We were in and out in about 30-40 mins. The place was clean and well-run. Our plates were cleared quickly and floors and everything else were spotless. Bathroom was also nice and clean. Food was quite tasty. Not excellent, but very good and reasonably priced. The chorizo hash skillet has perfectly cooked eggs and potatoes. The guacamole on top was pretty good. I didn't notice a lot of chorizo, but there was a nice little spice to it. The pancake was tasty. A little on the thin side, but good flavor and well cooked. The croissant sandwich was quite tasty. Interior was nice. It felt homey, yet professional. Staff was working together well and it seemed like everyone knew what they were doing. Clearly well-established systems in place. Even though the place was quite busy, we were seated immediately and had service at our table within minutes. It was a tad noisy, but that's to be expected on a Saturday at a breakfast joint. In short, if you're in the area, this is a nice place for a casual breakfast that won't break the bank. Sometimes it's nice to go out for some breakfast. Breakfast House & Coffee Bar is a hidden gem in the Irving Park neighborhood. My wife and I stumbled upon this place by chance, as it is not on any breakfast top ten lists that we have perused but belongs in them. Our sensational morning began as soon as we walked in the door. At the door was the manager or owner, so I assume, greeting patrons as they came in. He ushered us to a quaint table for two, inspecting it before my wife and I sat down. Upon inspection, he noticed a slight wobble with the table and immediately went to get a wedge to stabilize it. During this, a waiter was behind aiding him and waiting to take our beverage order for coffee or juice. We have been to other more lauded restaurants where we've sat at worse tables, and not once did we get this treatment. A+ service. We put in our drink order of coffee for my wife and freshly-squeezed orange juice for me. She enjoyed her cup of Intelligentsia coffee, as you cannot go wrong with Intelligentsia. My juice tasted as if someone picked the orange from an orange tree moments before it ended up in front of me; it lived up to its namesake. Food-wise, I ordered the Breakfast Burrito and my wife chose the Supreme Chorizo Hash. Our order appeared in front of us before we could blink! The food had no-frills and did not need any. When it comes to breakfast potatoes, I am in the camp that eats them, yet, I do not enjoy them; the flavor is typically mundane. Such was not the case with Breakfast House. The side of potatoes that came with my dish was as savory as the main course. Their seasoning impressed me as it uplifted the taste of the potato. Not outshone, the burrito was first-class, with the Guajillo sauce adding an adequate amount of spice. My wife shared some of her hash, and that tasted great too! The pancake that came with it was airy and drenched with the in-house syrup led to a mouthwatering pancake. Both plates were straightforward as we knew what to expect but delivered high-quality flavor. Breakfast House knows what it wants to be and executes this very well. This place offers familiar, delicious breakfast plates minus the pretentiousness with fantastic service, packaged at a steal of a price. It's one of those spots that I could see becoming a neighborhood staple. We will be revisiting with my parents as they love breakfast, and I know Breakfast House will not disappoint. read more

Mothers Day 2025.. Had a reservation. Not busy, sat outside, waited almost an hour for our food. Food was good, but not sure if that was because we were starving by then. Waitstaff not attentive to outside seated patrons. When the bill shows up, there's 20% gratuity already added due to 6ppl party! Really?? After we waited for an hour to get our food? The waiter had the gall to make up some story about their printer being out. Didn't seem to malfunction when serving all the other parties. Maybe try another location or don't sit outside!! This was just a chance stop in for a quick breakfast. I had no expectations except a quick breakfast and on my way. The decor of the restaurant is very nice and comfortable and the service was very good. I had the eggs Florentine which had a chipotle sauce and fruit and it was cooked exactly right. I was very specific on how I wanted it and they did it exactly right. I also observed that the service person I was very attentive to everybody which is unusual when a restaurant is in a slow period because that's when service is usually at its worst. I would highly recommend giving this restaurant to try even if you live out of the area it's probably worth the drive for breakfast I don't know how it would be for dinner The only downside at all and the reason for a four star rating instead of a five star rating is that the coffee was terrible. It would seem that that should be the one thing you can get right but it was very bitter and could not be rescued with almond milk or any sweetener. Also I'm looking over their menu it appears to be below market on most of the prices however I do take exception with the 20% added on to parties five or more. That seems a bit excessive considering with the minimum wage is in the city. read more

