Who knew? @breakfasthousechicago is known for their delicious breakfast entrees, but did you know that they also have a lot of choices and variety of delicious lunches? From salads to burgers and sandwiches to a full chicken or steak meal, The Breakfast House serves a lot more than just breakfast. We have recently had both the grilled chicken breast plate and the grilled New York Steak lunch entrees for takeout. Both entries were fresh and delicious when we opened them at home and, in fact, we have ordered these meals several times. They are open for takeout, delivery, and at the location at 1800 West Grand they have cute little tables outside around the restaurant, and, on their  patio right next to the restaurant. The Grilled Chicken Breast plate comes with sauteed vegetables roasted potatoes and tomato sauce and the Grilled New York Steak plate comes with sauteed vegetables and house roasted potatoes. This is my go-to breakfast spot in Chicago. My spouse can't go a full month without getting breakfast to go. To put it simply, we love this place. This is our neighborhood joint, so we have never been to any of their other locations. Tried and true, every time. Service is always great and friendly. Most recently we stupidly chose to have breakfast together on Sunday morning, which was Father's Day. Safe to say the place was packed! They were busting their butts and even gifted us a latte on the house for our wait which was so kind. Also, the have intelligentsia coffee so you know the deal. So good. I tried their iced latte while we summed ourselves outside enjoying the beautiful weather and it was just as smooth as the hot coffee. This time I had the breakfast burrito which is a massive feat. It's also grilled and topped with sauce so enough said on that. It hit the spot. Spouse had his go-to, the steak and eggs. I'll be honest it's a little pricey for what you get compared to other places in the area, but that's the only criticism I could ever make on this spot. Their pancakes y'all. Damn. I'm not super into pancakes but theirs blow me away. And their local maple syrup is reason alone to come here. This was a rare occasion on which we didn't order the challah baked French toast and I may have to go back next week to fulfill that craving, because it's hands down the best sweet breakfast item I've experienced in this life. We were able to snag street parking right outside the restaurant but, we also arrived 15 mins after the doors opened on a weekday. The place is on the smaller size and has some fun interior touches throughout the space. We were helped and seated immediately. Our server was pleasant and patient with our dietary restrictions and meal modifications. Cappuccino was sweeter than I would have liked but tasty. Both of our meals were a good-sized portion, and we had the choice of a few different side options which was nice. The egg white frittata wasn't a true frittata it was more like a circle of fried eggs but topped with great tasting veggies! The Mexican burrito was tasty with a nice, slight heat but the sauce was bland. Overall, this place provided a fine meal with nice service in a bright, clean space. read more

Breakfast is nice quiet little locally owned place that serves up some really good food. There is definitely a breakfast forward attitude here obviously because of the name and menu choices. I went here with a fairly large group and we were seating in the back room, and although it was lunch time we all decided on breakfast. The server was very nice and patient considering it took us some time to make decisions based on some pretty amazing sounding options. I decided on a the eggs Benedict with a twist special which used an abandon based hollandaise and a piece of fried chicken on top. It was delicious! Everything else that was ordered at our table was top notch from the pancakes to the breakfast sandwiches. Really good food. The husbae and I are on our plant based journey and visiting Chicago so we decided we needed to find a good breakfast spot that served plant based food. This establishment was perfect. It's a really quaint neighborhood spot on the corner, with some outside seating as well. The inside was bigger than it looked from the outside. They were quite busy but we were seated right away. We chose to sit inside because it was a little chill in the air outside. Our waitress greeted us quickly and asked for our drink orders. She also asked if we had any questions about the menu, which we had none. We were ready to order so she took our order. I chose the Vegan Cobb salad and the husbae had the plant based chorizo scramble. Both were very tasty. The husbae also had a pancake (not vegan). He said it was perfect. Standard Chicago brunch fare of egg dishes and pancakes, along with Mexican-inspired choices like chiquilates. Waiting on my vehicle to be maintenanced I came here for breakfast. Scrolling thru bookmarks the chicken sounded good from the reviews. Immediately seated/greeted upon entering and told to choose our own seating. We ordered the chicken & waffles & my friend had the chicken soup which looked/smelled amazing. It took the chicken 20mins to come out which we were advised of the wait. The food was fresh, but to me the chicken was over cooked & too crispy for me. It had a great crunch, good flavor too. First time coming here and I wasn't impressed. I was unsure if I should order the waffle or crepes and the waitress recommended the Nutella crepes. They looked good except the Nutella was cooked in the crepes so u couldn't really taste much of it. All drizzled on top would've maybe been better. Tried them anyway only to keep finding mushiness throughout my plate. The edges were maybe the only ones without the undercooked consistency. When asked how our meals were I explained I thought they appeared mushy and undercooked throughout and all she said was "that's how they come" and walked away. Delicious. I ordered the challah French toast with apple topping and hash browns. The hash browns were cut up into perfectly shaped cubes. They were browned and seasoned just right. The French toast...my mouth waters thinking about every morsel. I didn't even need syrup. But if I did need it, they offer organic locally made syrup. I've been here before this time I brought my dining buddy. She had French toast too, eggs and hash browns. What's better than weekend brunch? A delicious weekend brunch with great service, of course! Breakfast House delivered all this on a rainy Saturday morning and made our wet day a little brighter. We walked over a mile in a light drizzle to try this yummy joint, so I had high expectations. Thankfully, I wasn't disappointed and neither was my friend! We were seated promptly after being greeted as soon as we walked up. The menu was plentiful without being overwhelming, offering a good mix of omelets, sandwiches, and traditional breakfast dishes. My eggs and meat platter was amazing, boasting perfectly medium scrambled eggs, thick-cut bacon, and a fluffy pancake. I chose for for my side, which was fresh and flavorful. The pancake was served with warm organic maple syrup and was DIVINE! My friend's omelet looked beautiful and was excellent per her report. Prices are reasonable for the city and seating was plentiful, despite social distancing. The serving staff was also very attentive and polite, which made our brunch even better. I was in the area and came across this breakfast place. Now I can't wait to be back !! I was there with my dad (meat lover) and my mom (vegetarian) there was something for all of us. My dad's Steak on the steak and eggs was beautifully cooked to his desired temperature and it was so flavorful. I had the huevos rancheros that were also amazing but I would have enjoyed a little more crispiness on the tortilla (preference) I would definitely get it again and make that request. This is one of my go to breakfast spots when I am too lazy to cook. The chorizo hash and chilaquiles are my go to. I also love their French toast, drizzled with Nutella and fresh strawberries.
