Bless these folks for opening their restaurant during an unpredictable pandemic. Thankfully they found solace in such a reliable neighborhood who know a thing or two of fine dining especially during the morning hours. In my Irving Park neighborhood Facebook group, I've read countless posts promoting this restaurant, praising its delicious breakfast dishes. Since Breakfast House is so close to home, I decided to stop by one weekday morning. I usually don't go out for breakfast, especially during our current times, I figured it was time to get some takeout. The place was cozy with some great natural light that perfectly hit the building, doing some justice on the restaurant's already beaming appearance. We were greeted by a wonderfully sweet hostess who took no time gathering our order, and somehow took even less time delivering us our goodies. I ordered one of the specials from the menu- a chorizo house plate, a great mixture of eggs, chorizo, and potatoes that would satisfy any man or woman. It definitely did the trick for me! I imagine that once things go back to normal this would be a wonderful neighborhood hangout spot. Inside displayed a few seating tables along with a grand bar area. Brunch definitely looked like it was an option here as I spotted some mimosas chilling in the fridge behind the counter. I'd also imagine there'll be some type of patio arrangement just like the past establishment that resided there (RIP McNamara's). I'm pleased to say that Breakfast House lived up to it's expectations, and even though I'm not one to go out much for breakfast these days, if I were to I wouldn't see why I wouldn't come down here especially on a nicer day. read more

Fell off. Idk if it was the server or what... but usually when I get service from the guy my food comes out perfect. I was served uncooked chocolate bacon pancakes (their special), their specialty chorizo hash (which I always get) was so inedible today the potatoes were burnt and the avocado was old. When I told the server she told me well you should've told me in the beginning, mind you I just started the hash, since I ate my side of pancakes first, it was all still there but that just shows her horrible service skills, the guy would've got it remade. I cannot stress enough how great this place is. The staff are some of the friendliest, polite, and fastest I've ever seen this side of the Mississippi. They serve everything on that menu with a lil bit of sass and a whole lot of class. If you're looking for a rec though, you can't go wrong with the supreme chorizo hash and a side pancake or the chilaquiles. Cute little place on the corner of Irving and Lowell. Ample seating outside on the busy street (Irving) and side street. The staff was welcoming and checked on us many times- SUPER friendly. You can tell they take great pride in their business. The food was excellent, and we also had some peach mimosas. Used to live by the ashland location and was sad when we moved and were going to drive back just for the food when we saw there was their newest and biggest location much closer. Got the chefs special French toast, it was f***ing amazing. Melt in your mouth cinnamon crunch and fresh strawberries and blueberries, drizzled dulce de leche, you literally don't even need syrup. Had it delivered, got the food super fast, order to empty plate in less than an hour, and even though it's -8 degrees outside, food was still hot. Not that it matters. I visited the Breakfast House today and the food was delicious. I had the BLT eggs Benedict. The poached eggs were perfectly done. There were a lot of interesting items on the menu. The service was great. Our waitress was very nice and continually stopped by to see how we were doing. We were not rushed. The owner walked to each table and asked how everything was and even gave us some recommendations for our next visit. The restaurant is very light and airy. The tables were spaced out well. Newer space, with metered parking right on Irving. They guided us through the smaller bar area to the main dining area. (More on this later). Our waitress came up promptly and upon request, gave us a paper menu. The first item on the rather large menu was their "signature dish", chorizo hash. Not being a breakfast sweets guy, that was a no-brainer for me. My wife, who IS a sweets eater ordered the baked apple french toast. After perusing the many savory breakfast items. I was relieved to find almost as many pancakes and crepes. They brought us our Intelligentsia coffee - Hot - right away, and our orders appeared very quickly afterwards. The hash was better than I imagined: very spicy chorizo and crispy potato cubes topped by 2 eggs over easy, a mound of guac, and a drizzle of Chipotle sauce. Amazing. My wife liked her baked apple French toast as well, remarking that it was non-greasy as some French toasts can be. Then refills on the coffe - without having to flag her down! The only (slight) downer is that the large dining room wasn't exactly conversation-friendly. Chalk some of that up to our declining hearing, but next time, we'll stick with the bar area, which was mercifully quiet. Extra credit given for having no TV blaring. So yeah, definitely 5 stars. Went in on a Saturday morning with another couple after a workout. The place was very crowded. The server was nice but very slow to come to the table to take our order or to bring items we requested. Everyone got their entree except me so I had to summon one of the waiters down to find out where it was. I ordered the eggs Benedict with bacon, nothing special. My husband ordered eggs with ham and pancakes and was served one small pancake. The ham was thinly sliced and not tasty. For the prices they charge the food and service should be of better quality. My 4th time coming to this place because i just love the food so much. I love ordering the mexican or southwest omelette. They have a great variety of food options. Their portions are amazing and will most definitely make you full. The staff remembers me every time i eat there. They are very attentive and they give great quality service. Hello Foodzies, yesterday we were in the city at the Breakfast House at 4328 w Irving park rd. You enter into what appears to be a bar area, we were met by William who also turned out to be our server. We were then escorted to another area to eat. The restaurant was very clean and modern looking. We received a regular menu with drinks and specials but for the rest of the menu we had to download it to our phones. William was pleasant, personable and friendly. I had an cappuccino which was good size and nice and strong. Glenda had camomile tea. Glenda had the Huevos Rancheros, 2 eggs sunny side up served over corn tortillas with black beans, pepper Jack cheese, avocado and rancheros sauce. The dish was flavorful but in my opinion the ranchero sauce was the bomb. I went with Supreme chorizo hash. House potatoes, corn and red peppers. Served with a pancake. The meal was tasty but kind of busy with the guacamole and sauce added . The pancake was nice and fluffy, wish I had a couple instead of just one. I give this restaurant 4 stars. Sorry I don't understand the 5 star reviews. We finally stopped in as we live nearby. Our go-to is Bryn Mawr Breakfast Club and this restaurant doesn't compare. Husband had Southwest omelette, he said how do you call it southwest when it has no flavor. Daughter had burrito which was flavorless and mushy :-( I had the only good (not great) dish, the Paris omelette. The toast can't be called toast-it was not toasty and actually cold and stale. Hubby only got one piece, I got two. And why only one tiny pat of butter? We ordered a side of bacon which came out alone right after we ordered and it looked day old and microwaved. We were excited to try this new neighborhood breakfast place and our experience was as short-lived as it was terrible. We arrived and immediately put in our name for a table -- the host told us it would be about 10-15 minutes and we were happy to wait. As we were waiting another member of the staff directed us to an empty table. As we got settled and started looking at the menu, the host came over to our table and informed us that there was another table still ahead of us and told us we had to leave the table. She did not offer an apology and handled the situation terribly. The miscommunication was on the part of the staff -- not us. Who does that?