First came here about a month ago and had a really enjoyable breakfast. I decided to come back one more time before writing my review and I had just as good of an experience. The host checked our vaccine cards and verified them with our IDs which not all restaurants are doing and I appreciate greatly. We were seated distanced away from other guests and brought water immediately. The music playing was very repetitive and the song kept skipping and starting over every 20 seconds, which was distracting to say the least. The manager walks around and talks to guests at every table and when I mentioned it to him he laughed about not noticing it and fixed it immediately. He later came back and made a joke about the music being better, it was sweet and appreciated. The food was FANTASTIC. Over my two visits I was able to get the chicken and waffle, the chilequiles, and the chocolate chip bacon pancakes. Chicken and waffles - the chicken is coated in a delicious batter. It comes with 3 pieces and a whole waffle so the portion size was great. The chicken breast was a little dry. Waffle was nice and tender, I love that they offer REAL maple syrup for no extra charge and it also comes with a delicious honey mustard. Chilequiles - portion was massive and flavors were bomb. As a LA resident I'm always nervous to order Mexican food outside of California since every region has their own tastes but this really satisfying to me. This is such a great spot for breakfast. My husband and I came here on a rainy Saturday and were pleasantly surprised to see a full restaurant. We were still seated immediately by a friendly hostess. Our waitress had a lot of tables but did an amazing job checking in with us periodically and always seemed calm. The restaurant itself is very cute and bright. My husband had the BLT Benedict, which he said had so much flavor. I went on the lighter side and had their yogurt with fruit and granola (parfait). The fruit they chose and the way they chopped the apples into super tiny pieces was so delicious. This place has great Latin inspired breakfasts. The place is large and bright with big windows, exposed brick and wool, making this a really cool place to visit. We have tried various dishes and they have all been great. The Chilaquiles are so tasty, the Steak and eggs were great, steak portion was average but well cooked. And the Corn meal cakes were a big hit. Their pancakes are fluffy and tasty and they serve intelligentsia coffee that will get you right in gear. Today was my third visit. Three times in a row I had the same excellent experience. First the service. When I walked in I was immediately greeted with a smiling face and seated immediately. The first time was also on a packed Sunday. I never seemed to be wondering where my server was or when I could get a warm up on my coffee. Everyone was very attentive. All of the employees were welcoming and appeared genuinely happy to be there and to have us there. The three servers I had were all friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent. Great choices and prepared just right. They serve Intelligentsia coffee which is a great pick. Each time the food arrived in timely fashion and hot. Lastly, it is a beautifully designed and decorated restaurant. From the big sliding windows to access the outdoor seating which lets in light to the chalkboard mural of the owner and employees, to the nice quaint tables with the flower decor, all of it is really inviting and comfortable. read more

Big fan of this neighborhood breakfast joint. Living not too far from this establishment, we frequent here on average 1x month. Every-time we are here we are very pleased by the service and the food. This place used to be an Irish bar, and what they have done with the space is remarkable. The space is cozy, quaint, and homey, while also presenting a step up from a diner feel. When you first enter it is a smaller space, but when you turn the corner, you are presented with a whole separate dinning room, with ample seating. In the nice weather months, they also have a lovely and spacious patio worth checking out. Despite being on Irving Park Rd it is not too loud. On the weekends this place does get on the busy side, which is good to see. The later in the morning, the more busy it gets. We however have not had to wait longer than 10 mins for a table. Food is phenomenal and fair in serving. We have not had a bad meal here, and frequently try new menu items. However, the Breakfast Burrito is a classic go to. Food is always served fresh and HOT. Drinks are also great. We have had both coffee based beverages, and cocktails from here. Coffee is delicious, as I believe they brew Intelligentsia coffee. Cocktails (Bloody Mary anyone?) are also a must. Overall, this is one of our favorite brunch spots in the city. Great space, friendly and down to earth staff, relaxing vibes, and wonderful food/drinks. Great way to start off your day. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed. read more
