, ready to order, as she talked with other customers at their table and then started assisting the guests who arrived after us. Nevertheless, we placed our order and provided my cell number. The woman assisting us said I would receive a call when the order was ready in about 40 mins. I also provided my name. We ran an errand and came back to wait. About 50mins later I still hadn't received a phone call, so my boyfriend went inside to find that our order was already done and just sitting there for who knows how long. Turns out the wrong person's name was on our bag and they had lost our receipt. Perhaps this restaurant has went through some recent changes, and may be in the process of becoming more efficient.
